“Caerbannog!,” he called after her to get her to hurry up so that they could leave the Abbey and find her a place to stay. Even with her complaints that burst forth so often, she wasn’t going to be able to get away with it, not when she was on the street like that, crying and just a sore sight overall. “There’s no point arguing. With the state I saw you in today, you have to stay somewhere. I don’t care where, as long as it’s near me and I can check on you,” he said, bringing out his overly-concerned brotherly tone that Kyuu says is his unwanted step-mom voice. He would drag her if he had to, making sure that she wouldn’t run away by holding tightly to her hand. He dragged her towards the center where all the inns were.
This, though, was a lot like the time when her family was beginning to go through issues at home. Her mother was about to leave her family, her second year in college. He was on his fourth year, but he had already grown close to Neun at this point. He was pretty knowledgeable of all the things that were occurring in her household because she vented to him every night about it, but there was one time that those memories stuck out. It was when she told him her mother was leaving, and taking most of her family’s fortune away from them. Ryuu went ballistic, standing up and trying to do something about it. When he got up, she asked him what he was going to do. “I’m going to tell your mother off. She’s Japanese, and she’s making a bad name for us,” he said. “Anata no okāsan wa watashitachi no hitobito no hajidesu! exclaiming in his maiden tongue. This meant “your mother is a disgrace to our people,” a true and justified description of her.
Kyuu wouldn’t have it though. She grabbed his hand and tried to stop him, pulling with her might to stop him from going out there, finding where her mother was, and cursing her in all the Japanese curse words he could think of. Ryuu moved towards the door, dragging Kyuu along, telling her, “You should be furious with her!,” he said, somewhat displeased with her unwillingness to confront her mother and her soon-to-be trophy husband. He opened the door, ready to leave, but Kyuu was holding him back, using her legs as stoppers so that he couldn’t move. Her grip on his wrists were tightening, but Ryuu couldn’t notice it.

Having just dealt with Stryke, the black-haired girl did not think that her friend Kumori was serious when he told her that he would find a place for her to stay. She did not like inns; nope, not at all. They were full of strangers, some nice and some icky but strangers all the same. Oftentimes, inns were loud and Caerbannog did not like it when she was awakened by loud sounds. She also liked to sleep in unless the day required her to get up earlier. And so thus far, the streets were the best places for her to stay. But Kumori thought otherwise; the doting assassin who thought himself her stepmother. Initially, she swore that she would rejoice on the day that he found someone else to babysit, but in truth she was okay with it for the samurai had no one else to look after her. He was still annoying though.
Across the streets of Londenium, the pair walked on looking like a grown man who was dragging his younger sibling along. She protested, not too loudly, but loud enough for him to hear. Her protests ranged from attempts to get his hand off her, to grabbing his ponytail, calling him ‘obaasan’; then finally, and luckily nowhere near a crowd, she yelled "Let go, you siscon!" But she regretted that as soon as she said it. Truth was that, it was a joke made by her cousins. Since she was an only child and Ryuu looked after her, it seemed as if one adopted the other. Instantly, her expression changed from annoyance to regret, and then sadness- followed by an embarrassed “I’m sorry... “
An apology was the least that the girl could do after all that Ryuunosuke had done for her. She never questioned his reasons for helping her, partially due to her non-confrontational nature and also due to his honesty and apparent innocence. While they both avoided trouble or talking back to their elders, Kyuu had a mean streak whenever her bottled up emotions reached a breaking point. A certain evening some years ago was one of those instances. Ryuu was studying for some important exams which were especially difficult since he was on his fourth year in college. The blue-eyed girl, with her game system stuck in a bag along with some new titles, a few days worth of clothes and her beloved plushies Kuromimi and the black panther kitty, barged into the young man’s home and marched straight into his room.
She did not want to talk about her problem, so Ryuu let her be for a while. He thought that it was just another one of those usual bad days, though the bag stuffed with things should have alerted him that something serious was going on. Ryuu was preoccupied with his studies, and so the girl was allowed to scatter her things all over the bedroom floor while she sat in front of the massive screen and started up a game. Moments later there came a “ YOU LOSE. TRY AGAIN? “, which Kyuu quickly answered with a ‘Yes’. After the third loss, the girl was furious and she threw her controller at the screen. Ryuu noticed that and his own patience was running out because the girl had been loud. He told her to ‘grow up’ or some variant thereof, to which the girl replied by turning up the game volume to its maximum settings.
And then, Ryuunosuke exploded. He yelled at her and told her to get out of his room. Kyuu had never seen him so angry before, and so the girl cried right then and there. Her friend did seem to have a very soft spot for her, because as soon as the girl wailed, his demeanor changed completely and he tried to console her. He even offered ice cream or cookies, bribes which usually worked. But the girl was much too distressed for sweets, so instead, between sobs and a lot of tears, she told Ryuu about what her mother had done, and what the woman intended to do. Her father did not want trouble and so he just signed off the papers to get rid of the horrid woman.
Kyuu even thought that they would lose the house that she grew up in; no matter how cold it was, it was still home. But there was no ‘home’ to go back to, so the girl packed up some things and intended to live with friends and relatives for a while. Why did she go to Ryuu’s in the first place? His calm nature and level-headedness were probably the most obvious reasons. Kyuu was in a bad mood so she did not want to be around her relatives who were equally pissed off. Not just yet. But that night she saw a different side to her friend, and indeed it was a mystery as to how dense she was with regards to their relationship. Ryuunosuke seemed very angry with the whole matter, even angrier than the girl was. He was angry enough to speak in Japanese at least while still maintaining an out-of-place polite tone.
The situation was suddenly reversed, and Kyuu was the one who told Ryuu to calm down. It wasn't working so far and what with his build and height, using her own weight did next to nothing to stop him. The girl did not want to cause trouble; she did not care for her mother, but still she respected her father’s decision. That was why, for certain problems she would turn to her father, and for other problems especially regarding family and school issues, she would turn to Ryuu. She had to make him calm down or distract him, and quickly too!
“ I- I got new games! “ Kyuu suddenly yelled, “ Play games, then... then... s- “
She looked around the room, specifically at the reading material that was piled up on Ryuu’s desk.
“ Study, okay? “ she said, her voice small and rather unconvincing. Kyuu had always disliked studying, but she had a reason to do it at that point, “ Because I need some scholarship things... “

**Flashback**
“I g-got new games!” she yelled, trying to get his attention. “Play games, then… then…s-study… study okay?” she told him in a calmer voice. He stopped, trying to drag Kyuu out of his room and going over to her house and yelling at her mother. His breathing began to normalize and the strength in his arms had been released, letting his arm fall, and probably out of the grasp of Kyuu’s hand. He looked down, contemplating of just leaving and going to her house anyways, or staying here, following Kyuu’s wishes. He turned around and walked over to Kyuu and hugged her, holding her head in his arms. “You’re my family… so if you don’t want me to go, I won’t, but please, next time… tell me about it okay? Onii-chan is here to help you, and I’ll always be here to help you,” he said to her, using the two title he hated the most. Onii-chan. Although he hated it, he knew it was true that he acted like her brother, but he still hated the title, especially when her cousins were around and he was forced to go along because Kyuu wanted him to.
**End Flashback**
“Let go you sis-con!” she yelled out. It was just as bad as when her cousins called him that. He stopped, as if ready to scold her. His grip didn’t tighten, rather he let go of it. She said sorry, in a sincere voice. She knew it was a taboo word, and she said it anyways. Ryuu turned around and looked down at Kyuu, raising his hand, looking as if ready to slap her, but the slap would not come. Instead, a pat on her head was made and Ryuu smiled at her. “You’re my family, and I’m going to take care of you, because your mother couldn’t, and because your father asked me to. I hadn’t been very good at it as of late, so I need to make up for it,” he said. “I found the perfect place for you, but there’s a condition that you need to accept. You’ll see when we get there,” he said with a smile.
**Flashback**
It was a not-so-distant memory that he was remembering. While that ordeal happened only last year, after his exams and the divorce, Ryuu visited the house of the Schwarz. Kyuu was in class while he was there, because he wanted to surprise Kyuu when she got home. It seemed that Mr. Schwarz was planning to pay the rest of her college, but at the expense of finding a new place to live, somewhere further away. This meant that he wouldn’t be able to speak to or hang out with Kyuu as much. He had decided to give his goodbyes to her. He knocked on the door of the Schwarz house and it opened. He saw a familiar face, but one that seemed exhausted. If he didn’t know any better, it felt like someone had died. Ryuu wanted to grow angry and yell about Kyuu’s mother, but he refrained and simply gave his hand to him to shake. “I’m sorry, Mr. Schwarz… about all of this. Kyuu’s mother… she shames the name of my people,” he said shaking his head, wanting to spit on the floor, but he did not wish to dirty the property of the man who resided in it currently.
Ryuu sighed, hanging his head low, unsure of what to say. Thankfully, Mr. Schwarz knew what to do. He invited the young man in. “Come in Ryuu… Kyuu’s in class right now… she should be back in 15 minutes,” he said to him. Ryuu let out a slight smile, but the atmosphere called for it to be much more gloomier than what he let out for a single second. “Tea? Coffee? Water? Anything you want to drink or eat?” he asked him. “Just a cup of water is fine,” he replied. The few seconds it took Mr. Schwarz to bring the water to him felt like an eternity. The tension in the room made the air feel thick. It felt somewhat hard to breathe because of Ryuu was unsure of how to console a man who was getting a divorce, and a friend who was losing her home. Mr. Schwarz spoke up again after placing the glass of water on the table next to him. “Ryuu, thank you for taking care of Kyuu for the last two years… you’re the only real friend she’s made…,” Ryuu looked up at him and shook his head. “No, she’s taken care of me a good deal as well. She doesn’t know it, but she helped me get through some of my own personal problems, ones even I haven’t told her about,” he said. He grabbed the cup of water and brought it to his lips, but he put it back down without taking a sip. “I… I had a sister before…,” he said to Mr. Schwarz. “I was driving the car… and a drunk collided into my car, on the side my sister was sitting,” he said. “She was 13 at the time, and I was 18, and I was taking her out to watch a movie and then get some ice cream for her birthday,” he said. Tears began to form at the bottom of his eyes. He quickly wiped them away, trying to hide them. His pride as a man was at stake, but it was difficult, with the memories of his dead sister beginning to emerge. “I… I couldn’t do anything to help her!” he cried out to Mr. Schwarz, “I wanted to get her out… but she was dead. DoA they told me. D-dead on arrival,” he let out, almost choking on the ‘dead’ part. Mr. Schwarz was kind, as he did not interrupt him, rather he simply listened to his ‘son’ about his plight.
Ryuu rubbed his eyes with his right forearm, keeping the tears away as best as possible, but he was failing at it. “It took me a while,” he started, straightening out his voice, “to get over it. At first, I didn’t try to pay attention to it, submerging myself in school, games, and sex. I tried to keep my mind off of it, tried to bottle it up and leave it in me. I was successful, for 2 years… keeping it bottled in me, but then everything came crashing down. The girl that I slept with, dated, and was almost willing to marry, decided to leave me for another guy. My care for another person began to be unfulfilled, and for about 6 months, I began losing a hold of reality. I was ready to bring myself to an end. By this time, I had already met Kyuu, but I hadn’t gotten to know her yet, but slowly but surely, she began to remind me of my sister… my little sister that I lost those years ago. While she may not be as talkative as my sister, she definitely was just as clumsy,” he chuckled at the word, “and kind.”
Ryuu began to smile now, remembering the fond memories that he had had with Kyuu. He’d never hurt her physically, at least outside of the context of joking, and he never saw anything developing more than a very close friendship. He simply found another little sister that he could take care of. It had taught him that there is more to life than loss, and that there was more to love than just sex. It was Kyuu who had taught him what it really meant to love again. To love like a brother, and to love like a boyfriend. While he did have a girlfriend or two and many other prospects during his time with Kyuu, she didn’t like most of the ones she met, so he’d have to break it off. Her instincts were correct, as she saw reason through all of his emotions. He smiled and nodded. “She saved me Mr. Schwarz. It’s hard for me to let go, and I don’t know how you would feel about staying at my house, but… I just wanted to let you know that it’s not only her that relies on me… I rely on her just as much. I may not show my appreciation enough to her, but she saved me, and I cannot take away from that,” he said to Mr. Schwarz. “Because she’s my sister, you’re my father as well. It’s hard for me to see you go like this, but I know I have to,” he said. Tears began to overflow from his eyes. He was losing a sister again, but they were much better terms than the last time, however that sole reason did not console very much.
Mr. Schwarz smiled and put his hand on Ryuu’s shoulders and patted it. “My boy… she has found a good brother… and I ask you that if I’m no longer around, that you take care of her… She’s my precious daughter and your precious sister… Keep her safe, Ryuu… my son,” he said to him. Ryuu stood from his chair and caressed Mr. Schwarz, his tears continuing to fall. Ryuu hated goodbyes, but this one, this one was worth it. He wanted to tell someone why he cared so much for Kyuu and why he repaid her only in kindness. This was the first person he told about it and who better than her father?
After a few minutes of hugging and Mr. Schwarz patting the Japanese man’s back, Ryuu stepped away from Mr. Schwarz and bowed to him. “I promise to take care of her, if you are not around. I solemnly swear that I will do no matter what, to keep her safe,” he said to him. Mr. Schwarz simply placed his hands on Ryuu’s shoulders once again and brought him up from his bowing position. “I know.. Ryuu, I know,” he would say to him in a soft voice. Ryuu sat back down and began drinking some of the water he was unable to drink earlier.
After a few seconds of silence to recuperate from the previous topic, Ryuu finally said something on his own volition to start a conversation. “I’m a Financial Advisor,” he said to Mr. Schwarz. “I know people, lawyers, especially divorce lawyers that can help you get through this ordeal,” he said to him, trying to do what he could with his limited resources. “If you need me to, I can give him a call,” he said. Mr. Schwarz smiled but shook his head in rejection to the offer. “Thank you, Ryuu, but everything happens for a reason, and I have my own lawyer looking into it… If I lose my house and my money, it doesn’t matter to me, so long as I have my Kyuu. As long as I have the girl I watched grow from childhood to adulthood, well sort of,” he chuckled, “then I will be happy. Thank you for caring for me, and Kyuu… we owe you so much,” he smiled as tears began to form at the bottom of his eyes as well. “No, you owe me nothing. I am your son after all… I owe you everything,” he said with a smile.
Throughout the next 5-7 minutes, Ryuu and Mr. Schwarz began talking about normal things, trying to take their mind off the divorce and their mind off the topic of his dead sister. Soon, Kyuu would be home, and they would exchange their final goodbyes, but Ryuu knew they wouldn’t be permanent.
**End Flashback**
After a few more minutes of walking, Ryuu finally arrived at the destination. He pointed at the building. If she looked at the status of the building, she would see the words: Guild: Aeryn, Guild Leader: Kumori, Members: 1. He smiled towards Kyuu and presented it to her. “I want you to join my guild… and I want this to be your home. I want to make a family full of good people so that you’ll never be alone anymore. Kyuu… this is your home now,” he said as he invited her to the guild. The guild house was in a more secluded place, which would allow for her to sleep in and do what she wanted whenever she wanted.

That night all those years ago when the Schwarz family fell apart, the sole child of the parents had taken refuge in her friend’s house. As he hugged her and made it clear that he would be there for her in those trying times, she nodded wordlessly and she rested against his chest. No more tears flowed for those would only hurt her eyes. Kyuu then pulled away and picked out one of the new games which two people could play together. Every now and then, she would cheat by flipping Ryuu’s controller, poking his eyes or headbutting his shoulder, but it was all in good fun. Playing videogames rarely went well with studying though, and only when the girl fell asleep, with her head upon the black kitty plushie and her arms around Kuromimi, was Ryuu able to go back to his studies.
The girl eventually returned to her own house. Her father said that he would fight for their home0 at least. It was not just a house, a cold stone structure, but the place where his daughter grew up and the one thing which he had started building even before his marriage to the wicked woman. That was a fact which he could fight for, but the expenses would be extensive what with most of his fortunate already gone. Kyuu would have to move out soon and go with her father to a place she’d not gone to before. The fight for the house, her college expenses- they would not be covered without some sacrifice. She was already studying for some scholarships, but still the move was necessary. They could not live in the house anyway, not while the case was still ongoing.
During one of the last few days which she spent in that part of Germany, Kyuu came home to a rare sight. Ryuunosuke was there and had been speaking with her father; there were traces of tears on the young man’s eyes. Father and daughter had to leave soon, so Ryuu probably came to say goodbye. Usually a crybaby, the blue-eyed girl refrained from making the situation any worse. She had some sense after all. If they were saying their farewells, it should be a good memory, she thought. The girl told the two men about her last day at the college, more scholarships that she wanted to apply for, and anything else that she planned. A little later, she dragged Ryuu up to her room and made the young man pack up her mountain of plushies. He did so without as much as a single complaint. He’s probably holding back his sadness too, she thought.
What was supposed to be a simple task of packing stuff up and sealing boxes turned out to be a trainwreck. The girl kept tripping on everything that was on the floor, and at one point a whole yard of tape stuck to her hair. The preparations for their departure was finished late in the evening, and when Kyuu’s father checked up on the two, he found them in the middle of the room amidst neatly packed boxes. He knew that only Ryuu could have done that for his own daughter was clumsy beyond belief. Beside the girl’s bed which was already devoid of beddings and plushies, the young man sat with his back against it. He seemed exhausted, sound asleep with his hair messed up in places. On his lap there sat little Kyuu Schwarz who tightly hugged her black rabbit plushie named Kuromimi. Her head rested against her friend’s chest, her breathing calm, relaxed. Traces of tape remained on her hair; she’d have to get rid of that somehow. Her father laughed at the sight and put his own blanket, still unpacked, around the two to keep them warm. He knew that the following morning would be difficult, and the least that he could give them was a peaceful night’s rest.
Presently, Kumori and Caerbannog were in some quiet part of Londenium. Fortunate timing for the girl suddenly yelled out an unwanted word. She flinched at the sight of his hand, still having memories of her mother’s abuse, but the warm hand instead was placed on her head. A gentle pat and a smile were Ryuu’s reply to her unkindness. She listened to his words intently, not really sure about what he meant until they reached the destination. A guild named Aeryn with Ryuu’s in-game name designated as the guild leader. She was then invited to the guild after her friend made his intentions clear.
The samurai had been nothing but a brat in the real world, or so she thought. Had she been that same brat, the girl would have rejected the guild invitation simply because she could. Also, Caerbannog did not like the idea of working with other people. In MMOs, she was a very active participant and when the guild leader slacked off, all the work was usually piled on her. She did not want that to happen- a selfish, childish thought. But thinking back to those years in the past, and how the two had been separated by a great distance and lack of free time, she knew that if Ryuu did not truly care for her then he would not have called out to her in that hole in a wall near Westminster Abbey. He was even careful not to call her by her real name, and instead used one of her handles ‘BlackSky’.
So, although with some apprehension and worry regarding the presence of other people, Caerbannog accepted Kumori’s guild request for her to join Aeryn. In a world where life was unending with no fear of death, each adventurer had to find a goal that he would aim for, and a place where he would belong, somewhere to call home. Caerbannog could not guarantee the success of the guild but as long as she was alive, there was hope. The heavy feeling on her chest began to vanish, thanks to the one who’d always been by her side. A bright red blush tinted her face as the blue-eyed girl stepped in front of Kumori. She looked up at him, and then she reached out to caress his cheek. Slowly her face moved closer to his, and her hand reached to the back of his neck. Closer- closer... then she yanked at his ponytail, ran into the guild house and locked herself in one of the rooms.
Heh, sucker.

With the gestures that she was making, he wasn’t sure what to expect other than a kiss on his cheek or something a nice gesture one would normally give a brother when he showed kindness and care for his sister, but nope. A pull of his hair, somewhat playful, but somewhat painful as well. After he came to realize what she was doing, Ryuu lifted his head up, trying to alleviate the pain and loosen the tension of his hair. Before he could do anything to yell at her, she ran off and locked herself in one of the rooms. He fumed, slightly. It was a reaction expected of her, especially when he had long hair now, but regardless of such, it did not matter. She was going to shut herself in the room for a while and he couldn’t do much until she came out of it.
“Kyuu! Come out of your room!” the dark brown-haired man yelled as he knocked on the door to her room. He had been kicked out earlier so that she could have a little privacy for her last few hours in her room. Unfortunately, what he didn’t expect was that she would lock herself inside so that no one could get her out of the room. He continued to knock, but all he heard was a resounding “NO!” coming from the other side. He looked over to Mr. Schwarz and shrugged. He went over to Mr. Schwarz and told him that he would take care of her until she was ready to leave. Ryuu had driven here, so he could take her to their new place. It was two hours away, but to Ryuu it wasn’t that bad. Besides, spending time with someone dear to you was preferable than leaving them like this. After Mr. Schwarz thanked him and went to go with the movers to bring the things they owned to their new house, Ryuu went back to the door and slid his back against it. He brought in his right leg so that he could hug it, giving him some support so that he wouldn’t have to keep his balance as much.
“Kyuu, do you remember that time when we went to get that panther plushie?” he asked her through the door. “I remember it… it was about a year ago,” he stated, “when you were already attached to Kuromimi, you wanted another one. It was black, exactly like Kuromimi. We were at the mall because you skipped out on our study session and I had to go find you…” he said to her. He smiled while he was trying to recall all that happened that day. “You remember the game, right? The basketball game?” he asked? He chuckled, “a-and you know? You were so furious that you couldn’t win it, and I did it after one round,” he said, to her, “but I know you put in all that effort, and even though I was mad at you, I gave it to you…” he said as he choked up at the end. “Kyuu… I gave it to you, so that I would always be nearby, even if I’m only 5 minutes away or 5 hours away. Kyuu, I promise I’ll visit you, and we still have our online games, so please, please come out?” he begged her.

The samurai ran into the farthest end of the guild house, to the room which would least likely be checked by anyone. It was a fairly large place, larger than her own room back in Germany at least, and the girl would probably have a roommate to maximize its usage. Or she could have it to herself if no one wanted it. Either way, all the samurai needed was one corner of the room, upon which she would build her home, her majestic dwelling: the Cave of Caerbannog! She envisioned it already: a round soft mat as its base, a ring of large plushies as the sturdy foot of the cave, and piles upon piles of other plushies from the marketplace and from tailoring adventurers. If the assassin did not mind, he probably would but she could convince him to do it anyway, the girl figured that she could ‘ask’ him to make most of those plushies. But that idea brought her back to a sadder time, something that she wished had never happened.
Kyuu had been stubborn back then. Well, nothing new but she had a really good reason that time. The house where she grew up, she did not want to leave it. Even if her father said that he would do everything that he could to get it back, even though he said that the move was just temporary. Some part of her could not believe him, because Mr.Schwarz so easily signed off the divorce papers. The girl did not want to stay a ‘family’ with the horrible woman, no; she just wanted that lady out of their lives, and not have her take the things that her father so diligently worked for. It was not just the emotional attachment to the house, not just the memories, but the stupidity of it all that made her stubborn. Or at least, that was what she told herself.
“ Hmph... I do, so? “ was her annoyed reply when Ryuu asked her about the black panther plushie.
Her friend was not the type of person who would talk about nonsensical things. And he was not that sentimental around her either, aside from the recent outburst about her mother. So why did he have to start then and there? Kyuu did not want to think about the sadness and separation. Her cousins, although they had their own thing and often teased her, lived close by. The college which she wanted to graduate from was a short commute away. She was not even sure if her father would really be able to win the fight for the house, or if she would pass the scholarships which would allow her to continue her schooling. Yet that time, the girl did not know that she was going to miss someone who was as important as her family- it was only something that she would realize once they meet again in the world of Elder Tale.
“ Stupid! STUPID! “ Kyuu screamed back then as she flung the door open and started hitting Ryuu’s back with Kuromimi as soon as she saw him.
Then the girl cried for a long time, mumbling so many things, none of which could be clearly understood. Eventually she calmed down though and accepted the things to come.

Without any warning save for the fast trampling of footsteps behind him, the door swung open and the assault of the kuromimi began. “Ow, ow,” he yelled trying to make her stop. She kept calling him stupid and he kept taking the pain and did nothing to stop it. He allowed her to take out all her pain and her problems on him. He didn’t mind, for it was the least he could do for a friend he wouldn’t be seeing for a while. After she had finally calmed down, Ryuu stood from his seat and presented his hand to her. “Come on, it’s time to take you home,” he said to her. Kyuu took his hand and he led her to his car. As he clicked the keys of his graduation present, a Lotus Evora As the car chirped notifying him that it was opened, Ryuu opened the door for Kyuu and helped her into the low car. Sometimes it was difficult to get in and out of this car because of its low ride height. The £80,000 car was a fun drive, but today he’d take it easy. He started driving a lot slower than when he first got into college for obvious reasons. As he placed the key into the ignition and pressed down the clutch, the car roared to life after turning the key. Flipping the switch of the lights, the white lights brightened the car park ahead of him. The car illuminated several Mercedes and BMWs. Ryuu’s English car was amongst many Germans and told others of his age and his status. Ryuu came from a very wealthy family, which allowed him the pleasures of life, like any car that he wanted (within a hundred grand). As he shifted the gear into first and depressed the clutch while pressing on the gas, the car began to move slowly. He looked over at Kyuu who was still somewhat mad. “Put on your seatbelt,” he reminded her. After he did so, he’d voice activate the GPS and then they’d be off. They’d have about an hour and a half together in the car, but he always wondered what was in store for him. Would the ride fell like an eternity or would it go by quick? As Ryuu made it onto the M1 and proceeded towards Kyuu’s new home, the ride was quiet for the first 30 minutes, not sure of what to say, but finally, Ryuu decided to speak. “Kyuu… you know I’m going to miss you right?” he asked her. He thought it was obvious, but he figured he’d make it known before he’d not see her for a good while. He wouldn’t have known that this would be the last time that he would see her in this situation. He didn’t think that he’d no longer have a little sister again. He resisted the urge to cry, but he did want to make Kyuu’s sendoff spectacular. “Kyuu… Totemo taisetsu ni omo~tsu teru.,” he said finally. It meant “you’re important to me.” He let it out, and he wanted her to know what he felt. The strong bond between them, he hoped it wasn’t short lived or easily broken. He was going to miss her. Back then, Kyuu took her friend’s hand reluctantly. She still did not want to leave but time did not allow it. Although the girl was quite the brat, she still had some sense to her. She thought about bailing once Ryuu let go of her hand but she decided against it at the last second. Despite her height, Kyuu bumped her head against the car as she ducked into it. But even then she merely rubbed her forehead and hugged the black rabbit plushie tightly as she sat down. She put on her seatbelt just so that Ryuu would not get in trouble, traffic rules and all. Her father had already gone ahead and left her in the care of the young man who was known amongst her relatives to be rather overprotective of the blue-eyed girl.
He friend soon started up the car and they were on their way to what would be Kyuu’s home until who knows when. The ride seemed to go on for an eternity especially because of the awkward silence that reigned within the car. And then Ryuu just had to ask -that-. Stupid foolish crappy idiot jerk Ryuu just had to ask her if she knew that he’d miss her. The blue-eyed girl fought hard to hold back her tears but she sniffled every now and then. The silence, then those words, and then silence again... it was too much at that point. But that same idiot who almost made her cry again also said something that made her snicker so suddenly.
“ Ee? “ Kyuu looked up at Ryuu as she hugged Kuromimi tightly, “ Jijippoi neeeee~ “
That’s right. She just called him an old man. Or rather, Kyuu pointed out that Ryuunosuke sounded like an old man, and she did not sound polite or apologetic about it. Instead, she sounded just like the cheerful brat who spoke sparingly but honestly. She giggled as she thought back on what Ryuu just said. A nice sentiment but as always, he sounded too formal. Perhaps there was no other way to put it though, not in that language anyway. A different statement might have a meaning which could be misinterpreted, so she understood his choice of words. Kyuu looked out the window at the scenery which they passed by quickly.
“ I’ll miss you too, “ she breathed against her reflection on the car window.
