Status: The Way of the Squirrel
It had been awhile since Oxford had made an expedition to the Windsor Woods. The talk of Londenium to be heard had allowed Oxford to hear of the mysterious castle that sits in the woods. Not many people had gotten inside, and those who approached the gates or tried to enter it by other methods were beseiged by higher level monsters. The tales had intrigued him, so he set off towards the Greatwoods, notebook in hand as he approached the spot that he marked before on his map. (I was with another person last time, so hopefully I won't draw much attention.) The structure looked to be more like a mansion than a castle, but it may as well have been a castle since the walls looked impossible to breach or scale. The gates were solidly built, two imposing doors denying the entrance. It may as well have been a wizard garbed in gray saying "You cannot pass!" Oxford didn't even realize that no monsters had approached him in the time that he took to take notes on the structure. The walls were tall enough to discourage Adventurers from climbing them, but trees grew aplenty, offering a way to get over the walls if the Adventurer was limber enough. (I should check the front gate, it might be unlocked.) The doors moved about as much as a dying snail coated in molasses. Oxford shoved as hard as he could, but the doors refused to budge. He even tried pulling on them, just in case he made the classic mistake of trying to open a door the wrong way (Admit it, you've done it at least once). He stretched as he realized the doors wouldn't open, unless they were doors that had a trick to opening them. "OPEN SESAME." Nope, not even a tremor. Oxford turned to the trees, sighing as he realized he would have to climb them if he wanted to see what was on the other side of the wall. (I hope the Guardian class has enough dexterity to let me climb this thing.) He unequipped his armor, giving him the mobility he needed as he scanned the leafy bounties lying before him. Finding a nice sturdy tree with plenty of supple branches, Oxford gripped the lowest one and began to hoist himself up. It was only when he was at the branch he needed that he looked down, realizing how high, oh so very high, he was from the ground. The wall, which looked like it could easily jumped to, now looked like he had to leap across a great chasm, falling to a grassy abyss if he missed his mark. "I should really start planning ahead before I do things like this..." Words: 456 OOC Notes: -- Tags: @0x1dea |
