Virgin territory. It was Saskia’s first time looming into the mysteries of the enchanted moon dance forest. Her horse drifted a foot over the border, piercing the veil to a new uncharted land. The thrill of adventure tantalized her senses as she gazed out at the rich territory that loomed out ahead of her. The bloom of cherry blossoms and colorful flowers and an exquisite sunrise made for the most blissful ambiance any adventurer could possibly ask for. The sun cradled the ounces of sunlight that washed upon the wolf hair’s pale skin. The sound of bursting wildlife uttered through the forest as Icarus rustled through the fields.
A light neigh escaped the beasts mouth as his head nodded up and down while he trotted at a brisk pace. He was a gallant steed and a champion of a warhorse. He fought valiantly beside Saskia in countless battles and she practically raised him all her own and spents months training and preparing him for battle. He was by no means a timid colt lie when she first met him, but a fully mature beast capable of dishing out a nice chunk of damage. The most remarkable perk about being a cavalier was the boosted mobility that one held both in and out of combat. The sheer speed of the stallion was inexplicably magnificent as it stormed the battlefield.
It made pulling mobs exceptionally easier and maintaining aggro was no problem at all. Even assaulting multiple opponents at once was rather easy once one got the hang of it. While working in tandem with her horse, it often allowed her to be in two place at once, and provided additional cover for her comrades. Everywhere she went, it seemed as if the beast never left her side. Because of this, Saskia never truly felt alone. She felt an immense bond with the animal that could never quite be shattered due to their unwavering trust in one another.
She ran her fingers through his bright platinum blonde mane and smiled as they trotted onward, following a dirt path that beckoned them ever so deeper into the forest. Saskia was not privy to the creatures of the wilds, but she knew that most of them bordered between the levels of fifteen to approximately around level fifty. Her only reason for being out here was to simply study the creatures of the woods and analyze data that she could bring back to other members of Vylbrand Academy. We was curious about the various techniques and elemental weaknesses of the creatures. However, she lacked much of an aptitude for magic herself and didn’t happen to know many mages at all for that matter.
She came up to a halt by a tree and rested atop the animal. She was clad in steel armor and had a shield that draped across her back and a royal blue scabbard at her side. Her Sapphire blue eyes cut across her menu as she sent a message in the area chat that would reach those within the vicinity of about 100 meters.
The message would read:
Guardian looking for a Mage to party with. Going to check out some of the new mobs in the area and see what I can learn about them. Grid coordinates X47 Y 79.

The sun was beginning to rise when Darko had finally reached the place. Although it should not be a complete misnomer when he should arrive here earlier. It was because of some damned mobs in Windsor Greatwood that he had to battle with that he arrived later than usual. There must be a significance in calling this area the "Moon Dance Village" when it would be viewed from dusk till dawn. Dusk he engaged with numerous boars, slimes, and animate plants; midnight, he finished them all; early morning, he had reached Sarum proper. It was a shame for him that he should arrive here, only when the sun started to shine. Cursing at his inability to arrive in an earlier time, and burdened with fatigue, Darko just took a slight nap at the flowery ground nearby a tree within the area. Amidst the fragrant flowers and leaves he sought quietude, away from the bustling life of the cities which he had already passed by, away from the noise of the marketplace where he had sought inns to rest, and most of all, away from those irritating persons he had already seen, as their idiocy and inability to respond to a single question irritated him a lot. Hopefully he would not experience that here as he slept. And hopefully, some mob would not come up to him while he was asleep. But even though that would happen, there would be not much damage since he had updated his equipment lately. He then continued to sink down under the shrubs, taking a nap.
He then woke up with a sudden message in the area chat. Not wanting to rise up he just read the chatbox on his line of sight. It stated, "Guardian looking for a Mage to party with. Going to check out some of the new mobs in the area and see what I can learn about them. Grid coordinates X47 Y 79." He then glanced at his current coordinates, and he saw X46 Y78. The meeting place was somewhat near where he was currently. He then stood up from where he was sleeping, looked behind him, and saw an armored figure on horseback. The horse looked sturdy enough to carry the person in armor and participate in battle, but he noticed that plate mail she was wearing, the shield on her back, and the sword that was slung at her waist were those of a beginner player. Seeing this, Darko thought that the person seeking his help was a low-leveled player or someone who didn't upgrade her gear. Though Darko was somewhat a low-leveled player, all of his gear except his wand and his grimoire were updated ever since he had a level of 12. He then moved towards the figure on horseback and said, his voice devoid of emotion, "Here is the Mage, but can the Guardian properly guard the Mage while the Mage helps the Guardian annihilate the foes incoming? I don't care whatever the answer, since I have been doing everything all by myself."

“How you holding up there, boy?” Saskia grinned as she ran a gentle hand through the horses soft mane. “We’re gonna get you a nice bath when we get back to Londiminium...”
Saskia nurtured the steed tenderly as she killed time out in the moon dance forest. She enjoyed catering to him and making sure that he was in top condition for going out in the field. Many that knew her, would know that often times, she would worry more about feeding her horse than feeding herself. After all, it was her motherly intuition kicking in, as she had raised the stallion from when he was merely just a young shire.
“We got to keep that coat nice and shiny. Then I’m thinking next week, we’ll due a bit more training around the track, maybe add in a few hurdles this time, hm?”
She spoke in an affectionate tone as she caressed the horses back and rubbed it gently. The pink strands of her bangs swooped lightly in front of her face as she looked down. Her eyes then drifted upward as she scratched the back of her neck and looked around curiously. Though her eyes found no sight of anyone in the area.
“Maybe there aren’t that many people out here yet....or maybe they are all busy doing group raids or something....” Saskia stated as she stretched out her arms and released a light yawn. “We’ll give it just a few more minu-...Oh, look, there’s someone now. Hopefully he’s a mage. If he is, we might just be in luck.”
She smiled warmly as he came from out of his hiding place and advanced toward her. Icarus let out a rough puff of air from his nostrils in a stern greeting whilst Saskia listened gently to his words. The man seemed confident in his abilities, but seemed to question hers. Taking a moment to ponder on this, she soon realized the nature of the inquiry was most likely due to her current gear.
“Ah, right, now about that....” Saskia chuckled. “I bet you’re wondering what the hell I’m doing in the newb gear. Fair enough. I guess there’s two reasons for that. Generally, the first is more of a diversionary tactic. Since this is more of a PK zone more or less, it makes me look like small game to those that like to go about looting others. More often than not, they don’t tend to pay attention to me if they see me from a distance. On the other side of the spectrum, I tend to care about equipment maintenance and would rather not put wear and tear on my better gear as it gets to be a bit costly. But seeing as we are ready to depart I’ll go ahead and remedy that situation to make you feel a bit more at ease."
Saskia smiled politely and activated her [Quick-Swap] ability and soon became adorned in higher quality Stratford Arms gear, consisting of the variation of the Great Shield, Platemail, and a magnificent Long Spear which was normally a two handed weapon, but thanks to the benefits of her Cavalier skill, she was able to wield it with one hand, thus exponentionally incresing her offensive capabilities.
She then lowered her level to nineteen to keep a good level gap between the two.
“That should at least help you get you fair share of exp out of the deal. I’m just out here doing a bit of scouting and research for my guild. Might be planning some expeditions into these uncharted territories and I just wanted to get a feel for what we might be up against. Glad to have you along. Not sure if you happen to have a heal spell, but I do, I like to have in just in case.”
Saskia smiled confidently. “I haven’t gotten many chances to team up with Sorcerors though I find them to be a pretty fascinating class. Looking forward to seeing what damage you can dish out. Now if you don’t mind, you can hop on and we can scout up ahead to the north. I hear there’s some decent mobs in the level fifteen to twenty range there. It’d be pretty fun to wreck some faces along they way!”
Saskia chuckled as she offered him a hand up unto the warhorse. If he would accept it, then they would ride off towards the north. If he declined, she would lead at a slow trot for him.

Darko just replied, "Never would I thought that it would be about the equipment, since many strong adventurers could hide their level beneath some beginner gear. I'm always talking about their true skills. Once or twice it had happened that who seemed to be a newbie with level 1 and beginner gear defeated those people with maximum level and deck with the best gear in the game. And sometimes the latter gets defeated by a mob because they were not experienced enough. So I tend not to estimate others based on their outward looks." As expected, he was never shocked when he saw that what he thought was a low-leveled adventurer changed into her true gear. By glancing at every piece of equipment he could be sure they were all of the Stratford Arms standard issue, meaning this person had a level of 30 or higher, which in itself might be more than twice Darko's current level of 15. He did not cower in fear because of that and instead issued a small whistle, signifying his interest in the turn of events. "Looks like there's going to be a huge event right here," he thought. The level of the guardian seemed to be out of his reach, but it is not something that he should be worried for. Of course his level was lower, but it's because he preferred to go against a huge number of mobs of a lot lower level than himself. That is to gain more of the practical experience than the superficial. He only went here to gather data about this area and not to engage the mobs very much, and so he accepted the request of this guardian to help her.
When the guardian told Darko something about him getting a sizable amount of experience after doing something, Darko, wondering why, stumbled upon the thought of the guardian lowering her level. Did she think that he was on a miserable situation given his level? Slightly irritated, the sorcerer listened to the other words of the guardian. It seemed that the guardian had also the same plan as him, surveying the mobs here and laying out plans for the next trips to this place. She also mentioned about having a Heal spell, for emergency uses when she needs an instant bail-out. However that was also the case for Darko, since he could use some physical short and long-range attacks and an occasional casting of Blink, Serpent Bolt, and Magi Lightning: Grand Fall, his mana was still in huge supply after these spells. He then said, reminding himself of the versatility of the Heal spell, "Yes, the Heal spell is the most versatile spell for every class, since it would serve as either a bail-out or a game changer for many battles. Only idiots would not take this spell, I dare think." Yes, only idiots would stick to skills of their own class, as Darko believed.
As the guardian talked about how she treated Darko's class as interesting although she had not gotten many chances to team up with them, Darko thought that she might have searched enough. He had already teamed up with two sorcerers at the same time: one who decided on a rune knight build with the armor and sword, and another who decided with a less-restrictive spellblade build. These two people made him decide on using a melee weapon if all things come to worst, and decided on a far less restrictive magic swordsman build that could be appended on his current build, and if this would be completed, Darko would be as deadly as a person of a weapon specialist build in dealing a flurry of small amounts of physical damage as an append with his high magic damage burst, though only as a flank-hitter. Surely he can be depended upon for damage in that case. Well, if they were targeting the mobs within the level range of fifteen to nineteen, the guardian could depend on him to dish out lots of damage against the mobs. But when he was asked by the guardian to accompany her on horseback, he thought that he could offset the effectivity of the guardian to deal massive amounts of damage and hate. He then said, "I don't think the horse could carry another person alongside a well-armored one. I think I should walk. This way we could better survey the situation around us."

Saskia listened intently to the words that the gentleman spoke while she studied his facial features. The sun splashed against his raven hair as the human man spoke. The wolf hair began to grow curious as to why he chose the human race as a mage. Perhaps he liked the cosmetic features better or by some chance he might have been thinking of a hybrid build quite possibly. Of course, whatever his plans were, boiling things with fire and hurling a frost spear through someone’s eye always sounded fun! He seemed to speak in a rather proper manner and it was easily ascertained that he might have been easily describable as an intellectual. Of course, most mages were in theory, given the logic based skills and proficiencies.
At least he seemed not to judge things by the surface or their outward appearance. Saskia chuckled as he let out a humourous whistle once she unveiled a piece of gear in her inventory. She felt it was nothing special. She was still awaiting something she considered would be far more superior to employ. But of course that shipment from the mysterious shop known as the ‘Funeral Parlor’ would have to wait.
She examined the male once more with a smile. She didn’t seem to be concerned about his level at all, but was happy to share his company. Of course, she could help mitigate any harm that would come to him for the most part, so long as she kept up her end of nthe bargain. She was also pleased that he seemed confident and bold in his approach. He definitely was a sharp up an coming player and Saskia had a good feeling about him. However, she wasn’t able to discern that he was somewhat miffed about her lowering her level. Of course, It would be better than her just staying at her current level and him only getting a meager 7-10 exp. Most MMOs put severe penalties when there is a large level gap in parties.
It seemed that he was an experienced player as well, or at least keen enough to know to grab the heal spell. That was a double blessing as she wouldn’t have to worry about her spell being interrupted during a fierce wave of combat. It was always hellish to worry about the foreign concept of casting times and interruptions. This was her first MMO she had ever been in, and she learned most of every thing she knew from trial and error.
She laughed again as he made a remark about careless players who didn’t appreciate the worth of the subtle heal spell. As he brought up the point about the advantages of him moving along the trail on foot, Saskia nodded and went with the flow, keeping at a gallant trot in front of him on her horse Icarus. The horse’s hooves sifted through the dirt and debris as they moved along the road.
“You seem fairly experienced. That’s a good thing. I take it you play a lot of MMOs? Have you always been a mage in them?” Saskia asked. She liked to get a feel of who she was working with. “This is my first MMO really, it’s been a pretty wild ride, that’s for sure. You’re around that level where the raids start to really kick off. They are always fun. Everybody loves Sorcerors. Wiping out entire crowds in an instant. Sometimes I wish I had that type of firepower. “
As they traveled about twenty meters down the road, Saskia caught glance of something outside of her peripheal vision.
A tall black humanoid beast emerged beside a lesser white fox beast creature with multiple tails. It was a fascinating and alluring sight, though Saskia was more astounded by the fact that the black beast seemed to walk like a weewolf and carry a long katana with a crimson blood red scabbard.
Any iformation about them would be unknown to her. She decided to try her friend and pick his brain about the creatures.
“Hey, got any idea about those two? Black one looks pretty fierce. I bet that white one can dish out some pretty nasty damage too.”
Saskia, tugged at the reins, beckoning Icarus back a few steps as to not startle their prey.
The black Nogitsune and the white Myobu prowl the forest ahead of them in the typical motions that most mobs did as they went about their typical patrol patterns.
“I’m thinking I’ll go for the Anchor Howl first and get them grouped together. Or if you’re feeling bold, you can pull them and I’ll just hit them with the aggro skill before they can get to you. Of course, we don’t know if they can cast, but well, I got a few tricks up my sleeve for getting there in the blink of an eye before that happens. Icarus and I are built for speed!” Saskia winked cheerfully as she readied her lance and faced towards their opposition.

When Darko was asked by the guardian if he played a lot of MMOs, and if he also played mage classes in them, he replied, "Yes I have played a lot of MMOs in my spare time, but I don't always select the mage class. But it could also be said that I do play a lot of characters who were either based on magic or support duties. I have even played as an archer in one of them." He then listened on as the guardian said that it was her first MMO, and about how Sorcerers were admired in parties in dealing a lot of damage and wiping out crowds of enemies. He then said, "Well, it would be more of a matter of 'feel' than everything else. I might have geared up on the area-of-effect damage build, but it was also essential to adjust to other builds when situation dictates it. Especially when the 'inevitable event' for Sorcerers kick in." Of course when Sorcerers cast too much area of effect spells, their mana were flowing out of their system like running water, and so some mitigation actions were done to reduce the consumption. For Darko, it would be to use some physical damage attacks to wear out the enemies before using another wave of area-of-effect spells to deal maximal casualties. That way, there would be a space of time for the mana to naturally regenerate before using another spell.
It never took them a lot of time before they saw a number of creatures before them. There were two foxes of many tails before them: one was white, and the other was black and seemed to carry some sort of a sword. Darko never saw such monsters before, and so he used the Scholar skill "Evaluate" to know more about them. While he scanned the data before him, he was saying some key notes about these two monsters to his current partner. "The white one was a Myobu, current level 15, had both a heal spell and a ranged homing fire spell. The black one was a Nogitsune, current level 20, had a close-range fire spell as well as the same ranged homing fire spell. Both are weak to Water, but resistant to Fire. Therefore the Myobu is the support, while the Nogitsune is the attacker. They are both resistant to fire, so I can't use my Orb of Lava spell, and I don't have any Water attribute spells. Therefore I suggest that I would pull them using the Sorcerer spell 'Magi Lightning: Grand Fall', and then you rush in and keep the aggro to yourself as I cast another spell 'Serpent Bolt' on you. But be quick on this: they might cast the ranged homing fire spells at the instant I had their aggro. Although I could manage with the Myobu's attack, I'm not sure with the greater Nogitsune."

During the time that Darko went about explaining his perspective of the simple matters of MMOs and his personal opinion about the effectiveness of Sorcerors, Saskia smiled gently and nodded in understanding. It was a good sensation to enjoy mentally stimulating conversation as she always enjoyed picking the brains of others. Her companion to be a bit social at least. Giving a depth of insight in how he thought or felt about certain subjects. She began to wander why he was traveling alone. Surely, some group would have found him to be a reliable ally to keep on their team. Perhaps he generally preferred to solo, or it was possible that she just lucked out.
Saskia blinked as she watched him activate a skill that astounded her. She began to release a flood of information about their targets, identifying key weaknesses and other valuable information about their skills and potential obstacles they may have to overcome once they engaged them.
He pointed out some great information and suggested a bit of strategy to employ and made her aware of how he would be fighting the enemy. Saskia appreciated this as she would rather them not act like a unorganized pick up group. Most groups like that that entered blindly into combat ended up bursting into more bubbles than the suds in a car wash.
“Wow...did you figure all that out from that skill I just saw you use? That’s pretty damn resourceful. Could use abilities like that in the guild. What’s it called? I’ll be sure to tell the guys at the Vylbrand Academy of Tactics, Mystics, and Trade about it. I know a few people that have been interested in doing a bit of espionage and reconnaissance missions. It certainly could be useful for our expeditions.” Saskia grinned gracefully.
She turned her attention to the pair of enemies that roamed the forest.
“Lightning huh? Wonder if it has any stun effect. Could be useful if it did. Our guys at the guild aren’t exactly magically inclined. It’s kind of a hole I’ve been wanting to shore up. Most of our guys are melee combatants, with the exception of an Enchanter. We have a Sorceror, but he spends most his time in the library researching than actually going out and casting spells. A bit of a scholar.” Saskia mentioned, making more subtle small talk.
“So, you say they have fire spells that home in on the target...” Saskia frowned. “Well, that sucks. Not much dancing and dodging Icarus and I can do around that. And the best water spell I know is splashing water at them from my canteen, but I’m sure the only thing that’s going to do is get my hand ripped off!”
Saskia chuckled as she shook her head.
“What we have to be careful about is those damn heal spells. This isn’t the ordinary fight. We’re going to have to wear them out before they wear us out. My thoughts are that we are going to have to focus most of your damage output on the little guy. It’s going to be a pain in the ass if they manage to heal each other and you run out of mana. We’d be up shit’s creek then.”
“I’m gona go ahead and dash in and pull aggro on both of them. Let’s take out the white fox first and then, focus our efforts on big. black, and ugly.”
She turned her horse to face the enemy as Icarus began to kick back the grains of sand and prepare himself for a charge.
Saskia looked over her shoulder at the sorceror with a confident smirk.
“You can go ahead and load up that spell. By the time it lands, I’ll be right on top tof them and have done my part.” She nodded as she gave him a thumbs up and turned gripping the reins tightly and cracking them wildly.
In a sharp gust of wind, Icarus took off as Saskia activated her [Fold Step] skill, a technique normally used by Swashbucklers, but as a Cavalier she was able to attain it for her own personal use. The skill was like a ma dash that increased her velocity as she charged like a mad bullet into the fray.
As she made contact, the Nogitsune, who was aggresive and primal in nature had already aggroed her and was charging his homing fire barrage spell. Saskia thrust her long spear valiantly into the air and shouted her ability in a loud thunderous cry. “Anchor Howl!”
The Myobu joined in by charging his own fire spell as his brother fox spirit released his own burst of embers at Saskia, marking the field of battle.

The stats and skills of the two creatures before them somewhat bothered Darko. With the right alignment they might always target him, but fortunately these creatures were not predatory. And so he could be sure that only one wave of attacks would hit him if the guardian did her job. Well as of late every person that he partied with ended up relying too much on him, and then trashing him when he didn't do the job they expected him to do, which is literally impossible to do except if they gave him extra mana to do as such. He was for conserving the needed mana for something that could be considered as an emergency measure, but since the adventurers with him were too foolish to understand that, he had to do something. Once when an occasional Orb of Lava he cast killed every monster on its path, his party mates accused him of hogging all of the last kills. Although he had been explaining that all that he did was to reduce the number of targets to increase breathing space for all of them, they resorted to attacking the sorcerer which they thought would decrease their problems. And therefore the 40% "emergency measure" of mana paid off. 35% to annihilate everything in his path including the idiotic adventurers, and 5% to patch up his wounds and return to his home base.
When the guardian admired his capability to know the needed information about their enemies, and thought that he could use one in their guild, he replied, "It is a Scholar skill available to all players with that subclass: Evaluate. Instead of only one interface which showed only the name, level, HP, and MP of the target, if the skill is used, there would pop out another interface which would show all of the skills of the target with their descriptions, and their weaknesses and resistances. I'm sure that there were players with that subclass within your guild, as it was very popular." He then heard that it would be very useful in reconnaissance operations of their guild if they have someone with that subclass. And the guild that she spoke of was one of the most popular guilds? Darko was surprised about that information, but then came up with a sly smile. "So you were really the unlucky bunch who don't have someone with that skill in your guild?" She then spoke about the Sorcerer who was in their guild who just spent his time cooped up in the guild library researching instead of going into the field. He then said, "I know there were a lot of books to be studied in the Unfounded Kingdom, but still, going out in the field is still the best means to learn everything about this world. Not that I would intend to join in your guild, but I am willing to teach him how to learn everything by experience. Don't expect that I would be nice, though." He always expected everybody to learn everything in the first run, much more so when they have the same skill set as him.
He then delved on his own skills. "My 'Magi Lightning: Grand Fall' skill had a great damage, but no stunning power and had a large casting time. My 'Serpent Bolt' skill though had a slowing effect. If you have something in your sleeve that could inflict water damage, you should do so." She then mentioned that he did not have anything that could inflict water damage except shoving her water canteen towards her enemies, which, obviously is a bad move. She then mentioned that the one they should target first is the healer, which is the best strategy to do. She then would charge ahead but would wait first on Darko to cast his spell before doing anything. Darko then does so, raising his staff to the sky. After a matter of seconds, the clouds started to form at the same spot where the two foxes were. After another few seconds, a mighty thunderbolt crashed down toward the two foxes, meaning to electrocute both of them. But, as expected, these two were alive after what seemed to be a wrath of God. The two foxes, seeing him, immediately focused their aggro towards him. Fortunately, the guardian with her horse closed in on the three and a half foot distance between her and the foxes immediately, and pierced her lance towards the black fox even before it had an opportunity to cast a spell. The white fox however finished casting its fire spell, and the fire spirits generated homed in on Darko, the ground on his foot immediately exploded following its contact.
Fortunately, as if on auto-pilot, Darko had cast the Sorcerer spell "Blink" just after he finished casting his first spell, and ended up some five feet right behind the guardian. He then cast a third spell following that appearance, this time the Sorcerer spell "Serpent Bolt", just seconds after the guardian used her skill "Anchor Howl" to draw the aggro of the two foxes back on her own. Some sparks of lightning immediately surrounded the guardian, releasing jolts of electricity towards the two foxes, momentarily stunning them and interrupting their fire spells. This should be the only perfect time to direct their attacks on the white fox, since for as long as Serpent Bolt is in effect, their casting of spells should be interrupted. Moments later, Darko unleashed a barrage of magic bolts and cards towards the white fox, steadily decreasing its HP little by little. When he spoke, Saskia smiled warmly, delighted by being enlightened by his explanation of the skill. He was impressed with his vocabulary and overall knowledge as it sounded like he practically knew the skill verbatim and most likely used it many a time in his journeys. This filled Saskia with intrigue as to her the most relevant matter was the ascertaining of information. It was a blessing to have someone like that at her side.
When he spoke of her and the guild being an unlucky bunch, she laughed heartily with a confident smirk and nodded in agreement when he spoke about potentially meeting with her sorceror and showing him a thing or two about magic.
She nodded her head in a warm manner and decided she’ll wait until after the battle to further that discussion. So far, she got to see a lot of talk from him, now she desired to see the action that fueled his fire.
He sounded bold enough and had the knowledge, but could he follow through in the application?
She thought to herself as she grinned an nodded in understanding taking down whatever mental notes he would explain about his skills.
It seemed he had one spell that made up the bulk of his ability to dish out mad amounts of damage, while on the other side of the spectrum, that was all it did. On the other hand, he had abilities that were able to mitigate the combat speed of his opponents which would allow them to operate on borrowed time. In combat, that meant that every grueling second or two you could tack on to their reaction time, that was less damage being dealt to you. It was a way to mitigate damage over time and thus boosting her ability to tank her enemies and attack swiftly while they were under the cumbersome effects of the spell.
The sharp blinding flash of light struck hard against the battlefield as the loud echo erupted through her ears. Surprisingly, she didn’t go blind or deaf after the vivacious and maniacal spell. After all, it was just game animations and sound effects, though it seemed very immersive and realistic to her.
She didn’t have time to watch the inticate beauty of the skill being cast, as in the corner of her field of vision, she noticed Sorceror that she was practically sworn to protect come under fire, she grimaced at the sight of the hurling fire barrage, knowing there was something she could do to stop it by activating her [Covering] skill, but she paused, her mind delved back to the actual first time she encountered a mage. A bumbling man in a blue coat that ironically resembled Vivi from Final Fantasy 9. He was only one and possessed a skill that allowed him to shift position and dodge an attack, or to teleport over distance. Judging by how intuitive and calculating the man was, she was willing to push her poker chips across the table and go all in, betting that he had a trick like that up his sleeves. After all, by also having the [Heal] spell, he seemed like a man that prepared for the worst of emergencies.
She smirked as she saw him vanish from sight for a moment before reappearing elsewhere some few meters away from her. She was happy that he emerged unscatched, but in the back of her kind, she worried if that bit of mana that he had used on that spell would be needed later on. If, somehow, it might have made the difference between victory and defeat. Saskia shook off the thought as the serpent bolt the mage preapred had singed into the enemies, lighting them up in a dual fired barrage.
Saskia blinked as she was bracing herself for the impact of their fire barrage spells, but the clever mage had managed to interrupt them. For these few seconds the tide was turning in their favor. Instinctively, Saskia clutched her long spear in a firm grip and darted towards the Ivory Fox as it became showered by magic bolts and card attacks.
Saskia was used to the magic bolts by now, after watching a few heretics, enchanters, and other casters, auto attack sequence, but what she found interesting was the cards as it remanded her a bit like gambit from the X-Men series.
Focusing her energy back on the fight, she summoned all her might as she caught the now slowed enemy off guard. This bought her enough time for the oppurtune strike as she activated one of her most potent skills [Sword Rain Flurry]. The skill locked her in place for an animation, but during the animation, she would unleash a volley of six well time thrusts with her long spear. With each thrust, she violently skewer the Fox spirit making it recoil heavily and howl in agony from the pain of the sharp spear. Because of the difference in level between them, she dealt a bit more damage than usual.
However, behind her she could hear the sinuous cackle of the Nogitsune as he avenged his brother spirit by hurling a vicious fire ball attack at her. Locked in her animation, there was little she could do. Though she tried to muster the strength to move her great shield between her an the attack, it offered little assistance as her body simply would not move. The burning embers crashed against her spine and singed the tips of her floral pink hair as she shrieked from the pain. Icarus stomped his feet angrily and once the animation expired he began to encircle the Myobu from the opposite flank, using his sharp speed to throw it off.

As the heat of battle progressed, the duo could not still defeat the white fox, and Darko was not amused by the turn of events. It would seem like these creatures were made of steel, but it was to be expected for Darko. In essence he was battling one monster with the same level as him and another monster five levels above him. But as for MMOs, this should be the real challenge. A person who managed to defeat a mob some levels above him were considered to be one of the best in the game he played. For Darko he had never experienced such thrill; he was always the support character and would be annihilated when going solo against even one monster one level above him. This event was the same: although Sorcerers had the largest output of damage when it would come to mana, even if they could deal the largest amount of physical damage compared to other mage classes, the amount of physical damage they could deal was mediocre. Therefore it was essential for Darko to strike opponents with physical damage as fast as possible. Therefore, he continued to throw his cards at the white fox at breakneck speeds so that the small damage, even made lesser by the fact that his accuracy became decreased, would be mitigated by the number of strikes he could do.
As he glanced in his periphery on the icon of "Serpent Bolt" spell which cooldown was still in effect, the guardian was hit with the homing spell of the black fox. He almost cursed as he had nothing more to do than continue the barrage of magic bolts and cards towards the white fox. But he did not stop in his barrage as he continued to throw everything he could throw to defeat the white fox. As the HP of the white fox continued to dwindle, it started to cloak itself with flames, healing some of its HP in the process. But when that happened, the "Serpent Bolt" spell had already cooled down, and at the same time it cooled down, Darko instantly cast the spell again, cloaking the guardian with streams of lightning. He then constantly checked the HP bar of the guardian, while issuing a barrage of magic bolts and cards against the white fox. If the guardian's HP dwindled to about 70% of its original value, he would instantly cast the "Heal" spell, and then measuring to what extent did he heal the guardian. But he constantly tried to conserve his mana pool, since he would not know when he would definitely need it. There might be times when he would be constrained to move at the front for him to divide temporarily the damage output of the enemy, but currently it would not be the time for that. Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
Supportive and perseverance in his strikes, her support sent out a mad volley of cards at her ash white haired enemy. He swung each magical card from his deck with a flavor of bold flavor as they splattered over the fox spirit, with the occasional few missing the mark. It was like a machine gun’s attempt at the spray and pray method, but as he was in close quarters combats, it was more like the rapid fire of a submachine gun. The cards ripped slices through their opponent as the tiny chunks of damage that he had done began to stack. It almost seemed as if he had a bit of swashbuckler’s blood flowing through his veins. As he seemed intensely focused on multtitasking during the battle he seemed to have a rather large gap in his casting time. Had he only the two offensive spells to work with? Well, it started to make sense when Saskia took into account that he picked up blink and a heal. He was level fifteen which means that he should have around seven skills or spells. She already had an idea about five of them after speaking with him. The was heal, blink, serpent bolt, Magi Lightning, and orb of lava. What were the other two? She wondered what secrets he had tucked away in his bag of tricks. Possibly passives, more than likely. She remembered picking up some passive skills of her own, such as [Resilience]. A passive ability that boosted her in combat HP regen overtime which in fact helped them a lot in this fight as they needed every ounce of help they could muster.
As Saskia unleashed a few thrusts, throwing her back into ever strike, she saw the beast beginning to cast a spell, though the animation wasn’t like the first. She looked the the periphery of her own field of vision as she quickly scanned through the list of skills she had available. That’s when her eyes caught it and mentally activated [Shield Bash] in that split second. In a well timed execution, she was able to prevent it’s curative abilities, thus not making their joint efforts meaningless. Whereas she was an aggresion and tenacious fighter, she was also experienced and calculating. She often planned out most battles three moves ahead and handled herself well under pressure.
With a fast gait, she charged around it. Most of her techniques were hit and run tactics. As she traversed the terrain, she noticed that the Nogitsune blocked her path. Wielding his heavy katana. He unleashed a vicious howl and leaped in the air, bringing both hands to the hilt of his blade and crashing down upon her. With quick reaction time, Saskia employed one of the moves she considered to be the best in her arsenal. She activated [Counter Break] and slammed her spear across the sword. Their were sparks of tension as they collided, and it almost seemed as if Saskia’s counter was about to give way, but with the beautiful timing of the Sorcerors spell, the bolt slammed into both the twin fox spirits and opened an opportunity for Saskia to hurl the beast back from whence it came. She prefered using this ability against the strongest mob in the beginning so that she could quickly recycle it after it’s cooldown to further improve her damage mitigation. It was a bit of a min-maxer’s strategy, but she had the idea down. It was all simple math and numbers really. Once she figured that out, she knew how this game worked.
After huffing a few heavy breaths, she finished panting, and noticed that their had been a sudden shift in aggro as the white tailed Myobu, turned his attention towards the distant human in the background and started charging at him bearing it’s fangs.
“Oh, no you don’t!” Saskia shouted as she thrust her spear in the air and activated [Taunting shout] to draw it back towards her.
While she had her back turned, the Nogitsune, had used it’s sharp cunning to slash a mighty blow against not her, but her horse! The sharp sword pierced the veil of Icarus’s hind leg as he whined in agony.
Meanwhile a furious Myobu had dashed around and leaped up biting the wrist that Saskia used to hold tightly unto her spear. The gallant Knight and her champion steed were surrounded.

Darko heaved a sigh of relief when the guardian interrupted the healing of the white fox using the skill "Shield Bash". That heal should have invalidated the efforts of the two in beating up the white fox, with all their mental energies as well as mana poured into that bit of HP. He then continued the barrage of magic bolts and cards towards his target. But he knew for sure that he could never match the output of accurate strikes of a swashbuckler whatever training he did. He knew that even though he tried to use both of his hands to deal greater damage in addition to his occasional spells, he knew he was limited by the ceiling known as game mechanics. But even though he knew about that, one and a half is still better than one even though it could not be better than two. And so he continued on that arrangement.
He continued on the barrage towards the white fox, as the electricity around the guardian continued to arc towards the two foxes, momentarily stunning them on each impact. But he did not know that the hate of the white fox toward him was steadily increasing on each hit. And therefore when the effects of Serpent Bolt subsided, the white wolf suddenly tried to attack him. Seeing this, he reached his left hand towards his back after returning the grimoire to his satchel bag, and drew the black longsword from its sheath. He seemed ready to engage the white fox in a melee battle, although it would be disadvantageous for him, to momentarily divide the damage between the two of them, but he still hoped that the guardian would cover him against this one. Fortunately for him, he did not need to engage the white fox in melee, as the guardian redirected the hate again back to her. He then sheathed back the longsword, picked up the grimoire again, and continued on issuing a rain of magical and physical projectiles towards the white fox.
But, as he issued a rain of rain of projectiles towards the white fox, the two monsters seemed to employ a sort of a counter-strategy against them. As the guardian tried to lure the white fox into her direction, the black fox stopped in her way and attacked, not the guardian. but the horse she was riding on. As the horse was not expecting itself to be attacked, it stumbled down right under the guardian. And then, the white fox, catching up, had bitten one of the guardian's arms. Seeing the conundrum right before him, Darko crunched up his mind on what to do. As if the goddess of fortune was smiling on him, he saw a boulder right near the guardian. And as he thought of what to do with the boulder, the cooldown of the Serpent Bolt spell had reset. Darko smiled as he thought of the vast amount of fortune that he had today.
He first used the spell Serpent Bolt to be targeted towards the guardian, so that she would gain a bit of breathing space while her foes were momentarily stunned with each impact of electricity. And then, focusing on the boulder near her, he lifted it up using his bare mind, sign that he was using the Sorcerer spell Psychic Conductor. The boulder, charged with mana, hurtled towards the white fox, dislodging some of its teeth from the arm of the guardian. The boulder then moved away in an arc, steadily increasing its speed. After another second, the boulder completed a circle as it hit again the white fox, shoving it a few centimeters from the guardian as it moved again with an arc away from the guardian. Another second later, it hit again, this time the black fox which its movement sealed by a recent discharge of electricity. It connected straight to the jaw of the black fox as it was carried by the boulder towards the ground, but not far away from the guardian. The boulder then stopped glowing, sign that the spell cast on it was deactivated. The successive jolts of electricity stunning the two should give enough time for the guardian and her horse to recuperate. Some seconds later, a white light surrounded Darko, and a shower of particles of light hurtled down towards the guardian, sign that Darko used the spell Heal. This should heal some injuries the guardian sustained while fighting the foxes.

Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
She growled out in pain was the vicious bite as the Myobu wrapped it’s sharp fanged jaws around her wrist. Icarus limped away in agony as he released a violent whine and flapped his vanilla coated tail wildly. Saskia slammed the hilt of her spear into the ground as she became agitated with the fox spirit that had become her new bracelet.
“Get the hell off me, you damned beast!” She demanded as she tried to shake him off , but to no avail. No matter what she tried to be the beast held on. Fortunately, she had her gauntlets on, but even they were beginning to dent and crack from the devastating bite. As she punched him with her free hand, the sorcerer behind her ha a better plan. He commanded the great power of his utility spell to unleash another wave of serpent bolts over Saskia which zapped both of the beasts, paralyzing them and opening a gateway of time for Saskia. She tugged the reins hard and to the right, trying to move from out between them as he noticed that the fox spirit that had bit her still had a tight grip, though the rest of his body fell limp. Just what the hell did they feed these things for them to be so strong?
Saskia glared at it as she heard a rough crackling noise from behind her. As she looked over to her comrade, she noticed that he was no longer slinging cards, but he appeared to be in a deep state of meditation as he manifested his spirit and mental energy into lifted up a rather large boulder that Saskia was certain weighed more than her. It was an impressive feat as she watched it come hurling toward her. Her eyes bulged as she winced, not fully trusty the actions of her ally, but he skillfully manipulated full control over the boulder and with a bit of finesse he smashed it into the Myobu, crushing it’s side and forcing Saskia’s arm free. She was exceptionally grateful as clutched her wrist and began opening and closing her hand, making sure she didn’t suffer any possible nerve damage.
Shaking her loose wrist a few times, she discerned that she was fine and shifted her vision towards the spinning boulder that dance around the battlefield samming into the twin fox spirits and knocking the nogitsune a few yards away. Saskia was happy to finally have some breathing room. In the back of her mind, she wondered when the cooldown of that powerful damaging spell would come back into effect. She was beginning to wish she hadn’t encountered fire spirits as Orb of lava was often considered a godsend when fighting multiple opponents. She was sure it cut the mages overall damage output by at least a third.
Finding truth in the matter that she had little time to think, she had to quickly devise a plan to adapt to the given situation. With her [Resilence] passive ability in tandem with the luminescent healing light that washed over her. She felt reenergized with a new vigor. It was time to kick ass and take names.
However, she saw both the fox spirits entering a spell animation. Her eyes opened wide as they both conjured homing fire spells. She cracked her whip at Icarus as she tried to get him to gallop away, but it seemed that his movement speed had been hindered from the slash to his hind leg.
As the horse limped away the best he could, Saskia knew she had no other option. She activated [Cool Defense] by toggling it on as her mana began to gradually drain slowly. It helped mitigate the damage of the devious blows as they howled over her ushering in a bombardment of fire, which when combined, sent her flying off her steed.
The mounted knight was now at a disadvantage. She no longer had access to use her two handed spear to deal damage on her mount. Her body floated in the air before rolling around in the dirt. Debris had caked unto her face, as she pushed up from the ground growling, a firm hand ripped the steel sword from her scabbard as the infantryman skirted about the field, dancing her footsteps in an arc around the Myobu, looking for an opening. Most of her skills were on a cooldown. The best hope she could offer at this point was to simply slash away for whatever meager damage she could do to the Myobu. However, in order to do that she had to find her opening.
But how?
Saskia smirked as she looked past the Myobu, who had his attention focused on her. She could already hear the thunderous gallop as Icarus flanked the fox spirit from the rear and smacked it in the back with a wild donkey kick, which knocked it off balance and allowed for Saskia to dish out a skyward slash.
She felt uneasy however, as she knew with the low damage output she was giving, it was only a manner of time before the hate would retract back to the Magi.

As he was watching the turn of events, while he continued to pelt his artillery on the white fox, Darko felt how useless he had been. He had faced every challenged before him with confidence, but also with caution, as he tried to lead every party he was in to victory. Although the results had always been dismal, at least they would have won with their party complete. But this time it seemed that he and the guardian were engaging enemies which were not only tough, but intelligent as well. In this battle, anything should be possible, if it would be victory, or defeat for both of them. All should depend on their battle strategy, since tactics had ended a long time ago. Since he had not yet been seriously damaged by the twin foxes, his life should be complete. His mana was on a dwindling supply, and so they should think of something before it would be too late.
Darko was particularly shocked when the two foxes aimed their fire spells at the guardian, but the guardian and her horse were unable to move quickly enough or defend themselves. His efforts to make the guardian recover failed as she was blown away by the impact of the fire spells some feet away from her horse. But still there would be nothing that he could do yet. His Serpent Bolt spell was on a cooldown, his Magi Lightning: Grand Fall was unusable in such proximity, his Orb of Lava was useless in such an enemy, and his Psychic Conductor would expend a lot of mana. The only thing that he could do was that kind of strategy, but it would be somewhat reckless as he need to close in on the enemy in melee range. And so he waited for the best time to rush in as he continued firing magic bolts and throwing cards at the white fox until the time and opportunity would come.
Dismounted from her horse and therefore unable to wield her lance, she drew her sword from the sheath at her waist to fight off her enemies. The problem is that the sword that she drew seemed to be the starter equipment. With that sword being used to attack her enemies, it would not take long before the aggro of the white fox shift to him. But unknown to the white fox, he was ready to rush in the fray once the opportunity comes. Eight seconds before the cooldown of Serpent Bolt. The white fox attempted another bite at the guardian, but, due to the lucky inception of the steed as it dealt a back kick towards the white fox which made it possible for the guardian to hit the fox with a skyward slash which set it flying. Six seconds. As the steady barrage of both magic and physical projectiles had hit the white fox, it shifted its focus towards Darko as it bared its fangs towards its direction. Darko, knowing this would happen, started to cast a spell. The white wolf however started to charge towards his direction. Five seconds. Darko jumped towards the direction of the white fox, his left hand having free of the grimoire drawing the sword from his back. Afterwards he disappeared, and then quickly reappeared quite near the white fox, which seemed surprised at his sudden appearance. Without hesitation, Darko delivered a slash towards the fox. However, while slashing, he forcefully manipulated his wrist so that the slash would hit the neck of the fox. The damage should be not as much as the weapon specialists, but being equipped with a weapon of a good level, the damage should be passable to say the least. But the fox, although still surprised, did not hesitate as it bit the arm of the sorcerer wielding the sword. Although the pain was very huge, Darko still tried to maintain his composure as he twitched his eyebrows and gritted his teeth. His right hand then started on casting a spell. Fortunately however, the black wolf was still engrossed on the guardian while Darko battled the white wolf. Two and a half seconds. The Mana Arrow that the sorcerer cast he directed towards the eyes of the fox which was still biting him. The fox then let off a whimper as it released its jaw from the left arm of the sorcerer. But it did not stop from there however. As the fox dropped from his presence, Darko, rotating his arm, then delivered a skyward slash towards the body of the fox and then a straight kick towards its belly as it was shoved towards the guardian. The fox landed one foot away from the guardian, but still upright. It seemed that there was still a lot of constitution remaining with the fox. The cooldown of Serpent Bolt had reset, and he was intent to cast it towards the guardian, to bear down the black fox that she was battling. But still not surrendering, the white fox bared its teeth towards Darko as it tried to charge at him again. But the spell he was casting was not the Serpent Bolt, as he jumped backwards and vanished. He then reappeared five meters away from his original position, and then threw cards at the black fox. The white fox was surprised for a bit, but the black fox was more active as it howled at his direction and started to charge at him. But by that time he was casting another spell. The twin foxes were effectively lured towards him as they left the guardian and her horse alone. This was the perfect timing. Unbeknownst to these two targets, the clouds started to dim the sky again. A bright flash of lightning then hurtled towards the two foxes, striking them at point-blank range. He had hoped that this should buy enough time for the guardian to mount on her horse and start to attack again. At that time, when she would be ready to take the aggro again, he would cast the spell Serpent Bolt to assist her in attacking the foxes.

Saskia was surprised to the the young magi rise to the occasion to help protect her in the fight. His resources exhausted, the resilient mage counted the seconds of moisture that dripped from the brow as he timed the exact moment to strike. During the fight the conversion of magic bolts and cards triggered the aggression of the fiery fox spirit as the white beast darted towards him.
As much as Saskia wanted to assist, the Nogitsune had blocked her path. As she locked swords with the black beast by activating her [Parry] ability. The duo separated, each to fight their own glorious battle. Saskia leaped back as her pink wolf hair began to thicken, enraged by the interception of the Nogitsune.
Her eyes quivered slightly at the sight of the raven haired Sorceror receiving a nasty gash on his arm from the bite of the primal Myobu sinking it’s teeth into him. Saskia felt flawed as she didn’t want him to have to worry about getting hurt during the battle. However she humbly accepted that these things will happen when fighting new opponents. It took time to figure out how to learn their varying attack patterns.
She wouldn’t let the battle go down easily as as ducked under a horizontal slash from Nogitsune and activated her [Quick Swap] ability to draw a weapon that would seem like a godsend during the intense close quarters combat. As the mana arrow struck through the Myobu hurling him further back. Saskia’s ordinary sword materialized into a Stratford Arms steel long sword that was of equal caliber to her giant long spear. Though not as powerful, it was quick and light weight and offered her a bit more mobility as an infantryman.
As Darko was making his slash across the Myobu’s face, so was Saskia connecting her own blade with the Nogitsune’s shin as she sliced across it’s fur. The black beast howled in anger and was about to raise it’s sword above it’s head to make an effective slice down Saskia’s shoulder but it was hit in the back by multiple cards which got it’s attention as his red eyes snapped away from Saskia and back towards the mage.
As they surrounded him he start to conjure up a mighty spell that was executed with such ferocity that it ripped the Myobu into shards of Anima bubbles and the towering Nogitsune became electrocuted as he shook violently from the assault.
He pressed onward towards his opposition as he stared at the sorcerer with murder in his eyes.
“Hey! Get back over here! I wasn’t done with you yet!” Saskia shouted as she offered up her [Taunting Shout] ability in Darko’s defense as she triggered an immense sensation of hate from the Nogitsune.
He clutched his katana and drew it back like a Samurai and dashed ahead towards her, slicing across her abdomen with his blade as he dashed past her.
Her face tensed as she groaned from the pain, but as she had Icarus set to attack mode the champion war horse rushed to her aid and raised up o n his hind legs before slamming his front hooves into the Nogitsune. In retaliation, the Nogitsune conjured up he fire spirits and would attempt to burn the horse with his vicious embers.

When Darko had finished casting the Magi Lightning: Grand Fall spell, he thought that the white fox was still alive after being electrocuted with the spell. But as he heard a whimper and a shower of bubbles right after the whimper, he knew for sure that the white fox was gone. Now that the healer was gone, it would be the time for them to finish the black fox to get this over with and continue their explorations. He then got ready to attack the black fox when, as he watched the two, the black fox acted like a samurai when it instantly slashed the abdomen of the guardian. The slash seemed like a critical hit as the guardian groaned with pain even with all the armor on her body. Seeing that, Darko was interested on how sharp the katana was to go through the guardian's armor, but digressed on the thought knowing that that katana would not be dropped the instant that the fox dies; it would just disappear. Knowing that his help was essential, he then unleashed his magic bolts and threw his cards towards the black fox. But the fox seemed to be unphased by this barrage as he continued bearing down at the guardian. The guardian's horse came to her rescue by trampling the fox with its front legs, but the fury of the Nogitsune became focused at the horse as it tried to incinerate it with its homing attack. But since Darko now knew the nature of the homing attack, he then channeled his mana towards the boulder he had found before, and, as the fire spirits were unleashed, he controlled the boulder to come from right behind the horse and intercept the fire spirits as it would hurtle towards the Nogitsune. When the fire spirits and the boulder collided with each other, the fire burned the moss and lichens that were growing on the boulder, and then the now burning rock collided with the nose of the Nogitsune, which then shoved it towards the ground. The fire should have not much of an effect on the black fox, but the boulder should do some sort of damage on it. Not wasting time, he then cast another Serpent Bolt spell on the guardian that should bear down the black fox with successive lightning strikes, as he continued to inflict damage on it with his magic bolts and cards. They should finish the fox quickly; there would be no telling what this creature could do to them the next time. But this time, he would leave the melee fight to the guardian. He might have not enough HP to withstand the attack of the Nogitsune, but he would do his job from far away, for the guardian to maintain herself in engaging the fox. Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
Bulges of her eyes popped out when she saw the boiling flames unleash from the beast towards her horse, Icarus. Saskia knew there was nothing she could do to save him. The war horse was far weaker than she was and could not stand up to too many assaults back to back without time to recover and heal from his wounds that had been inflicted. Fortunately, his saving grace came in the form of a boulder that was dislodged from the ground, covered in the entropy of vines and thick moss. The large boulder was spun like a bowling bal until it cut of the course of the flames and became brazen in cindering flames that cackled off it’s surface.
The bright fire startled Icarus as he leaped and jumped about wildly in fear. He was not a fan of things burning around him and the hot warmth that wrapped around the boulder made him feel uncomfortable as the radiation of the heat hit his coat. He moved far away from the battlefield, and thus further away from his master.
The bold impact of the flaming boulder being thrust into the Nogitsune, however, showered it in flames, that it shrugged off after it recovered from being crushed with the boulder. After slamming the boulder to the ground, the scornful feast howled a thunderous boom at Saskia, still enraged by hate and began to cast a healig spell on himself to recover his wounds.
Watching the telegraphed signs, she tried to rush ahead to hit it with her [Shield Bash] skill but, was a second too late as the interruption attempt failed and the beasts burn marks began to erase.
“S--shit...” Saskia sulked as the beast rose before her with new vigor. Her eyes quivered at the sight of his hp bar filling up a bit, thus wasting the time they spent in trying to bring the beast down. The situation was slowly getting worse, as she noticed that the mage from their group was losing more and more mana with each passing second. They had to fell the beast quickly and they couldn’t afford any more mishaps like before.
Saskia returned his aggression by pounding on her shield with her sword and then shouting in a Valkyrie’s war cry by activating [Anchor Howl].
“Alright...you brainless asshole...it’s you and me. Sasi needs a new fur coat...” Saskia smirked as her sweaty strands of her stuck to her face. Her endurance began to be wavering as she panted a few times, trying to catch her breath. The hair that dangled blocked her vision. The wild Nogitsune cried out to the skies as he spun for a round house diagonal spinning slash.
Saskia glance for a hair of a second and noticed the timer of her [Counter Break] ability just come off cooldown.
Perfect timing.
Saskia tumbled over to the left of the beast and then, while on her knees, she impaled the fox in his rib cage, cutting through meat and bone as the thrust the blade in deeper, then screamed in ferocity as she tried to rip it out. However, the blade had became dislodge in his side.
The angry Nogitsune clasped a hand around her neck.
"Nrghh...let go of me!"
He stabbed her in the gut with his sword as he ran her through. She coughed in pain from the mighty blow. As her weary eyes dangled upon the ground, the patter on hooves striking her ground coud be heard as the fearless war horse came galloping onward and tackled the fox by ramming into it with all his might.
Saskia snatched her sword, keeping a firm grip as this happened and relinquished it from the mensters body as she fell down to her knees, heaving heavy breaths of pain.

As Darko was watching what was happening at the battle between the guardian and the Nogitsune, as he still conjured up magic bolts and throwing his cards, it seemed that the guardian dallied in riding on her horse and use the additional skills that she could use so that she could spam a lot of skills at the Nogitsune. Why this was happening was beyond him; she might be needing her feet to move around the battlefield in dealing with the samurai fox. But as of the moment the fox was gaining the upper hand against the guardian as the guardian struggled to keep aggro towards herself. It was a really sickening sight when he saw the guardian and the Nogitsune trade stabs towards each other. The Nogitsune felt no pain even though its abdomen was sliced all the way to its spine, and was still able to stand even after being rammed down by the horse, but the guardian was groaning in pain after being stabbed through her gut. As he saw the scene he then felt more strongly that he was very useless; he did not have anything to attack a single target other than his artillery. But since it was all he had, he gave all that he got to defeat this monster before him and the guardian. Enveloping himself in a brilliant light, he cast the "Heal" spell towards the guardian, which should patch up her injuries for a short while. He then continued his barrage on the black fox.
When the Serpent Bolt skill cooled off, he then cast it towards the guardian again, which should stun the Nogitsune a number of times. But since he could do nothing within the expiry of the 30-second duration of the Serpent Bolt and its cooldown, except throwing magic bolts and cards, he had to think of other ways to incapacitate the fox. As he thought of a way, he remembered the boulders that he was using to distract their enemies and make them fumble. Although he was thinking that he might expend a lot of mana in doing so, there was no better way. And he would only need a fraction of a second to make an enemy stumble, so why would he not use it to his advantage. He then waited on that time to happen while still directing his artillery towards the Nogitsune. As the final lightning strike connected towards the Nogitsune signaling the end of the 30-second duration of Serpent Bolt, Darko then started to cast the "Psychic Conductor" skill. When he finally had that burnt boulder infused with mana, he then waited for the Nogitsune to deliver an attack. The boulder was always moved behind the Nogitsune so that the fox would not sense the impending doom against it. When the Nogitsune would attempt an attack, the boulder would swoop in towards the knee of the Nogitsune, knocking it off-balance if not making it stumble down, and then the grip on the boulder would be released after that. This should give them ample opportunity to bear the fox down with a lot of attacks, melee or ranged. A burning pain began to engulf her shoulders as the ragged warrior clutched the left shoulder of her shield arm. The pain of the Nogitsune’s crushing grip had caused her limps to feel crushed and she thought that maybe her shoulder had dislocated from the fight. Fortunately though, it was just her pain receptors flaring after being nearly choked out by the corrupted fire breathing wolf demon spirit.
She knew she had to do it. To shake off the pain and keep fighting. Fighting so that she can learn how to improvise, adapt, and overcome this foe. As of right now, she was the tip of the spear for her guild mates. Being the first one to plunge into the uncharted depths of this new world. This information she sent herself was valuable. Knowledge was always a potent asset and intelligence gathering was very much so appreciated.
The monsters she fared off against in this mystical moon dance forest was far more menacing than mere dull green slimes or goblins or the sahagins on the shore of the isle of grain. These beasts were far more tenacious and resilient. They were like demonic hellspawn that emerged from the depths of the underworld and summoned by Hades.
She knew that the protectorates in their regiment would require more training and a more masterful command of the elements to fend off against beasts like these that loomed in a dungeon raid. Here they were only fighting two of these strange animal spirits. But what would come of the possibility of fighting six. The battle would be more drawn out and they would possibility have to worry about even more healers. They barely had a strong support regiment in their ranks. Most of the newer faces in the academy that had these abilities were still technically on training wheels. It was going to take time to get everybody to work effectively together. She knew she would have to start making things more organized and entrusting them with mission contracts from the city.
She gritted her teeth as cursed the wolf for the pain he had caused, the tip of her sword dragged through the dirt as she trudged on towards him. She saw the beast get struck with many cards that burst forth in rapid speed from the sorceror. Her sharp eyes cut a glance at him, he was so focused and determined. He had a bold fire in his spirit as he refused to stop and back down during this fight. He kept doing anything within his power to keep fighting.
Saskia admired his courage and wit on the battlefield. He definitely was a good player in this game and he inspired her as he went on to cast a rejuvenating spell that felt amazing as it washed over her and healed a portion of the damaged she had received. That was when she felt more confident than ever. They had something on their side that the monstrous fiend didn’t. They had healing capabilities whereas he didn’t. The beast was also outnumbered three to one. This fight was theirs. They only had to play their cards right.
The prelude to victory was in the serpent bolt spell that the mage had cast. He unleashed a well timed stun that gave Saskia ample time to recuperate As the wolf spirit recovered slightly from the spell he came charging toward Saskia, who had entered a defensive stance, but before either of them could react, the behemoth was smashed across the legs with the boulder, knocking it off balanced. Saskia’s eyes dilated as the mentral trigger summoned her to strike.
‘Now!!!’
Her mind cried out as she dashed forward while the monster was knocked down and unleashed a devastaing [Sword Rain Flurry] which collided with the beast in tandem with the series of cards and bolts from the mage.
After five well placed diagonal slashes across the fox spirits body, it became very apparent that the Nogitsune was on it’s last leg. It wouldn’t take long at all before the raging fox would burst into bubbles and return to the lifestream.

The sight of the Nogitsune being on its one knee led Darko to think that the fox was on its way of being defeated, but still he did not became confident. As long as the black fox has still a drop of HP left, there should still be no room for overconfidence. He maintained his composure as the magic bolts and cards continued to be hurled towards the Nogitsune, with much greater ferocity than ever. The Nogitsune should still have the fiery short-range bite attack, which they have not yet seen before. If used at the right time and at the right place however, it might bring in greater damage to the guardian than she had ever experienced in the last attacks of the black fox. He had hoped that the guardian would take notice about this, but he would only hope that he could stop it before it would happen. There were still 3 seconds before his primary stunning spell Serpent Bolt would cool down, and Darko thought only this spell could stop the Nogitsune from using the fiery bite skill against the guardian. He thought that there were still dangers on going back to their home base, and they should keep their morale up so that they could talk about...
Wait, why was Darko thinking of such things? He preferred to be alone unless he needed information from someone or helping out another person in his or her difficult fight. He was thinking that guilds might hinder him from accomplishing his earnest desire to go back to his home safe and sound, and he was better off in being alone and quite detached to the other group of players desirous of the same kind of thing as him and doing what he only wanted to do. But, he seemed on enjoying exploring with such a person as the guardian who appreciated his worth, have stuck with him on this battle against the twin foxes when she of a higher level should be better off exploring with someone the same level as her, and still valiantly fighting even when battered with multiple injuries to sustain her griphold towards the monsters to protect such a person she did not knew as much, knew that that person was of a meager level compared to her, and fully trusting on his capabilities. She was the person very much unlike the other people he had partied with, and very much like that tutor that stuck with him in his tender age, unwilling to let go until he had taught everything in life to him.
She had said about the Vylbrand Academy of Mystics, Tactics and Trade that she was very much acquainted of, and might be even one of the authorities in, and he then wondered what sort of academy was it that they don't have someone who explores his or her surroundings finding something of note that could help the academy in its advancement of education. They might have the written resources about a lot of things in the explored areas in the Unfounded Kingdom, but do they have the more accurate reports of what was happening lately? Darko then thought about joining the academy to increase his knowledge on the written aspects about the Unfounded Kingdom. He believed that this would benefit both parties: the academy would gain someone who can gather information about the frontier, and Darko would enrich his mind on the vast collection of written articles about the Unfounded Kingdom. It should be a good deal for both of them.
Delving on these thoughts for half a second, he then realized that he was still in the battle, and the Nogitsune, though down on one leg, should still be able to attack. He then continued to pelt down as many magic bolts and cards as possible towards the Nogitsune, as he should be merciless towards any threat that had come before him. One second before the cooldown of the Serpent Bolt. He then noticed that the head of the Nogitsune was glowing orange for some reason. "Crap, the fire fang attack!" The expletive was on his mind, but he did not say it aloud. He just grabbed the wand from his back, and let the wand be pointed towards the guardian as sparks of lightning formed on the staff. But half a second before Darko could cast the spell Serpent Bolt, the Nogitsune finished on channeling the skill as it charged toward the guardian. The Serpent Bolt was then fired from the wand of Darko, and a blinding flash of purple lightning hurtled past the Nogitsune's head and then connected towards the guardian. There was a 6 inches distance separating the guardian and the Nogitsune when the lightning connected at the guardian which should surround her as a offensive buff, and, immediately the lightning arced towards the Nogitsune, stunning it as the fiery glow on the fang of the fox subsided.
Darko thought as the Nogitsune was stunned by a strike from the Serpent Bolt, "You might be fast, but you are not faster than lightning, bish." But he did not speak that aloud, since it was not his style.
There should be a thirty second limit to finish up the Nogitsune, and they must finish it before that time or else the Nogitsune might turn the tables over them. Turnout: 891Ambient: NoneQuote: The Great Fight Continues: HP 77%, MP 47%Dramatis Personae: Darko Lipowitz, Saskia
