[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]BALORE [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Xavier Cross [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: Twenty-one [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: original, PIXIV FANTASIA [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Falfura [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]The character Balore was created to match it's creator very closely in all aspects. His avatar is a rather handsome looking man with strong features who at a glance, even with no armor on, you can tell he is a knight. A strong, regal chin, and piercing blue eyes are the first noticeable feature about this guardian upon first meeting him. His gaze is usually strong and incredibly stern as he is the sort to create, enforce, and be a stickler for the rules and laws. In the game his hair is a long and spiky white in color that falls down to just past his shoulders in length and seems to be well kept. His avatars body also reflects the station he holds in game being well toned. Balore has a body type that is in between a medium athletic and a super buff body. His muscles are toned as they would be for a veteran swordsman who has seen much combat. As for his height, Balore stands at an impressive 6'3" and often towers over most of the people that he meets. Although he is so tall he carries himself with a confident stride, every step has purpose and seems somewhat more graceful than you would expect from such a tall person. The main difference between Balore the avatar and Xavier the person can really be summed up in eye and hair color differences. Xavier has brown eyes in real life and a rather dark brown colored hair. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]By any scale Balore can be considered to be a "Lawful Good" character. He loves to know the rules in any environment that he is in and prefers to abide by them rather strictly as part of his code of honor. He takes his class seriously as a guardian and is also one of the many who was heavily into the role-playing aspect of the MMORPG world. He sees himself as an honorable and chivalrous knight who is sworn to protect and uphold the ideals of honor and justice in a world that has no laws currently. He can come off as rather stern in this regard and is often referred to as a stick in the mud. By no means however is Balore entirely boring despite his strict personal codes. He has a sense of humor and laughs often at the stupidest of jokes. While most would probably sweat at how lame the joke was, Balore would be doubled over on the ground laughing as if it was just created. He is a rather calm person at all times though he does have a temper when things are not exactly going as he believes they should. His temper is not so bad that he loses control but his words are often rather cruel and to the point. Normally though he is one to sugar coat the truth even though he knows it can hinder someone more than it helps at times. As an overwhelming personality flaw he is fearless until he encounters spiders. In any world spiders are the most terrifying anti-christ demon beast that he can imagine. This often means that his defense is shaky and he is more likely to flee the field rather than stand and fight. Otherwise there are not many things that he is actually afraid beyond the eight legged monstrosities. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]The world could be a cruel place if you let it get you down. Yet for the man known as Xavier Cross that statement rung truer than it did for most. At a very young age he was in an accident that rendered his legs useless and left him bound to a chair. For the longest time this left him feeling alone, different, and useless to the rest of society. His entire school life at a young age was miserable as he felt like the freak show in a chair that everyone pitied. Yet despite it all he drew the courage to continue from his father who was a member of the military. It was his father who instilled him what it took to be a hero, to do what was right even when it was hard. The fact that the hardened man did not give up on his wounded son was a powerful motivator. It was this that inspired him to be a hero, no matter what the odds. In his life he has been beaten several times due to his need to jump and save people despite lacking the ability to do so. Yet he believes it is his honor as a man that is on the line if he doesn't find a way to help those in need. Things were slowly starting to look up for the boy until an unfortunate visit from the services left him even more wounded than his accident. The worst news a boy could get had been delivered to his family; his father was now K.I.A. Struck with grief, Xavier did the exact opposite of lay down and die! He stepped up to provide for his family, though on nights when he was alone he would drift into the world of Elder Tale, a place where he could forget the troubles of the real world. In fact, the night before the "Catastrophe" happened he had made a wish before falling asleep at his desk. He wished that he could live in a world like Elder Tale. A world where a person like him could even change things with their own two hands, no matter who they were or what they were. This wish was one he made every day until it finally happened well into his adult life. The world would finally see fit to grant the poor man a brief respite from his worldly troubles and give him a second chance; a chance to be a hero! |

The Guardian provokes a single opponent and draws their attention. Because of this basic utility, it is a very simple skill mostly used by beginners. Of course, if there's only one opponent, why waste your time when you can stick with this classic? This skill has an animation time of 0.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Anchor Howl: A loud soundwave is generated from the Guardian's position. This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a user is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 1 second, maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Counter Break: Every force has an equal and opposite reaction. When attacked, the two options are usually to move out of the way or brace and block the attack somehow. However, some choose a third unusual option which is to face the attack head on with a display of power of your own. By literally attacking an attack with an attack, you not only mess up the collision point but you negate most of your opponent’s power using your own kinetic energy. Also, if you surpass your opponent in power sufficiently, it is possible to break apart the opponent’s attack so significantly that you can chain it into an attack of your own. This skill can only be used as a counterattack and it has a cooldown of 30 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Iron Will: Beginner Skill Guardians have dedicated themselves to protecting their party members. Their devotion has rubbed off on the party, increasing physical defense for the party by 5%. Multiple instances of this skill do not stack. [attr="class","skill"]Hammer Beat: Tier I Skill A skill that raises the shield or two-handed weapon over the Guardian's body, then crashes it down upon the enemy with a loud sound effect. If a monster struck by this attack is lower-leveled than the Guardian, it is almost guaranteed to shift aggro upon the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 2.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Knight's Heart: Tier I Skill Toggle skill. Conventions of medieval warfare made it so that even the most heavily-armored knights tended to become the most difficult to take down, thanks to their trusty mounts. These teachings form the basis of this skill. While almost essentially a must-have for Guardian-Cavalier hybrids, it is still a fairly useful skill in the right circumstances. This skill raises the Guardian's aggro-attracting presence while in a mounted state. If this skill is used by a Guardian whose subclass is Cavalier, then they also raise a 10% bonus to AGI while mounted. [attr="class","skill"]Aura Saber: Tier I Skill Swings the weapon around the user's body in a faint aura, then crashes it down upon the enemy. Multiple enemies can be struck by this attack by they are adjacent to the target. This skill increases targets' aggro on the user more than that of a regular attack. If this skill is used by Monks, the user will deliver an aura-enhanced swinging punch that delivers the same effects. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Timber: Toggle skill. Woodcrafters naturally have an affinity for chopping and carving wood, making their abilities key in harming monsters that happen to be arboreal in nature. Woodcrafters deal 20% more damage to Plant-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Plant-type monsters upon a successful hit. [attr="class","skill"]Jousting: Jousting: The Cavalier's specialization in horseback combat is revealed in their greater proficiency of lance combat. Any two-handed spears or polearms wielded by the Cavalier become one-handed while they are mounted. Additionally, if the Cavalier's main class would normally penalize them from using spears or polearms, this skill allows them to use spears and polearms without penalty. [attr="class","skill"]Shield Mastery: [Tier I Skill] Passive skill. As the premiere tank of Elder Tale, the Guardian's signature equip is their large shield. Even so, it's rather bulky and takes some time to get used to for most players. As Shield Mastery progresses, the apparent weight of the shield decreases and its defense increases. [attr="class","skill"]Stepover: [Tier I Skill] Traps are everywhere in a dungeon. Wired arrow traps, falling ceilings, spiked floors, crushing walls, perhaps even some of your teammates are traps themselves. In any case, this skill deals with providing the Guardian with the ability to temporarily reduce the damage taken from area hazards drastically and to override the obstacle to ultimately break the mechanism. By finding a way through an otherwise rigged pathway, it might be possible to find a shortcut. This skill has a duration of 10 seconds and a cooldown of 1 minute. [attr="class","skill"]Sword Rain Flurry: The user pierces the target in rapid succession, usually amounting to a single initiating strike plus an additional one every 10 levels. Sword Rain Flurry is an adapted version of the Swashbuckler's Dart-Tack Target, only performed with the intention of damaging the target rather than simply diverting its attention. Despite its name, this skill can be performed with any weapon type although thrusting-type weapons often perform most optimally. Each strike deals a moderate amount of damage, but the main downside is that the user is locked into this animation until the move is completed. This skill has an animation time of 0.5 seconds per strike. Its cooldown time is 10 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Cool Defense: Toggle skill; the Guardian taps into their mana and creates an additional line of defense between them and the opponent's attacks. For every blow that the target lands on the guardian, a small amount will be nullified. This defense is made all the more apparent when it comes to weak multiple-strike attacks. The Guardian's MP is slowly sapped as this skill remains active. [attr="class","skill"]Resilience: A passive ability of the Guardian. Due to their highly defensive class role, their HP regenerates faster outside of battle compared to other classes. Additionally, they regenerate a small amount of HP every couple of seconds. This passive battle healing is not very high, but it might prove to save one's life in the long run. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Gaisgeach – Level 27 – In the past, men fought not just for war but for sport. They lined up in front of gates and threw themselves at each other for the higher class. Some men were slaves, others were simply born into it. Some of these men were strong, others were weak, but they were all similar in their goal; to achieve the highest rank among the rest! To stand atop everyone else! To have their name be shouted, chanted, and cried out every time they stepped forth! Hundreds of thousands of men died chasing this dream, but one man never gave up. Not even in death… Upon failing when he was so close, in his final fight, the man cursed the world and swore that he would return some day and he would be crowned and his name engraved into the walls of the gilded room. His curse landed him here, in the heart of this armor. During battle, the wearer may hear his battle cries and shouts for glory upon wearing this armor. Covering the wearer head to toe, this is a full suit of metallic armor. Iron in its core but obsidian in color, it is a heavy but extremely protective set of metal. Yet it is not completely black; the trim and the edges have been colored white, as has the cloth underneath which protects the wearer from chafing. Along the neck of the chest piece, pure white fur from a northern wolf has been sewn in place. As for the armor itself, it is a mobile fortress. There are very few spaces where an outside force can injure the wearer and any holes have been covered up with either extremely strong chainmail or shifting plates that move with the user. However, there are slots which allow the body to breathe, lest the user die from heat exhaustion underneath. It is not suggested that one wears this in extremely hot weather. Underneath the chestplate in the center of the metal, the Funeral Parlor emblem has been burned into the metal. While convenient, they are a little more expensive than if you were to craft your own equips. [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Buaidh – Level 27 – The depths of the mines are where true nightmares lie and it takes a certain man to face them. Not one of greed, nor one of war, but a man who is patient, diligent, and unwavering in the face of beasts which tower over him. This axe was wielded by such a man long ago. He was brilliant in battle and hearty in the pub, always smiling no matter the situation. Over the years of fighting and working in the depths, this axe grew to trust the man who wielded it and protected him to their very last stand together. It took a horde of monsters to bring down this pair, and even now, they are willing to fight on against evil. Imbrued with the souls of the pairing, this axe glows in combat with a will to fight beside the wielder, unwavering even when the wielder is afraid. Some who have held this axe swear that there have been two others fighting beside them, cheering them on and charging forth alongside them. Made out of almost entirely metal, this battle axe is heavy to those who was mentally weak, but balanced in the middle for easy handle. The handle stretches for a total of four feet in length, half of it smoothed out, with the other half carved into and laced with a diamond design in the metal to aid with gripping it. Midway along the length of the shaft, there is a small bulge which circles the shaft, protecting the user from sliding their hand to high. At the pommel, there is another bulge to protect the user from accidentally releasing the axe and letting it slip free. At the head, there are two blades; one on each side of the shaft. The flattened base of the axe blades stretch for six inches before an incline creates a sharpened edge. The edges of the axes stretch outwards in both directions; three inches both ways for a total of a nine inch edge on both axe heads. The bottom four inches and top two inches curve slightly, allowing the user to not only chop, but slice. At the top of the shaft, there is an elongated spike, allowing the user to stab and pierce foes in front of them should they choose. At the bottom of the pommel, the Funeral Parlor emblem is engraved into the metal. A must have for days at the beach and camping trips! 2 x Potion of Nighteye L9: A potion made from a certain species of herbs that are said to have granted the People of the Land temporary night vision in the past. Due to the low quality of the solvents used to make this potion, it should be drank rather than used as eyedrops according to old Lander testimony. Upon being used, it tints the user's vision green and slightly increases their ability to see in the dark for a short period of time. Its duration and potency depends on the average level of ingredients used to make it. |
