She looked around frantically to make sure that the dream was just that, a dream, and to her relief, the forest sprite was sleeping soundly close to her with Hrairoo in her arms. The frenmic rabbit, in turn, had finally gotten it through his thick skull that the Alraune was friend, not food. The samurai then looked down at Kuromi which was her pillow most of the time; sleepiness drew her in momentarily but she shook her head and slipped out of the cave. The wolf-hair cleaned herself up and got ready for a day of adventuring; she then noticed that her main weapon still had to be replaced. Caerbannog pulled out a Subclass Change item from her menu and used it to store away her Chef subclass and replace it with the Blacksmith subclass. She would rather not rely on other people to create things for her, though that was a thought long trampled and swept to the side when she commissioned a certain woodcrafter to fashion her yumi and ooyoroi. A previous trip to Sarum also afforded her a woodcrafter item which she traded away for a blacksmith item. With it, she could create her own weapon and all that was left to do was to improve her new subclass levels. If she was to try out blacksmithing, she figured that Sarum was a good start. Why begin at too small a place like St. Pancras Station? If she was going to train herself, then she might as well go all out. Caerbannog equipped only her yukata and its accompanying shorts and boots. Her windsor nagamaki was in its usual place on her belt but aside from that, the girl had nothing else. The Alraune soon woke up and, with Roo in her arms, the little one approached Kyuu who’d just finished all her preparations. Scoria did not seem to be too concerned of the baby and Kumori gave it permission to enter the samurai’s room, so all went pretty well. Most days the girl and the sprite just played with the numerous plushies in the room, or they’d try hide and seek with Hrairoo, which of course the rabbit usually won. “ I have stuff to do today, baby, “ the samurai said as she gently patted the little one’s head. “ Go with Auntie! “ came the insistence. Just one statement was enough. Caerbannog did not have the heart to turn the toddler away. She led the forest sprite and Hrairoo over to the kitchen and gave them some breakfast. Just lots of fruits for both while the wolf-hair took an apple for herself and walked over to their guild leader’s bedroom. It was locked, as expected, and so she knocked until the door was opened. As she waited, the samurai took two bites out of the most important meal of her day and when Kumori finally opened his bedroom door, she tossed the barely-eaten apple at him. “ Breakfast! Let’s go! “ she simply said. A ride on a merchant’s cart was once again sufficient enough to get them to the Expedition Camp before midday. The roads had slowly been improved as more people became interested in the new frontier. Caerbannog helped the baby sprite down, and the Alraune in turn helped Hrairoo to get off the cart. The wolf-hair led the summon by the hand and made sure to check if she did not seem unwell due to being that far out of Londenium. Roo hopped closely behind the pair; unlike a pairing with Scoria which made it seem as if either the samurai or the Alraune was his child, Caerbannog’s stature made her look like the forest sprite’s older sister sans the green skin. Hand in hand with the cute summon, Caerbannog reached up to take a quest from the board. It was one of many which required blacksmiths but it did not speak of a stall somewhere in the camp. Instead, it required the adventurers to walk along the main road from the camp and towards the desolate lands of Sarum so that they could reach out to other adventurers stuck in the wilds due to beaten up gear. The samurai walked back to Kumori with the rabbit and the sprite still in tow. After having noted the contents of the quest, she then handed it over to the assassin. “ Do this one! “ she said and it did not sound like a request. The forest sprite merely stared at Kumori, still not used to his person. She did not know much about the assassin thus the neutral reaction was not a surprise. Hrairoo, on the other hand, was very familiar with the guild leader and the rabbit did not think twice as it nibbled on the young man’s footgear. Caerbannog picked up the rabbit and put it on her head. She then headed to a lander named Andrea who turned out to be giving away supplies for the ‘traveling menders’ quest, and then they were on their way to the frontlines of the Expedition Camp. | Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0795 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | Ryuu was sound asleep. So what was his dream about this time? Well this time, it was about an elite group of adventurers he was a part of and their demise, save for his lonesome. Ryuu had just finished slaying 2 big field bosses with a party which comprised of Caerbannog, himself, some healer, and some other DPS dealer. They had been able to kill off a boss known as the master of fire and a boss known as the master of the earth. Various dungeons had to be done in order to get to both of those, but the group they opposed had grown tired of their charades, tired of their accomplishments. Well, the once formidable group he was a part of had been found, their secret hideout not really that secret. Their demise was sad, because he was able to see how it all went down through the eyes of a forest sprite (much like Alarune). I mean… grunts were the ones who took out that group of so-called elite people, and he had returned to see many dead, and the important ones captured. Really, it was a face-palming moment. He wanted to flip all the tables that were in his vicinity. Scion of the Seventh Day, sworn to protect the world of Eorzea and they had their asses handed to them in a singular 3 minutes. 3 minutes! My mother could protect herself for longer than that! They didn’t even put up a fight. It was so epically anti-climactic that it looked like someone rushed through the story just because they didn’t want to put any more thought into. Knock knock knock.
To end this nightmare, a knock on his door was heard, and Ryuu sat up from his position. He looked at the map and saw that it was Kyuu who was waking him up. He got out of bed and opened the door. “Wha-“ he would start but all of a sudden, a bitten apple was thrown in his general direction and he was forced to act fast. He caught it with his right hand and he looked at the bitten apple. “Breakfast?” he asked. Where were we going again? he asked himself. Oh right, Sarum. He got dressed and put on his Yukata. He placed his leather armor above it and then equipped his daggers. Finally he took his tailor equipment and exited his room.
He was surprised to see both Hrairoo and Alarune on the merchant cart that was going to take them to Sarum. He was a bit surprised, but it didn’t faze him. The trip was shorter than usual, since the roads were heavier travelled and roads were beginning to be built. Ryuu was a bit happy for Kyuu. Now she had someone to actually care for, instead of relying on Ryuu all the time. She was beginning to grow, little by little. Kyuu then went to the mission board and grabbed one of the requests. She handed it to him and demanded that they did this one. He read it through and then looked at her two companions. “You sure?” he asked, making sure she knew what she was getting herself into. The samurai nodded. Well, it gave a bit of variety to their crafting quests. They would have to go towards the expedition parties and help those who were in trouble. It seemed that Ryuu would have to earn his bread today. He would have to protect the forest sprite, should she come into any trouble. He wasn’t afraid for his own safety, just that of the baby that Kyuu cared so much about, and since she cared so much about her, Ryuu had to do so as well. He was the Uncle after all. It only made sense that he took it just as seriously. “Well, I guess we should get going. There are a few parties nearby, so we will be able to go to their. Since you’re training to become a blacksmith, this should be good training for you. I think we should rent out our own cart, to bring the things you need to repair weapons and armor."
Ryuu looked around the market and went to the places that carried carts. He found one filled with a mobile smithy, which would allow Caerbannog to work out of it as they travelled. For tailors, working on the run was much easier than blacksmiths, but with the Sarum expedition funds, they would be able to afford using these for free, since the both of them were regulars. He waved Kyuu, Alarune, and Hrairoo over so that they could got onto their new mode of transportation. Ryuu took the reins of the horses and began directing it towards the Sarum expedition camp’s frontlines.

Repair only.- Silly oniichan misspelling the summon’s race... it’s Alraune! Apart from that, Ryuu-oniichan was pretty cool and accommodating too. Based on the quest that the samurai picked, he had deduced that she switched to the blacksmith subclass. He’d taken the liberty to commandeer a cart which contained smaller, lighter versions of a smithing stall’s effects. While some smaller armors could possibly be hammered out to a better form without heating, weapons would surely require a sufficient temperature so that they could be drawn back to their original appearances. Kyuu picked up the baby sprite, nuzzled her gently and then she hopped onto the cart beside the mini-forge. Hrairoo followed closely behind, the smart bunny that he was, and jumped onto the cart as well with as much grace as a frenmic creature like him could muster. The pair of crafters soon departed from the Sarum Expedition Camp with the assassin Kumori behind the reins. Caerbannog merely watched as the scenery changed, though not by much, as the cart moved on. The forest sprite looked at the people whom they passed too, none of which needed repair services just yet since they’d just left the camp as well. The cutie did not stare at the adventurers for long because every time that a person seemed discomforted by her attention, the samurai would be quick to point at something else that would distract the toddler. After a short trip towards the frontlines, the crafters came across two clerics who strangely enough had massive maces and shields but wore only robes. A common combination for most MMORPGs, but in Elder Tale, the samurai thought it odd. Then again they were clerics; if they got hurt, they could just heal themselves. Those thoughts aside, Kyuu moved towards the front of the cart and tugged Ryuu’s cloak, and then she pointed at the resting clerics who were looking their weapons and armors over. Once the cart halted, the blacksmith hopped off and helped Hrairoo and the Alraune to get off their transport as well. She inspected the portable forge and noticed that the bottom was thickly insulated so as to prevent burning its mount, probably. It would take a while to do so, but Caerbannog began to fire up the forge. Since they were headed towards the frontlines, materials and equipment were limited thus she was unable to start a fire quickly even with the flint from her stash of cooking utensils. While the blacksmith attended to that, the pair of clerics rose from where they sat, curious as to the appearance of the cart and its occupants. Ryuu should probably talk to them since he’d always been better at communication. The forge’s temperature rose steadily and so Caerbannog let the little baby sprite run around with Hrairoo for the mean time. Perhaps later, the cutie could help out his auntie but at that moment, the samurai had to get her forge fired up first. Every now and then, the frenmic rabbit ran past her feet and nibbled on her ankles. The Alraune giggled at the sight for Roo was just playing anyway, though Kumori would probably not find it too cute if the rabbit started to nibble on his clothing again. Caerbannog stood close to the cart and waited for instructions from Ryuu since she was merely a Level 1 Blacksmith and was unsure of her capability to repair items. She would try her damn hardest though. WC: 570 || Code by Neun of ET. Artwork by Taamo. |

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0379 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | Ryuu had driven the path towards the front lines. He wasn’t paying attention much to his surroundings, tunneling towards the expedition. He heard a slight clamber behind him, and then the samurai girl pulled on his shirt to stop him. Ryuu looked at her, and then she pointed at the two clerics who were looking over their equipment. He looked at Ryuu and nodded as he stopped the cart. The clerics stood in order to wonder what was up, while Kyuu began firing up the forge. It’d take some time for the forge to be hot enough to melt metal or even make it soft enough to be bent into shape. Ryuu stood and walked towards the clerics to make his introduction. “Hello… we’ve been sent to help with those who need some repairs on the go. We took a mobile forge to help fix armors that may need fixing. It seems like you guys could use the help…” he said to them. The male cleric nodded. “Aye.. we’ve been out here for days, and we haven’t been able to go back, unsure which mobs would appear. We could use some repairs, and some food if you have any. There isn’t much out here other than golems, and they aren’t that edible,” he said. Ryuu nodded and went back to the cart and took out the extra supplies. He grabbed a couple of sandwiches and gave it to the male cleric. He thanked him and proceeded to gobble one down after giving the other one to his companion.
Ryuu looked back at Kyuu who was getting her forge ready. He then went back to the clerics and then asked for their armors so they could be fixed. After a little convincing and urging, they finally relinquished their armors. They were still dressed in their vanity clothes. After taking the armors and their weapons from them, Ryuu handed both of the weapons to Kyuu so she could fix them and he began mending the armors that they had on. He sat down at the edge of the wagon so that he’d have somewhere to sit while he carefully mended the damaged armors. “So… why are you clerics alone out here… clerics don’t usually come out here alone,” he asked them.

Repair only.- The pair of adventuring clerics talked amongst themselves before they agreed to relinquish their equipment to the tailor and the blacksmith. The lady, in particular, looked over the assassin; his class did not exactly scream ‘trustworthy’. She then looked over to the blacksmith who seemed harmless enough, but one glance at the samurai’s level made the cleric feel uneasy. Her twenty levels could barehandedly be ripped off by little girl. What she found most peculiar was the presence of an Alraune despite the lack of a druid in their group. The female cleric’s partner however prioritized their need for repairs though he also took into consideration the other’s worries. The male cleric White Mage handed over his armor to Kumori and his weapon and shield to Caerbannog.
“ Once you finish your repairs on those, I’ll equip them and then you can start working on her items, “ he said referring to the female cleric named Tsugumi.
The assassin’s kind gesture of sharing his food with the clerics did not go unnoticed. Tsugumi was relieved when her partner said that the sandwiches were actually edible and tasted good too. They talked amongst themselves until the tailor broke the ice. It wasn’t any of his business, really, but White knew that the assassin just wanted to break an awkward atmosphere. Since Tsugumi was still hesitant to talk though not too apprehensive anymore, White decided to answer the question while keeping critical information to himself.
“ Since you’re here in Elder Tale and at that level too, I’m going to assume that you know quite a bit about MMORPGs... and well, clerics or any other support classes are usually treated like shit. The tank dies, it’s our fault. The DPS die, it’s our fault. The Catastrophe is probably our fault too, “ the male cleric sighed as he sat upon a boulder with a plain shirt and pants, “ That’s how it was in the real world. That’s how it was for us here too. “
Tsugumi had a rather sour look on her face as if she’d just heard a most unpleasant thing. The conversation brought back some horrible memories of her being a Level 1 cleric with just one skill. She was often ditched by her parties because who wants a cleric with just one skill, right? Never mind that everyone else at Level 1 also only had one skill. She made it sure that the assassin would see the disapproval on her face for one of the party leaders which griefed her before was of that same class. She was called many not-so-nice names when the party found out that she broke the meta and picked the offensive cleric skill Martyr Spear instead of a healing ability. Never mind that they never actually asked her if she was a support type player; that they insisted that she join their party despite knowing next to nothing about her.
“ He went solo until Level 25, “ the female cleric suddenly piped up, “ And then for the next five levels, he ran around Sarum to help me. “
As for Caerbannog, she had taken the shield and the cleric weapon when it was handed over to her. She inspected it and ran her hand along the shield to find any bumps or dents that her eye could have missed. The forest sprite soon took interest in Hrairoo who in turn nibbled on every rock around the cart. It was a funny game of tag since the frenmic rabbit would bound away before the Alraune touched his fluffy back. That left the blacksmith with a lot of space on her end, and she began to hammer out the dents on the cleric’s shield. She worked on that item while the forge was still being fired up to a temperature which was appropriate for working on the mace.
The outer ring of the shield soon began to take a smooth, arched shape once more. The front part merely had scratches on the wooden component leaving it still workable. Therefore, Caerbannog just worked on the metal areas of the item so that it would not feel disbalanced when wielded. She used a smaller hammer to even out the inner part of the shield and to make sure that no cuts or protrusions could hurt its wielder. Once that was done and the shield polished to look as if it had just gone through the most minimal wear and tear, Caerbannog walked over to White Mage and handed the shield to him. The man let out a surprised “Oho!” and a nod to the blacksmith who said nothing as she turned back to the cart to work on the mace.
The wolf-hair inspected the cleric’s weapon of choice and noted that the leather wrapping around the handle could use some repair work. With a small blade, she undid the seams and attachments, then Caerbannog tossed it over to the tailor. The leather was not tattered but its double layer was getting loose. A sufficiently tense backstich along with a blanket stitch to protect the edges of the double-layer leather wrapping should suffice. Kumori probably knew that already though since he was a tailor after all. With that part to be worked on by a different crafter, the blacksmith turned to her own repair work and noticed that the forge was ready. She put the mace’s head into it just long enough for the metal to glow red-hot which her hand was protected by simple smithy gloves provided by the kind lander back at the Sarum Expedition Camp.
Once the mace was ready to be worked on, Caerbannog put one of the sections of its head on her anvil and hammered out the dents. She was careful not to stretch out any of the designs so the hammering remained rather light. The mace’s head had four sections and each one was tended to carefully by Caerbannog. She was not sure if the weapon was a Windsor one, a common type of item, but in any case she still had to repair it carefully. Despite her low blacksmith level, her physical strength as a samurai was enough to hammer out the uneven parts. She just had to make each strike a conscious effort so as not to mess things up. With four sections in good working order, she cooled the mace down and handed it over to Kumori for him to fit the leather padding on the handle. Tsugumi soon unequipped her own armor and weaponry, through her interface of course to avoid any unintentional fan service, and would hand it over to the pair of crafters once White Mage equipped his items properly.

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 1048 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | Ryuu was happy that he was able to gain the trust of the Clerics. Many people tended to be underhanded in terms of dealing with lower-leveled players or naïve players. It wasn’t an uncommon thing for people to approach others warily. Ryuu understood the notion, and attempted to break that stereotype. While the Samurai and Assassin were levels above both of them, Ryuu had shown them only kindness, and they received it well. Ryuu even gave them something to hold to, that was his so that they would have a better sense of security. He looked through his inventory to find something of notable value. He was looking for something that had sentimental value and could not be re-crafted easily. There wasn’t much that he found significantly sentimental, but he did have a book that Kyuu had given him a while back. He took it out and gave it to them to hold onto until Ryuu and Kyuu were done with the repairs. “Here, it’s a sentimental item of mine. It’s not much, but you can hold onto it while we craft. Feel free to read it, but unfortunately it’s in German. It’s a copy of Grimms’ Fairy Tales.”
He then began to tell him of their predicament. The predicament it came with healers like them. Ryuu sighed as he knew all too well of the flak that supports and healers got. In every MOBA, it was never about whether the support was good, it was always about how good the carries were doing, and if they were doing poorly, they would blame the support. “Come on!” “Stop initiating like that!” when all the support was doing was providing opportunities. It was similar for healers. Healers were required to heal and be good at it. Often times, it was never the person who died that was at fault, it was the healer’s, because of the stereotype that healers had to heal well. It was a terrible generalization, and one of the reasons why stupid people could not understand that their actions are what got them killed. There are few times that it is the actual fault of the healer, and in reality is the fault of the player. He was rather impressed though, when Tsugumi spoke up and told him of White Mage’s accomplishments. “If you ever need some help, feel free to look me up in Londenium. We venture out here all the time, and I can assure you that my guild treats everyone fairly. If you make a mistake, we’ll help you correct it, but we won’t outright blame you for it…” he said to them. He even extended the digital handshake of friendship by sending him a friend request. He didn’t send him a request for guild joining, since that was not the right time. They had just met, and he would not so easily let someone into his family. “We have a cleric who specializes in battle. She supports, but she can also be pretty deadly. She may be able to teach you two a thing or two, if that is the path you are taking. Seeing how you both are out here alone, I can only gather that that is the most likely path you have chosen,” he surmised. He wouldn’t be too taken aback if he was wrong. It was simply a suggestion to them, and if they rejected his offer, Ryuu wouldn’t mind. Everyone had their own place and their own way of dealing with things. Sometimes, groups were not for people, which Ryuu respected.
He took the armor that the cleric offered him and noticed that the materials used to make the armor were poor. It seemed that level 5 or level 7 materials were used and Ryuu shook his head. He decided that he’d help the cleric out and upgrade it to level 10. Ryuu took the level 10 materials from their storage area in the wagon and began laying the pieces out to use. He began replacing the interior layer, since it was already falling apart. He was surprised that higher level clerics like these ones still carried lower-level armors. Instead of simply patching up the looseness of the armor, he simply removed the old material and replaced them. This was a much better way of fixing the armor, as it made it easier to make it feasible to use. After about 15 minutes of fixing and replacing, he finished the armor and straightened it out by fluffing it. He then handed him back the armor and smiled. “Here you go. I’ve upgraded it to Level 10 materials, so it should be a bit more useful and durable than it was before,” he said to White Mage. White Mage thanked him and Ryuu nodded in turn.
Ryuu then took the mace and looked at the handle after Kyuu had handed it to him. He took it and began shaping the strips of leather that would fit the handle for more grip. He staggered the tying so that it was not smooth, and instead was rough and allowed for maximum grip. The strips were long enough to cover more than two hands so that the grip can change to fit the situation. It covered the majority of the pole part of the mace. After fixing it, Ryuu handed it back to White Mage.
It was the Tsugumi’s turn. She had taken her armor off using the system as to not give any fan service. After taking the armor, he did the same with the armor, upgrading it with better materials so that it would be more useful as she continued to venture in Sarum as well as the rest of the Unfounded Kingdom. Unfortunately, he was maxed out at level 10, or else he’d have given them better equipment. He was hoping to find an item that would allow him to do that. It seemed that the tailor version of the level 20 mats has yet to appear, and so he was still hopeful. He figured that with this journey, maybe he’d get lucky.
After doing the repair and upgrade, he handed the armor back to Tsugumi and told her he upgraded it as well. Ryuu waited for Kyuu to hand him the weapon so he could re-grip it.

That piece of literature and the sandwiches from earlier were meant to be offers of good will. He was not eager to party up with people or to join guilds, but the kind words were much appreciated. On his part though, the cleric would rather not be too involved with adventurers who just some minutes ago were complete strangers.
“ I decline, “ White Mage cancelled the friend request, “ I expect you understand, based on what you’ve already said. “
He did not know how to word it any more concisely than that, and any way that he said it would have sounded rude anyway. The cleric was not about to put up a fake smile either so his face seemed obviously upset at the topic. At that point, Tsugumi’s expression changed as if the two were always polar opposites. On her part though, the female cleric knew that if White Mage had a gloomy expression, it would not do well for her to be just as negative. She tried to seem as pleasant as possible though it ended up looking like a fake smile, something that Caerbannog saw through for she’d seen it many times. Having been a healer in many MMORPGs before, that encounter with the two clerics made her thankful that she did not choose to walk that path. If she’d been in their shoes, the brat would have exploded at someone already- or would have made them explode.
Bloody thoughts aside, Caerbannog accepted the female cleric’s mace and shield when they were handed over. Okay, bloody thoughts are back. Who the hell thought that putting so much decoration and embellishment on a shield was a good idea? Unlike White Mage’s round metal and wood shield, Tsugumi’s equipment was a rectangular metal one with overlapping four-pointed star symbols. And by ‘overlapping’ that meant at least four cross-like shapes on top of each other. Each layer of the shield was even colored: the outer frame was violet with golden corners; the face was maroon with bronze decor; an overlapping cross from corner to corner was silver and the golden stars at the middle formed an eight-pointed symbol.
Caerbannog sighed at that sight knowing that it would be difficult to repair. She could not use her forge for that since the colored metal might end up distorted, but to her relief at least, it seemed that the coloring was due to a reaction in the alloy that was used. So that meant that she could, at least, hammer out the shield without causing much discoloration. Heating it up was still out of the question since at a certain temperature, some alloys tend to change color and the blacksmith did not even know what metal was used for the shield. The wolf-hair merely put up her shield on her anvil and began to hammer out the dents until the sides and surfaces were as flat enough as they could be.
Once the repair work on the starry shield was done, the wolf-hair polished the surface with a metal protector to give it just enough sheen as if it was nearly brand new. She then returned the item to its owner and politely nodded at Tsugumi; when she turned back to the cart to check the young lady’s weapon though, Caerbannog almost cursed out loud. A morning-start type of mace... oho. Oh dear. She wanted to kill a golem with it, she really did. A Level 1 Blacksmith to repair that? The wolf-hair would have rejected it if not for the presence of her oniichan who so diligently worked on the heavy robes of the clerics.
The Alraune, as sweet as ever, probably sensed the blacksmiths’ reluctance to fix the mace and so she gave her Auntie a quick hug. The sprite then ran over to pick up Roo and played with the rabbit to keep it preoccupied while the adventurers worked on repairing the remaining gear. Caerbannog appreciated that and thought that she should properly thank the baby later on, but she had a more pressing matter at hand. Or rather, a spiky matter instead. A seven-pointed morning star about the size of her own head, perhaps even larger, sat there beside her forge. It was made of a gold-like metal though it could not have been made of gold altogether since that element was too soft to use as a weapon. Then again, they were in Elder Tale so anything was possible.
The blue-eyed blacksmith set to work on the morning star which thankfully was not too damaged so it did not have to be reforged. Caerbannog ran it through the hot coals momentarily just so that she can even out its surface, and then she took a very flat-faced hammer to the weapon. The mace had some grooves but the girl skillfully worked in spite of those. At least the decor was not as complicated as the one on the shield, she thought. Soon it was done as well and so she handed the weapon over to the tailor who could check the handle if it needed anything else. It was quite a funny sight to see a small girl with such a massive mace, and Caerbannog herself would have probably laughed if only she glimpsed at her own reflection somehow. With her work down at that moment though, the blacksmith sat down on the cart as she slowly cooled down the forged, just enough so that it would not generate too much heat though she kept the red-hot coals alive.

It wasn’t like this was Ryuu’s first time getting rejected. He nodded and accepted the decline as well as he could without making a fuss. While it was never his intention to invite him to the guild, at least not yet, he couldn’t say that it wouldn’t lead to that eventually. “Even if you do not wish to join my guild, I do hope you still come look for me when you have the time or seek help that others do not provide,” he said to the cleric. The two clerics eventually would nod at his offer regardless. It wasn’t a request of friendship this time, just a means of courtesy. His guild was made to help others to continue forward when others would otherwise turn them away. He made this guild for other people and not for himself, and should anyone attempt to take advantage of other players, Ryuu would not stand for it. While his guild meant “Bringer of Good/Justice,” Ryuu was not lawful in terms of his standing. He would do whatever he needed to in order to maintain peace, and if that meant breaking a few bones or killing a number of people, he did not mind. While he did not like to kill, sometimes the circumstances required it to be so.
All he had to do now was wait for the Blacksmith to finish her work. After several more minutes of her banging on her hammer and anvil, and Ryuu not wanting the conversation to get any more awkward, he couldn’t stress how relieved he was to hear her finish the repairing their items. She handed them to him for the finishing touches, replacing the small straps and grips that they needed and then handed it to the female cleric. He smiled and waved to them. “It was nice meeting you… Take care of yourselves,” he said to them before getting onto the wagon. Ryuu then whipped the reins to get the horses moving. Ryuu spoke aloud to Kyuu. “Tell me if you see people, again, on the side of the road. I don’t want to keep anyone waiting. I’ll be on the lookout for golems that may appear,” he said to her. Ryuu focused on the ahead, allowing Kyuu to focus on the left and right, so that they had a decent view of everything. In the case that one or the other missed something, they would still know how to react and when to react.

Repair only.- Oh boy. Ryuu-oniichan was rejected. Again. How many times does that make it now? Two? Three? Four? Five hundred? Caerbannog waved bye-bye to the clerics and made sure that the Alraune and the frenmic rabbit were safely on board. The forest sprite settled down with Hrairoo on her lap, and only then did realize that for the most part, the baby had either been ignoring Ryuu or went off to do something else to stay away from him, so it seemed. She’d not given him a nickname either and the samurai could only think of one reason for that.
“ Ryuu~! “ the wolf-hair called for his attention as she put her arms around the driver’s neck and placed her chin upon his head so that they’d both be facing the same direction, “ Why was oniichan so upset? ‘coz rejected again? “
He probably did not mean to look that way, but the assassin seemed rather serious and grumpy around the Alraune. In her experience, the forest sprite did not give nicknames to strangers though at times she did walk up to them just to poke what they were doing. If Ryuu wanted to be the sprite’s uncle, he’d need a nickname- it was kind of an acknowledgement from the baby after all. Kyuu herself had two nicknames: Speedy Turtle and Auntie, which meant that the cute sprite probably liked her twice as much.
As they traveled, the wolf-hair occasionally swatted at Ryuu’s nose to distract him though not enough to make him derail the cart or anything. Hopefully it would make him look like less of a scary or grumpy or unapproachable person, and the forest sprite might warm up to him. Kyuu, of course, still kept her eyes on the road but it was desolate so far. Maybe it was time for one of those cheer up sessions, which of course the girl knew nothing about.
“ Sukidayo, “ she muttered as her chin rested on Ryuu’s head, “ I’m still here so cheer up! “
Something moved to the right side of the road and emerged so suddenly from between some boulders. It looked like a mini-golem but once the samurai looked closely, it turned out to be an adventurer in full plate armor; even the head was covered completely. To her surprise, a cute voice yelled from behind her.
“ MAMA TURTLE! WATCH OUT! “ the Alraune clearly referred to Ryuu just then, because Kyuu was already Speedy Turtle and the little one never gave multiple turtle nicknames to adventurers.
As for the armored adventurer, he stumbled onto the road but was able to steer clear of the cart before he fell right down on the ground. His armor was battered in places and it seemed that he had no weapon or shield. Upon closer inspection though, he had many tailored accessories around his wrists and his neck. He seemed to have noticed the cart for the adventurer put up a hand to wave at the samurai and the assassin.

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0554 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | Ryuu~ he heard from behind him. Soon after, he felt familiar arms wrap around his neck and her chin the top of his head. She asked a pretty interesting question. He wasn’t upset, but maybe he did look like he was upset because he was disappointed in the answer that the cleric gave him. Since Ryuu was earnestly trying to help him, Ryuu couldn’t think of any real reason why they shouldn’t check them out. “Not upset, just confused,” he noted to his little sister. It wasn’t often that he looked like this. He really thought he could make some friends over this trip, but if he couldn’t do it with the first encounter, he was sure to meet plenty of people during this trip. With more people that would probably need help, and in different stages of their (game) life, he could still tell them that there was a place to make friends. They didn’t need to necessarily join his guild, but he did like making alliances or relationships with others who were in other guilds, but he never had intentions of stealing others away from other guilds. “I really wanted people to not be afraid of us. We’re two of the three strongest players in the Unfounded Kingdom, I have to say, I really wished people would approach us more easily,” he sighed. Most people would be intimidated in the presence of “Adventurer Royalty”. That’s what they were, really, especially those well below his own level.
Sukidayo he heard from above him. Ryuu smiled. “Aishitemasu!,” he replied to her to reciprocate the feeling of familial love. Familial for all those who need it a bit bigger to see. “Arigatou ne,” he said in response to the comforting words. Ryuu’s author is trying really hard to informalize his Japanese, and so he is doing lots of google searches and asking other people.. so he begs you to not kill him for butchering the language.
As Kyuu was on his head, the both of them were not paying attention to the side. He heard a voice, one that was still unfamiliar. It sounded like a young female child that yelled out: “MAMA TURTLE! WATCH OUT!” Well his initial thought was that Mama Turtle was Kyuu, but when he looked at the direction Alraune’s voice was projecting, he saw the fully-clad guardian(?) running towards them. Ryuu swerved the wagon to the left so that the guardian wouldn’t run into him and sustain even more damage. He fainted on the ground. Ryuu got up after placing the reins down. “Oi, are you okay?” he asked. It was pretty evident that he had sustained some heavy damage. The guardian put up his hand to wave as well as to notify them that he was okay. Ryuu sighed in relief. He looked around to make sure no golems were nearby. Ryuu helped the man up and then nodded. “Your armor looks like it could use a bit of repairing. My sister can help you out, and I can probably pad up your undershirt a bit more or even fix some cloth or leather accessories that you may have,” he said to him. “Have anyone else that may need our services? We can take you there and go over as well. We’re a traveling repair shop,” he told him.

Repair only.- The Alraune was not really concerned about the fallen adventurer, but she was curious about his appearance. He looked like that Tin Man from Wizard of Oz, if anything, and his awkward movements only served to strengthen the stereotype. He fumbled around and soon managed to get up on his own; obviously he was having a hard time with his armor. When Kumori offered to help him, the adventurer who was indeed a guardian did his best to pull up his visor. Two golden eyes, undeniably a wolf-hair’s, soon wandered over to the cart. He noticed the small forge and the other occupants: a forest sprite, a rabbit and a cute little girl with blue eyes. There was an obvious sparkle in the adventurer’s eyes when he noticed the samurai and Mr. Awkward Guardian even waved to her, and Caerbannog waved back just so she would not seem rude.
The wolf-hair guardian named Greyson soon stood up to his full height and dwarfed the assassin by a whole foot. He motioned for Kumori to help him remove the helmet at least and once it was off, he handed it to the assassin not knowing how repairing worked. Unlike Caerbannog, he had visible wolf-hair features all the time such as the fluffy ears and the fierce eyes. His hair was a dull grey color, fitting of his name. He breathed a sigh of relief once the helmet was gone, but curiously enough, the man did not speak. Instead, he unequipped his armor through the interface and thankfully he had some vanity clothes underneath which consisted of a simple pairs of trousers and a white shirt.
Caerbannog hopped over to the guardian and took the plate armor which he handed over to her willingly. In addition to that, the grey-haired wolf-hair also pulled out two pairs of chainmail armor from his inventory and let the little samurai carry it over to the cart. To the assassin, he left that helmet which was an accessory, an extra pair of leather trousers and also gave him two leather wristbands from each arm. They were almost identical except for the color of the leather which was used: one wristband made from a light-colored leather while the other had the usual dark brown. Lastly, he gave Kumori a leather-strapped necklace with a large, oval leather pendant upon which a white rose was embroidered. He grinned at the assassin and gave him a thumbs up, and then Greyson walked over to the side of the road and picked at something on his interface. A little while later, it was apparent that he was using telepathy to speak with someone.
The samurai, not minding anyone else’s business, walked over to the forge and fired it up again. Since it was already hot due to the previous utilization, it did not take long for the blacksmith tool to heat up completely. Some of the most dented components of the plate armor, particularly the arm guards, were run through the forge momentarily before Kyuu used her hammer to even out the dented areas. As for the body piece, it was too large for the forge but the damage was smaller compared to the guards so the blacksmith only used her heavier hammer to fix it. She looked over to the Alraune who at that point decided to look over whatever Ryuu was doing.
“ Mama Turtle! Give piggyback while working! “ was the little one’s request.
Kyuu waited for oniichan’s reaction; the forest sprite was not one to throw a tantrum if denied, but such a move would usually be detrimental to anyone who wanted a positive relationship with the baby. Roo decided to pester the tailor too and so he jumped off the cart, ran over to Ryuu and began to violently tug at and gnaw on the assassin’s left footgear.

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0563 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | After being handed the equipment by the guardian with little to no words said, Ryuu couldn’t help but think that it was a bit rude, but he shrugged. Business was business and quests were quests. He couldn’t expect everyone to act civilized. As he took the accessories, he looked through them to see the damage done to each. He looked at the helmet first. It seemed that for the most part, it was intact save for the worn padding on the inside. Ryuu decided to remove the stitches of the inside and then took out the padding on the inside. He then heard the Forest Sprite speak. She called for Mama Turtle. He first looked at Caerbannog, but she didn’t react, so he then looked at the Forest Sprite and pointed at himself with his eyebrows cocked. He was confused, but it seemed that she wanted a piggyback ride. Ryuu smiled. “Alright, get on,” he said with enthusiasm. After Alraune got onto his back, he would ask: “Can you hold on tight? I need to be able to do some work while you hang on,” he said. After he got a response, he would secure the helmet to a vice grip so that he could work with or without a single hand. After he had secured the helmet on the vice grip, Roo decided to assault him by tugging on his boots. Ryuu looked down at the rabbit. He bent down, not forgetting Alraune was on his back. He secured her and then lifted Roo to his head. Ryuu then lifted Alraune higher so that she now sat on his shoulders. “Take care of Roo for me, while I work, okay?” he asked.
Finally, Ryuu got back to work by removing the old padding and putting in new, better material padding that would keep the Guardian comfortable when he walked in the heat like this. It was times like these he wondered how those in full armor would be able to withstand the heat. You’d think they’d get heat stroke, walking around in tin cans like that. He didn’t know, but he didn’t question other people’s choice of armor. Ryuu stuck to his leather armors with cloth underneath.
After finishing up the padding and resewing the stitches so that the padding would not come out, he placed it on the car in an area that noted they were finished. He then looked at the accessories given to him. He would start repairing the Wrist Bands next. They weren’t too difficult. Some of the detailed art on them had been worn away and some pieces were cracked. He decided to replace the pieces that were cracked and re-detailed the area that had worn out. After 10-20 minutes of work, he finished both of these. The detailing on the wrist bands was akin to a lion. It seemed that this man was fond of old King Richard the Lion Heart. After finishing the details on it, he took the trousers next. This wasn’t armor, so Ryuu decided not to spend too much time on it. He simply patched up with low-grade material and did a quick stitch on it.
He then lifted the wrist bands towards the forest sprite and asked for her opinion. “What do you think? Good as new?” he asked. He then turned towards Caerbannog to see her progression of her repairs.

Repair only.- Awww. Mama Turtle was nice enough to give the Alraune a piggyback ride. The sprite did as she was asked and even giggled when Roo was placed upon the assassin’s head. She did not really understand what Mama Turtle was doing to the wristbands and things; Scoria was not a tailor so he’d never done anything like that. Though needlework was rather repetitive and boring to most onlookers, it kept the forest sprite interested enough all those ten to twenty minutes even. Hrairoo, on the other hand, fell asleep upon Ryuu’s head while the Alraune held him in place.
“ Good as new? “ the forest sprite echoed the question when the wristbands were shown to her. In turn, she poked Roo and pointed at the bands, “ Good as new! “
The frenmic rabbit did not really know what was going on so he just nodded and went back to sleep. While the tailor worked on his part of the workload, Caerbannog had moved on to one of the chainmail armors. Unlike platemail, it was a bit more complicated to repair but also faster to patch up if the blacksmith knew what they were doing. Kyuu, unfortunately, did not know what to do so she had to throw a bit of logic into it. Platemail was a whole piece of metal sheet shaped into an armor piece. Chainmail, on the other hand, was composed of many smaller pieces. Greyson’s chainmail in particular was one of those traditional ones with all the little hoops fastened together. Platemail grew weak if even one area was compromised since the armor worked as a whole; chainmail still had the same functionality even if damaged, and all the user had to do was to avoid getting him on the vulnerable spot.
Caerbannog set to work by first looking for chainmail supplies in the cart. Since the armor type was a common one, she figured that the landers had provided something with which to repair them. And soon enough, she did find chainmail links in one of the small boxes onboard the cart. Using her smaller tools, the wolf-hair painstakingly removed the damaged chainmail links and replaced them with new ones which were fastened securely into place. Removing and replacing links was just about as repetitive as needlework, and so Kyuu began to realize how bored Ryuu might have been all that time. Chatting was reserved for later though, and since the assassin did not talk to her, she did not chat him up either. It was work time and-
“ Are you really a girl? “ came a squeaky little voice that was undeniably female.
The samurai had just finished repairing one of the chainmail armors. She thought that another customer came by but to her surprise, and even her face showed it, the one who asked the question was none other than Greyson.
“ Yes, “ was the samurai’s concise answer.
“ Oh! You’re so cute! And lucky... you picked an appearance that suits you huh? “ said the guardian who sat him- uh, herself? - on the cart right beside where Kyuu sat, “ I’ve been working hard to earn some gold or maybe find one of those appearance changing potions as a mob drop, but so far, no luck. “
Kyuu nodded at Greyson to acknowledge whatever that person said, and then she inspected the other chainmail armor to check how much damage had been done to it. She hoped that the guardian would stop talking because the wolf-hair felt a bit awkward speaking to a girl in a man’s body, if only because he/she was so huge but had a squeaky voice. No luck though; Greyson kept talking.
“ Must be nice traveling with your brother huh? I miss my brothers, “ Greyson sighed.
The wolf-hair thought about correcting the guardian but eh, it was a long story and Ryuu had already taken to calling her his ‘sister’, strangely enough though he once had an aversion to being called Ryuu-oniichan. And so Kyuu merely nodded at the talkative guardian.
“ I called one of them just now. Still no appearance-changing potion on his end though. But I’m sure that we’ll find one someday! “ Greyson was surprisingly chipper even with such an odd fate.

He looked towards him or her. “Uhh… what?” he tried to put two and two together, but he was failing to. Finally he heard “appearance changing” potion and then Ryuu nodded. “Ohhh… I see… What an unfortunate predicament,” he said, “I’m sorry that you’re in such a situation.” Ryuu bowed courteously to her to show his heartfelt sorrow. He then went back to work, this time on her other accessories. This one was an easy fix for him. He took the old strap and removed it from the pendent. He took a thin piece of leather, twined it together with another piece of thin leather and did so until he felt it was strong enough to hold up for a good while. He didn’t expect it to see battle directly, but he did want to make sure it stayed on her neck at all times. After fixing the necklace, he handed her all her accessories back to her and smiled. “There you go, hope that helps you out,” he said.
After a few moments of awkward silence, he really had to ask. “I’m sorry.. This will probably sound weird, and I don’t mean to pry… but… how does it feel to be a man?” he asked. You were probably thinking he’d ask “why did she make a male character” or something along those lines. Nope. He was just curious what it felt like being of the opposite sex. It was quite an interesting topic, but he would understand if the other adventurer thought it was too personal to speak about it.
After he/she replied to him, Ryuu would nod. “I’ll be on the lookout for the potion. I’ll message you if I hear anything about it. I hear it’s a high-level potion though, so I won’t keep your hopes up…” though in game, Ryuu’s luck was unexplicably good. No one knew why, but it was.

Repair only.- While the guardian kept talking, Caerbannog worked on the last piece of chainmail armor. It was a bit more damaged than the first one what with a whole arm that was wrecked already. The blacksmith wondered how that happened and could only deduce that the owner might have been killed or severely injured in battle for the armor to have sustained that much damage. But it was not her place to ask about such matters; she was there to repair the item and that was what she did. The wolf-hair pulled off all of the damaged link and whatever was below them, and then she took out a whole stretch of chainmail link ‘sheet’ which was a pre-linked piece in the stash of repair materials. She then measured the length that was required to restore the damaged sleeve and set to work attaching it to the guardian’s chainmail. By then, the Alraune had taken a liking to what Auntie was doing and so she hopped off of Mama Turtle with Roo in her arms, and then she went over to Speedy Turtle’s side. Kyuu gave her a gentle pat on the head and resumed her work, and that was when Ryuu-oniichan popped the question.
“Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?“ both girls, the samurai and the guardian, looked at the assassin with an eyebrow raised.
Was that a proper question to ask any lady? He was right. It was -so- weird. Greyson looked at Caerbannog, and she looked at her/him, and they both sighed.
“I guess brothers are the same everywhere huh?“ quipped the guardian, “That’s actually the first thing that my eldest brother asked me when we got sucked in by the Catastrophe.“
“Don’t have to answer that,“ Kyuu glared at the tailor and then she went back to repairing the chainmail armor. The Alraune glared at Ryuu too just because Auntie did the same.
“It’s fine! He’d probably not be able to sleep or something, if I didn’t answer the question!” the guardian laughed and then she looked up at the assassin, “To answer your query concisely: it is very uncomfortable. The height is so different from what I’m used to! We wanted a kind of Band of Brothers party so I made a male character... if only I knew that it would turn out this way. And not to mention the guy parts! Eeeeeeeeeew! I had a very awkward talk with my brothers about that!”
The guardian grimaced at the thought and Kyuu could do nothing to turn the situation around aside from shoving the repaired armors to Greyson.
“Oh hey, so fast! Thanks!” the guardian accepted all of the repaired things and equipped some while the rest were stuffed back to her inventory, “Welp! I guess I should go train some more or something. It was nice meeting you!”
At that, the Tin Man waved to the traveling repairmen and she ran off back to the desolate lands of Sarum.
“Let’s go, we’re done,” Kyuu settled onto the back of the cart and made sure to cool off the forge completely. She hugged the forest sprite and Roo, and shot one last glare to Ryuu-oniichan, “Rude question. That was very rude.”
