The last thing Becka remembered before she blacked out was that she had finished making her Elder Tales character while chatting and laughing with her friend Katrina while she made hers. Then things went black, and she had no idea why.
When she opened her eyes though… something strange was going on. All around her was light… light? Why was it so bright? She had closed the blinds in her room so the sun wouldn’t reflect on her screen, and the only light was a lamp that was on her desk.
After a moment, her eyes adjusted… and she was super confused. All around her was a city. A stone street, buildings rising up all around her, the sky a perfect shade of blue. She was definitely no longer in her room… so where was she? Wait, where was Katrina?
She quickly looked around, trying to figure out where she was… that was when she noticed a floating box in her vision… it read the name of the avatar she had just made, “Ravenhardt,” as well as her level 1 status and her HP and MP value points… wait what? After blinking a few times and the box not disappearing, she walked over to a window of a nearby and looked at her reflection. Looking back at her was not the girl with green hair but with various shade of purple… This had to be a dream. A very bad and strange dream. She fell asleep at her computer! That was the only logical explanation.
She turned around walked a few steps away before turning around immediately and looking at herself in the reflection once more. She was still the purple-haired girl. She turned around took a few more steps before turning around again. Nope, still the purple-haired girl. So she was in a dream where she was her Elder Tales game… it wasn’t impossible… She just needed to do something and wake up. Simple enough. She should look for Katrina! But wait, why would she be in her dream? Maybe she would look for someone else…
Ravenhardt made her way down the street, passing a few other people who didn’t seem to take much of a notice of her… at least not until she found her way to where there were a bunch of people. There were some out in the open square, and they seemed to be freaking out. Raven ignored those people and went over to a relatively calm person standing behind a stand.
“Excuse me,” Raven said politely walking up to the stand, “Would you mind telling me where I am? I seem to be lost.”
“A’couse lady,” the person responded, “You are in the Flower Market Square.” Market Square?
“Would you mind being a little less specific?” Raven asked.
“Londinium,” the person nodded before going and talking to another customer who had walked up to his stand.
Londinium? Wait, she knew that name. It was the name of the starting city… in the Elder Tales… in the Unfounded Kingdoms. Something wasn’t adding up somewhere… but from what she could see, Raven had been sucked into the video game. That was impossible though. It wasn’t like she was an anime character… at least the last time she had checked, she wasn’t…

It happened so suddenly. Katrina was having such a good time with her new friend and creating her character in Elder Tales, laughing at her own indecisiveness until she finally settled on a Guardian. Still a little unsure, albeit mostly excited to finally play a game she has heard so much about, she logged into the game at last.
Then everything went black.
When Katrina woke up, she was laying down on the ground. She groaned and opened her eyes, nearly blinded by sunlight and a bright, unnaturally blue sky. Wasn't it raining out before? Katrina rubbed her eye and managed to turn herself over and sit up.
"What? Grass?" Katrina gasped. "No, this must be a dream!" Katrina felt her heart skip a beat as she came fully awake, sitting up and feeling the grass between her fingers with confusion and anxiety. It felt soft. It felt REAL. She closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. Dreams always felt different, and this was not a dream anymore.
Wait...where was Becka? "Becka!" She looked up and called around for her friend, but her voice trailed off into a hushed whisper. In front of her sprawled a city in the distance, but still close enough that she could probably walk towards it in a short amount of time. Katrina blinked a few more times and rubbed at her eyes, the shock of the whole thing beginning to subside.
Although one speck would not leave her vision no matter how much she blinked. Grumbling in frustration, she instinctively looked towards the spot and the image became clearer. It was not a speck at all! It was...a status bar? A picture of a woman her age with short, bright red hair stared back at her with a kind smile. Beside the image were status bars and a meek "Level 1" marker.
"Game stats...wait. This can't be." Katrina turned around and looked behind her, at the sky and ground, and eventually back at the city. In the distance, she could hear a hum of crowds and the gentle rush of winds against the long grass, as if her sight came back before her hearing. It was overwhelming, but Katrina felt a familiar feeling about this all.
This looked exactly like the screenshots that Becka showed her a few days ago when they first discussed the Unfounded Kingdom server that was going to release for Elder Tale. Did she really just transport into the game? Katrina shook her head, trying to shake that impossibility from her head but it was the only thought that would work to explain this.
She sighed. No matter what was happening, if this was a dream or not, she had to find her friend Becka. Standing in this small field was doing her no good.
"Better just head to the city I guess..." Katrina sighed with a ragged breath as she tried to stomach the anxiety that lingered in her. She had a bad feeling about all of this...but hoped that going to the city and finding someone who knows the answers may turn up...
Though, Katrina could not ignore the feeling that she was, at least, lying to herself.

While Ravenhardt tried to figure out if she was an anime character or not, she made her way rather aimlessly through the Londinium streets. As she made her way through, she heard many of the other adventurers freaking out. It was really as if the world had ended. It was a giant catastrophe. And there was nothing she could do about it. It wasn’t as if she actually knew what the hell was going on. What she thought was interesting though was that there were people who were completely calm. However that was kind of obvious as she could categorize herself underneath that particular category. However calm was a relative term. Some of the people that appeared calm had a strange look in their eye as if something was desperately wrong with them. Raven went out of her way to avoid those people as she walked.
Since she was walking alone, that had given her a chance to think things through about her particular situation. It was an odd situation… and odd was an understatement. She had no idea how she got sucked into the world or even if that was what happened. For all she knew, she could have been abducted and put into some strange virtual reality machine… okay maybe now she was thinking too much like an anime character. She needed to do something… though did she really want to do something about it? Yeah, it was a tad bit unexpected with a dash of creepy… but she also no longer had to deal with her idiot of an older sister or school… or anything like that honestly. Maybe being sucked or abducted or whatever into a game wasn’t a bad thing.
Being transported into a game aside… she needed to find Katrina if she had been sucked into the world along with her. Assuming that the game was how the abductors or whatever decided who were pulled, there was a very good chance that Katrina ended up in the game. After a moment, Raven recalled that her friend had ended up choosing the name Casylana for her character. It was a name she had used in another MMO game before so it wasn’t much of a surprise. Casy had made her avatar much like how she looked in the real world which Raven had kind of laughed at. After all, it was an MMO. You didn’t have to be yourself. You had the ability to be whoever and whatever you wanted. Nonetheless, it had been her friend’s choice and she had respected it. Though it would make it easier to find her… hopefully. She was tall and she had chosen short red hair. Shouldn’t be too hard to spot.
Once Raven had a fairly good image of her friend in her head, she set out to look for her friend. It took a while of walking around… and when she said a while, that was an understatement. She walked a good couple of miles she bet… though at some point in time she had ended up walking around in circles during part of that… but that was beside the point. It seemed to be hopeless… there were just too many people. Just as Ravenhardt was about to give up for the time being, something caught her eye. It was a tall figure… a tall figure with red hair… couldn’t be a coincidence could it?
“Casy!” Raven called out, “Casylana! Katrina! Is that you?”

The city was closer than originally thought. Katrina wondered if she was really just on the outskirts, or in the field of someone's property. But...who did it belong to if so? She mumbled to herself, telling herself not to worry about such hypothetical questions.
But...it was hard to not wonder about the position she is in now. As she walked, she felt herself feel uneasy. She felt...different somehow. She stopped for a moment and really looked at her hands. She thought before they looked like hers because who really thinks about such things from day to day? But these hands were cleaner and well-kept besides the light grass stains on her finger tips.
After a moment she kept walking, weaving through crowds of people looking as confused as she did. Some looked the part of village folk trying to carry on with their own lives, but some looked panicked or downright fearful of what was happening. Katrina was anxious sure, but she did not feel too scared? Truth be told, she was just as scared as anyone else could be but was too numb to express it. It just felt like a dream. Something unreal.
As such, she avoided asking too many questions herself as she passed by, focusing on getting to the town center. Becka must be there right? Oh, she hoped that she was right. However, the game screenshots did not prepare her for how vast this city was in a way, and Katrina forced herself to take a break by retreating behind a shop, sitting down at an unoccupied bench.
"Oh, what am I going to do!" She exclaimed, feeling her wandering completely hopeless and laying her head in her hands. Trying to stay calm and collected, Katrina closed her eyes for a second to think while she rested. The stats screen still floated in her vision, despite being a little blurry from not focusing on it. No...she was definitely not hallucinating.
But if she wasn't, what was happening exactly? "I won't get anywhere by myself." Katrina said aloud to herself and looked ahead of her at the bustling market in the street behind the shop. "I have to find Becka, no matter what." Even if she did not know either, she would rather commiserate in the company of a friend then deal with this all by her lonesome.
As Katrina made another round in the town, she found the crowds only got heavier. Of course, it was only logical to assume that other people would have the same plan to find their friends. An hour more must have past before Katrina was just ready to give up and find somewhere to sleep when she heard a certain voice.
“Casy!”
Casy? Katrina blinked, remembering that she chose that name in this...game she found herself in.
“Casylana! Katrina! Is that you?”
That sounded like Becka!
"Raven! Becka!" She called out, looking around before she saw a short girl in long purple hair coming towards her with relief and urgency in her eyes. She reached forward, meeting her friend and grabbing her arms. "Becka, it's you! You're Raven now?" Katrina breathed, for she felt the first time in relief. She almost felt like crying, but knew there was a far better time and place for things like that. In front of your friend in a busy city-square was definitely not a good time.
"Thank goodness I've found you..." She said after a moment. Even though Raven did not look like her friend, from the way held herself, Katrina knew. "Do you know what is going on? I woke up outside the square and there are more people than us out here now and...and...so many things..." She trailed off, feeling a nervousness rising. "I'm sorry, Raven. We should try and get away somewhere less crowded than this before we talk."
