'You think this is a motherfxxking game?' It was all Faustine - no, Elkeid - could think from her spot in the tree. A puckish youth was dancing around on the ground below, swinging his shoddily made sword at a rabbit - a fxxking rabbit. This was the sight the woman had woken up to. One moment she was sitting at her laptop, idling doodling on her tablet, the next she was waking up to a pounding headache, almost as bad as any hangover she'd had before. Somehow or other she had ended up inside the game, and knew immediately that something was not right. This wasn't a dream, nor was it a hallucination.
She'd seen several players stumbling about the field, wondering aloud what was going on, and even demanding to speak to a GM. The urge to grab and shake every last one of them was strong within her, but she couldn't. Much like someone suddenly stricken with telepathy and no way to shut it off, Elkeid found herself hearing voices - ones that obviously did not belong to her - within her head. The voices chattered about nothing in particular, but the occasional word got through. To Elkeid, who couldn't tell a man's speech from the low hum of a radiator, it was beyond horrifying and irritating. She normally only saw words - she did not coherently hear them. Rather than simply seeing it like always, however, there was sound to accompany it. So, staying in the tree and away from the sudden changes was alright by her. If the day passed and she was still stuck in the game, however, she might strike out to find a quiet place in civilization to rest in.
It would have worked, too, had the youth not ventured closer to her tree. With every step he took towards her, her agitation grew. The player was chatting freely with the rabbits he was fighting. There was even a hint of… "Gnnh…" The world almost turned black for Elkeid, who found herself leaning to the side and gasping for air. 'Oh lord.' The fact that she almost understood the tone the player was using frightened her. 'You're going to have to go, kid.' She might end up accidentally killing him in this state. People have lost control and flown into rage before. They usually regretted it in the end, too. She didn't want to become a murderer, for fxxks sake. 'Maybe if I help get rid of those rabbits, he'll go away.' Quite a few of them had accumulated themselves at the player's feet. She was surprised they hadn't turned tail and fled yet, but they did greatly outnumber the player.
There were twelve rabbits remaining, each one battering the player from either side. His health was dropping rather quickly, and would be empty soon enough. 'Time to...figure out the battle system.' That was one of the few things she had read about in a guide, but a whole lot of mouse clicking had been involved. She wasn't sure how to approach the system otherwise, so she began poking and prodding at her interface.
"Ugh." There were too many damn options to sort through, and she found herself without even a weapon to swipe around. '...Unless my fists are my weapons?' That made sense. 'Alright.'
Elkeid stumbled when she hit the ground, her fingers on hand still awkwardly maneuvering through her interface.
"Not ------- natural!"
The woman's eyebrows knitted in surprise as the words reached her ears. She was obviously missing a good deal due to static, though. She turned to face the player, briefly forgetting about the danger the two of them were now in. One of the rabbits jumped towards her, its mouth opening to take a bite. Elkeid instinctively shoved one open palm out to defend herself, and blinked in confusion when her hand began to glow white. Aside from the glow, however, it did little else. 'What's the point of this?' Was she supposed to pretend that this was a "Spirit-Gun," like in that '90's anime? She felt like an idiot as she adjusted her hand accordingly and aimed at the rabbit in front of her.
A beam of light erupted from her finger, striking the rabbit full on in the face. The rabbit dropped down like a stone, a matching look of disbelief on its face. It glanced up at Elkeid, and shrieked before turning and running off, leaving a patch of upturned soil behind. The other rabbits came to their senses and followed it, all shrieking in fear as they did so. "...That was easy." The other player was chasing after them, flailing his sword around in empty air. "And so ends the attack of the killer rabbits," Elkeid muttered to herself as she watched. She took a tentative step forward, almost as if she was following the boy, but stopped and shook her head. At the rate this kid was going, he would only get himself killed. It would be best if she tried familiarizing herself with this world, first. 'It sounds pretty damn crude, but I suppose I could try "killing" a few things.' She may even have to, regardless. The path to London seemed clear enough, at least, so it was possible to run to safety if necessary.
