It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Pwyll stood at a forge in the St. Pancreas Station. In front of him was two benches with tools on them, an anvil, a quencher and behind him was the furnace. Taking out of his inventory, he placed the metal slab on the bench and put the coal into the furnace, starting it up. He then put the oil into the quencher and rolled up his sleeves. Having his ears flat against his hair, he hid his tail around his waist under his shirt to make him look human without removing them. Waiting for the furnace to get hot, he thought about what he would make. The weather was overcast and a bit chilly, which would make it easier working around a hot forge. The previous thing he had made was beginner equipment. From what he learned of the crafting system, there were set recipes to start with which skilled players were currently adding to.
He had nothing in particular he felt like making, so he would make a sword for now. Add one more to the collection. After he finished, he would need to go get some more crafting materials. Using his level one material, he would make a level one sword with a black finish and then hopefully it would be roughly the same style as his current weapons without the guards. It made it easier to maneuver his hands around it that way. Feeling the furnace warming up to the right temperature, Yuu grabbed his metal slab with the tongs and moved it to the furnace's door. Using the foot pedal/lever, he slowly put pressure on it to open the furnace's metal doors. With it open, he placed the long slab of metal in the middle of the furnace with the tongs and closed it, waiting for it to go red hot. Next, he would need to hammer it.
Thanks to the system, majority of the process would be carried out automatically so he would mainly just have to strike the metal into shape and the game would take care of the intricate details for him. Still, it was nice to feel the piece coming together the way he wanted it to. Looking through the small slit on the furnace door, he checked how hot the metal was. Seeing it glowing bright reddish white, he opened it up and reached in with his tongs. Pulling it out, he shifted it over to the anvil and laid it down, holding it in place with the tongs in one hand and then picked up the hammer from the bench. To make a katana, he would need to flatten this thick piece out, fold it in half, flatten it together and stretch it out longways, and then repeat until he felt satisfied with the amount of folds.
Striking the red hot metal as hard and quickly as he could, he tried to get it flat enough to fold it before it would cool down. It looked easy after watching some other blacksmiths do it, but it was harder now when he was doing it himself. Comparing his progress and actions with what his memory told him of how the others did it, he felt confident that it was alright. Folding the metal over, the began hammering it again to find it was going cold. Sticking it back in the furnace, he waited for it to reheat before taking it out again and repeating the hammering process. By the time he was satisfied, it had been folded 4 times to make it 16 layers thick, adding to its strength.
After heating it again, he began hammering it to length and flattening it to dimension of a katana, putting more emphasis on hammering the flat edge, striking it on a slight angle to cause the metal to warp the metal into a curve. He could fix it up with normal strikes later and correct any flaws in it as he works on the fine details of the blade. Getting it to the length he wanted, he began hammering it more specifically to curve it to get it to a certain curve which he would be satisfied with using. It wasn't much of one, but enough to tell that it was a curve and a katana. Flattening the entire thing out to specifications, he put it into the furnace one last time. When it was done, he placed it in the quencher slowly and carefully, watching as the oil caught fire from the heat. He would have to hammer it again after it was quenched.

Tsukiyomi was quite interested in getting some new weapons, He needed some new armor and a new weapon. He already had his guild mate Kazuko's acquaintance Masami to tailor him some cloth armor. He wanted a new Katana. His beginner one was pretty useless. He had it for sometime now, he needed something better if he wanted to survive. What better place to look than St. Pancras Station. It's where all the crafters gather. He wanted to learn a little about the place first, and he found a nice place to make a quill pen. He learned that to be a good scribe, he needs a good quill pen. An old quill was going to do him no good. He also wanted to make some parchment. Realizing right next to the place was a blacksmith. He seemed to be making a katana. He was skillfully folding the layers, one after the other. This quite intrigued Tsukiyomi. This reminded him he needed to start on his, project too. This was fun to observe, and Tsukiyomi took comfort in the sound of pounding metal from the place next door. He started and looked at the table. He needed 1 old quill, and 2 old inks. He first took a look at the quills, he choose one fairly big. He thought about how to make the quill pen. He could use the system, but then it would be no fun. Anything made by the system is basically mass produced items. Tsukyomi wanted to make his own. He pondered on how to make a quill pen. He knew that he would have to shave off the the tip of the feather, until the membrane showed. After that he looked and studied the membrane. He decided to cut the quill open at where the feather curved. He made the quill at last. He grabbed some useless scraps and tested out his new invention. He tried it and it didn't turn out very well. He tried making different ways of cutting the quill. He finally found one he liked, but he ran through 2 bottles of old ink. He looked over at the other work station to observe the blacksmith's work.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
With the sword in the quencher, held by tongs, it was about ready. Pulling it out, Pwyll lifted it over to the bench to check the dimensions. It was pretty much into the right shape, so he laid it down after wiping it and began hammering it so that it wasn't bent in any place. He could smooth the rest of it out later. Using a specific hammer that he had learned about, he laid it on the face of the blade and began striking it with a second hammer to give it a flat, parallel surface. This took quite some time since he had quenched it, but he wanted to flatten it now before reheating it. There also wasn't much of a difference between the flat edge and the sharp edge, so he would have to grind those in later. Or do whatever it was since technology was limited in these times.
While doing this, Pwyll noticed someone had entered the stall next to him which was set up for scribes. He found it a bit odd for that to be next to a forge with the heat and stuff, since it may spark the paper. Then again, it could dry them out well enough from a distance. He didn't really know much about making ink, quills and parchments, but his wellspring of wisdom was telling him that maybe the parchment was made from hide, ink from squid and quill pens from birds. The only thing he was sure of was the quill pens because it was a feather. On the other side of him was a wood crafting station. Bows would probably be made there. Thinking about it, his main class could use bows, and probably proficiently too. He might try it out sometime. Might be worth a shot, both literally and figuratively.
Back to his work, Pwyll finished his hammering and checked it over with his eye, holding it up level. Satisfied, he put it in the furnace. He didn't have a means to heat a single spot to work on, so he would have to do the next part quickly. On this one, he had to use a specific hammer which is used to craft a katana. It would give the katana its edge while keeping the curve on it, or perhaps refining the edge. The more he did this, the more interested he was in crafting both in the game and in real life. As the blade reached the glowing heat, he pulled it out and put it on the bench this time. It wasn't at an extreme heat, just enough to make it malleable. Having it flat on the smooth bench made it easier to do this.
Holding it with the tongs in one hand, he used the unique hammer and began shaping the edge of the blade. He was hitting it rather fast since he had to do the entire thing before it lost its glow, otherwise he could risk fracturing the metal and ruining the grain flow. If that happened, the blade would be useless. Still, it was only a level one. He was mainly trying to get rid of his remaining level one materials before moving on to getting more materials and forging something of a higher quality. His next piece that he would make for himself would probably be his plate armor. His beginner one was showing wear. And it was pretty bland. If anything, he wanted something closer to fancy which gave off a less intimidating aura. Dull and damaged armor was rather intimidating compared to shiny, light colored armor with some fancy embedding on it.
Finishing the edge, all he had left to do was grind out the finish, polish it, heat treat it to stain in black to how he preferred them to be, and then finishing touches like adding the hilt, spacer and placing it in a scabbard he had prepared earlier. To craft, everything had to be planned, and backups had to be made in case things don't go to dimensions. Luckily this time, it came out to the proper dimensions so he wouldn't have to go get a new scabbard to fit the curve, but there was no telling for the rest. The wood crafter who was in the station next to him had prepared his current one which he had bought before starting. Though, there was no one working there now so he would have to go out and find another scabbard if he was to work on another piece.

This time Tsukiyomi was once again, entranced by his next door neighbor, he didn't want to disturb him working, He looked dedicated forging that sword. He wanted to approach the young blacksmith, but he was so into forging the sword, he didn't dare disturb him. He went back to his own work. He need to start making some parchment paper. He had 3 old papers ready though. He started by looking at some documents for making parchment. He studied them thoroughly. He first took the first three paper, and a bucket of water and soaked them one after the other. He laid them with precision, and carefulness. Not missing a single edge. He put them in a layer of three. Each was stacked cleanly. He then applied some mana, as an experiment. He heard from a friend, that this quickens the drying and make the parchment stronger. It was just a rumor, so he wasn't sure. After 10 minutes the parchment dried. He didn't know if what he did helped, but whatever. He then took a look and was satisfied with the parchment. He looked across at the blacksmith again. This time, taking close attention to study his actions. How he hammered the blade, how he cooled it, and how he tempered it. It was quite the sight. You could tell this blacksmith was skilled indeed. Tsukiyomi continued looking, and he thought that the blacksmith might have noticed him.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Pwyll moved the blade over to the second bench and laid it down, pulling up a seat as he picked up a couple of tools. Now he had to give it a fine grind and polish. Using the manual grinding tool which consisted of his hand and a rough grit bar, he slid it up and down the blade. With the strength of an adventurer, he could easily do the same amount of work that a mechanical grit belt could do, so he was thankful for that at least. What he was doing now was smoothing out the surface to make it even and remove any marks, indents and so on from the hammering. Grinding away, he went up the entire length of the blade with each stroke, not doing quick bits on a single spot in order to keep the overall finish even. He was even counting how many times he was doing that side so that the next side would be the same.
Flipping the blade over, he applied the same amount of force and swiped from top to bottom in one go, repeating this the same amount of times as the other side. He remembered watching random tidbits of Japanese movies where there would be a a smithy making a katana, and they typically sat seiza-style with the blade stretched out in front of them instead of from side to side like he has it now. They would then use the grit, which he thinks was called a whetstone, and lean forward to reach the entire blade. Thinking about it, it is the more strength evening technique whereas the force is applied randomly how he was now. While thinking this, he finished the piece he was working on and held it up, checking it was good enough. Satisfied, he moved on to giving it a shine.
Going over it with a finer grit stone, he instantly noticed the shine it was getting. It could be finished there but he wanted to temper it one last time. He repeated the long swipes with the grit to avoid having a single spot shinier than another, bringing the entire blade's shine up to a good standard for the materials used. They were only left over level one materials, but at least they were going to good use. They were good practice, too. He could refine his skills on these low level materials and then use those skills on higher level materials. Trying to use high level materials is more challenging, but you could say that perfecting a low level material can be just as hard, to a certain degree. In either case, practice makes perfect. Finishing the shining of the blade, he checked over it once more before going over to the furnace.
Confirming that the furnace had dropped in temperature, he opened it up and put the blade in again. To temper, one needs to lower the temperature and then heat the blade over a longer period of time. It's like cooking noodles. Using boiling water, the noodles tend to absorb it and end up soggy. In contrast, boiling noodles in a pot on an element would make the noodles slimy as it cooks it rather than absorbing the water. Now that the blade was in the furnace, he had a little while before he could pull it out and then quench it. In the meantime, he began cleaning up his work space, putting hammers back where they were suppose to be and the grit stones where they belong. He also cleaned up the anvil, smoothing off the surface so that it would be good for the next person.
Noticing someone watching, Pwyll took a moment to asses his inner conflicts. Primarily, how he currently looked like and how he was trying to appear to others. Since he wasn't in his armor, he could be more relaxed here, but lay off the feminism a bit. Using a slightly deeper voice, he made it androgynous as he spoke up to the person. 「I'll be with you in a moment. I'm just about done.」 Having said that, he went back to the furnace with the tongs and pulled out the blade. It was done. Moving over to the quencher, he slowly dipped the blade in all the way to cool the metal and increase its hardness. Pulling it out and wiping it, he checked the look and was satisfied with the black finish, checking the name it was given and then attaching the rest of the stuff.
Pwyll went over to a bench and pulled out the scabbard, hilt and spacer. He first slid the thin block of wood and thread onto the tang of the blade meant for it, confirming it fits and then hammered two wooden sticks of good quality into the holes to hold them together. The black cloth/thread wrapped hilt was firmly in place, so he next slid the metal spacer on the blade down to the hilt. This would hold it in its scabbard while allowing space in the scabbard so that the blade itself wouldn't touch it naturally. Hammering the spacer into place and hammering it together, he picked up the scabbard and slid the katana in. It fit well. With that, it was ready. There was no guard, so it looked like a curved piece of black wood when sheathed. Checking its properties, he looked at the name and details to see how good it was. Of course, being a level one equip, it would only be so good. Cleaning up and putting the blade in his inventory, he walked over to the entrance of the crafting station and gave a light bow to the person who was waiting and watching. 「Sorry for the wait, and welcome. How can I help you? Did you need something made? Or would you like something repaired? Or... were you wanting me?」 With his typical androgynous, slightly feminine voice, Pwyll asked that question with a natural smile and tilted his head, unaware of the implications of what he said.

Tsukiyomi was watching the skillful youth work on the katana, not that he was any older either. The man looked to be in his twenties, his face lacks facial hair, with a bit of femininity. Although when he is working on the blade he had a certain [allure]. He seemed to have really noticed Tsukiyomi. He told him to wait for a while. Then after finishing work on the blade, he came up and said some very seductive words. This threw Tsukiyomi's mind in a frenzy. He was thinking in his head, does this guys swing that way. He is pretty feminine, is he "trap?" He was bewildered by the situation. His mind went through many thought as he thought about what to do or say. He decided to play along, although Tsukiyomi mostly fancies girls, he didn't mind guys. He wasn't sure if the man was just joking, or what was going on. Tsukiyomi who was leaning against the wall, pulled the man closer, and reversed their positions. Now the man was against the wall, Tsukiyomi put his right hand on the wall shielding the man from escaping. The man could running back into the forge, but would not be able to out Tsukiyomi. He then drew his face closer. "So you swing that way, ha? I don't mind taking a tumble with you." Tsukiyomi was waiting to see how the man would respond.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Pwyll was at a loss for words as he was backed up against the wall. In these sort of awkward situations, all he could do was force a smile as he raised his hands with flat palms in a sort of way to show his personal space, not touching the adventurer but still keeping away from him well enough. In his mind, he quickly ran through what could have led to such a situation. All he did was inquire whether the person was requesting a craft or a repair for some equipment of theirs. That would be the obvious choice seeing as he was currently working inside a blacksmith station. The only other reason was if they were looking for him in particular for something. Taking a look at his statements from a non-business viewpoint, he realized what had happened. Sighing to himself in his mind, he decided to find a way to fix this situation before he got angry.
Having been just working around heat, the metal on his waist which was there for aesthetics was now scorching hot and had yet to cool down. It was a metal chain, and thanks to the blacksmith class skill, he could handle the heat of it over his clothes so he was use to it. Grabbing it with his bare hands like it was nothing, which in truth it was for him, he wrapped it around his forearm and grabbed the scribe's hand which was blocking him, and gripped tightly. Thought he couldn't feel the heat himself, the other person would definitely feel the heat of it, especially directly on the skin. And this didn't count as an attack since it was merely heat residue. With a calm yet sinister smile on, Pwyll gave a response which he had used in real life before. 「I hear it hurts to be bitten. Are you sure you want to try that?」
Using the metal chain wrapped arm, he shoved his way past and back into the forge area, opening the furnace to check if the heat had died down. Seeing no more glow, he stuck his chained arm in to check the heat, confirming that it was alright. For a non-blacksmith, that would have been quite hot. Of course, he just recharged his chain's heat. 「Want something made? Then first we'll have to go get the materials. I just used up my last stock, and need some higher quality materials either way. To repair or make something, I'll need materials of the right level, so you'll need to tell me what you want. Furthermore, I'm still a low level smith, so don't expect much.」 Saying to here, he started making his way over to leave the blacksmith station before turning back to the adventurer, raising his chained up with a smile.
「Or would you rather learn about the toughness of a blacksmith?」 Not waiting for a response, Pwyll started walking off, putting the chain back onto his clothes. It looked like two separate chains on his pants, but they were actually linked to make a single. Thanks to his clothing, the rest wasn't seen with the jacket hung over it. It was a chain that wasn't in a loop, so he could easily pull it off. It wasn't an accessory or item, just part of his clothing. Keeping his ears flat against his head, he left his tail under his clothes and wrapped around his waist. He was really beginning to think that it would be easier to leave them both hidden with the racial trait which would remove them, but that was just no fun.
Walking down the street, he looked for a vendor doing scabbards and hilts. These were vital, so that would be essential to get first. Asking for the adventurers input into what he wanted, Pwyll chose the hilt, wrap and scabbard after this consideration. This also decided what the curvature would be for the blade when making it. Next, he moved along to the part of St. Pancreas Station where players focused on supplying crafting materials. Finding the blacksmith section, he looked over, asking the person whose name he had yet to ask on what type of sword they wanted. It wouldn't affect the material he would buy, but it would be good to think on it now. Picking out the three materials he needed, he chose another set in the event his customer wanted an enchantment. With everything bought, he made his way back to the workstation, glancing over at the player's screen name. Tsukiyomi. Another Japanese wannabe?

Sheesh, Tsukiyomi thought, this man is a tiger. Well in both good ways and bad. He might be a trap, thought Tsukiyomi. What's with these people these days? He thought. One trap after the other. What is going on? Tsukiyomi was shocked that the man burned his hand. This did piss him off a little. It was he who made the sexual statements first. He then calmed down, he was a little aggressive as well.
I mean, he would make for a perfect trap. I should introduce him to some of my trap guildmates. That would be a sight indeed. Moving on he asked me if I wanted anything. So I guess I'll ask him to make me a weapon with an enchantment. "I am Tsukiyomi of Apocrypha, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am in need of some new equipment, and I was wondering if you could make it for me. Sorry for the aggressive greeting, you can't argue that you led me on. So hey could you make me a weapon with an enchantment? I am willing to pay for supplies and maybe add a tip if I like it. What do you say?"

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Confirming what the customer wanted, Pwyll headed back to his workbench and began the next process. This would take him a while to do. On top of spending a lengthy amount of time forging, he had to also add an enchantment. He wanted to get in at least one more forge for himself if possible, too. Taking a deep breath in, he placed the materials on the bench that he needed, leaving the rest in his inventory. Filling up the quencher and starting the furnace up again with more materials, he got ready to place his metal in the heater with the metal tongs from earlier. In real life, forging a sword like this would probably take a few days, especially a Katana which required the folding technique. Thanks to game logic still being in play, it was a lot quicker to get these things done. Still, realism had been thrown in.
Leaning against the bench, metal slab behind him and tongs in one hand, Pwyll began thinking. It was becoming a habit to think back on reality while he did this stuff. Helped to pass the time. Things about his childhood were mainly what he looked back on. Times in school that he enjoyed. His life only really started again when he got into high school and started living a peaceful life with his brother. He tries not to dwell on the bad memories such as the orphanage or the fact he has no blood relatives, but has accepted everything as it is, realizing that he is who he is because of how he grew up. Still, that lingering thought remained about who his real parents were, and why he was abandoned. He had heard about how they died, but something didn't feel right, and couldn't help but blame himself.
With the furnace now at temperature, Pwyll grabbed the metal slab and moved it into the furnace, raising it to a glowing temperature. Watching it for a while to make sure it was heated evenly, he felt satisfied as he pulled it out and moved to the anvil, grabbing the hammer from his trousers where he had tucked it away. Striking the metal, he flattened it out to get a length double of what it was earlier, hammering fast so the metal didn't cool while he did so. Once it reached double the length, he pinched it at the middle using the tongs and hammered it over, creating a fold, and began hammering that together, reheating as necessary and repeating until it he had a total of 16 folds. 2, 4, 8, 16. If he remembered correctly, some of the more professional real world Katana's reached fold counts in the hundreds. That would be a lot of metal to start with.
While this went on, he thought about the past. How he first started working. Instead of going on to university like his brother, Yuu wanted to work and earn his living to repay the kindness their parents had given them. So, he landed a job as a waiter at his current work place, a cafe by day, restaurant by afternoon and bar in the evenings, sometimes late. Back when he got the job several years ago, it was just a rising star cafe. During the hands-on training that was given, he was forced to wear a waitress outfit because he was confused for a girl like every other time, but he had no way to object. It was a strict training, and for good reason. He also feared that letting the truth out would lower his chances of getting the job. It ended well though, since he is now one of the top employees.
Or, at least was. Who knows now that he was in this world. If he was lucky, maybe his mind had just been copied and implanted into the world. Surely that much would have been possible rather than converting the entire body. Reaching the amount of folds he wanted, he heated it one more time, leaving it in there for a while since this time he would be hammering it out to length. Next step after getting it to length would be to get it down to dimensions, along with the curve, before heat treating it and quenching it before a final temper. Nodding to himself, he pulled the folded metal from the forge and placed it on the anvil, grabbing the hammer he would need for this and getting started. Another hour or so to go.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
With metal held by tongs in one hand and hammer in the other, Pwyll began striking while the iron was hot, so to speak. With the amount of folds being set, he had to thin the blade out and stretch it to just over the estimated dimensions. He could file down whatever he went over. Striking the metal repetitively, he started from where the hilt would be and worked progressively along the length so that there wasn't any wonky parts in it, spreading it reasonably evenly. It took a while and a couple of re-heats, but he eventually got it stretched to length. Following this, he had to meticulously flatten the blade and get the rough back of the blade and sharp edge decided. Even if the process he followed was incorrect, the system would pick up the slack and take over for him. At least that was what he hoped for.
Changing hammers, Pwyll struck on on side of the blade while it was on the workbench instead of the anvil. This was to prevent the blade from bending as he struck it with the unique hammer. As he continued, the blade slowly began to curve and a sharp edge began to form. After a few more times over, he heated it once more and swapped hammers back so that he could get it closer to dimensions without losing that grain flow. Having studied some metallurgy for casual reading had helped out quite a bit. If someone asked him if he knew everything, his response would be that he didn't know everything, only what he knew. If one could see inside his mind, there would be a lot to look at. Back to the task at hand, Pwyll finished up the current step and he felt satisfied and grabbed a whetstone.
Using the whetstone would take a long time, but would give the best spread as you would go up and down the entire length of the blade and even out any deformities or high spots. It was like a bigger version of a file for shaving metal down to dimensions. As he did this process, Yuu let his mind wonder again. This time it was towards music. He was beginning to miss playing his piano and violin back in the real world. Only bards seemed capable of using instruments in Elder Tale, but he hadn't tested that theory yet. Maybe he could find a piano somewhere and start playing, or borrow a Bard's violin. That said, he would have to be careful since he usually hid inside his armor most of the time. He would have to look out where he played so others wouldn't find the "white knight" playing such ballad type music.
Filing both sides of the blade down to dimension and sharpening the edge roughly, he held it up and felt satisfied with his accomplishment. Next was to temper it. Sticking it into the furnace on a lower heat, he left it there since it needed time to temper. This would ultimately harden the blade, and quenching it straight after would prevent it from becoming brittle. Similar to what happens to super heated metal which is doused in water, it becomes less malleable, harder to bend. What was left to do after that is simply to give it a shiny finish, file it down as needed and give it his custom black color. Following that would be to attach the hilt and fit it to the scabbard. He didn't have a guard for it since that was also a personal taste of his to leave it off.
Sitting down in a chair while waiting, Pwyll leaned back and used it like a rocking chair. While he was sitting in this forged covered in dust, grease and oil, he looked both fitting and unfitted for the environment. His soft, feminine looks and tomboyish clothing made him seem out of place, yet the combination of dirtied skin and clothes from the work tools appeared to suit him to a fault. Could this be considered "gap moe"? Who knows. Maybe @dindeen would know. He just had that feel about her. Like she was another wellspring of knowledge. Come to think of her, it was that Samurai who helped him with his crafting when he started off. Not too long after that, they proceeded to get drunk and sick. He won the challenge they had going. Wonder if she was still mad over that? Looking back at the furnace, it seemed ready to pull the blade out. How much time had passed? He got lost in thoughts so easily.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Pulling the hot blade out of the furnace, Pwyll put it straight into the quencher, causing it to rapidly cool down while at the same time heating the oil. If the blade had been super heated instead of tempered, the oil may have caught fire. With it now cooled, he pulled the blade out of the quencher, wiping it with a rag as he did so. Placing the rag into his back pocket, Pwyll moved on to using the whetstone again to file the blade down to dimensions and scrape off all the burnt layer of the blade. This part wouldn't take too long since he had done the majority of it earlier. Making sure he had the blade to a fine sharpness, he went over the flat side of the blade to dull any sharp parts. It was flat for a reason, after all. Satisfied with it, he placed it into the bench and grabbed the rag from earlier from his pocket.
Grabbing the chemical stainer, he slapped some onto the rag and began rubbing it evenly across the entire blade. At higher levels, he could probably turn the blade black using different materials or by applying some magic during the process, but it would be a while before he could experiment with that. Right now he had to avoid speed crafting, doing everything himself until he reached a satisfactory crafting level. After all, his goal was to reach 1000 blades created in the long run, but maybe 100 for short term. It would probably end up with 1000 all up and then 100 high level blades, the other 900 being blades ranging from lowest level to highest level. Following this craft, he would be adding an enchantment. That was something he needed to get use to as well. A blade is just a blade without an enchantment to add character to it.
With the katana thoroughly stained, he put it back into the furnace to allow it to soak through. This wouldn't take very long, so he could go on to assembling the final piece. Moving over to a workbench, he laid out the hilt, scabbard and other parts. There was the two bamboo pieces that would hold the blade in the hilt. He had already put the two holes in the tang so the blade would have the same hardness overall instead of being weaker in the tang. Waiting a while longer, he checked the blade to find it was thoroughly blackened. Pulling it out, he dipped it into the quencher one last time. It hadn't been extremely heated so there was no need to polish it again. Moving it over to the bench once it was cooled, he got started on the assembly.
Sliding the tang into the hilt, he held hammered in the bamboo sticks and then clipped off the bits that stuck out. Wiggling the blade, he confirmed it was stuck in solidly before sealing it. Sliding the metal collar onto the blade, it slid down to the hilt and he hammered that in place. This would essentially reinforce it and was also the part which would hold it in the scabbard without it touching the inside. Getting that to dimensions and checking it over, he felt satisfied. The hilt was a black lacquer with a cross-hatched diagonal design to provide the grip. Sliding the blade into the scabbard, he confirmed it was fitting properly and nodded to himself. All done. Turning around to look for his customer, he was nowhere in sight. Well, their loss. Still, he was going to continue with making the enchantment. Maybe the customer would come back.
So to add an enchantment, he had to 'reforge' the equipment. Materials needed were a metal slab and two lots of quenching oil. Based on that, he would be combining the current blade with the metal slab, heating it until they combine, quench the metal, and repeat until it is back down to dimensions. Somewhat like causing the blade to absorb the metal? Maybe that is what it will do in the furnace. Then he will just have to file it down to dimension again, and hope that the reforging stains it black for him, otherwise he has to do it again. Following that, he would probably need to temper it a few times. Was that what the second quenching oil was for? Nothing to it but to do it, really. With that, Pwyll took out the next lot of materials and drew the katana from the scabbard. Time to start his next task.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Pwyll took a deep breath in. On to the next order of business. Enchanting his newly created weapon. Taking the katana out of its scabbard, he placed the blade on the bench and got out another metal slab, placing it in the furnace and renewing the coal inside. Getting the fire blazing, he watched the slab inside start glowing. It was a mild red at first, and eventually grew into a bright red, to yellow, and then white in spots. Feeling this was the right temperature, he vented some heat and put the blade in up to its hilt. This should warm it up enough to be work hardened. Hopefully the game mechanics would take over and allow it to forge back into the same shape. Some of that would probably take his own skill instead of system support. The system would probably only go so far. At the very least, with his enhanced memory, he could recall exactly what he did at a later time and make it easier to fix the flaws or make it better.
When both metals were sufficiently heated, the blacksmith in training pulled them both out and moved over to the anvil. This would be the difficult part. First he had to hold the blade on the flat surface of the anvil. Luckily, the anvil had a large enough surface area to hold it well enough, so next he placed the metal slab on the blade, hopefully weighing it down enough. Using the tongs, he did his best to hold the two in place and begin hammering the slab onto the blade. He hammered away furiously, doing his best to cause it to flatten with half the metal on one side of the blade and the other half looking like off cuts. After a while of this, the blade started to become work hardened as the heat dissipated. Putting it back into the furnace, he watched the heat rise for a while, hoping it would hurry up. It was fun being a blacksmith, but the long intervals in between was rather annoying. Though, it did give him a nice break here and there.
Pulling the deformed blade out of the oven, he confirmed it was hot enough by the look of it. He had gotten use to seeing that color variation now. Moving over to the anvil, he laid it flat and spread the metal out over the first side full this time. It didn't take too long, but this was where it would get tricky. If there was a real blacksmith watching him work, they would probably be turning their heads at his poor workmanship and handling. Bringing it to the edge of the anvil, he began hammering down the metal where it spread off the original blade, bending it around so that he could start hammering it onto the other face. Though this way, he would have to get that sharpness on the blade again, and even out the surface after a hard time hammering.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Hammering the last of the spread out metal so that it could be flattened onto the second face of the blade, Pwyll noticed it was getting harder to bend. Time to throw it back into the furnace. Using the now warm hilt, he picked up the unfinished blade and placed it inside the fryer, closing it as much as he could to keep in the heat. It was still glowing a dull red, so it probably wouldn't take too long this time. After several minutes, Pwyll pulled the blade out of the furnace and placed it back on the anvil, grabbing the hammer straight away and getting to work. Bending down to lower his height, he kept a hand on the hilt to hold it steady as he struck the metal onto the face of the blade. Putting a lot of force into his strikes while trying to be fast and consistent, he did his best to flatten it all in this one go. After a few minutes, he managed to get it to a suitable flatness.
Now he had to work on getting it down to dimensions. Moving over to the bench, he grabbed his whetstone and got to work. Moving up and down the blade in long, even strokes, he did his best not to press too hard or too light. It would be a rough finish if he did otherwise. Making a katana in the real world was probably a long and strenuous task with a lot of delicate procedures and care taken to it, with something like the blacksmith's pride and heart put in it. He only had this virtual world and time constrictions to work with, so it wasn't exactly what he could call a lifestyle like they would. Still, he did what he could. Finishing one side, he moved on to the other. He made sure to grind out one side as the sharp edge and de-bur the back of the blade which would be flat. Having a flat side of the blade that cuts you isn't particularly good for your reputation, be it the swordsman on the blacksmith. Finishing there, he looked over the finish. It was shining, and had the hint of black in it he loved. Maybe it would be dyed black after tempering it.
Now for the long part. Putting the blade back into the furnace on a lower heat, he left it going for a while as he cleaned up the workbench and anvil, cleaning them all off and making sure all the tools were still in good condition. After taking his time, he checked to furnace to find the blade suitably tempered and got the quencher ready. Pulling it out and quenching it straight away, he was taken aback as the oil caught fire for the first time. That was supposedly a problem with low quality oils. Repeating this for another three times, he made sure it was done to a fine standard of tempering, and looked over his work. A fine black katana. And his customer missing. Well, he could still use it for himself. On to the next item.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Next item to make was a level 15 Iron Chain. His 'only-for-aesthetics' chain he currently wore should become real. It could be useful in real battle too. For combat in his plate armor, he could have one on each wrist and one on each side of the hip maybe? Or possibly on the back would be better. As for out of armor, one on his right hip for decoration and the other three would be linked together on his arm. He preferred the one sword style. His choice of Swashbuckler was because of the speed, otherwise he would have picked bard for the music. Had his brother not chosen it, that is. With his customer gone, he had bought the materials himself so it was only fair all the items go to himself. That was quite the odd customer though, mistaking a simple question of what services they required of him. Wait, services? Himself? Oh~ that's what they thought. Well, what's done is done. On to making those Iron Chains. One would do for now. About 2ft in length, if he remembered correctly.
His knowledge on chains was even more limited than his knowledge of sword smithing and armor forging. Speaking of which, he still needed to upgrade his armor. He was still on the beginner stuff at his level, and the faults are starting to show in combat. Putting the two flawed metals on the workbench followed by the large container of quenching oil, he examined it for a while. There wasn't exactly a guide to doing this. Getting straight to it, he got the furnace heated up and put the two metal slabs into the flames. Though the method may not be the same as real life, the end result should still be the same, right? His plan was to roll them out into long strips first and then begin slicing them into separate evenly lengthened chunks. By doing that, he should be able to then make the first link and attach a single link at a time in the chain. Avoiding joining the two slabs would make it easier to stick in the furnace.
To start with, he had no idea how to roll the metal into a rod. For now, he would just do what he thought right. Trial and error. Hopefully the end result would be good enough to be called an accessory. Getting the slabs to a good heat, Pwyll pulled them out and put them on the anvil, hammering them down, alternating between the two and turning them onto the other sides as he went. His hope was to keep the two slabs evenly spread and stretch the metal out while thinning it down to a square pole. From there, he would be able to round it easier. At least, that was his intention. It was a lot harder than he thought it was to keep them both even, but it felt like the game system was keeping it balanced for him. Thank Elder for that.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
As the heat of the metal lowered, the now rectangular blocks were becoming harder to hammer. It was time to throw them back in the furnace. Using two metal tongs, he picked up both blocks and slid them into the furnace, closing it up so the heat wouldn't escape. It was getting hot enough anyway. Looking up at the sky, it was moving on into the afternoon as the clouds were setting in, illuminated by the setting sun. It would probably get cold, but he would be fine. Being around this hot blacksmith workshop was good enough. The People of the Land at nearby stalls were sticking around. One of them was looking at him. Bowing towards him, Pwyll smiled to him and received a smile back. He was one of the sellers who supplied the miscellaneous pieces to finish off crafts, such as the hilts and straps needed to put stuff together. The landers were so nice and understanding. He had respect for them. There were still a few other adventurers working away along the path, so he wasn't alone.
Pulling the two blocks out, he started hammering away again. This time he had a faint idea on how to go about this using his previous experience. Keeping a steady rhythm to his breathing, he struck twice per breath, one to each block, rotating them both every three strikes. His hits were hard enough to spread the metal well but it would still be a while since he had to deal with two pieces instead of one like with the swords. And these would only need some light work with the sander to take off the crusty black parts. The tempering wouldn't create it, but it may need a polish after quenching, and then let it be stained black. Black was his theme, after all. Losing their heat, he stopped and put them back in the furnace one last time. They were pretty much stretched out now and done to a square like shape. All he had to do now was make it rounded, create incisions, heat treat them, quench, split and them throw into the furnace to bend them into links. Following that would be to temper and quench a final time.
Pulling the iron rods out of the furnace, he placed them on the anvil and got straight in to hammering them into a spherical shape using a different hammer with a concave head, hoping it would round the metal without damaging the anvil. It was only a slight concave, but enough to cause a roundness in the metal it hit. Keeping a keen eye on both the rods, he kept alternating and did his best to keep them balanced. After some time, he finally finished before the metal cooled too much. Grabbing a chisel like tool, he placed it on the rod and hammered a small line into it, evenly spaced from each other and on both poles. This would serve as the point where he could snap them in half later.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Looking over his work thus far, Pwyll assessed his next course of action. He currently had two metal rods with incisions at even intervals. Next would be to either heat treat them both to give them hardness and then throw back in the furnace to make them easier to bend. Bend them into links and connect them, heat treat once more and quench. But would that work? Only one way to know. Putting the two rods into the secondary furnace which was burning at a lower heat, he began treating them. Essentially, this would loosen the grain flow of the metal, and cause it to be rather brittle as it cools naturally, which isn't good. That was why quenching was used. It rapidly cooled the metal and made it harden, increasing its durability. Taking it out, he placed it on the anvil and used the chisel from earlier to hammer the incisions, causing them to snap cleanly without causing structure problems for the rest of it. If his metallurgy knowledge was accurate, this would all be true.
With the metal all in pieces, he placed them all in the furnace. Since there were so many, he would have to make one link at a time. Heat them high enough to bend, bend and stick together the first link, and let it cool. Add the second and link it inside the previous link, repeat. It sounded like it would work. As the metal pieces reached an adequate temperature, Pwyll pulled out the first one and used the tongs to hold it on the anvil while he used a smaller hammer with a rounded head. This way, he could hit the metal while it was lifted slightly off the anvil on one side and not leave a sharp dent in it. Being careful, he struck the metal and bent it until both ends were facing the same way but slightly inwards. From here, he just had to strike the two ends together until the eventually met and struck together. They would meld during the tempering anyway. The second link would be hooked onto the first before sealing it, and so he repeated this process.
After all the links were together, Pwyll breathed out heavily. Sticking the now two foot long chain into the secondary furnace, the tempering furnace, he let it slowly heat to let the grain flow meld and the links stick. Since he didn't hit the individual links into each other, they shouldn't stick to each other, not at the heat they were on. Moving outside of the forge, he took in a deep breath of cool air. The sky was getting darker, but the cold air was nice. After enough time had passed, he got back over to the chains and picked them out with two pairs of tongs, lowering them slowly into the quencher on the ground. Now that they were done, he used his heat resistant blacksmith gloves to grab each link and jiggle it around to make sure they didn't stick. Like that, they were done.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
Final task for the day. To forge his white Plate Armor, which will be the opposite of his black weaponry. His chains had come out grey, so it was in the middle. Taking a break before doing the armor, he sat down in a chair and pulled some chef sub class crafted food and drink. He had been working endlessly for the last four hours, at least. The sky above had gotten dark, and the air outside cold. His own area was warm, thankfully. With the furnace still burning, the glow from it illuminated the workspace so that he could continue working through the night. Taking a bite of his burger, he chewed it slowly, savoring the flavor. Swallowing, he picked up his bottle which contained a liquid similar to ice tea, peach flavor. Come to think of it, he hadn't eaten lunch either. Usually his brother would remind him. He hadn't seen him in quite some time since the game started and they went different ways. Finishing his first burger, he pulled out another, still feeling hungry.
His feminine features had disappeared as he was covered in black dust from the heat and coal fumes. But the soft expression in his cheeks remained at least. Taking the first bite into the second burger, he heard footsteps as a few People of the Land approached the workshop. With a few introductions, it turned out that they were the Landers that supplied the blacksmiths on the road, and couldn't help but be amazed by both his concentration and dedication to his work. They wanted to observe him, while at the same time getting away from the cold. They had already packed up for the day, so it was pretty much just them now. The four of them sat down for a while, talking while next to the heat of the furnace. With a few chuckles and stories exchanged, Pwyll felt at ease, like he was back in the real world, talking with friends. Feeling a bit cold now, he looked at the furnace to see the flames dying down. Finishing his dinner, he bowed out of politeness to the Landers and got to work.
Heading over to the furnace, he chucked the next load of coal in and got the fires roaring again, feeling that heatwave spread across his body. It was refreshing, but a reminder that he was here for business. This was one he would have trouble with. He would be making a full plate armor from head to toe, so that was a large chunk of metal to split up and divide into separate bits. Not only that, he had no idea how he was going to shape it! There were some rounded metal dummy stands, which he guessed was a fitter for armor and for use in making the shape. For what he was planning to make, it would be quite flashy on the outside, and so would be rather difficult to make. Throwing the slab into the furnace, he watched it begin to heat up.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
With the slab heated thoroughly, Pwyll took it out and brought it over to the anvil. For now, he would need to flatten the entire thing. From the metal sheet, he would be able to cut it into parts by using incisions and then start forming the different parts of the plate armor. This would probably take him several hours, maybe until morning. At least he had company for the duration, for the meantime anyway. Flattening it out as quick as he could, Pwyll did what was possible before the metal cooled. He had a lot to get through so the quicker he went, the easier it would be on him in later stages. Hammering away, the metal cooled down eventually and he had to re-heat it. It took a few more times to get it to a good flatness and nice spread while still being thick enough to be plate armor. Looking at it as it was now, he used a marking tool to get some rough incision lines to check if he has the right dimensions for all the pieces.
Satisfied with his lines, he used the chisel to break the metal at those lines and create enough pieces for him to forge the rest of his armor. To start with, he took the largest chunk and heated that up again. This would be his chest piece. Flaring it up in the furnace, he took it out when it was ready and placed it on top of the dummy post which had a round top of metal and began hammering away. It took a few tries before he figured out how he should be hitting it, and eventually he got it in a rhythm where he could shape it nicely, reheating as needed. He followed this up with the helmet, using a smaller dummy to put it on, and getting the decor working as he did with the chest plate. The next was the arms, then the forearms, then the legs, until he got to the fingers and feet which required the most smallest of pieces to fit together to provide great protection without limiting movement.
Putting the other pieces in the heat treating furnace, he let them sit in there while he used small hammers to form different metal parts that would fit together and avoid obstructing the joints. To make sure they all attached later, he punched some holes in them using a puncher. This would be the connecting point where the rivets would go through to gold the pieces together. The end result would be a headpiece, a chest plate, arm pieces from the shoulder to the forearm, joining at the elbow, leggings which were attached at the knees and gauntlets attached to a glove for better fitting. The feet would be boots, the metal attached to some strong leather boots to make plate boots. Placing the boot pieces and glove pieces in the heat treating furnace, he took out the other parts and put them into the quencher.

It's every shameful fall, every mistake that I've made
With the larger pieces now in the quencher, Pwyll took a deep breath. How much time had passed? Instead of getting distracted on that, he continued with his work. Pulling the large pieces out of the quencher, he drained as much oil from them back into the bath before using a cloth to wipe them down and check for deformities in each piece, as well as find if there was anything he needed to fix. It looked alright. Now he had to polish it good and then give it a white color somehow. Starting with the chest piece, he sat down on a chair and began buffing the armor, getting off any flakes and polishing it up. He needed to do the insides of each piece as well, so by the time he was done, the small pieces would be ready, and then he could finish by stringing it all together on the armor rack. Moving on to and finishing the other pieces, he placed them on the workbench for now so he could stain them all together.
Grabbing the gloves and boots from the heat treating furnace, he placed them straight into the quenching bath, waiting for it to stop sizzling so he knew they had been cooled adequately. When the bubbling stopped, he picked the pieces up and shook the oil out above the bath. Grabbing the same rag from earlier, he cleaned up each piece and started polishing them. These ones didn't take too long, but they were rather small so it was a bit harder to polish them up fully. Laying it down on the bench, he could see it was all ready. Now to stain them. Using the chemical staining materials, he gave his armor a clean white look to them. Now he had the strenuous task of piecing everything together. Hammering rivets into pieces, attaching pieces to cloth and leather armor to hold it together, adding straps where they needed to be, especially as a fastener, and then putting it all together on the armor rack. It looked amazing. After a quick fitting, he felt satisfied that it was complete.
Turning around to some clapping, he saw the People of the Land still sitting in their seats, observing him. Feeling bashful, he scratched the back of his head. He was done. After compliments were exchanged, the left his armor on the rack and went back over the Landers, conversing with them while having a casual drink after some hard work. He was tired, but he could sleep later. This was a nice way to end, under the night sky. There was still more work to do, but he needed a break. A break he felt he deserved.
