A stray sunbeam shone through the dense branches overhead as Caerbannog made her way to the coastline of the River Thames. This time, she ventured out as a lone adventurer, but the samurai was anything but alone. By her side, there hopped the lovely silver-furred Hyzenthlay who would have been such a pretty thing if not for the bloodied club that she waved around. A few frenmic rabbits peeked through the low shrubs and bushes, curious of the sight what with an elite of their kind trailing along a biped. To them, the biped did not even seem impressive: a vertically-challenged, whiskerless, furless, long haired creature that stood on two legs instead of four. Hyzenthlay’s ears twitched as she heard murmurs beyond the bushes, something about “that tiny biped” and “her servant doe”. The enemic buster’s blood boiled. It seemed that she had to put her fellow rabbits in their proper place, which was beneath her heel. Without warning, the buster summoned two frenmic rabbits using her [Rabbit Repopulation] skill, and then her summons dove into the bushes to beat up the offenders. The murmurs soon died down and a bit of gold and some rabbit fur appeared in Caerbannog’s inventory. She did not take notice of the additional gold and items, and so the samurai continued her journey towards the coast of Thames. By the time that the pair reached their destination, they had two more frenmic rabbits trailing behind them. Landers and adventurers alike which looked at their direction jumped back at the sight, and when the samurai turned around, she realized that Hyzen’s summons had been walking around with their fur ruffled and stained red. But the wolf-hair was unmindful of the ruckus that their little group caused, and she quite liked the fact that the landers stepped out of her way due to the presence of the bloody rabbits. And so without further delay, Caerbannog made her way to the coastline of Thames. Unlike her previous venture, she has had some swimming practice and so all the work would not be left up to her companions.

The river seemed to stretch endlessly towards the horizon as Caerbannog’s eyes followed the flow of the Thames. Overhead, the sky was a brilliant blue, its color reflected by the river which made both equally beautiful. The sun shone above the adventurers of Elder Tale, and there was no cloud in sight save for a few wisps in the distance. It was a fine day for treasure hunting and considerably safe as well, as opposed to attempting to jump into the waters on a windy or stormy day. Little Caerbannog once again used her ‘armor’ Rote instead of the usual Zankapfel and yoroi. It had a lower defense rating but allowed her to move more freely and provided a speed boost as well. The vertically-challenged samurai was unarmed, save for her own arms, but she had her trusty iron chain on the Quick Swap slot. Instead of trying to slash around with an unwieldy blade against the pressure of the river’s deep waters, she could just rely on her raw strength and punch things to death. Not that she wanted to... if the girl could avoid it, she’d much rather get in and get out with everything intake, both on her end and her opponents’, if any. The wolf-hair walked farther into the river as each minute passed, and before she noticed, the water was already up to her chin. It was a sufficient depth for her to begin swimming, and so with just an ounce of fear outweighed by a ton of confidence, Caerbannog ducked beneath the water’s surface and swam into the depths of the Thames.

The water around her felt nice and cool, a refreshing difference as Caerbannog dived away from the heat of the sun. She did not have much practice but the samurai could remember the basics of swimming at least, that which was taught to her by her boyfriend Kumori. Their treasure hunt back then turned out pretty well despite the girl’s initial reluctance to move around in the water. While it was not obvious, the wolf-hair indeed had many fears that few people knew about, and only her fear of cockroaches was well-known in the real world. In Elder Tale, it was her fear of slimes that quite a lot of people knew of, with her fear of drowning relatively unknown in both worlds. As Caerbannog tested her own mettle against the waters of the Thames, Hyzenthlay’s summoned frenmic rabbit swam beside her and kept an eye on the samurai. It was a simple directive, to make sure that the samurai was unharmed, which Hyzen had given to the rabbit and one that it would carry out to the last of its breath. Frenmic rabbit summons were most curious since they were summons of a summon, technically; and even moreso, they had little personality of their own and only followed their summoner’s orders to the letter. The samurai swam deeper into the river Thames until the warmth of the sun upon the water’s surface no longer reached where she was. Caerbannog looked around her but could only see some fish creatures darting about, and the rocks that littered the area below her were still far beyond her reach. The frenmic rabbit beside the samurai began to gesture towards its face, and so the samurai kicked off and swam upwards until her face broke to the river’s surface. She gasped for air, as did the rabbit, and took in just enough for another dive.

The funny thing about diving and swimming about below the water’s surface was that one tended to lose track of where they were headed. The river bed was a much different terrain as compared to the rolling plains and mountains of the area around Londinium, and there was no sun beneath the waves which could tell one of their general direction. Caerbannog looked around her and noticed that she was more than a few meters away from the coastline, Hyzenthlay was but a speckle that waved something over her head. The other summoned rabbit which remained with Hyzen was just as small to Caer’s eyes, and the adventurers and landers who stayed away from the rabbits were just figures and blurs. The samurai began to breathe in and out faster as she realized that she was so far out into the river Thames. Without her noticing, her worries had suddenly piled up and Caerbannog was slowly edging towards a panicked state. A splash of water to her face brought the girl back to reality, and when she turned to look at the culprit, Hyzen’s summon threw a fish at her face. The flailing silvery denizen of the deep slapped Caerbannog right across the nose, twitched a few times for good measure, and promptly dove back into the water. The samurai let out an annoyed huff at the frenmic rabbit, but she knew that it was only looking out for her as directed by its summoner. The girl sighed and then she prepared herself for yet another dive into the Thames.

A few clouds began to roll over the river Thames as Caerbannog and her frenmic rabbit escort dove into the water once again. The fish creatures which had been swimming around earlier ducked into the rocks and stones on the river bed, far away from the samurai’s reach. Underwater, she was not sure how her skills could work exactly; even Denkosekka would have been dangerous to use since it provided a lightning armor. While pure water was not a conductor, the water in the Thames was anything but pure and so it would surely send out the electric current to the area around her and even the samurai herself could possibly be electrocuted. And so, using that skill for a speed boost to dive quickly towards the river bed was out of the question. Caerbannog swam towards the closest rocky outcrop, a place where some of the smallest schools of fish had hidden away. Since it was close to her and to the frenmic rabbit, it would be easy to reach and thus she would have time to actually check the rock and its sheltered contents before she had to rise to the surface for air. The wolf-hair stopped two meters away from the rock and so did the rabbit escort, though the latter wondered why the adventurer stopped. Suddenly, a silver cloud rushed between the two and disturbed the water around them; the school of fish had been alerted to the adventurer’s descent, and they swam away from the rock in fear of the biped. With that out of the way, the rock was theirs to be inspected. Caerbannog swam towards her destination, still wary of other creatures which could have been hiding in the darkness of that area. Though she was unarmed so that she could move freely, her iron chain was in the Quick Swap slot and could be equipped immediately if she needed to punch someone’s, or something’s, lights out. So far, no need for violence. That is, until the samurai espied a pair of golden yellow eyes that looked straight at her from the shadow of the rock. Caerbannog blinked at the thing, and it blinked back.

A familiar creature emerged from beneath the shadows of the rock which Caerbannog had approached. It had a long body and a leathery appearance, with barely a tapering tail end. It was an eel that resembled the real-world moray eel, a gentle creature except to those that it wanted to eat. So perhaps it wasn’t really Caer who drove the school of fish away, but the occupant of the rock itself. It wouldn’t have been happen with the fishes’ disturbance of its home, and would have eaten the intruders before driving the rest of them away. The samurai merely waved to the eel, unable to use Tongue of Nature to speak to it. But the eel had a few words of its own which Caer could clearly understand with her skill. [Git outta mah properteh!] it said with a frown, or what could be made out as a frown on its already frowny face. Caer Bear was rather wary of the creature’s temper, and so she decided to leave it alone for a while. The wolf-hair gestured to her frenmic rabbit escort so that the two of them could swim up to the water’s surface. The rabbit had a cross look on its face, apparently having understood the eel’s rudeness. But the samurai prodded the furry creature and so it yielded and just settled for swimming up for a breath of fresh air. As the pair broke through the river’s surface, they noticed that the sky had grown considerably dark. There were now strong winds so it did not seem like a storm, but for sure it would rain soon. The water was already feeling cooler than usual since the sun’s light had been blocked out by the grey clouds. They had to finish the treasure hunt soon otherwise the water might become too cold for them to bear.

Hyzenthlay watched from the coastline as her tamer and her summon conversed for a moment. The enemic buster wanted to go to where her tamer was, but much like Caerbannog before the girl was taught how to swim by the assassin Kumori, Hyzen did not know how to deal with deep waters. And so the enemic buster could only watch in worry as the samurai and the frenmic rabbit dove into the river once again. A light pitter-patter began to echo on the river’s surface as a cool drizzle fell from the clouds. Adventurers and landers beside the Thames ran for shelter, quite ironic because they had been preparing to dive into the waters themselves. Hyzenthlay and her other summon hopped farther from the river to some low shrubs that managed to grow in that environment, and their wait for the samurai continued. In the Thames, Caerbannog swam towards the rock once again and was greeted by the annoying eel, but her frenmic rabbit escort was nowhere in sight. Determined to drive away the intruder, the eel slipped out of its home and revealed a very long, muscular body which could probably strangle Caerbannog if the eel so willed. Using the movement speed boost from her tailored clothing, the wolf-hair swam around the rock and the eel followed, while nearby the frenmic rabbit emerged from behind a school of fish and it swam towards the dark outcrop. The rabbit poked its nose in the dark and could see nothing but more rocks, until it bumped its head on something that sounded not quite as solid. The frenmic creature felt around for something that it could cling to, and soon its grabbed a handle on what seemed to be a porcelain vase. The eel eventually tired of chasing after Caerbannog and so it turned around towards its home. The creature’s yellow eyes scanned the darkness of its home, and once it noticed nothing out of the ordinary, it swam into the outcrop. But as it settled down into its rock, the eel did notice that something was different… THAT was gone… THAT important one…

[PEPITA! Oh how could yah leave me!? I only left a moment ter git the landwalker outta hurr!] the eel wailed, [Woe is me!]Behind one of the smaller rocks, surrounded by some investigative little fishes, the frenmic rabbit’s head popped out and it waved to the approaching Caerbannog. The samurai inspected the porcelain vase; the surface was still in good condition as expected of such material, and so she took one handle while the rabbit took the other, and they swam towards the surface of the water. They had already used up more than a minute’s worth of air and it was getting difficult to breath, but still they had enough time to swim up and away from the eel and its rocky home. Caerbannog was greeted by a faceful of more water even as she broke through the river’s surface, for the rain had increased its drumming onto the earth and sea. The samurai coughed up the rain water that had gotten into her mouth when she gasped for breath, and once the frenmic rabbit near her was ready, they both swam towards the riverside. Hyzenthlay and her other summon approached the river and they helped Caerbannog out of the Thames as soon as she reached shallow waters. The girl patted each rabbit’s head, knowing full well that once the other two were unsummoned they would be gone forever- they could at least have that moment of happiness as they were wordlessly praised by her. Hyzenthlay was more interested in what seemed to be a ‘treasure’ container of sorts though, and she sniffed at and poked the vase at every turn. The treasure inspection could wait until later; Caerbannog wanted a warm bath and a hot meal first.
