He embodies some sort of platonic ideal when it comes to the male body: he has the build of a gymnast with a set of thick, muscular shoulders, a thin waist and long, muscular legs. He’s calmly confident and it shows in his gait and posture: he usually looks relaxed and casual, but there’s something dangerously intense about how he holds himself. His hazel eyes, although perpetually half-closed, are said to be, quote-unquote ‘gorgeous’. Given all that, it’s not surprising that he was known as a heartbreaker when he left high school. Unfortunately, post-Catastrophe his fashion sense tends towards the… clownish. He compulsively dyes and styles his hair in a wide array of hues and colors. Sometimes it’s a messy teal, others a tiger striped forest of black and orange, but mostly it will be poppy-flower red and drowned with enough pomade so that he can slick it back and have it stay up in sharp, fiery waves. He puts on facepaint as often as he can, painting a tear on one cheek and a star on the other. What with limited supplies, this is not always possible. His clothes are generally impractical looking, layered so that he wears a thick, banded shirt on the inside and a light, puffy-shouldered shirt on top of it that has a suit pattern sewed onto the breast. His socks are similarly layered while his pants are huge and puffy. His shoes, while not what you could call classic clown shoes, are stylized black winkle pickers, the points sticking up into the air. Somehow, despite all the laws of fashion, he can pull off the ensemble without looking completely ridiculous, but it is a very near thing. Many describe him as ‘the stupidest looking fellow I ever saw,’ but Joshua obviously does not mind. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]In a word, Joshua is approachable. He’s kind, intelligent, brave and even a little dorky. Despite his appearance, he’s surprisingly friendly and can make almost anyone feel instantly at ease. He’s smart and studious, but also fun-loving and very enthused by current events, Disney songs and sports like rugby and cricket. His ridiculous schedule aside, he makes time for any of his acquaintances and can be generous to the point of stupidity. Most of his friends will caution him on being too nice to others. He usually smiles and says something self-deprecating in reply. Truth is, Joshua is a sociopath. A high functioning one to be sure, but still, he’s the genuine article. He’s not proud of it, but he’s not particularly ashamed of it either. Empathy and remorse are strangers to him, though he is quite capable of sympathy and putting himself in other’s shoes. He just doesn’t care. He can be charming when it suits him, and viciously amoral when it does not. While that lack of fellow-feeling makes him an excellent law student, it is less conducive towards long-term relationships so he tends to be without friends, even when accompanied by a sea of fellow students. Everyone likes him, but no one really knows who he is. Online and post-Catastrophe he is a truly epic troll. Not a vestige remains of the serious, studious young man that he was in real life. Instead, he has let his inhibitions go and become something of a caricature. He gets annoyed easily, entertained easily, depressed easily and the skates across the entire emotional spectrum in the space a few moments. Everything about him is exaggerated, almost to an absurd degree. He sighs a lot, laughs a lot, plays around, and takes nothing seriously. Annoyingly enough, he’s very, very smart and soon to be very, very skilled. He’ll still complain that the summoner class is stupid at the drop of a hat though. What’s the point of a game where you can’t rain fire from the sky or kill things with your bare hands? [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Born to wealthy, middle-class parents, Joshua’s the eldest child as well as the favorite. It’s not surprising: from the outside he looks like a surprisingly well-rounded overachiever: he can sing every Disney song known to man (some in more than one language), plays amateur rugby, coaches cricket in his spare time, volunteers at soup kitchens and is the underpaid, if not quite underappreciated stage manager for a theater group that has brought Shakespeare in the Park to, well, the local park. On top of all that, he is attending law school. He’s often called the ‘Magician’ for the way he manages his impossibly packed schedule and for the way he can still find time for people. Most people find him too good to be true, but usually say so in a joking way. Typically, he’ll laugh and claim that healthy living, lack of technological savvy and the ability to go without sleep for weeks at a time give him ample time for ‘resume padding’. It’s really not as much as it looks, honest. In truth it was only after a certain incident he learned discipline and managed, through ironclad self-control to never let others onto the fact that he doesn’t really give a damn about anyone’s existence unless it’s for their entertainment value. His parents think he’s an angel, as do his acquaintances. His little sister is the un-favorite in contrast and her apathy for academics and extracurriculars often gets her compared to him, but only she knows the truth and that’s because she’s a little like him. Not to the same extent, for sure, but they share the affections and understandings of a sibling bond. He was dragged into the game by her nagging and promise of ‘consequence free personality deconstruction.’ He’s decided he quite likes it in Log Horizon, even if the class he picked has some of the silliest ideas ever put on paper. This information is only visible to the Fortuneteller. While some Fortunetellers use this as a way to avoid trouble, there's been a number of field boss hunters who like to have one with them so that they can predict the incoming monster and make preparations. [attr="class","skill"][Alchemist Subclass] Transmutation – Level 1 Skill : Alchemists are able to use Magitech in battle without any penalties based on their main class. Also a toggle skill. Through their abilities in creating efficient Magitech, all costs for using Magitech are halved for the Alchemist. Their research also give them an advantage in fighting Artificial Life and deal an additional 10% damage. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Starter Cloth Armor: A basic set of cloth armor made from cheap fabric. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Starter Wand: A one-handed starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap wood. Conducts magic better than a regular weapon but lacks any physical damage presence. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Apprentice Grimoire: A one-handed apprentice’s book of spells designed for novice mages, made out of cheap materials. Doesn’t particularly have too many pages, but it is better than nothing. If used by a magic class, you get the ability to shoot a basic magic attack with a range of 2 meters.
