[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]tehm [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Tim Lawrence [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 33 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual (married) [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Pomson Shi [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: tehm [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]tehm is a somewhat small man of short stature (5' 7", 135lb). It seems rather obvious that upon character creation "Random" was used to generate the features as one should not choose to be so ugly. His features are dark, his hair a shaggy bowl cut, his nose too large by half, his mouth crooked, eyes a milky white, slanted and set far apart. Although he has a hint of a goatee which has not quite filled in, this somehow serves only to make him look more preposterous rather than to mask any of his facial features. Although monks are known to wear simple garb, one wonders if perhaps tehm has taken this to the extreme. Shirtless, he appears to be wearing a burlap sack--cut down the middle and with corners cut out in order to create a kind of vest. His dirty cotton pants appear to be the kind that new monks start the game with, although his are so dirty and threadbare it is nearly impossible to be sure. Outside of the game, Tim Lawrence, was a rather small (5'7", 135lb), if nondescript man such as you would expect to see tucked away in a cubicle somewhere in some nondescript office building. For some time this had been exactly the case, working as a software engineer after college for 10 years before failing eyesight forced him away from computers. He is a contra-bass and speaks in a much lower register than most men. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Many would say that Tim's most defining personality characteristic in life was his lack of a personality. Incredibly serious and logical from a young age he rarely sought to make friends choosing instead to focus on music or gaming. Despite this, he was not a loner as through activities such as jazz band, music competitions, and online gaming he gradually made friends with others who shared similar traits. After his vision began failing him, Tim sought to become more empathetic with other people as it was becoming increasingly more difficult to read body language or faces. Although depression is a common result of disability, Tim has become, if anything, more lighthearted as it is difficult to take oneself too seriously while struggling to relearn common tasks such as navigating doorways. Since being stuck in Elder Tales after the Cataclysm, tehm has become something of an entertainer doing street shows by acting as a monkey and performing Tai Shing Pek Kwar(monkey fist) routines/kata, singing, playing, or generally anything he can do to earn money. Although many adventurers frown upon such antics, the People of the Land seem eager to watch and have proved a steady source of food and beer. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] In his youth, Tim was an avid gamer. He received an NES at launch when he was 5 and played video games for hours a day for 20+ years. When Elder Tales launched he was right there and has four level 90 characters accumulated over years of playing the game. Unfortunately, due to Retinitis Pigmentosa he has been unable to play video games for the last 3 years and was victim to the cataclysm purely on a fluke! While trying to figure out how to use his new RBD (refreshable braille display) he inadvertently auto-logged into Elder Tales on an old throw-away alt just seconds before the cataclysm. Outside of gaming Tim was a rather quiet though happy child. From a very early age he had a love of music and computers and has carried this with him throughout his life. He was always in the school jazz band, taught computer classes at his highschool beginning his sophomore year, began playing bass for various local bands in his early teens, and majored in computer science and music performance (vocal) at university. While a freshman at university he began dating his long time friend, Rebecca, and they were married in January the following year. After university Tim landed a job as a database administrator for a large banking firm and worked in that capacity for 10 years prior to retiring due to deterioration of his vision. He has spent the last 6 months on disability with rapidly deteriorating vision learning to read braille and adjust to this new life. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"]tehm is -BLIND- and thus perpetually affected by the [blinded] debuff. He is never to be found without a walking stick and a dirty rag tied loosely over his eyes. |

It is activated when the monk uses an alcohol-based drink made by a Brewer. While inhibition by alcohol would normally lower fighters' coordination, this skill causes a heightening of some of the monk's natural reflexes, raising their evasion rate and providing a small chance for the monk to passively dodge attacks entirely. Still, this status only lasts as long as the effect of the drink. So please drink responsibly. [attr="class","skill"]Somersault Kick: The user performs a somersault with an outstretched leg, aiming to kick the monster in a preemptive strike while gathering some momentum. This move can be also be used in mid-air in order to propel the user with a slight upward momentum, allowing them to gain about another second of air time. [attr="class","skill"]Martial Vault: A skill that is performed with the help of a long-shafted weapon, preferably a one-handed staff. The Monk strikes the weapon along the ground and performs a spinning kick with the weapon as a balance. This attack is followed up by transitioning from the spin into a midair vault. This leaves the Monk in perfect position to use the weapon to strike down upon the opponent. Take heed that as Monks do not have weapon masteries for most weapon types, a melee Martial Vault should be performed with a martial arts specialized weapon in order to deal decent damage. [attr="class","skill"]Wyvern Kick: The user takes to the sky by performing a high jump, then kicking down toward a target. Often, the monk will then perform another jump to maintain the height advantage. This skill is particularly taken by monks for its vaulting properties. [attr="class","skill"]Battle Perception: Toggle skill. Battle perception allows the Pathfinder to notice nearby monsters more easily by displaying their names and levels above their heads. It allows the Pathfinder to detect monsters about ten feet further than a normal character, and is most useful for preventing ambushes. [attr="class","skill"]Timber: Toggle skill. Woodcrafters naturally have an affinity for chopping and carving wood, making their abilities key in harming monsters that happen to be arboreal in nature. Woodcrafters deal 20% more damage to Plant-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Plant-type monsters upon a successful hit.
