Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach The sun had barely risen above the horizon when Kyuu opened her eyes. She was curled up in her cave within the guild house of Aeryn, with no roommate at that moment for the other members were away on their own trips or errands. She could do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted; and if she did wish to sleep in that day, she could very well do so. But the samurai sleepily rubbed her eyes and tried her best to sit up straight. Notably she did not have a blanket yet; perhaps she could bug Ryuu to make one. That was a story for another time though. At that moment, Kyuu crawled out of her cave and promptly slumped onto the floor of the bedroom. She sluggishly turned her head to the left side and noticed that Londenium was pretty grey that morning. The sky was overcast... perhaps it would rain later on.
Kyuu, who was down on the floor in a pretty awkward position, managed to prop herself up by using her arms though with much difficulty. She ended up in the OTL position and it did not help that Hrairoo, who was sleeping beside her cave, decided to nibble on her ankles. The girl was awake enough to not kick at the rabbit though. Instead she stood up, a bit wobbly at the beginning, and promptly exited the bedroom. Kyuu left the door open behind her so Roo followed its sleepy tamer as she made her way to the kitchen. She thought that the place was empty save for herself and for her rabbit so the chef decided to do her research that day. Kyuu yawned and stretched her arms over her head; the white shirt that she bought from a lander really was comfortable to sleep in. Never mind the bad fitting due to the fact that it was three sizes too large for her; it was better than sleeping in an ooyoroi.
The chef finally arrived at the kitchen with much tripping, hitting walls and faceplanting on the floor. Hrairoo kept a considerably safe distance between itself and its tamer for the girl could turn him to a pancake with one wrong move. Still, it was curious as to why she got up so early. The rabbit’s curiosity would soon be satisfied though, for Kyuu took out some cooking utensils and laid them all over the kitchen counter. She made quite a mess doing it too for at some point, the girl knocked over a sack of flour in all her sleepiness. Perhaps it was a bad time to cook...
Regardless, mixing bowls, measuring cups, wooden spoons and many smaller bowls and plates were soon laid out on the counter. Kyuu then proceeded to take out the ingredients from her inventory: the herbs which she gathered with the help of the guardian Oxford. They’d gone through quite an ordeal to acquire those things which included a lengthy recount of her first few minutes of playing Silent Hill Origins. The chef put the herbs on the counter in this order, from her left to her right: chamomile, mint, oregano, chili peppers and aloe vera. She then stared at them for the longest time, unsure of what to do first. No matter, she had all the time in the world and no one would bother her that day. Probably.

Thump, thump, thump. That was the sound he heard first, but he paid no attention to it at first, thinking that something of someone’s had fallen. It happened a few more times, but it was far enough away that he had no need to take it into consideration. It wouldn’t be his fault if someone’s books or items fell from their shelf. Clack, clack, clack. was the next sound he heard, much closer to him now, coming from the kitchen. Ryuu looked up from his desk to look towards the kitchen, but unfortunately, his view was obstructed by his door and the wall. I thought everyone left already, he thought as he stood up from his desk. He had turned off the mini-map when he was in buildings. Unless it was a larger building, they tended to be more annoying than helpful. In addition to that, because this was his Guild House and he controlled who was allowed to enter, he knew that no one other than his guild and friends of guild members were allowed to come in (upon accompaniment). He placed his pen and his papers down and walked over to the door, confused, wondering who was still here on a day he had given most people free reign. There were no Guild Activities, and most of the lower leveled members had gone out with each other to train in the low-level camps. As his hand reached for the doorknob, he heard even more clamoring come from the kitchen. He quickly grabbed the doorknob, twisted it, and swung his door open, not too hard that it would crash into the wall and make a loud noise, but a controlled pull that was fast to figure out who was here.
“Kyuu?” he said surprised. He was sure she would still be asleep, or at least out somewhere killing some things. Ryuu walked through the threshold into the other room and looked at all the items on the table and scratched his head. “What are you making?” he asked, trying to figure out if he should stay, or if he should leave while he still had a chance. He looked at her suspiciously, unsure of what she was about to do to make and what may be experiments. These ingredients were definitely ingredients she had never used before, and that meant only one thing. She was planning to test the best way to use them, and the only available guinea pig was standing right in front of her. Ryuu smiled and turned around straight away, trying to make it back to his office, but before he could, he felt a tug at the back of his shirt. She had caught him, and that meant only one thing. She tugged at it some more and pointed it at the bar stool. The assassin, as manly and as strong as he was, he could not deny her pleas. All he could do was smile nervously at her and sit at where she instructed him to sit. “Sooo… what are you making?” he asked her.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach Hrairoo waited just outside the kitchen, unsure whether it should approach its tamer who seemed to be focused on something. The girl already made a mess of part of the floor due to the spilled sack of flour and the rabbit did not want to be a part of that. It sensed trouble brewing and so the frenmic rabbit ran back down the hall, into the samurai’s bedroom and promptly went back to sleep in the cave of plushies. Around the same time, Kyuu was still mulling over her ideas when their guild leader walked in. She had expected him to scold her for making a mess of the place, but she would have accepted that if only he would stay to ‘help’ with her experimentation. So, when Ryuu turned to leave, the chef would not let him. She tugged at his shirt repeatedly and rather forcefully too until he sat down on a nearby stool.
Kyuu did not answer his question just yet. She rummaged through some drawers and left calamity in her wake until she found a quill, some ink and paper. In the back of her mind she wished for someone to invent a ballpoint pen already; quills were rather annoying. That’s an idea for a different time though. The chef just needed something that she could write with. The wrinkled paper and cumbersome quill were enough so she set them upon the counter. Only then did Kyuu notice that Ryuu could easily slip away if he wanted to. She needed a test subject so escape was not allowed. Kyuu left the quill and paper on the counter while she walked over to Ryuu and gestured for him to stand up. She then pulled the stool close to the counter in front of her piece of paper, and then she made Ryuu sit down on it again. And finally, the vertically-challenged girl hopped onto their guild leader’s lap to effectively pin him onto the chair while she was busy with her plans.
On the piece of paper, Kyuu crudely drew the confectionery which she had in mind. With the ingredients that she had on hand, it would be too complicated to make cakes, caramels and other things that would take some time to set. Konpeito was out of the question because, although it was simple enough to make, the process itself was so repetitively and mind-numbingly boring. Only those with much patience could ever make konpeito, or so the girl thought. She remembered the time well-spent with her relatives in Asia; she had learned much from them. Her grandparents sent wagashi every end of the year and that was something that she looked forward to. With that idea in mind...
“ What’s your favorite wagashi? “ she asked Ryuu without turning to look at him.
The chef was still preoccupied with her really bad drawings, what with her not being a scribe and all, but she would listen to what her friend would say. If he had a good reason for liking specific wagashi, then perhaps she could incorporate that into what she was going to make. However, if he did not like wagashi... ‘disappointed’ would be an understatement. Kyuu would be beyond disappointed if Ryuu did not like wagashi. For the time being, she focused on the plans on her piece of paper and noted three recognizable shapes on it. A cube-like drawing could possibly be a rather ancient confectionery, ‘yokan’. Kyuu drew some fat spiky leaves around it which indicated, and badly at that, that the main ingredient was aloe vera. There was also a smaller leaf near the yokan drawing; the chef meant for that to be ‘mint’. Another drawing was circular with some squiggly lines in the middle. It was her way of drawing a nerikiri though those things usually varied in appearance anyway. The chef drew a flower and some obviously flat leaves around it; that indicated the use of chamomile or oregano for the nerikiri. Caerbannog then leaned back a little and used Ryuu as a back rest as if she was sitting on a proper chair.
“ I’m making poison- “ she finally answered the assassin’s earlier question. The pause made for a good laugh or two, then she continued, “ -resistance. Poison resistance things. And other resistance too. “
The last drawing on the piece of paper was a half circle with blood oozing out of the middle. Ah no, it wasn't blood, just spilled ink. It would have been difficult to decipher by an untrained eye, and even by a trained eye, so for simplicity’s sake let’s just say that it was a daifuku. The long finger-like scribbles beside the bleeding half circle pertained to chili peppers. It would be an odd collection of wagashi but useful if Kyuu succeeded. The chef finally put down her quill on the counter, and then she looked up at Ryuu and tried to poke his nose. She would try to do it repeatedly.
“ Hey hey... hey listen, “ Kyuu annoyed the assassin on purpose just because, “ Help me cook? Please oniichaaaaan~ ? “

Of course she wouldn’t answer him. She’s going to kill me! he thought to himself, making a nervous expression. Each movement she made, each bit of ingredient she pulled out, he wasn’t sure what to do. When she pulled out the quill, ink, and paper, Ryuu shook his head at the items she had brought out. It truly was an experiment for her. She was going to log every bit of information and log how Ryuu would react to each and every piece of food she forced him to eat. He looked at all the ingredients that were on the table and could not think of how these things would go together well. He was no cook, and while he never really cooked sweet things in reality, he still knew the basics of it. He looked towards his office and how close it was to get to, and then he looked back at Kyuu. Chance! or so he thought, until Kyuu walked over to him and ordered him to stand up. He looked at her and then sighed. Nuuuu! he exclaimed in his head, while maintaining his happy, nervous look. She pulled the stool he sat on earlier and placed it where she was sitting and ordered him to sit there. After he did so, she sat on his lap. He was surprised by the act, unsure of what to do. He wanted to push her off and shake his head, but he was sort of stuck. Partially, it was his male instincts that made him freeze, unable to do much.
“Ano-sa,” he started, trying to maintain his dignity and willpower, “Orite kudasai,” he said to her, trying to make her get off of him. Well, thankfully, his willpower was holding up pretty well, but he wasn’t sure how long it’d last, and what Kyuu would be doing in the meantime on his lap… like bouncing up and down, moving, all of it. He wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the innocent 20 year old that had placed herself on his lap, there were really two things that came to mind. She was either really innocent and dense (the one most likely) or she really did have a thing for Ryuu (the one less likely according to 4th wall sources). Whether she got off or not, it was entirely up to Kyuu, so in the case that she did not get off, and instead exacerbated the problem, Ryuu would think of grapefruits… No one liked grapefruits, especially when there was no sugar with them. Or Durian. Durian was probably worse. He’d think of that too… a Durian and Grapefruit smoothie… the thought made him cringe. That would definitely keep his manhood in check.
She then asked him a question about wagashi Ryuu thought for a second and smiled at the thought of it. Oh this was going to be terrible. If he thought of it for too long, he may lose control of his body, so after he said “Mochi,” he began thinking of Durian and Grapefruit Mochi, which made him want to vomit, but he held it in. This woman is going to kill me, he thought to himself, sighing loudly at the ordeal he was being placed in. “And Taiyaki!,” he said. Typical food of the Japanese anime girl, but he really liked it, either filled with red bean or custard.
She began drawing, and the shapes were unmistakable of what she was trying to make. The first being Yokan, was a jellied dessert that was often used along green tea. She put leaves which looked like the Aloe vera he had seen earlier. Then she drew something like a nerikiri, a softer version of a mochi. She drew flowers and leaves, which made him confused, as he wasn’t sure what they meant. His knowledge of flowers were poor, and the only one he knew of for usage of food was chrysanthemum and roses.
She finally answered his question with “poison”. He stared at the back of her head, with an expression of disbelief and utter fear. “Heh, poison?” he laughed nervously. She finished it off with “poison-resistance stuff” which calmed him down slightly. He then wondered. “Wait… if this is poison resistance stuff… how are we testing if it’s poiso-,” he stopped as he answered his own question. Yabai! he thought, trying his best to try and weasel his way out, but any movement from him meant taking his mind off the terrible thoughts of Durian and Grapefruit. What she put down last was a big blob of ink? He looked at it, tilting his head trying to figure out what it was, but to no avail, he couldn’t figure it out. “What is that?” he asked noting the chili pepper next to it. Oh my… I’m so gonna die, he thought, trying to steel his mind for whatever was about to come.
“Do I have to?” he asked, and then he looked at his lap and then her, “I mean.. okay, I’ll help you,” whatever gets you off my lap sooner,. A half said and half thought, knowing that it was probably better she didn’t know why he wanted her off of his lap.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach Kyuu was a bit surprised that the assassin was willing to help her out. She knew that food experimentation wasn’t exactly a good way to start anyone’s day, much less his since he was the guild leader. And so the girl remained quiet for a while as she looked over her drawings. Occasionally, she swung her legs to keep them from going numb. What with the stool so high, her feet could not touch the floor after all. Still, she wondered why he was being compliant that day, and then it occurred to her-
“ Hmmm... Ryuu-oniichan is strange today... is it because of THAT? “ Kyuu turned to her friend just then and squinted at him.
She waited for an answer but expected him to deny it. And what was she talking about? The bunny-harassing incident, of course. Her fellow samurai told her about that occurrence (unintentionally) and without a doubt, it was one assassin named ‘Kumori’ who harassed some frenmic rabbits. Another question that crossed her mind was the significance of the letter F. A few more moments passed by while she still waited for an answer, and whether he spoke up or not, the girl would soon bring up more questions.
“ Why do you harass bunnies? “ was the first one, followed by, “ And why F? “
After a while, Kyuu decided to get her research underway, finally, and went to get the ingredients from the cupboards. Being a person of Japanese ancestry, she had all sorts of bean pastes and different types of rice flour in some of the storage items. There was a jar of shiro-an, or white bean paste, and a sack of mochiko, which was specifically Japanese rice flour. The consistency of the items seemed close enough to real world standards so the chef purchased them some time ago. St. Pancras Station had gotten crowded over the last few days what with more crafters testing their mettle, but the upside was that there was a larger variety of materials to choose from.
Aside from the jar of shiro-an and sack of mochiko, Kyuu also took out a jar of white sugar and set it beside the herbs for her wagashi. Why were the kettles so up high though? The chef had to pull up a chair to get a tea kettle from one of the cabinets, and that was where she spotted her most worthy adversary. The girl stared into the cabinet for a while and then she closed the thing. She then hopped off the chair, wordlessly cleaned up the tea kettle with warm water and soap, but some water in it and set the kettle on the stove for it to boil. By the time that Kyuu turned towards Ryuu, her face was completely pale as if she’d just seen a ghost. She walked over to his side, clung tightly to his right arm while she buried her face against it, and lastly, the brave samurai pointed at the cabinet from which she’d taken out the tea kettle.
“ G-gokiburi... “ she mumbled.

Kyuu began swinging her legs and therefore moving her body, which was not fun for Ryuu as he tried to hold in his male urges. It’s almost over, almost over, he reminded himself, trying to get him through the ordeal without any embarrassing incident. But one would wonder if Kyuu would actually know if such a thing occurred… if she knew what it meant and how to act or how not to act. The writer’s impressions are that she wouldn’t know, and that if he was, all of a sudden, excited, she wouldn’t think it was any different. It was actually rather dangerous, now that he thought about it. He wondered if he was the one who had to tell her about the birds and the bees. Wait… Mr. Schwarz didn’t tell her about them? I don’t expect her mom to have done so… oh my…. he said as he wanted to place his face into his palms.
Kyuu all of a sudden turned to him. She said he was strange and all he could do was look at her, wondering if she finally came to the realization of what they were doing was a bit too close and personal, even at a sibling level. They weren’t 8 year olds, they were full grown adults. This was the time where the awkward silence came about. The “what are you talking about” face was coming up, while trying to keep his willpower high. “Huh? Because of what?” he asked. He was trying to figure out what she was talking about. Her question made him think that it wasn’t related to the situation at all. Since, that usually referred to something distant, it had to have been something that he had done earlier to wrong her. He was trying to think of what, but all he could think of was the fact that he forced her to go on some quests with him, but she did the same when he didn’t want to. “Frenmic bunnies?” he thought for a second, and then his thoughts went to the Samurai he had met yesterday. That monkey butt! They had an agreement. No one was supposed to know about the bunnies, and yet he had told Kyuu, the one he knew would take it terrible. Wait, did she just say harass? Ryuu tilted his head and then answered: “Umm, they were harassing another player who didn’t know how to fight, so I helped him out and helped him kill some slimes after I made the rabbits go away,” he said to her, hoping that she would believe it. He noted to himself that he needed to tell Wermut about the betrayal. He hoped his lie was enough to move on to the next subject, which was the F that he stitched in every one of the clothes he made.
He remembered he had never told Kyuu about her. About Fuyu. He wasn’t sure how to break it to her, rather, he thought it was best he never told her about it, but he had made the mistake of making his crafts a tribute to her. He wouldn’t be able to get away from the topic, so he would tell her. “Her name was Fuyu… my sister,” he said to her, “but it’s a sad story, and unless you want to listen to it now, I can tell you another day,” he said to her.
Finally, the girl removed herself from his lap. Ryuu breathed heavily, breathing in and out deeply. He was so relieved that she was no longer on his lap and was gathering ingredients that he was able to step down from the stool and stretch. While she worked with the ingredients, Ryuu sat back onto the stool after stretching and then looked through his messages to see if there were anything that would pull him away from this torture. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to find anything to make a substantial excuse, and so he was stuck here. After she went to the sink, she went towards Ryuu. He looked at her and she was pale. Why she was pale? Ryuu didn’t know, he was looking through his messages! Well, the word that came out of her mouth explained it all. A cockroach. He looked at the cabinet she was pointing at and Ryuu patted her head as he stood on the chair and pulled out a throwing knife. The guard alarms went off, but he wasn’t attacking another player, so it shouldn’t have mattered. As soon as he opened the cabinet door, he saw the culprit and threw the knife at it. It made for a better tool than the broom, as it ensured the doom of the cockroach. He showed the cockroach to Kyuu, half tempted to bring it close to her face, but he knew that would only end poorly for him, so he simply placed it into the trash can and cleaned his knife of the gunk. “Gokiburi dead,” he said.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach The topic about Fuyu seemed to be a sensitive matter for Ryuu, so the chef did not inquire any further. She was surprised that he had an actual sister, but whatever happened to her was a story for some other time. Kyuu was dense, but not THAT dense after all. She was still sensitive to some matters of feels and of the heart, and she did in fact know about the birds and the bees mostly due to having played eroge and having read hentai, but this and that were different things for her. One could say that she did not equate 2D things with 3D happenings- strange, yes?
Anyway, back to the most evil thing in the kitchen: Gokiburi-sama. It was soon killed off by the bunny-harassing assassin, much to Kyuu’s relief. After she was a hundred percent sure that the cockroach was dead, the chef went over to the tea kettle of boiling water. She turned the stove off and poured some hot water into a small bowl. The girl then put that bowl on the counter close to her other ingredients and proceeded to use a small knife and a board to chop up the chamomile flowers. She had removed the blossoms from the rest of the plant, crushed them first and after that, she chopped it up finely. The chamomile pieces were then scooped into the hot water where they would have to sit for three to five minutes. Kyuu would know if the tea was ready due to the change in fragrance and color.
Next, she had to prepare her shiro-an and mochiko mixture. Kyuu looked for a small iron pot and put it on the stove with the fire on its lowest setting. She then put some shiro-an, or sweetened white bean paste, into the pot as it was heating up. She mixed it with a wooden spoon and heated the paste while the chamomile was being infused into the hot water. That was soon done, indicated by the consistency of the paste which no longer stuck itself onto her wooden spoon. The chef turned the stove off and put some mochiko in a mixing bowl along with a small amount of sugar. She checked the chamomile tea and determined that it was not quite ready, so instead of rushing it, the chef went back to her shiro-an. With a small ceramic bowl in one hand and her wooden spoon on the other, Kyuu put a bit of the paste into the bowl. She then walked back to the counter and set the ceramic container beside the larger mixing bowl.
“ Will guard come over if I poison Ryuu-oniichan? “ she suddenly asked the assassin.

Poison? Did he really sign up for this? Oh how he wanted to leave now. The door was right there, and he could leave now, just up and leave. He was ready to bolt, but he knew that if he did, he’d just get it later. He sighed and conceded to his ‘arrest’ in the kitchen of Caerbannog. The beast was about to bare her metaphorical fangs at him with a poison she bought from someone. He seriously thought that the wolf ears were actually devil horns. She just didn’t admit it, because she wanted to seem all innocent. Think about it. She acts all dense and stuff, only to make you think she’s like that, but in reality, she has some kind of master plan going on. Manipulation, I tell you. She’s so good at it, that it just comes naturally. At this point, Ryuu would probably do anything for her so long as it didn’t mean hurting his pride. He sighed as he looked at the vial and gulped before attempting to down it without vomiting.
“I don’t know, but I guess we’re going to find out anyways, right?” he sighed. “How much of this am I taking?” he asked trying to clarify so he didn’t have to go through too much pain. He sighed as he eyed the liquid that he held in his hands. He was already regretting having to do this, but you know, he was going to anyways. He promised he’d do it, so he was going to do it. “Only for you…” he sighed at the bottle. “Should I take it now, or after you’re done making the food?” he asked.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach When Kyuu pulled out the bottle of evil-looking greenish liquid which was Capsule’s Impure Poison, she did not think that Ryuu would try to drink it immediately. The chef’s eyes widened when he took the bottle and seemed to be way too ready to drink the noxious liquid. Kyuu immediately grabbed his hand which held the Impure Poison and put her other hand up to cover his mouth. “ NO! “ the girl screamed so suddenly that her voice echoed down the empty halls, “ It’s poison RESISTANCE, Baka-Ryuu! Food first, poison after! “The chef put her hands down and went back to what she was doing once everything was clear to her guinea pig. She also pried the bottle out of his hand and set it upon the counter. Her chamomile tea was done so Kyuu pulled another small bowl close to her. She put some of the mochiko and sugar mixture in it, then measured some spoonfuls of the chamomile tea into the dry ingredients. The girl then combined the wet and dry components completely to create a mixture called ‘gyuhi’. Lastly, she added small amounts of shiro-an into the gyuhi component and stirred it thoroughly until there was an appropriate ratio of shiro-an to gyuhi. The result was a yellowish nerikiri base but the chef was not done. Caerbannog used a spoon to scoop up a small amount of the nerikiri base. She flattened it in her hand and then she scooped some shiro-an onto it. The girl then put her spoon down and rolled up the wagashi in her hands so that the nerikiri base would cover the shiro-an, and so the white bean paste was just a filling for her confection. The sweetness of that paste could probably offset the slight bitterness of the chamomile nerikiri. She flattened the yellowish ball halfway onto a saucer, and then she used the handle of a fork to create ridges on the wagashi. Kyuu then looked over to Ryuu who, she was sure of it, was going to bail at any moment. The girl pulled the stool over to that side of the counter and pushed the assassin onto it. She then took the Impure Poison and the saucer of chamomile nerikiri in her hands, one item in each, and pinned down the assassin by sitting on him- again. The only difference was that this time, Kyuu was facing Ryuu with her chest up against his, and she glared up at her guild leader. “ Eat it then wait for buff, “ Kyuu said as she pushed the saucer of chamomile nerikiri towards Ryuu’s face, “ Then use Impure Poison. “

Oh hell no! She did not just sit on him again! Oh wait… this is kinda comfy. Wait a second! Manipulation! The girl who Ryuu thought was innocent pushed him onto the stool after stopping him from drinking. She accentuated the fact that it was poison resistance and not an antidote. Ryuu looked at the vial and then placed it back down, sighing in relief. He was about to really take the whole thing, right then and there. At this point, he was stuck, he mind as well suffer until the very end.
After being pushed onto the stool, Ryuu sighed as he was forced to sit once again. Wasn’t his promise that he’d cooperate be enough? According to this samurai, it was not, and she did it again, but this time, her chest was facing him. She was shorter than him, so when he looked down, he got plain view of her breasts. Ryuu quickly turned away from her and tried very very hard not to do something he would regret. “Are you going to sit on me the entire time I take this? I mean, I can stand by myself…” Oh who was he kidding? He was caught in the worst position possible. She really wanted to test his willpower. With each of these tests, his willpower was gradually decreasing. He wasn’t sure what to do about it other than nod and hope for the best. He hoped for the miracle that the samurai would get off of him and let him sit normally, but this was Kyuu he was talking about. Normal was never in her vocabulary to begin with.
After he took the confectioner, he looked at it and gulped. He honestly hoped this would work out well, or he’d be in the restroom for a month, and the restroom would be deemed a biohazard. He had just cleaned it, too. He popped the thing into his mouth. After he chewed and chewed, he began to notice the different flavor profiles that she had placed in it. It was sweet, but the bitterness had offset it enough to keep it balanced. Each bite he took, more sweetness came out, and it was good. He nodded towards the chef and gave his approval. He waited for a few seconds, and then the poison resistance buff came on. He looked at Kyuu and then nodded with hesitation. “How many trials are we going to do this? One… right?” he asked. Well, if it wasn’t one, he’d be very sad, as it would mean he’d be poison for however long the poison worked for. He hated stomach aches and hated diarrhea more. He looked nervously at Kyuu for instruction and followed the completely.
After eating the confectioner, he drank a bit of the poison in order to make sure he didn’t get too sick.

Kyuu considered headbutting him but she thought about the Guard System. What if she made it look like an accident by pushing him over and making him hit his head on the floor? Then she could force the food down his throat and follow it up with Impure Poison. Oh hey wait, he talked to her. Why was he looking away though?
“ It’s impolite to not look at the person that you’re talking to... “ Kyuu squinted at the assassin; not that he’d see the squinting, his eyes were on something else anyway.
She did not answer the thing about sitting on him. There’s no way that she’d let him, the only other living creature in the guild house aside from Hrairoo and herself, leave that kitchen. Perhaps Gokiburi-sama’s cousins were around, but Kyuu would not bother to find out. Instead she pushed the confection towards Ryuu’s face until he finally ate it. His expression seemed positive and when Ryuu turned to look at her again and even gave a nod, the chef smiled from ear to ear and then shoved Impure Poison at the assassin’s face.
“ Just one will do, tell what you feel when poisoned? “ she said as she took the bottle of poison back from Ryuu once he was done with it. She then stared at the assassin and waited for any change that would indicate that the poison kicked in, “ Well~? “
Wait a minute. She slid off Ryuu’s lap when she remembered how poison affected her before. It wasn't pretty. Kyuu backed off far, far away from the assassin and moved all of her ingredients and cooking materials to the other side of the counter. She then decided to work on the next confection to avoid having to deal with whatever Ryuu was going to go through. Well... not really. She was slightly worried. Okay, plenty worried about the effects of Impure Poison once it dawned upon her that she just knowingly made her friend take the darn thing. And all for the name of science research too.
The chef had a worried expression on her face as she walked over to the stove and put the tea kettle of water on it again. It was still hot but she needed boiling water instead. The girl then turned the fire up to its highest setting so that the water would be boiled quickly. She hopped over to the counter, took the oregano leaves and went over to the sink to wash them. Every now and then she glanced at the tea kettle and then at Ryuu. The effect of Impure Poison should kick in before the water began to boil. And if her chamomile nerikiri worked, her friend should not feel as sick as he usually would even under the influence of such a potent potion by the pharmacist Capsule.

It really wasn’t a good look, this position. He tried his hardest not to do anything he would regret and tried to keep his willpower going. He could feel his grip on his instincts loosening, and had to think of grapefruits and durians again. The sudden disgust of the two fruits and forced him to mentally gag and so he regained control of his willpower. “I’m sorry, I thought I saw something,” he said as he attempted to make it look like he was looking out of the kitchen window. After she refused his request of getting off and pushing the confection into his face, he ate and gave his response. After he had given her his approval, she was happy… well more so ecstatic. He then looked at the poison once again, turning it around, examining it as if trying to find an out for it, or at least even a way to say how to cure it. Unfortunately for him, there was no such thing. Damn it, he thought. He looked at it and then back at Kyuu. Kyuu promptly remembered what it was like to be poisoned, so she moved away and moved everything else that was in the kitchen away. Was the poison this bad? Wait… this is my… no… I can’t. I promised, he thought, contemplating his escape. He opened the vial up and breathed in deeply and then breathed out loudly. The assassin placed the vial to his lips and gulped before tipping it to allow gravity to take the liquid and run its course inside of him.
Ryuu waited for a few minutes, wondering if Kyuu had created something that would really sto-. I spoke too soon. Ryuu’s face turned into horror as he was beginning to feel the effects. He got up straight away and then went towards the restroom. He closed the door, quite thankful that the room was sound proof, as he began unloading all the contents he had just eaten, and probably all the contents he had eaten just 3 hours ago. Which way did it come out of? I’ll let you decide. While it wasn’t as severe as a normal poison would’ve been, it was still terrible to somewhat willfully go through such torture. After he had finished unloading his cargo bay, Ryuu opened the windows of the bathroom to allow the air to circulate, whether it be vomit or diarrhea, the smell would be quite pungent. Ryuu washed his hands and then headed out the door. After he closed the door behind him, moving himself slowly towards the kitchen with hand on his belly, the only reaction he saw from his dear friend was to continue cooking. If Ryuu was feeling a bit better, he’d have facepalmed. Unfortunately, he still felt a little ill, and so he had to deal with it as he moved towards the counter, now clear of all the ingredients. “Please tell me we’re not trying anymore poison,” he said, not sure if his stomach could handle anymore. “Also… It didn’t feel as bad. I don’t feel like I have to go-“ Ryuu placed his other hand over his mouth. How many times would he have to do this? He ran towards the restroom again and upchucked stomach acid and even more food than he realized he had in his body at that moment. The door had closed right as he flushed the toilet. He washed his hands, but he had no crummy feeling any longer. He sighed happily as he turned around towards Kyuu. “I think I feel better now, but… please please please tell me, I don’t have to do that again…” he said concerned about his own safety. He wasn’t sure what would happen when Kyuu was in charge, but usually when she was testing things, they never ended well for him. She wanted to test the potency of Poison Resistance against the other drug, and while her only guinea pig was the least likely to hate her when she tested terrible things, it did not mean he enjoyed it. Rather, he hated it because of all the pain he had to go through in one day. For this next one, he really hoped it’d be something he could handle a better than how he handled the poison.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach The poison affected Ryuu as anticipated and it wasn’t pretty of course. But he only drank a small amount, not the whole vial so that accounted for some semblance of mercy from Kyuu at least. Moreover, the chamomile nerikiri did as it was supposed to which was to provide a slight resistance to the noxious potion, probably around ten percent of such. Why did Ryuu still feel horribly sick then? Probably because Capsule made very potent crafts, and that Impure Poison in particular was around Level 10. Kyuu’s wagashi on the other hand was of not too good a quality since she was still researching it. Perhaps the experimentation could be repeated at a later time? At the assassin’s expense, again.
Meanwhile, the water in the tea kettle boiled over so Kyuu took off the lid and put two large, fresh leaves of oregano in it. That one she had to watch carefully since overboiling it would create a very bitter tea. In the real world, oregano was used both as herbal medicine and as flavoring for dishes. Fresh oregano could be boiled and drank as a home remedy for colds and coughs, probably owing both to tradition and to modern researches that analyzed the plant as having antioxidants, minerals and vitamin K. The chef did not like having to drink oregano tea back in the real world but she couldn’t overlook its benefits. She hoped that the same effects were somewhat retained by the Elder Tale system.
After a few minutes, Kyuu checked the boiled oregano leaves and determined them to be ready. She turned off the stove and poured out the liquid into a tea cup which she then set down on the counter. Oregano tea had a brownish color which intensified the longer it was boiled, so she would have to do something about that tint. The chef took out a mortar and pestle, something that pharmacists use as a basic tool as she’d seen from Capsule, and then she put one oregano leaf in it. Kyuu crushed the leaf as thoroughly as she could to bring out the greenish liquid, but it would only be used to dye the nerikiri that she intended to make.
The wolf-hair looked up when Ryuu returned to the kitchen a second time. He seemed rather pale, an expected effect of the poison. The chef left her station to check on her friend whose arm she grabbed and promptly set him down on the stool. She did not sit down on his lap again though, but instead checked if he was too cold to the touch by gently patting his cheek. He did feel a bit cool but it did not seem serious, so at that Kyuu playfully poked Ryuu’s nose and went back to her mortar and pestle.

He wasn’t surewhat to expect, but he was never a fan of herbal teas. Asians were big on the stuff, and quite frankly, he was willing to pass on the oregano tasting food if he could, but when was his luck ever that good? He kept his head planted on the counter, using the tiles as a comforter for his head. He was not looking forward to the herbal confection. He stood up to try and walk a little bit, but Kyuu grabbed his arm to sit him back down and felt his cheeks. They were colder than normal, and he was definitely paler than normal. “What’s next?” he asked, hoping it wasn’t poison. She then poked his nose, and he wrinkled it in reaction to it.

Subclass: Chef | Tools: Cooking Utensils | Researching: Box of Resistance - :: - Skill: Iron Stomach Ryuu clearly was not well enough for the experiment food test to continue. Perhaps some tea would do him well, the chef thought, but her chamomile one had gone cold already. She wasn’t sure if it would taste the same if heated up again; she wasn’t a brewer after all, and it was only due to either luck or partially her chef subclass that allowed her to do it right the first time. Before the oregano tea got cold though, Kyuu began to shape the shiro-an and mochiko mixture which was still a bit warm. The wolf-hair took a different bowl to mix some oregano into the nerikiri base. Just a teaspoon of the bitter herb tea was enough; that was for certain. She mixed the base and the tea thoroughly until the nerikiri was no longer runny. The chef then took a drop of the green oregano extract and mixed that in too which resulted in a fairly natural-looking greenish hue. It was quite unlike the green food coloring which was used in real world food items. Pleased with the outcome, the chef scooped up a small amount of the mixture and formed a small ball which she flattened in the palm of her hand. Kyuu then put some of the sweet shiro-an onto the flattened nerikiri and the sides were folded in afterwards. Unlike the first nerikiri, a puffier shape was retained which was slowly and carefully molded to a flower-like appearance with a natural greenish hue. The wolf-hair set it aside on a plate to later use or for storage. Afterwards, the girl put some more nerikiri in the chamomile bowl and put some of the yellow tea in it again. She mixed it thoroughly and scooped up a small amount which she then flattened over her palm. By then the chef was used to making such basic shapes, so she put a small amount of the sweet shiro-an into the nerikiri and closed up the confection until all of the white paste was enveloped in yellowish shiro-an and mochiko mix. Kyuu made out a shape similar to the first nerikiri that she made, and by then it was apparent that she created another chamomile nerikiri. The chef then walked over to her brother who was quite unwell due to the effects of Impure Poison. She took his hand and put the confection in it, smiled up him and touched his cheek with the back of her right hand so as not to put any sweets on his face. He did not look good and could use some time to recover, she thought; anyway, she had to look up a poison or monster that could induce sleep anyway. Or perhaps a fellow adventurer who had that skill could help her out? Either way, Ryuu had to rest. “ Chamomile not just for poison, good for resting to, “ she said. The chef then turned to the counter and gathered up what was left of her ingredients, including the oregano nerikiri that she made. She cleaned up the mess thoroughly and did not leave a single speck on the counter. Anything that belonged to the kitchen drawers and cabinets were put back in place, and the floor was also cleaned up. She waited for Ryuu to get up to make sure that he wouldn’t fall over if he was feeling too ill, and she’d help him to his bedroom if needed. Afterwards, the samurai would return to her cave and sleep in some more with little Roo. OOC Notes: Post #2 for Sleep Resistance Confection. EXIT.
