Status: This is the Guild I'm Looking For
Oxford was feeling down in the dumps this particular day. Hunting had gotten boring, crafting seemed to have lost its appeal, and all 3 of his friends on his Friends List were off doing other things.Gehhh, I don't have anything to do today, and everyone else is too busy doing who knows what...He found himself a bench to sit on and watched the people mill around. Many of them were accompanied by one or two friends, sometimes groups of five or six making their way to one of the city's exits. They all seemed to be happy, most of them smiling or laughing, ready to face whatever it was that awaited them beyond the gates.Maybe it's about time for me to join a guild. The thought startled Ox, since he normally avoided guild recruitment situations like the plague. After a bad encounter with a so-called 'guild' back in the American server (when this was just a game played after school/work), he had swore he'd never join another one again, opting instead to keep in contact with friends whenever they wanted to do a quest party together.Time spent in this world had changed Oxford, allowing him to think more about things since he didn't have the worries of school or work projects due hanging over his head. Looking back on it all, he'd jumped in too soon, not taking the time to properly research a guild and its reputation. But then, hey, whaddya know. Kumori, the long-haired assassin that he knew that also ran a guild was walking down the street. Seeing this as a sign to join the guild (even though he had done little to no research about the guild in question), Oxford jumped from the bench and greeted Kumori."Hey, Kumori!"The Guardian gave a wave as he approached him."I've got a strange request for you: would it be alright if I joined your guild?"Yes, he was being rude and presumptuous, but boredom was a funny thing. It made a man do crazy things to escape it's monotonous grasp. Words: 347OOC Notes: -- Tags: Kumori |

He was planning to make a few fun things for his guild house, like patches and flags. While he wasn’t expecting to be called out because of the general locale of where he was, and most people didn’t know that he was a guild leader, he mused along the market for a good while, avoiding too much attention. The few that did either loved him, hated him, or simply just didn’t want anything to do with a guild. When someone called out his in game name and made him turn towards the person who called out, he turned and looked up only to see that it was none other than @0x1dea. He waved to say hello, and the guardian approached him. He was taken aback a bit, as he didn’t quite expect him to greet him personally, but he did and asked him an even more interesting question. “My guild?” he asked, holding all of his materials in his two arms. His arms were quite full, as he had just finished getting all that he needed. “Um… I would say ‘sure’ but I need to ask you… why are you interested in a guild all of a sudden?” he asked, trying to ascertain what he was looking for. Was he looking for power? Was he looking for friends? Was he simply looking for somewhere to step on as a stepping stone towards new goals? He wasn’t sure what his plan was, but he did what to give him the chance to explain himself.
After he answered that, he would then ask him: “What is your stance on death in this world. Even though we are ‘immortal’ (put in hand quotes) how do you view death? Should it be avoided if possible, or should it be treated like nothing?” he asked him. This was one of the harder questions to answer, as it often times told the character of the person he asked as well as told him if that person was worthy of joining his guild. While he wasn’t giving a whole shpeal of an interview since he had previously been with him in various quests and various other times, he didn’t know, completely, how he acted, what he prioritized, and what his goals were. Should he answer all these questions the way that Kumori would like them to be answered, he would have no problem in accepting this man in the ranks of Aeryn; however, if he did not fit the bill, he Ryuu would have to consider if the reason for his disallowance was fixable.
“Here, walk with me to my office,” he said as they walked and Oxford had given his answers to him. He could not give a more formal interview in a loud setting like the market place.

Oxford must have caught Kumori as he was doing a grocery trip, noticing all the materials he was carrying in his arms. He would've offered to share the load, but he didn't know if he would take offense to that or not. You'd be surprised at how prideful some people could be. But then again, the Assassin was level 54, so hefting around bags and bundles of materials was probably an easy feat for him to accomplish.
As expected, Kumori had asked him a question that caused him to think. His decision was impulsive one, so he didn't really stop to think about what it was about the guild that had him interested.
"Well, I've seen you and your fellow guild mates around here sometimes. Seems like you guys are always up to something interesting, and I think I already know a couple of your members as well. It'd be nice to hang around friends instead of squatting alone in ruined buildings."
Sure, he had his pet weasel to keep him company, but you can't discuss a lot of things with an animal who insists on crawling around on your head whenever you try to talk to it. The sound of market shoppers were the only that could be heard, the Assassin looking like he was assessing his reply to see if it was genuine or not.
Then he shot another question in the Guardian's direction, a rather macabre one talking about death in this world.
"Even though we come back to life, death should usually be avoided at all costs. If someone around me were to die, I'd feel horrible, since it says to me that I didn't do my job properly."
No one had died on him yet, so he must've been doing something right.
As the two performed the Q&A, more and more people surged into the marketplace, the indistinct chattering making it increasingly hard to hear. Kumori led him to the guild hall, the walls of the building shutting out the noisy jibberjabber from the adventurers outside.
If I known this was going to turn into an interview, I would've worn a suit and tie... Words: 359OOC Notes: -- Tags: Kumori |

He seemed like a good fit for the guild, and it was true he did know a good number of his members, and there was no reason to deny him entrance. Ryuu smiled and offered his hand to him. “Well… I guess there isn’t really need for introductions. You know what we’re about. We want to help the People of the Land as well as influence other adventurers as well. Death does not occur in my guild, if we can help it, however I cannot expect perfection. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. Our goal is to teach younger players as well as utilize the talents of stronger ones. My motto is that we enter as strangers, but leave as family. If you wish to join my family, take my hand, and affirm that you believe in what I do,” he said. Ryuu eyed the guardian well, whilst smiling. His eyes showed a compassion not many players see often. When he talked about his guild, he said it only with pride. This was his guild, this was his family, and he was proud of them.
Should Oxford take his hand, Ryuu would immediately go into his menus to officially invite the man into his guild. He was no stranger in allowing people to enter into his guild, and there was plenty of space for him to bring his stuff and live in. Ryuu brought him through the Guild House, showing him the facilities. They had their own in-house crafting area that contained all the tools necessary for crafting as well as rooms, showers, restrooms, full kitchen, and several other rooms for hanging out. Ryuu even got a game room set up so they could play some pool, but that was a thing for another time. Ryuu eventually showed him his room, showing where he’d be living. He figured that since there was still plenty of space, people could still have their own room for now, and if they got bigger, they may have to bunk with other people. Until then, Ryuu opened the door and nodded at Oxford. “If you have any questions about the guild or the other members, let me know… I’ll try to get you acquainted with everyone as soon as possible,” he said. He turned to leave, but then stopped. “Ah, right.. I should put you on my friend list,” he said. Ryuu quickly went through the buttons to do so, putting Oxford’s name into the list and then waiting for the acceptance. “I look forward to working with you. The chores list will have your name added into it into next week’s rotation.” Ryuu turned and finally left.

Notes: I guess we can go ahead and end it here. | | Oxford nodded along as he listened to the Assassin's response to his answers. They were filled with passion as he talked about his guild, the long-haired young man obviously taking great pride in his guild. A good sign of leadership. It proved to the Guardian that he was capable of guiding others in combat, as it sounded like he took every precaution available to make sure everyone got home alive and well.
A very admirable quality for a guild leader to have.
Taking the responsibility of others' lives when in the midst of battle is no laughing matter, and death should be avoided at all costs. If you couldn't protect your friends in casual fights, how could expect to protect them in dungeon raids? As he listened more and more to how much Kumori talked about his guild like his family, the more and more confident he felt that he made the right decision in joining this guild.
That is, if he managed to pass the interview.
At that moment, the Assassin held his hand out to him, smiling at Oxford as he waited for his decision. Without even a second-thought, he took the assassin's hand and gave it a good, firm shake.
"It's nice to have a family again."
He gave a friendly grin as he accepted the guild invite when it popped up on his HUD. Nailing the 'job', the long-haired young man began to show Oxford around the place. It had all the standard living requirements for a house in Elder Tales: individual bedrooms, a full kitchen (he'd try his best not to eat all the snacks), in-house crafting areas (All I need is a nice desk and a comfy chair), and even a game room! He was a little sad to see that there weren't any video games in the game room (despite the fact that every adventurer here was living inside an actual one).
Maybe I could get skilled alchemist to make a 'Magic Interactive Picture Box' or something to help satisfy my RPG needs.
The tour ended once Kumori led Oxford to his room, opening the door for him to get acquainted with his new living quarters.
Ahhh...no more squatting in abandoned buildings...
He listened to the Assassin as he told Oxford to ask him about any questions that he might have about the guild. He also mentioned something introducing him to the other guild members later.
Eh, that shouldn't be too bad. I already know quite a few of them...
He flopped down on his brand new bed, almost immediately falling into a nap if the Friend Invite didn't bring him back to reality. He accepted the invite, bringing Oxford's Total Friends count up to 4. As he lay his head against the pillow, he heard Kumori mention something about chores.
Makes sense. Can't have a bunch of freeloaders hanging around here.
He let out a sigh of contentment after the Assassin left him alone in his room, closing his eyes to catch a quick nap. Oxford mumbled something to himself as he began to drift off.
