Duelist Skills
it's my move and I draw!
Compatible equipment: duel disk, cloth armor, leather armor.
The following is a list of skills that are available to their respective class. On the week of April Fools' Day, all Adventurers are treated as Level 90 Duelists and therefore obtain all of the following skills. Duelist skills may only be used in unofficial threads in the Shadow Realm started during the month of April. At the start of a thread started on the week of April Fools' Day, you must decide whether to treat your current class as your normal class or the Duelist class. Any AP gained when RPing as a Duelist may be distributed to the Adventurer's normal main class. These skills are only available for the event's duration and disappear after it is over.
All players receive the following event equipment during the duration of the event. Equipment and skills do not have to be added to a profile to claim this class.
Kaiba Corp Mass-Production Duel Disk: Level 90 Duel Disk. A hi-tech piece of equipment produced by a mysterious company. It seems to be made from modern technology, but no one can really understand how it's made. This item comes with a deck of enchanted cards. When these cards are inserted into specific slots of the machine, it works as a summoning device. This is essentially the only method of combat for a Duelist, as its design makes it unsuitable for a melee weapon otherwise. Usable only during the April Fools event.
Duel Academy Uniform: Level 90 Cloth Armor. Comes in either Slifer Red, Ra Yellow, or Obelisk Blue. Cloth armor comfortable enough for studying and dueling! Usable only during the April Fools event.

Art of the Duelist |
Tier I Skill Passive. The Duelist starts with 8000 Life Points. If Life Points reach 0, the Duelist's HP drops to 0. At the start of the thread, select 15 cards from the following list and rearrange the cards in any order you prefer. Due to the Heart of the Cards, it doesn't really matter whether you shuffle your deck or not. You're still going to get the cards you need. It's not cheating either. At the start of a battle, draw five cards. At the start of every turn, including the first turn, draw one card. Whenever you use a card, it is discarded and can no longer be drawn from the deck. Only one card can be played per turn. - Black Luster Soldier - Blue-Eyes White Dragon - Catapult Turtle - Celtic Guardian - Claw of Hermos - Crush Card Virus - Dark Hole - Dark Magician - Enemy Controller - Exodia the Forbidden One - Eye of Timaeus - Fang of Critias - Flame Swordsman - Harpie Lady - Jinzo - Kunai with Chain - Kuriboh - Monster Reborn - Mystical Elf - Mystical Space Typhoon - Obelisk the Tormentor - Polymerization - Pot of Greed - Raigeki - Red-Eyes Black Dragon - Seal of Orichalcos - Slifer the Sky Dragon - Stardust Dragon - Winged Dragon of Ra |
Heart of the Cards |
Tier III Skill A skill that plays dramatic music in the background as the Duelist goes into a monologue of their determination to win. You may activate this skill anytime before drawing a card on your turn. Select any card from your deck and add it to the top of your deck. This skill can only be used once every duel when your Life Points are less than 2000. |
Black Luster Soldier |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Black Luster Soldier monster card and summons the monster. Black Luster Soldier is an legendary warrior wielding a powerful saber and shield. Black Luster Soldier is a guardian-type monster summon and can therefore perform Tier II and below Guardian skills. Black Luster Soldier takes 1000 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Blue-Eyes White Dragon |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Blue-Eyes White Dragon card and summons the monster. Blue-Eyes White Dragon is possibly the Duelist's strongest summon available, and it attacks the opponent by shooting light-attribute 'white lightning' from its mouth, toward the opponent. Be warned that this card takes 1000 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned, so you might want to finish the opponent quickly before your life points get impacted. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Catapult Turtle |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Catapult Turtle card and summons the monster for a brief moment. The Catapult Turtle will then launch the Duelist several feet in the air in a particular direction. The Duelist will land and take 250 points of fall damage to their Life Points. At least it's a decently safe way to dodge oncoming attacks or initiate your own surprise attack. |
Celtic Guardian |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Celtic Guardian card and summons the monster. Celtic Guardian is an elf swordsman that attacks using its nimble swordsmanship to defend its master. Celtic Guardian is a swashbuckler-type monster summon and can therefore perform Tier I Swashbuckler skills. Celtic Guardian takes 250 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Claw of Hermos |
Tier III Skill Pay half of your life points. Used to transform Red-Eyes Black Dragon into Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword, allowing it to be equipped. It cannot be used without being equipped. Equipping the Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword gives the user access to Samurai attack skills tier II and under and allows their physical attacks to deal fire damage instead. If equipped while fused or by using Polymerization on a monster equipped with Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword, negate the upkeep of Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword and once per turn, by discarding one card from their hand, the user may use Red-Eyes Black Dragon’s Inferno Fire Blast to deal fire damage that bypasses Fire Resistance and treats the damage as if the target was weak to fire. If this card is used, God Cards cannot be used. Cannot be used if the user has already used Eye of Timaeus or Fang of Critas. Cannot be used if the player used Seal of Orichalcos, and if the player uses Seal of Orichalcos while this card is active, this card’s effects immediately end. |
Crush Card Virus |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Crush Card Virus trap card and pays 750 Life Points to infect the target with a poisonous virus. The target has their offensive stats halved and gradually takes poison damage over time for the next minute. This debuff's classification is Poison and Curse. |
Dark Hole |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Dark Hole spell card, causing a black vortex to appear at their current position 10 seconds later. This vortex sucks in the closest target within 5 meters, so the Duelist would usually decide to move elsewhere while the spell card is taking effect. The target or object that was engulfed by the barrier will remain inside for 10 seconds, unable to see anything outside of the barrier. The target of this skill may neither perform any actions nor can they be affected by any actions until this skill wears off. It's often a useful skill for rescuing an ally or putting a threat out of commission for a little while. This skill cannot be used on large inanimate objects or bosses. |
Dark Magician |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Dark Magician card and summons the monster. Dark Magician is a powerful spellcaster that deals damage to opponents using its dark magic attack. Variants of this form include the traditional Dark Magician and the Dark Magician Girl. Attacks dealt by the Dark Magician deal darkness element damage. Dark Magician takes 750 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. Warning: Side Effects of fusing with a Dark Magician Girl may cause user to act like a magical girl and say cute phrases and do cute poses as a herorine of justice against their will. |
Enemy Controller |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Enemy Controller spell card and summons a game controller for a brief moment. Enemy Controller attempts to recruit a monster to their cause in order to create a temporary partner. This is often done by approaching the monster without startling or aggravating it and then inputting a special button combination. If performed successfully, a tamed monster will fight by the Duelist's side for a few minutes before control is lost and the monster returns to the environment. Certain situations might make this duration last longer or shorter; acts of kindness toward the tamed monster will make it stick around for longer, while excessive demand will make the Duelist quickly lose favor with the monster. Only one monster can be tamed at a time at the early levels. |
Exodia the Forbidden One |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Exodia the Forbidden One monster card and begins to summon a gigantic Egyptian sentinel. The user may no longer draw any cards. Every turn, the Duelist completes Exodia by 20%. After Exodia is completed, it is summoned in the Duelist's control. All damage dealt by Exodia inflict damage as though the target was weak against its attack. Exodia cannot be destroyed in battle. Exodia costs 1000 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn. This cost cannot be negated. |
Eye of Timaeus |
Tier III Skill Pay half of your life points. Used to upgrade Dark Magician (Girl) to Dark Magician (Girl) the Dragon Knight. Dark Magician (Girl) Knight attacks may now deal Light Damage instead of Dark Damage and once per turn, by discarding one card from their hand, may negate one attack or active skill and perform an immediate counter attack. If used with Polymerization, the user may seal all of the target’s active skills (passive skills as well if they are a monster) for an entire turn at the cost of an additional discard. If this card is used, God Cards cannot be used. Cannot be used if the user has already used Claw of Hermos or Fang of Critas. Cannot be used if the player used Seal of Orichalcos, and if the player uses Seal of Orichalcos while this card is active, this card’s effects immediately end. |
Fang of Critias |
Tier III Skill Pay half of your life points. Used to upgrade Blue-Eyes White Dragon into Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon. Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon gains a damage bonus of 10% for every monster you are facing (bosses included). In addition, once per turn, by discarding one card from their hand, the user can attack all enemies with Burst Stream of Destruction. If used with Polymerization, the user may grant the damage bonus to all of their allies. |
Flame Swordsman |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Flame Swordsman card and summons the monster. Flame Swordsman is a samurai-type monster summon and can therefore perform Tier II or lower Samurai skills. This card takes 500 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Harpie Lady |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Harpie Lady card and summons the monster. Rather than fighting as a main attacker, the harpie lady may also be commanded to lift the Duelist into the air for mobility. This card costs 500 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn until it is canceled. You may not cancel this effect until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Jinzo |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Jinzo card and summons the monster. Jinzo, the master of trap disabling, fights with electrical power and passively releases psychic energy in the surrounding area to disable all trap cards and active passive/toggle effects, except for Art of the Duelist. While Jinzo is active, no other passive/toggle effects or trap cards can be activated. This card costs 750 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn until it is canceled. You may not cancel this effect until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Kunai with Chain |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Kunai with Chain trap card and tosses a kunai attached to a chain at the opponent. This shackle the target's limbs and restrict any movement further than about a meter. Because of this, it's especially effective against DPS melee fighters, but not so much for ranged or magic classes. It wears off after a few seconds. This skill's debuff classification is Mind. |
Kuriboh |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Kuriboh monster card and summons a brown furball creature. Any damage the user would take this turn is absorbed by the Kuriboh instead. Kuriboh is discarded afterward. You may pay 500 life points to multiply the number of Kuribohs in order to apply this effect to your entire party. Kuriboh's effect cannot be used in two consecutive turns. |
Monster Reborn |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Monster Reborn spell card and pays 1000 life points to revive a party member or resummon a monster card that was destroyed within the Duelist's last turn. The Duelist does not have to pay life points to upkeep that monster during the End Phase of this turn. |
Mystical Elf |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Mystical Elf card and summons the monster. Mystical Elf is a fairy that heals its master using its magic. This card is considered a cleric-type summon and can use Tier I Cleric skills. Mystical Elf takes 250 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. Additionally, you may alternately summon this card as a spell card effect. When using this card as a spell card, you regain 1000 Life Points and heal a moderate amount of HP. |
Mystical Space Typhoon |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Mystical Space Typhoon spell card and summons a whirlwind around their body which blows up to a radius of 1.5 meters from the Duelist for 5 seconds. The closer an opponent gets within the radius, the stronger the wind is and the more likely they would be blown away unless they are strong enough to withstand the effect. This skill can be used to deflect any projectiles aimed toward the Duelist. |
Obelisk the Tormentor |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Obelisk the Tormentor Egyptian God card. Only one Egyptian God card can be used per duel. Obelisk the Tormentor appears as a large blue titan with unparalleled strength. Every time Obelisk the Tormentor attacks, spend 1000 Life Points. Any non-boss monster not destroyed by its attack has its HP reduced to 1. Obelisk the Tormentor negates any defense buffs from equipment or skills. This card costs 1000 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn until it is desummoned. You may not desummon this monster until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Polymerization |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Polymerization spell card and pays 1000 life points to fuse themselves with a currently active monster card under their control. For the duration of the duel, the Duelist's appearance changes to an anthropomorphic mix between their normal appearance and the appearance of the monster. The Duelist gains the attacks and skills usable by the monster card they fused with. Any life point upkeep costs for that particular monster are negated. This card cannot be used on Egyptian God cards. |
Pot of Greed |
Tier III Skill The Duelist's Duel Disk shoots out two cards. The Duelist's turn is then ended. |
Raigeki |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Raigeki spell card and pays half their life points to summon divine lightning to strike the battlefield. All opponent Duelists' monsters are destroyed. All non-boss monsters under Level 30 are destroyed. All opponents take heavy lightning damage. |
Red-Eyes Black Dragon |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Red-Eyes Black Dragon card and summons the monster. Red-Eyes Black Dragon is the rival of the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon, preferring to deal damage through a molten fireball blast from its mouth. As a result, while its attack may be weaker and slower than its counterpart, this fireball attack scatters haphazardly and therefore is very difficult to dodge. This card takes 750 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn unless it is desummoned. You may not desummon a monster card until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Seal of Orichalcos |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Seal of Orichalcos spell card and generates an occult circle on the floor beneath them. While this spell card is active, all Life Point payments for monster card upkeep are halved. Every 5 turns after activation, the Duelist's Life Points are reduced by 4000. |
Slifer the Sky Dragon |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Slifer the Sky Dragon Egyptian God card. Only one Egyptian God card can be used per duel. Slifer the Sky Dragon appears as a double-mouthed red serpent. Slifer the Sky Dragon excels in crowd control, blasting all applicable enemies with a breath of fire. Reduce a monster's fire resistance by 2 stages during damage calculation. This card costs 2000 life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn until it is desummoned. You may not desummon this monster until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
Stardust Dragon |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Stardust Dragon card and summons the monster for a brief moment. Stardust Dragon will then absorb 500 Life Points from the Duelist in order to open up two portals linked by another dimension. Both the entrance and exit locations can be chosen by the Duelist but can not exceed a range of 15 meters from one another. The skill remains in effect for five seconds. As soon as something enters one of the portals, it immediately reappears through the other portal. If the portal's duration has expired and something is not fully through a portal, it is ejected back the way it came from. This skill is often used for defensive escape purposes, but it has other practical usages such as turning an otherwise short-ranged attack into mid-range. |
Winged Dragon of Ra |
Tier III Skill The Duelist reveals the Winged Dragon of Ra Egyptian God card. Only one Egyptian God card can be used per duel. The Winged Dragon of Ra appears as a golden dragon with a phoenix-like appearance. It absorbs the life force of its summoner in order to deliver divine judgment upon enemies. The Winged Dragon of Ra deals damage that is treated as both light and fire damage. All monsters weak to either element take 5 times the damage. This card costs half your remaining life points to maintain at the End Phase of each turn until it is desummoned. You may not desummon this monster until the beginning of your next turn's Standby Phase. |
