Hiro playfully smiled as he looked across the woodlands. It looked like it was going to be a good day to fight, for sure. He wasn't fighting normal, level 1 monsters this time around, though. He was fighting Level 6 and above little pieces of shit now. However, they were still slimes, which was a little degrading in his eyes. Why were there more powerful slimes in this world, he wondered. But, shrugging it off and enjoying the daylight, he prepared a fun-filled day of Chaining Massacre. He was out to fight a total of ten Green Slimes. Screw that Dull Green Slimes shit, he was playing with the big boys now! He didn't even realize just how hyper-active and enjoyed he really was at the moment, but he went with it. Might as well have fun with it, right? At least, that was his take on it. So, without much further adieu, he charged into a large clearing, spotting the total number of Slimes just before him. There were all ten, just like he had hoped. He formed a massive grin, before continuing into the small meadow-like clearing.
He brought it upon himself that the monsters would automatically aggro him, without so much as a warning, or something to that effect. Hiro figured that this would happen eventually, and just continued walking. It wasn't at all long before the first of his enemies spotted him, a total of three locking onto him immediately. They growled, adorably, and started hopping their way over towards him. He smirked as he got into a fighting position, readying himself for the first attacker to make its move. Just as he thought this, the closest slime to him began to leap directly at him. It was at this moment that Hiro had envisioned his Tiger Echo Fist, and slammed the ground with his hand. The shockwave sent the monster up into the air, and Hiro wasted no time in leaping up afterwards. He very soon after called out "Wyvern Kick!" for the first time, and dived his leg right into the slime, and then back into the ground. He used the momentum shift, as well as the gelatinous body of the slime, to propel him back up into the air, where he cupped his hands together. Once he reached the peak of his rebounded jump, he shouted out "Aura Dragon Punch!" and fired a small ball of energy into the dying slime, sending it into the netherworld for destroyed data. Hiro landed right afterwards, firmly on his feet, and grinned maniacally towards the next two foes. Good thing fear wasn't programmed into them, or else they'd have been sent running in the opposite direction.
The other two monsters kept their charge, but Hiro was unwavering. However, he did manage to use up a fair deal of his MP, about 30% of it in just one go. That meant, for each skill he used, about 10% of his MP was used. That was certainly a lot of MP, even for his own standards. This didn't matter, though. He might as well just use those skills to finish enemies off, whenever he got bored enough. For now, he had to focus on these two enemies, in tandem. He wouldn't want to take them both on at the same time, but it looked like he might need to, at this rate. He let his enemies approach him at their own pace, before attacking them right back. Once they were close enough, the two monsters attack at about the same time. However, one was just behind the other, so Hiro had plenty of time to retaliate to one of them, and dodge the other. Hiro ducked out of the way of the first one, and drove an uppercut into the body of the second slime, sending it up into the air a little ways. He turned quickly around, and performed a sweeping low kick just as the first one landed, knocking it to the side a little ways. He brought his foot leg back up, continuing the spinning motion, and roundhouse kicked the first slime as it fell back towards the ground. He felt a little bit over his height and strength advantage of these beasts, but it had to be done. How else was he going to get higher levels? Of course, that was the purpose of this entire trip, so he couldn't really say otherwise.
The one that was swept to the side came up behind the Monk, and landed a cheap shot to his back, before bouncing back off. He fell forward a bit, recoiling a little. He was about to get angry, when he noticed that this monster only did about 7% of his total health. A hit like that on an Enchanter, or some other mage class, would've certainly dealt at least two times that amount. And he wasn't even wearing any advanced armor! He was still in his cruddy starter cloth armor! Of course, he was going to change that out soon, but it didn't matter all that much for the time being. For now, his weaker-than-him opponents needed to be dealt with. He turned around to quickly assault the slime with his hand, but missed, as the slime had already fallen back to the ground. Using the momentum, once again, he sweep kicked the monster, this time even further. Just as he finished this motion, the player forced his leg up to attack the other slime, which was about to get an aerial shot at him. He followed this up with his other leg, in a semi-bicycle kick motion. The only reason it was a semi-bicycle kick was because it was still on the ground, where he didn't have to flip his entire body around just to finish the move. The slime he had just kicked slammed into the ground nearby him, before disappearing with the other slime he had already killed. Hiro: 2. Slimes: 0.
This left the weaker one, who was already far beyond most of its health. Hiro was rather surprised at just how much damage he was able to do. It's actually pretty impressive, even if he's playing his own tune at the moment. The slime was wriggling and writhing just nearby him, and all he really had to do was stamp down on it to get rid of it. So, he did. No sense in making it a glorious death, since it was just a program. He did, however, enjoy the kill, in a psychopathic kind of way. It really didn't matter all that much to him, despite how he felt on the inside. It was just a game, after all, and crushing those who were meant to be destroyed is only the way of the world. He paused for a moment, as he thought about that. He realized just how much like his parents he sounded, always saying that the lessers were meant to be crushed, and the strong to come out on top. While this was true, he didn't really like the fact. He guessed that that made him a little hypocritical, but he shrugged it off. Which was also very hypocritical. Man, did his parents do a good job or what? Actually, he shouldn't even think about the real world right no, as no one in this world is from that world. At least, not in his immediate area, of this he was sure. Mostly sure. Pretty sure. He kept thinking over it a few times, as he approached the next set of slimes. They liked to be in groups of three or four, as there was a group of three and a group of four left. Hunting in packs certainly meant victory, in most scenarios. But, for a Monk, parties were just icing on a very powerful knuckle-cake. He laughed a bit at the thought, and proceeded to the set of slimes.
Again, the monsters triggered Aggro long before he had time to. Their aggro range was pretty large, from what he gathered. Probably a bit more-so than the Duller versions of these guys. That was probably what separated the Dull from the Normal, to make a cruddy analogy for it. Oh well, here goes another combo-induced fight! He was excited to have such a great day as this, and was even more excited for the AP he was potentially going to get afterwards. He hoped that he could level up at least a few times, just to make ends meet. He'd like to be one of the strongest players, reaching level 90 as one of the first to do so. He'd also love to be able to create that airship he had long envisioned. And by long envisioned, he meant ever since Mechanic was a Crafting subclass. The movement of objects and how fluidly they could be used in unison always sparked his interest, even if his parents were leaning more towards him leaving an important impression on their family, and making the family name even more influential. He had no idea what his parents really wanted out of him, and he figured that he'd just leave that to them. He was content with the way he was right now, but he was certain Mother and Father Blackbourne would disapprove of him being trapped in a video game. But, this is probably the only place where he could really expand beyond the world of his parents, and truly live how he wanted to live. But, there was something beating in his chest, and it was actually pretty painful. What was it? Guilt of not wanted to be like the family? The outstanding pressure of being a Blackbourne? The more he thought about it, the more obvious it became. It was the Slimes.
After having realized that he had just disappeared into his thought for about 10 seconds, the trio of slimes were ramming into him with full force. He didn't even realize it, noticing that about 40% of his total HP was gone already. Shocked to the point of falling backwards, he quickly executed his Tiger Echo Fist, to knock the enemies away. He hyperventilated for a moment, before calming back down. No more family thoughts. Those could prove lethal. Well, it wouldn't actually kill him, it would just stop him from getting the AP from this quest, which would really suck if- He cut off his own thought process there, because there was kind of a fight going on, and he was a little late to it. GG, Scrub. Hiro thought to himself, as he got into a fighting position again. The three slimes landed, and he went to the one closest to him, beginning to beat down on it mercilessly. He first vaulted onto its body, performing a forward handspring away from the monster, and then turning back around. He delivered yet another sweeping low kick onto it, and plopped it onto the top of his leg. He rolled forward, throwing the enemy up into the air, letting it land a distance away. One was weakened now, and the other two still had a fair deal of health left. Tiger Echo Fist wasn't all that strong yet, so that may need to be worked on. The other two began approaching him, having recoiled from their falls. They had a little more than half their life left, so he needed to dispatch them before he killed the last one. He did a whirlwind-like maneuver to get back up onto his feet, readying his stance once more.
By this point, the two slimes were jumping at him, one after the other again. He sighed, dodged the first, and blasted his fist up into the body of the second one. He turned around, sweeping kicked the other one, and stood back up. He looked at them, and remembered just how limited of an AI these monsters really had. So limited that they performed the same attacking strategy when in more basic numbers. He had to smirk a little, laughing a bit at how easy this was in the long run. Or rather, how easily it could all be done. Planting his hand into the ground behind him, he made a back handspring to head towards the monster behind him. He crashed his foot onto the body of the opponent, dealing a great deal of health to it. He picked his foot up for a moment, and crushed it again. This sent the monster to hell, or wherever data went when it died. Perhaps it was chilling with the other three monsters he had just ended, but that might be a bit of a stretch. Which is a bit ironic, he thought, as he turned to face the second slime. Walking towards it, he figured that it would hop up and get right into his face. Which, ultimately, it did. All he needed to do to kill it was slap it to the side, with enough force that it would hit the ground. And, that was pretty much it for that monster. All that remained was the one which he weakened the paragraph before. That should be much, so Hiro thought he'd make it fun. He leaned down, grabbed a big rock, and hurled it at the enemy slime. Sadly, it just absorbed into its body, giving it a rock in its stomach. That can't taste good, so he looked for an even bigger rock. He lifted it up, and launched it with great force. The small boulder flattened the monster, and he knew he killed it from there. The life bar disappeared, after draining to zero. Also, the ticker on the side that showed his total kill count, out of 10, went from five to six. Which meant this quest was more than half done.
Good thing, too, since the last bunch of slimes were already on their way. Good, that should make things easier for him. He got into his fighting stance, and wondered how many combos he could form with just the three moves that he had. Luckily enough, the enemies were all swarming around him, so that was pretty good. They all circled him, and he smiled evilly, blasting out another Tiger Echo Fist. The slimes landed right on the shockwave, just as he landed his attack, sending them up even higher into the sky. He followed suit, and launched up into the sky, performing a Wyvern Kick onto the one to his direct front, springing off of it as it hit the ground, and maintaining altitude. Instead of chaining the Aura Dragon Punch, he instead chained together a falling fist strike onto the enemy to his right. He vaulted off of that one, and landed a small distance away from the grouping of monsters. He got right back into fighting position, as the other two monsters started hopping towards him. Another one-two combo, he thought, and decided to do things a bit differently now. Instead of dodging the first and hitting the second, why not just hit one into the other? So, he did! He punched the first slime with enough force to send it right into the second one, just behind it. The powerful hit knocked them both further away from the first two he had attacked, which gave them the incentive to attack him right then. He dodged the two of them, one after the other, and found himself fighting a two-front war by this point. This would be hard to do, and required a great deal of focus and willpower. He was sure he could do it, despite the lowered odds.
Odds never mattered much to him, as he always brought about his greatest potential when the odds were stacked against him. This almost never mattered to him, since he was a very strange and different person to begin with. Usually clashing with the ideology of his parents and other members of his family, but still maintaining a can-do attitude was key to his character. And, he'd never let a good moment go by without a hearty laugh! He smirked as the two duos of monsters started to advance towards him simultaneously. This was going to be a wonderful conflict, and he knew it. The enemies all did their one after the other moves, in jumping right at him. He used a great deal of his agility to bob and weave between them, as they went by. He hit the last one on his right side, dealing enough damage to kill it. He didn't keep track of which one was which, but he knew that at least one of them was about to die. And, it looked like he had dealt enough damage to that specific one to kill it. Lucky him, it seemed. Of course, his entire being was surrounded by luck, which also added to his characteristic. After that, the three remaining slimes started to attack in a constant chain of one after the other after the other. They formed a constant stream, so Hiro simple dodged one after the other. He made sure his movements were fluid, and in time with the monsters. He didn't bother attacking them, as he just loved the feeling of dodging them over and over again. He felt that he should probably get it done soon enough, but he had fun where he could, at least. That was the important thing, he thought, and the AP would come in time. But, soon enough, his impatience would catch him, and he would actually go ahead and kill them. And, it was about that time, it seemed.
He plunged his fist into the body of one of the slimes, knocking it out of the circuit. The other two made the appropriate adjustment to attack one after the other again, which he dodged at a slower rate. He felt like he was in the Matrix or something, judging by how he was moving. Side to side, leaning forward or backward, it didn't really matter all that much to him, so long as he kept moving. His impatience finally reached its peak, and he planted another punch to one of the circulating slimes. It looked like it was getting tired from the constant attacking, so they were moving a bit slower than usual. This meant that fun time was almost done. Hiro had only these three left to destroy, before calling it a day in this area. To be perfectly honest, he was feeling a bit tired himself. But, in any case, he brought his other fist up into the last one circulating over his body, and managed to end that one, as well. There were now only two left, one being tired as all heck, and the other still making its way back over. The sun was still high in the sky, so he still had plenty of time to get back to town before doing anything else. The one good thing about doing this quest in particular was the fact that he was going to get a fair deal of AP from this quest. He was grateful for that, but the small amount of money he would get from this didn't make it all that appealing. However, it seemed like there wasn't much to buy at this given time. So, perhaps it leveled out a bit. While he would've liked a bit more cash, he wanted the levels and AP more.
The last two decided to attack in tandem, making it possibly easier for them. But, Hiro knew that this was a suicide mission by this point. He went ahead and let them do another couple of hops over him, but actually managed to get hit by the two of them. This brought his health down further, below the 50% mark. He scoffed a bit, realizing that they were so tired that he could no longer lean beneath their attacks. So, it was either start dodging to the sides, or end them. He decided to end them, and punched one as he dodged to the side of its attack, sending it a little ways away from him, and then ultimately disappearing. This left the last one there for him to destroy. It looked like it was panting a bit, and he went ahead and picked it up. He felt like it was a little inhumane of him to end it when it was in this state. He was sure that if he turned in the quest right now, for less AP, he'd feel a bit better. But, then again, there was the eventuality of another player coming along and killing it. It would probably be another player that would just end up not feeling quite as guilty as he would about it, and just end it mercilessly. There might, however, be the chance of another humane player who left the slime alone, and just moved on to accept less AP from the quest, like Hiro would. But, before he could consider it longer, the monster bopped him in the face, bringing his health down to 40%. That's it. Last straw. Time for it to go boom. He drop kicked the monster, sending it high into the sky, and watched as it exploded into tiny bits of data. That little bastard got what it deserved, despite his previous thinking.
And so ended the adventure into the forestry for today. Hiro had killed a total of all 10 Green Slimes, and felt pretty rewarded from it. However, having taken a total of 60% of his life in damage, that might subtract a bit from his overall feeling. Oh well, it was over. He didn't think much more of it as he started walking back the way he came. A few other players started to charge by him, looking for a kill or two. To their dismay, none of the slimes were left, as only ten spawned in that area for about an hour, and then a new set would spawn. They were probably giving him pretty dirty looks for that, but he didn't really care all that much. He sighed a little, glad that the mission was over now. Then again, he liked being in that area, destroying slimes. He might actually come back and do it again sometime soon. It was probably worth all the EXP he got from it, despite the lack of money that this quest would reward him. He shrugged it off, and continued on his way back to town. Another successful day in the life of a Monk. Another successful day in the world of Elder Tale. And, possibly another successful day to come. He wasn't sure yet, but he'd worry about that when it came.
Green Slimes Slain: 10/10
Total Words: 3790
