Oxford had just finished his sign, setting it up next to him as he waited in the London town square.Windsor Rumpus Needing a buddy for EXP grinding It had only been a couple of minutes since he first set up the sign, but Oxford couldn't help but get excited when it looked like someone came his way. They would glance at the sign, then at him, and then move on.A half-hour had passed as he stood there, his legs getting tired from standing in the same spot. He sat down on the ground next to his hand-crafted sign and took out his notebook, doodling in it as he passed the time, hoping if someone interested in the expedition would come up and introduce themselves.It also left Oxford a little nervous, as he had a hard time talking to people he wasn't familiarly acquainted with, which was no one (save for the one, lone name in his Friends list). He figured that a simple walk through the Windsor woods would be a good way to get acquainted with people as they fought various low-level monsters.However, the real purpose of the trip was to get a look at the Windsor Castle. He heard stories from some of the higher level players that some good loot could be found inside of it, but you need to be leveled properly or they'll eat you alive.He would look up time to time to see if anybody noticed his little makeshift venue, but the square wasn't as busy as it usually is. Seeing as there wasn't a lot of people around, Oxford leaned on his side and closed his eyes, listening to the sounds around him as he waited.Words: 288 OOC Notes: He's not sleeping. Jojo only smiled kindly, her eyes looking around with a casual glance as she moved out of the building with a normal thought process while happening upon and dealing with a casual enjoyment of the chance. Her body clothed in its normal outfit of white clothing, having how it was nothing too, out there with which she eased a sense of knowing what was around her. In all of this, she added good measure to the way the white outfit similar to a straight jacket hugged her body while she kept a common thought in mind over all of this in which she found her broken staff, remembering all the things she did to actually break it. That was probably among the funniest things and the craziest as well, quite the hilarious fashions to which she kept thinking of the multiple areas that her skill was utilized. However, with her forged weapon still cooling from the many tampering she put it through, she had much to still do. Therein she continued to walk out of the inn, her eyes searching about in a calm consistent manner.
Jojo looked around and it was then she noticed something quite odd, a sign asking for adventurers to be going on some expedition. The expedition itself was odd enough and her eyes merely looked over at the guy who had the sign, resting there by the look of it as she walked over, looking at him with curious eyes, as she was definitely interested in this expedition. Even if it was for him to gain some experience, her own could not hurt and wherever he was going, no doubt her own skill as a level thirty-one cleric could come in handy to bring both of them out of a pickle likely be encountered. Her eyes watching him curiously while she merely smiled and said to him in due process, “Hey there, my name is Jojo and I’ll happily go with you.” She smiled, yet she knew that if she went, the monsters to appear could only be stronger given how the agro would be all on her, and that was something of a risk she would have to take for holding herself and any allies in a safety net. Good thing she considered herself a battle cleric.

Oxford's eyes snapped open when he heard a voice talking to him. There was no mistaking the tone of the voice as he looked up at the green-haired maiden: the Adventurer talking to him was a girl.
(Why do girls keep talking to me? Are they all out to get me?)
As he got up, he got a closer look at the Cleric (Jojo was her name, I think). The white robes of her class wrapped around her, nicely accentuating her feminine curves.
(Stop staring. She's going to think you're a lech if you keep doing that.)
Oxford cleared his throat, trying to calm himself before he turned into a stumbling, mumbling mess.
"Nice to meet you, Jojo. Glad to have a Cleric along for the journey."
(Wait a second. Why's this Cleric coming along? Aren't they part of the Healer class? Ah, well, it doesn't matter. She's higher level than me.)
He folded up his sign, tucking it back into his Inventory, taking in one final scan of the courtyard to see if anyone else was interested in joining. Not a soul was around, save for a Lander or two.
"Well then, I guess we should go ahead and get started. Are you ready?"
He began to walk off towards the direction of the Windsor woods, seeing the robes of the Cleric flutter out of the corner of his eye as she followed. He thought he also some giggling from other female Adventurers as they left, and saw a couple of male Adventurers staring after them. Oxford thought he heard one of them say "Lucky..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~ The two Adventurers arrived in Windsor woods, not having to walk around much before a Level 7 Pittered Boar and two Level 6 Young Boars jumped out at them.
The Guardian, not wanting the green-haired maiden to be endangered by them (even though she was already adequately leveled) activated <Anchor Howl>, pulling aggro on all three mobs for the time being. Jojo had to start thinking about what her custom avatar was like now once she caught him staring, “Do all the guys think about nothing more than getting some piece of tail?” Her thoughts of course were to herself and luckily, no friend on her list was in range to hear these things so thereby she was safe for now. Her eyes watching him as she activated the party column and sent the party invite to him, at least to aid in them both keep track of one another when going out into the journey that was ahead. Her eyes would instantly look at the name, the class, and the level if the party invite was accepted. Upon that, she immediately starts to formulate the plan of action that could be of some sufficiency given how he was a level eight guardian. Still, a level eight guardian would probably have more health than she ever could achieve by level forty. The trade off for having high mp was the lacking of hp growth. However, this trade off was quite worth it when the push came to shove for their expedition.
Jojo found herself following the man as her eyes wandered, yet her ears keenly heard all the talk. It was definitely nothing she enjoyed and that was a matter of fact when it came to other’s opinions on who she hung around with. Granted, being in proximity with anyone of the ritual born would naturally give that impression, even more so if they were of the charisma subclass. For now though, she scratched her head, looking ahead and steadily following after until they had come upon their first confrontation. Luckily by now, if they were a party, she would not be targeted by the guardian’s skill and therefore her own attack on the three beasties would come around easily enough. Her hand came up high, almost gathering light energy as a single light spear formed before her hand came down and pointing her finger at the level seven boar, the spear went straight towards it, the spear finding home and defeating the boar easily enough with a splatter of light.
Jojo’s hand then pointed at the guardian as she used heal for his current wounds while she called out, “I took care of the big one. While I am healing you, use that long sword and take care of the last two.” Her martyr spear skill had a terrible cool down sadly while her heal on him was easy to do with allowing the green light to funnel out of her hands and directly at him, allowing it to blanket him. During this time one of the level sixes had actually tried to rush Jojo and attack her but the anchor howl was still in effect and the boar’s HP dropped by half in penalty as she smiled, “They aren’t too bright either.” Her laughter came to, giggling in a manner of speaking and contemplated analysis. Her eyes still watching and waiting with which she knew there would be more out there than what meets the eye. The three boars were not the only things to roam this woodland after all, and that only meant that they were in for a real ride by the end of it.
Jojo had caught Oxford completely off-guard with her one-hit KO against the boar. It stunned him so much that he lowered his shield in surprise, one of the Young Boars knocking into his leg before racing towards the Cleric.
Anchor Howl hadn't worn off yet, so Oxford felt a surge in his SPD stat as he raced at the Young Boar, delivering the 50% damage penalty to the beast. A green glow washed over him, the Cleric healing him of his minor wounds.
(Ah, green. What a lovely color.)
Having thought enough about his color preferences, Oxford slashed at the other boar, bringing its health down to around 50% HP as well. Still keeping the momentum of his swing, he swung around, calling up his <Aura Saber> skill to blast them to oblivion. The remnants of data floated to the sky, littering the ground with triflings of gold. Oxford scooped the coins up, and gave half to the Cleric.
"There you go. Your share from that little skirmish."
He flashed a smile, hoping to convey his thanks in the grin he gave her. He tucked away his small amount of HP, stretching a bit as he waited around for his MP to rise back to a favorable amount.
Birds chirped in the trees as they walked through the forest. A breeze wafted through the leaves, creating a gentle, rustling sound as they walked through the wilderness. Neither one said anything, merely enjoying the peaceful moment.
(If someone saw us, would they think of this as a date?)
He glanced at Jojo, quickly turning back when she looked back at him. Oxford thanked the heavens that he was walking slightly in front of her, so she couldn't see his red face.
He banished the thought from his head as fast as it came.
(No way. Just stop thinking about that mushy stuff and keep walking. The poor girl's probably regretting this journey already.)
As they walked, Oxford thought he saw the shape of a structure somewhere deeper in the woods, but he guided the two of them away from it.
(There might be a bunch of higher level monsters around there. I don't think we could hold them off if they decided to swarm...)
The two walked around some more before Oxford broke the silence.
"Have you heard anything about the castle in this place? I heard rumors that it houses some pretty powerful monsters in there?"
As if on cue, a couple of Briar Weasels jumped down from the trees, like little thorny assassins. Oxford slashed at one as it landed, it's HP decreasing slightly.
The weasels info said they were level 10, and they weren't very happy. The one Oxford slashed at hissed at him, pacing back and forth as it waited for an opening.Words: 466 OOC Notes: Whee, 2 Level 10 Briar Weasels. Tags: @jojo |
Jojo watched the guardian perform his part well, having not at all been surprised with the ease, he finished them off with. Her physical attack prowess was typically weaker than most, the fact she could utilize a sword when in need was astounding in most cases where as her magical prowess was far superior than most. Thankfully, that was shown when one just killing that boar with a single spear from earlier, thankfully now it was done with its cool down time enough for her to keep on going. She accepted the money given to her though, knowing that it was really not much in accordance to the usual amount she was used to when hunting but it was still something and still worth the upkeep as she watched the area and listened to the air after pocketing the coin safely inside a pocket of her pants. That was easy enough and luckily, storage space for anything was universally infinite which made way for quite a delicate manner.
Jojo paused though upon hearing something along the ground, her eyes scanning until she looked away from the sounds and then to the man, oxford, who was asking her a question. Her eyes watching him with a bit of a surprise to herself as she was just curious how much this would become in terms of gateways and the like with being possible disturbing grounds for discovery. “I’ve heard a couple rumors about the manor. It does indeed hold high level creatures, and if you are over a certain level you are limited by a physical debuff. Granted if you are below that level you are shit out of luck, not much known aside from heaving back of light weaponry and fire may be the best bet given the location and proximity the manor has with the rest of this land. Having a dark aura like that in this world just goes to show the creator originality when it came to dungeons.” Her critical voice was like healing potions with lace of poison at the same time.
Jojo shrugged though, and that is when she heard the sound again, the sound of them being followed by something and immediately her mana started to channel, her eyes peering around while she knew she had no weapon to use in this situation given the broken one she had smashed to pieces. However, her magic was still useful and so was strategy. “The weasels have a relatively low attack power, however they can swarm in hurry and when they do they tend to stack the attack power astronomically. Do try to be careful.” This was when she finally started to look around for more evidence, looking and spotting two more of the devilish weasels appearing, both level ten and more than likely with the same agenda making for four of the level ten weasels present and accounted for. She started to channel more mana, focusing on dodging the attacks while also healing her partner before they were swarmed in an upcoming way, at least the healing itself was enough to aid her friend form the damage he would likely incur.
The two Briar Weasels that jumped out from behind them had them surrounded, causing a problem for the two Adventurers.
(...Damn, I wasn't expecting an ambush like this. We'd better clear these out before more decide to jump in.)
Oxford was torn between whether he should try to aggro them all, or trust in the Cleric's battle abilities to hold off the other two until he took care of his.
(If anything, she'll be saving my rear instead of the other way around.)
He decided to put trust in the green-haired Cleric's attack abilities, remembering how she slaughtered the Boar in one hit from their previous battle.
Being bathed once again in Jojo's green glow of healing, Oxford opened up his offensive with another <Aura Saber>, the wide swing landing hits on both of the Briar Weasels.
However, one of the Briar Weasels rushed at him, managing to land a hit with its brambly tail, inflicting minor damage on the Guardian. The HP lost was immediately replenished due to the Cleric's spells. He grabbed the Weasel with his free hand and threw it into the bushes.
The second Weasel rushed at Oxford as well, but he was prepared for it this time. He held up his shield as he initiated <Counter Break>, knocking the Weasel back. He wasn't a higher level than the Weasel, causing Oxford to suffer from a momentary recoil as a result.
Both Weasels were back on their feet, continuing to rush at Oxford. He used the basic strikes of the sword to attack, not wanting to use too much of his MP before he could help the Cleric fight hers off.
(That is, if she hasn't finished them off already...)
After a few more strikes, the two Briar Weasels were sent back to whatever depths they were spawned from. Ignoring the gold as it rained from the slightly higher level monsters, he turned and rushed to Jojo's side.
Jojo’s eyes were on the other two weasels that easily surrounded them. It was not to the greatest advantage yet thankfully her healing on Oxford did grant some clemency to the timing as her eyes glanced back to him repetitively, making certain his healing process was justified and not too strenuous. It was the one thing she did not want happening, even if the monsters were easy for now, she just recalled about a system where she could aid him much easier, and thoroughly dropping her level to do so. Granted being of lower level than now would be a bit of a damper, however that should at least help the bigger beasts from coming at them all at once while she could aid in having him level up faster this way as well. However, for now she utilized her skills in the way of the cleric to defeat the two beasties on her end. The magic skill of utilizing a spear of light once more was relatively overkill in most regards and retrospect’s while she only smiled and giggled all at the same time. This was just a part of those moments when Jojo thoroughly enjoyed her participation at a fight.
Granted a fight she knew that she herself would probably want no part in yet a fight she was a part of nonetheless. Her hand lifting once the cool down time passed and she formed another spear of light. Meant to be a throwing long range weapon, she first stabbed one of the pesky critters through with a skewering effect before bringing the spear back up and throwing it to the second weasel on her end. Both skewered and bursting as the world was with all about doing that. Jojo smiled before turning around when asked if she needed any help. Dropping her level down enough to where she could only utilize three spells total, being a level nine for the tutor system she happily began her setup as she only smiled and began her situation to the perfection of the effort. The three skills she used in effort were a thorough forlorn situational perk of choosing Heal, Reactive Heal, and Martyr spear as her choices in skills so she could be of most help and efficiency of the efforts she would go through. Just the style and skill she held in and of itself to the end. That was the best way to aid her partner is skilling up.
Oxford had felt silly when he realized that the Cleric had already destroyed her foes, his question fading in the air. The two Adventurers immediately began to survey the surrounding area, making sure there weren't any other beasties ready to ambush them.
Once they confirmed that no other enemies decided to swarm, Oxford began to lead the two of them away from the ruins, not wanting to draw in more swarms of enemies.
He lead the cleric to a clearing further away from the castle. The castle still remained in view, but they were far enough to not draw any of the monsters towards them.
(I think this is one of those 'Safe Zones', kind of like a save spot from a single-player RPG...)
"Well, I don't know about you, but I'd like to rest a little bit before moving on."
He propped his sword and shield against a tree, un-equipping his armor to let him cool off a little easier. He didn't sense an immediate threat in the area, so he figured he'd be alright.
He slumped against the tree, letting out a small *oomph* as his rear hit the ground, proving that gravity was still working. He closed his eyes as he felt a breeze blow through, leaning his head back to take in the full effect.
He enjoyed it for awhile, but then remembered that he wasn't alone. He looked at the Cleric and smiled, patting the spot next to him.
"Or, if you don't want to sit next to me, I can move. No biggy."
A couple moments passed, neither of them saying much, a strange feeling lingering in the air. The kind you get when you enter class late and get the feeling that you don't belong.
Oxford decided to make an effort of trying to get to know his travel companion, seeing if he could find some common ground between the two to help relieve the awkward feelings he was carrying with him.
"So, uh, Jojo...is there anything interesting I should know about you? Real name? Age? Why you decided to go with an excellent color for your hair?"
(Three sizes?)
As he listened to her reply, two Nepent Snatchers ended up crashing through the brush, making weird noises that only animated plants could make.
