There was christmas joy to be had everywhere and events had started all throughout the lands. Though she had already participated in one of the Sarum events before, she had come back to the city after her expedition in the Moon Dance Forest. Ame wandered through the city, watching the citizens of the town scrambling to finish their decorations. She had been welcomed warmly and had told her of the festival that had begun. She already knew what the Sarum tradition entailed, after coming across a young man fighting off the chickens, but she wanted to be in this city to do it this time. It was the heart of the celebration and though it had been fun doing it in the Moon Dance Forest, she wanted to experience the tradition where it actually originated.
Ame opened her interface and selected her friends list. She smirked as she came across the assassins name, only recently having been added as a friend after all of this time, after all of their experiences with one another. The request had made her heart pound and she had thought that it was better late then never. She clicked on his name and it opted for her to say a message to him. "Hi Saber." her voice was soft as she said his name and her cheeks flushed a little as she continued. "I was wondering if you would like to join me in Sarum for their traditional Chicken cooking event. I'm here now, but I won't start until I hear back from you. Meet me at the Sarum Inn, if you would like." She bit her lip as she sent the message. She found herself slightly embarrassed as she walked into the Inn and sat at a table after ordering an apple cider. She truly hoped the assassin would join her.
They had done plenty of things together, but they had never been on an actual date. She had forced him to the Christmas ball last year and randomly met him at his favorite cafe, though she hadn't known that it was his favorite, nor that he was even there at the time. Then there was that time at the beach, but she wouldn't have called that a date either. She took a sip of the hot cider and let out a sigh of pleasure at the taste. She couldn't help but feel a little down that he hadn't asked her on a date yet and that she was always the one getting him to do things with her, but if she didn't opt to asking him, she knew she would probably never see him so she was fine being the one to ask. This would give them a good opportunity to talk about what they were to each other as well, as they had never really discussed that either. She felt her hands clutching the cup as she bit at her lip again. Would he join her, or was she wasting her time? - Words -500- Tags -Saber - Skills Used ----- Notes -Yup, that's right.. Do You Believe in Ghosts?
: Words : 1620 : Tags : kittygrey: Skills Used : [N/A] : Notes : I have arrived. The snow beneath Saber’s feet crunched loudly as Saber made his way across the open field he was stuck crossing, his left hand lingering behind him as he dragged a quiet body behind him. Lying unconscious, a Lander who was a bit bloody left a long trail in the snow as Saber held his ankle and walked towards the distant city just beyond a patch of trees. This was the zone of Sarum, and Saber didn’t want to be here anymore. He had picked up what was supposed to be a simple job a few hours back and instead of being in and out, Saber had come across some… complications. Regardless he had his catch; a man who was dressed extremely well and was even better groomed. He was a high class Knight, almost a Noble, and his manor house that had been built a little ways into the open fields around Sarum was quite the sight. If it wasn’t for the six other knights and the two mages though, it would have been easy to get in and out of. But no, nothing was easy. The Knight himself wasn’t easy to take out either and because of that, Saber himself looked a little roughed up. His cloak was tattered and his shirt had a few fresh cuts in it.
Yet clothes were replaceable. Saber had replaced his first set of vanity clothes recently and now his clothes were a bit stronger and heavier, allowing him to face the winter weather without discomfort. It hurt his mobility a little but it was unnoticeable by the untrained eyes. Unless someone had been with Saber since the beginning, they wouldn’t even notice the very so slight loss of speed in his blade swings. Saber noticed though, but it would go away soon once he was comfortable in his new clothes. As he looked over his shoulder towards the Knight, he considered taking that man’s clothes for his own. The only thing keeping him from doing so was his own dignity. He wouldn’t dare wear the clothes of a man who couldn’t protect himself from a single person.
Turning his eyes forward, Saber breathed warmly and watched the mist in front of his lips linger for a brief moment before the wind took it away from him. There was a calm breeze today and the skin-biting cold wasn’t as threatening either. It might’ve been because of the sun overhead but Saber was no meteorologist. Whatever the weather was, he would deal with it. Why waste a day because of a little cold? It wasn’t like he could get frostbite or anything here. He did miss the warm summer air though, he would not deny that. As he walked into the small set of trees, the temperature change because of a lack of sun made that absent feeling of warmth even more apparent. Saber rumbled a little and powered through, his grip on the knight’s ankle tightening.
Just as he exited the short cluster of nature, a notification let Saber know that someone had disturbed him. Half-expecting it to be the person who hired him, Saber let out a sigh. He had taken a little extra time because of the Knight’s guards, why was he being bugged? Hell, the bastard didn’t even tell Saber that there would be company. If he knew that there would be guards, then he should have been prepared for Saber to be slow. Then again, Saber was also supposed to send a message when the job was finished. The intermediary between the mercenary and the client was a familiar friend of Saber, which made dealing with this particular client a bit easier. Saber wished a bounty would pop up for his head next, but that wouldn’t happen; politics.
Yet when Saber opened his display in his mind and tapped over to his inbox, a pleasant surprise awaited him. Saber wiggled his nose as he saw the name of the sender; Kittygrey. He had added her to his friend’s list recently after a bit of time of not doing that and surprisingly, he felt a bit of comfort knowing that she was a bit closer to him because of it. He never bothered her, not wanting to be an annoyance so he hoped she wasn’t yelling at him or anything. He let out another sigh, trudging along through the snow and towards Sarum’s gates. The Lander Guards spotted the Assassin but he didn’t look up at them, engrossed in the message he had received as he opened it. Another surprise; she was inviting him to join her and apparently she was also in Sarum. Saber’s eyebrows raised as he was made aware of how close she was to him. It made him wonder how many times she was so close to him but because of his being so busy he had missed her.
“Going to have to work on that…” Saber thought, closing the message and looking up as the Guards stepped out to approach him. Saber dragged the Knight forward and kept walking. From inside the gate, a few other Guards appeared. They must’ve recognized his cargo, perfect. Now they could carry him the rest of the way. Saber stopped as he was told to a few meters away from the gate of Sarum and dragged the Knight in front of him and just off to his right, dropping the man’s leg with a heavy thud.
“Knight Saunders has been found to be conspiring against the Nobles and has been dealt with. Notify Noble Parsin. The Nobles have declared him guilty of treason and he is to be brought to the prisons. Here’s the scroll.” Saber pulled a parchment out of his belt and threw it at the lead guard, the scroll twirling end over end until it was caught. The Guards looked at one another, but ultimately Saber’s words were found to be true. The paper was properly signed and dated, there was even a seal on the bottom. Indeed, Saber was sent by Noble Parsin and Saunders was no longer a knight. With that finished, Saber left Saunders to the guards and headed into the city. Even if they had considered him a liar, Saber would have left a trail of blood behind himself and would have entered the city by force. There was some one more important than a Noble waiting for him now…
After trekking through Sarum’s white city streets, Saber found himself at the Sarum Inn where Kitty had told him to go. He sent a message to his ally, letting them know that he would collect his payment later and that he had other business to attend to. He was quickly notified of where the drop would be and Saber let out yet another sigh. He hated what he did sometimes. It was tiring and there were too many steps to the process. In the beginning, he didn’t mind. But now it was just tedious. So much so that Saber didn’t even care much about a lot of things when it came to being a Merc anymore. He kept conversations short, sucked out the information he needed, and then did the job. Before, he worked on pleasantries and built relationships. They proved to be useless. He was just a Hunter for hire, after all.
As Saber opened the door to the Sarum Inn, letting in the cold winter air as he stepped through the threshold, he quickly checked the room. He didn’t look for faces, a seat, or even for a sound. No, he looked a color; yellow, blonde to be exact. In seconds, he spotted it; a beautiful clump of blonde hair sitting at a table off to the side. He wiggled his nose and glanced around. He didn’t exactly like where she was sitting but he would deal, she was the one who invited him. Saber closed the door and made his way over to the woman, pulling down his hood and taking in a few deep breathes as she approached her. He didn’t bother concealing his footsteps, as she probably already noticed him. As he reached the table, he took a seat where he could see as much of the room as possible. He had a small blindspot behind him, but he would survive. He doubted anyone would jump him at an inn; paranoia was a curse.
“You look beautiful as always, Kitty.” He didn’t bother with a standard greeting, but quickly addressed how she looked. It always amazed him at how angelic she was in anything she wore. He couldn’t help but be dazzled. She probably looked just as nice in the morning.
“Sorry for taking long, had to finish something.” The one thing Saber was adamant about was keeping Kitty’s knowledge of his dark life as limited as possible. He didn’t doubt that she wouldn’t reject him for it, as she handled his disappearing better than anyone else he knew. It was more of the theory that the less she knew, the less trouble she could get into. Keeping her from that trouble was something Saber wanted more than anything else… He couldn’t imagine the brightness in her eyes going dull. No, he didn’t want to imagine it. He wouldn’t let anything taint his angel, even if he had to rot in hell in exchange.
The waitress stepped over to the table and quickly addressed the new addition to the table. Saber looked at Kitty for a moment, glanced down at her cup and noticed the smell of apples in the air; cider, he figured. He glanced at the waitress and asked for some hot chocolate, extra chocolate. The woman nodded and walked off to fetch the drink.
