[The_Mad_Hatter]

The Worktable.

This was the name Ishi chose for the small, creaky wooden stand he was able to rent for himself. This was the only stand he could afford to rent with the little money he had in his pocket since he arrived in Londinium. Obviously, the dwarf should go out and hunt to earn gold and acquire crafting materials. But he was still not that inclined to do such barbaric things. Though it was a fact that he would need to go out there and get the materials he need, the petite was currently more interested in what he could do with the crafting class he chose when he created his character; the Mechanic Subclass.

With a duster in his hands, The_Mad_Hatter started cleaning the wide wooden surface which would be his main working area. Loudly humming a tune reminiscent of Vocaloid’s Bad End Night, the petite continued remove unwanted dust and dirt from his creaky stand, not minding if he was causing a scene or not. In fact, he was causing a scene. But he was in his own world so that couldn’t be helped.

Once the wooden surface was clean, Ishi would place some sheets of paper on it. Taking out his pencil, the dwarf would soon sketch shapes and write details on each one of it. From time to time, he would look at the sky with his colorful, yet blank eyes. But whenever an idea or two popped into his mind, those blank eyes would become unstable. He would then look back at the sheets of paper, arms madly flailing as words and shapes filled the sheets of paper once more. His Chesire-like grin and crazy antics soon scared the by-standers.

Soon enough, his crazy show was done. And the sheets of paper completed. Now all he needed to do was to gather all the materials that he needed, as well as put them all together.

Now, how would he do that?

Requirement Level: Level 1 Mechanic
A crafting recipe for a simple metallic mannequin filled with gears and springs, a prototype model created by the The_Mad_Hatter. This particular model is electrically linked to a Control Bar, allowing a Puppeteer to control it at a distance. Though it isn’t special on its own, it is highly customizable which makes it as a staple material for higher-grade puppets. Note that this puppet is 10% durable than the Starter Wooden Pierrot, but is 10% slower. The Mechanic that crafts this item may rewrite its name and description. Its effectiveness depends on the level of the materials used to create it.

A cup of tea in one hand, and the recipe on the other, The_Mad_Hatter giddily sipped the liquid as he analyzed the recipe that he had just finished writing. The petite avatar was double checking the measurements, the materials, as well as the computation needed to create the mannequin. Who would have thought that a mental patient like him, who was rarely doing anything in the asylum, had a very mechanically-inclined mind? His complex thinking was only rivaled the craziness of his mind; a deadly, but perfect combination.

Placing his cup on the wooden surface, The_Mad_Hatter would waive his hand to summon the Interface. From there, he would open his inventory to check the materials he already gathered for the puppet. Obviously, none. Giggling lightly before lifting his cup for another sip, the petite grimaced after learning that he was already out of tea. A disappoint revelation indeed. Storing all of his items back to his inventory, he would grin and chuckle before leaving the Worktable.

Thinking of multiple things, including the materials that he needed, The_Mad_Hatter wandered aimlessly in Londinium, checking every stores and shops for any mechanical parts. It didn’t matter if it was not a hardware shop. So long as it was selling something, be it food or any kind of service, the petite would enter and bother the store owner for materials they obviously do not sell.

After hours of wandering and causing public disturbance, The_Mad_Hatter rolled, somersaulted and slithered his way back to the Worktable. A grin was apparent on his face as he was able to gather the materials he needed for puppet. All he needed to do was actually craft the item.

[The_Mad_Hatter]

As soon as he reached the Worktable, The_Mad_Hatter waived his hands to activate the Interface. With a few pokes and swipes to the air, all of the items he purchased ‘poof-ed’ into existence. Sheets of metallic, boxes of screws, gears and springs and the specially tailored frame lightly dropped on the smooth surface of his working area. Though the creaky and old, the stand he rented was able to carry all of the weight. Ofcourse, the petite was aware that it was possible for the stand to give up on him while he was working. Giddy as always, he quickly picked up the materials and placed them on the ground. The only thing left on the table was the frame.

Summoning the blueprint on his hands, The_Mad_Hatter scanned the contents of the paper, giving the frame a glance once in a while. After determining the approach that he would take, the petite placed the paper to the side and picked up his mechanic kit. Time to work!

The_Mad_Hatter started polishing the frame first, making sure it had the right measurements to act as a sturdy skeletal body of the puppet. Having a tough outer layer was just supplementary feature, atleast to his point of view. What mattered to him the most was the frame as it is the one that would bear the weight, as well as keep everything intact. A puppet with a weak frame would crumble like a cookie.

After making sure that the frame was of top condition for its level, Ishi would start working on the internal mechanism of the puppet. This involved the gears and springs that would make the puppet’s movement as flawless as possible. The dwarf would make sure that everything was placed properly, to lessen or avoid the risk of malfunctioning. We wouldn’t want the puppet stopping on its tracks due to an unexpected jamming. Electrical receptors were properly placed on the framework, which would allow him to manipulate the puppet via the Control Bar. As expected, this phase took the longest time for him as this was the most complicated part.

Finally, Ishi was able to complete the internal mechanism of the puppet. All he needed to do was to place the metallic plates too house the internal mechanism and the metal frame. The plates were thick enough to withstand outside forces of equal level, making it slightly durable compared to that of the starter wooden puppet. Ofcourse, these sheets of metals would be heavier than wooden plates, thus resulting to a much slower movement rate. Housing the mannequin with its metallic layer took a few hours as well.

After hours of working on the puppet, the metallic puppet was finally complete. Taking out the Control Bar tailored fit to his new creation, The_Mad_Hatter started to fiddle with it, ordering it to move. Sadly though, it didn’t move. Annoyed at the useless puppet before him, the dwarf threw a teacup filled with tea at the metallic mannequin, drenching it with the savory liquid. Oddly enough, it seemed that this was the only thing it needed to move.

Moving a little erratic at first, the metallic mannequin soon stood up and bowed before The_Mad_Hatter. Grinning as madly as the Cheshire Cat, the petite laughed briefly before addressing his now new subject.

“You are just in time for tea, Tinman.”
