In response to this, she now applies a light pinkish orange permanent dye which gives it that fading pink look, darker near the tips and then white at the roots. Her hair is shoulder blade length all around and usually tied by the shoulder and slung over the front, or left flowing with a couple of hair clips. She has fair white, smooth, soft skin which feels similar to the touch of baby skin and a petite build which is both slender and fragile looking. Tends to wear black themed clothes, wearing black thigh highs whenever wearing a skirt and never short sleeves or exposing much skin at all. On both her legs close to the ankles are scars. These were caused by shackles which left ring marks. A few other scars are from her own nails scratching at the place where the shackles were. There's similar marks on both wrists and her neck with some scratches to match. She has two large scars across her back from when she was whipped, leaving two diagonal marks from shoulders to hips, leaving a cross shape. Game appearance [click here] Chain stands at 5'3" (159cm) tall and weighing 95lb (43kg) with light purple/dark pink eyes and pure white hair. Has long flowing hair down to her knees with plaits made just behind the ear and ended with a red hair tie. The forelocks/fringe are only about nose length to chin length, if not a couple centimeters longer. Skin is the same as real life, to the point of looking like a doll. Her skin is without any marks or scars. Tends to wear frilly, cute dresses in a white goth sort of fashion with blue as a complimentary color. Not very practical but Angel has her reasons for appearing as such. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Angel is currently in a state of memory loss, as well as having lost some of her mental functions. She's forgotten how to speak, how to act, how to do a lot of things. She has no recollection of her past and has no idea how to access her player screen, nor does she plan to. You could say she's now got a clean slate with a self learning program in her to make up for what she's lost. She can understand languages she knows just fine and process them in her head, but cannot speak them unless taught to. She is highly likely to imitate the actions of others and copy them like a mirror until told what to do. Still, she has that brain power from before and if told to memorize something, such as someone's skill list, she will probably be able to recite the entire thing back. In contrast, she will have to take syllable by syllable in order to even say a word or a sentence. She is much more emotive and expressive like this, being pure and innocent to the point she doesn't realize if something is bad or not unless told so. Can be easily influenced at this stage of her learning. One thing that Angel retained is her muscle memory. Her body still remembers what she has been through in life, so she remembers how to fight as well as the pain she has endured. When she enters into combat mode, she will lack any emotion or expression and begin expertly engaging in battle with whatever her opponent with complete disregard for her class or teammates for that matter. If they get in her way, she will cut them down too. This is something she will have to be taught to avoid, even if it takes longer. The moment she stops fighting, she will return back to her expressive self. Likewise, she still remembers the emotions she feels when exposed to her traumas and fears, not knowing what will happen since she doesn't know how to deal with it now. Best to stay out of her way when fighting with or against her, and avoid exposing her to her fears. Angel, before the apocalypse, was a silent girl who had a hard time expressing herself or conveying emotions. She would be standoffish in conversations and groups, going with the flow as long as she agreed with it and sticking by her friends. She would show a light smile when happy, enough that you would notice if looking at her, but she doesn't show it often. She talks only as much as she needed since she found it hard to say what she wanted to say. The combination of these gave her a transparency at first which eventually turned her into a mysterious girl. She is quite self conscious of her appearance and can't stand wearing something which exposes too much skin, afraid that her scars would show. She also avoids bathing with others for the same reason. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]READERS DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Innocents be warned. Angel's father was born in Europe to parents of different nationalities. He grew up to be a linguist with a bit of a twisted personality due to his exposure to some underworld dealings as a translator at a young age. He was quickly employed by an underworld leader for a few years after he turned sixteen and earned enough money to leave his parents and start traveling so he could learn more languages. Angel's mother was a rising star in martial arts and weaponry, undergoing harsh training from her parents who were the owners of a dojo. It wasn't odd for her to get beatings. When she reached 18 and was proficient in many types of weaponry as well as basic martial arts, she got her first job as a bodyguard for a translator doing a less than legal job, but it was dealing between a company and their 'investment', so it had to be done. Needless to say, things got hot and steamy between her and the translator and they ended up together. The mother's lineage was part European, part Japanese. After a couple of years, their love child came out. Having both been working on the shadow side of the coin, they had earned quite a bit of money. To settle down until their child was independent, they bought a house out in the country where they lived happily. At least in their opinion. There was a lot of suffering in store for Angel as she grew up. She was late in speaking because her father would always be talking to her in a different language each day, and then her mother was strict, forcing her to have proper manners, study to the second, and sleep when told to sleep. Everything she did was under scrutiny, the punishment being something physical like a slap. Of course, she would cry when slapped as a child would, so she was slapped again for crying. When she was old enough, the home studying increased and she was indoctrinated into the use of weaponry. She never really left the vicinity of the house sine her parents would work during the day doing who knows what, and then come back only to scold her for something she probably wasn't told to do. It was decided she would go to school when she was 13. Until then, her parents beat everything into her. Knowledge, languages, marital arts, weaponry, even house chores and cooking. It was like her parents were experimenting with her on what you can teach and do to a child. Sure, she learned many things, but nothing that she could say she would be happy about. And then, her rebellious stage came early. Around the age of 12, her pent up frustration from being bombarded with what to do and what not to do's were finally released, along with her first sign of maturity. Good? No. She got blood on the floor and kicked up a fit, and her parents decided then what they wanted to do to her. For an entire year, Angel was chained and shackled at the neck, wrists and ankles whenever she was told to do something or whenever she misbehaved. Almost the only time she wasn't shackled was when she was doing martial arts outside with her mother. Her attitude problem was fixed after a few months, but her lack of motivation and constant flinching made her a sandbag for her mother. No mercy, no respite. As this went on, her mind became warped. The only reason she could retain her idea of good and bad, just and unjust, was the history books she was forced to read while chained at the desk. If she didn't finish her meal, her head would be shoved onto the plate. Even with no appetite, she had to eat. When she finally got to school, all she could do was hide her scars and bruises. Her mother's job must have fallen through as well, because she was now home more often and constantly in a bad mood. After one night drinking before her father got back, Angel's mother pulled out a whip. Those two lashes on her back left a lifelong scar. Never once has she heard praise from her parents, but she can't even remember if they had spoken of their dislike of her. Her father wasn't as harsh, at least. The chain and shackles continued for a long time, and Angel's father got rid of the whip, so she was at least spared that. But things weren't that great in school. Her first year was alright, but her mysterious and standoffish personality, combined with her natural looks, caused the boys to adore her and the girls to loathe her. Her second year was spent isolated with only a few talking to her, and only one guy who was just as mysterious as she was. At one point in the year, one of the girls picked a fight with her because the guy she liked confessed to Angel. Although she rejected him, it didn't change the fact it happened. The aggressor was quickly put down since Angel was trained in combat, but with some of her frustrations leaking out, she went too far and broke the girl's arms. Only thanks to his parent's connections did they get out of it without charges pressed, but she was suspended for two weeks. However, it was only after a month and a half until she returned. He mother had beaten her senseless for using the martial arts, despite it being self defense, and then for going overboard. She had to wait for the bruises and bones to heal before returning to school. When she got back, everyone avoided her and talked behind her back. Only the mysterious boy ever acted as indifferent as usual. The year after, when Angel was fifteen during school, other students started to open up to her again. There were a couple of boys that were particularly standing out among the bunch that worked up the courage to speak to her, and she did her best to respond to them in a way that she wasn't getting close or rejecting them. In a months time, she was talking normally with the rest, even if she wasn't very expressive or showing emotion very well. And those two boys who stood out said something. They wanted to show her the view on the rooftop. Eventually convinced, she followed them to the rooftop after school. It happened to be that it needed a key so no one could get on the roof, but that wasn't the plan. They just wanted her on the top of the stairwell, and then pushed her down. Her body was resilient enough, so she didn't break anything but it hurt a lot. If anything, it was her mental health that had dropped. And then, laying at the bottom of the stairs, about to get up, it was the girl whose arms she broke, and three of her female friends. Dragging Angel by the hair, she was taken back up the stairs where the boys were grinning, probably promised to have their way with her as part of a deal. Despite her struggles, Angel had no way of getting out of the grip of one guy and three girls while the injured one stood back and watched with an evil grin. Being pinned to the ground and gagged, Angel thought it all over as one of the guys got into position. For the first time since she was a child, she shed tears. Time slowed down as he got closer and closer with that body of his, closer to her own. It was unbearable being unable to do anything. The shackle marks felt like they were burning, weighing her down as if chained to the floor. Was this all she was? A tool? The last thing she could call her own was about to be stolen. Unable to close her eyes, that slow scene in front of her changed as a fist hit the guy who was staring at her lustfully. And then she felt the shackles on her being removed as her body floated up- no, lifted up. That mysterious student who always treated her the same had saved her. The relief she had. And the pain in her heart. She was sick of it all. Why should she go through it? Being walked home, she never mentioned the incident to her parents. She took her punishments wordlessly, without complaining, just absorbing all the blows from training. When it came time for bed and she was left alone, she used her compass needle from her maths set to end it all, striking under the shackles that held her to the bed. 「Serves you right... shitty bastards...」 As she passed out, her father found her before it was too late. He was intending to ask her what was wrong today, the first fatherly thing he would have done, but he was too late. Angel woke up in a clinic a day later. Her parents weren't there and instead there was some stranger who reeked of alcohol. Apparently it was her uncle. Her parents were forbidden from getting close to her due to claims of child neglect and child abuse after they discovered the cuts, bruises, scars and shackle marks when they changed her clothes. So instead she was shifted off like a used tool for her uncle to handle. At first, it was awkward and hard to be around him, but he was nicer when he was sober. He got drunk to swallow his sadness and suffering, one thing she ended up doing one of the nights. She was transferred to another school so things weren't so bad, but her memories wouldn't fade. She didn't like the taste of alcohol so she stopped after the one night. Though, it appears she has a high tolerance. Maybe that food she was fed was laced with something that built up her resistance to stuff? Probably a side effect of the training, or food eaten to enhance recovery from training. She got along well enough with her uncle, but they rarely spoke since he was gone most the day and would come back late, usually just to go to bed. She enjoyed being alone. And then her uncle got her a present. As far as her memories would permit, this was the first time she had gotten a present. That was a computer for gaming, with games installed on it. She instantly loved them and spent all her free time playing games. She still studied and practiced her martial arts since it was beaten into her, but she had something to look forward to now. Moving on in life, Angel continued to play games as her refuge. Playing online games more often, she felt she was slowly pulling out of her shell and the praise she received from others made her happy. To know something she did was worthy of praise was enough to bring her to tears, if they weren't already dried up. Doing something and getting praised for it. And then she came across Elder Tale. She had heard of it from other players in other games who were looking forward to it, and she was hyped to get to play it as well. Getting to the character creation, she decided to make something that was meaningful to her. A pure white appearance with complimentary blue to contrast the black she resorts to wearing now. Class a Bard because she had been shown how to play by her uncle, a professional musician, with the crafting class of woodcrafter. She wanted to make her own house. Oh, how she wanted to live alone in isolation. And then the last one she had no idea, so she picked hitman since it seemed interesting. The scythe? It was a unique weapon, and she got the chance to practice with it before. Chain was her screen name. A reminder of what she had been through, and hopefully something she could break eventually. Constantly wearing a scarf, long sleeves, thigh highs or pants and never getting to express herself, always in black. This character would be the embodiment of who she wanted to be. And now, she was exactly that. The Apocalypse. Waking up in the apocalypse, Angel had no idea what to think. She was confused, but more than that, she was afraid. In a place she didn't know, surrounded by people with weapons. And a lot of them. She was overwhelmed. So much so that she never got a chance to check out her menu or anything. As people got up, a bunch of them approached her because of her looks and saw her terrified face. They began asking if she was alright, and it was confusing, and suffocating. And they were all men getting too close for comfort. They were speaking English, but Angel couldn't process them since her mind has retreated to her own language which she constantly used back in the real world. Unable to bare it anymore, she ran off into the fields to escape the noise and people. Most of the players ignored her, but a few of the more kinder ones followed her. And that only increased her fear. The trauma of being chased and trapped by guys. When she came to a dead end inside the forestry of the greatwoods, her mind snapped. Pulling out her scythe and holding back the tears which wanted to flow, she got lost in her bloodlust and carnage, attacking the three male players who tried to protect themselves. Being experienced in combat in real life, she made quick work of the inexperienced and unprepared males, cutting them down one by one. The last one was still trying to help her, even as her purple eyes released a cold gaze at him, slicing him up. And then her mind could take no more strain. Eighteen years of abuse and mental trauma flowing into her head. Her brain panicked and tried to find the best thing to do. The few things it worked off were "When were you happiest?", "Who do you want to be when you grow up?" and "What calms you down the most?". The answers were when she was a baby, the avatar she was playing now, and releasing her frustrations. The result of this was Angel returning to an infantile state of mind with a more positive and innocent look with a freedom of expression, but still retaining those muscle memories and slight wickedness of cutting down her opponent, beating up the bully, exacting revenge, releasing pent up frustration. She still had all her basic motor functions and could do everything, but her mind had forgotten how to speak, how to act, everything. Memories lost, all she had was her fighting and the idea that shoving something in your mouth, chewing and swallowing. And this is where the story starts. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"]Can speak English, French, German, Russian, Latin, Japanese, Swedish, Chinese and Spanish. However, she can only read English and Japanese. She dislikes speaking any language other than English. She has no accent, so she can pronounce each language professionally. At least knows how to add an accent, but usually speaks in a slight Japanese accent and British sometimes, but her voice lacks emotion at times. Having grown up with a linguistic father, Angel was constantly hearing different languages since birth and has since made her own personal language that she speaks to herself. It combines all of her spoken languages words, shuffles parts of words around, and then is spoken. She made up a phonetic alphabet while she was forced to study, so its a language known only to her. The alphabet consists of collections of lines, dots and wavy lines. The full name Angel was given derives names from different languages. Her father liked to experiment. It was partly meant as a joke to the government, but he was shocked and amazed when the birth certificate arrived. Caro Kwan Yates Musil Amaterasu Blau Lindström Caro meaning "Beloved" in Italian and Spanish. Kwan meaning "Mountain" in Korean. Yates meaning "Keeper of the Gate" or "Gate Keeper" in Welsh. Musil meaning "The one who had to" ("Must") in Polish. Amaterasu (天照) means "Shining Over Heaven" from 天 (Heaven, Sky) and 照 (Shine). Amaterasu is the name of the Sun Goddess in Japanese Mythology, the Ruler of the Heavens. Blau meaning "Blue" in German. Lindström meaning "Linden Stream" from Lind (Lime) Tree and Stream, in Swedish. Full name when read by their meanings is: Beloved Mountain Keeper of the Gate who had to Shine over Heaven's blue Linden Stream. Angel was at least allowed to pick two of those as her name later in life, so she changed it to "Amaterasu Musil". Amaterasu Musil, when put in Japanese last name, first name order, reads as "The one who had to Shine over Heaven". Goes by the name "Angel" in real life to have an English name which relates to her given name. Chain (鎖) (Kusari) was chosen because Angel was reflecting how she felt, and links in with her chosen avatar appearance. She was originally going to name herself Kusari, but it felt too obscure for her. The white haired girl with a frilly white dress was Angel's way of becoming a pure, innocent girl who was allowed to dress fancy and wear cute things without being abused for it. Because of some scars on her body, she no longer wears skirts (without thigh high socks), shorts, short sleeves or shows her midriff in reality. Her player name, Chain, is used to describe her idealistic appearance of her game avatar. That person she wanted to be was chained down inside of her, not being allowed freedom. Terrified of chains and shackles to the point where she will start quivering and go weak in the knees the closer she is to them. Has only bad memories of studying at a desk and has a fear of studying, specifically if it's a subject she doesn't like. Afraid of whips. Remembers the pain they gave her, but can deal with it better than the shackles. Afraid of bisque dolls. They terrify her. There were a few in the cellar she use to be locked up in. always staring at her. Quick to lash out or collapse in terror if a guy gets too close or touches her. Because of how she was treated, Angel never saw the kindness her parents were trying to give her. She has forgotten what she has been given on her birthdays, for example, because the way it came across was more of a normal everyday beating, just wearing new gear or something. |

[attr="class","skill"]「Tongue Of Nature」 / Tier I - It's often said that certain people seem to have an affinity toward interacting with nature and communicating with animals. With this skill, the Adventurer's natural affinity is idealized into a tangible form. While this toggle skill is active, the character will be able to communicate with animals and monsters. Incoming speech by monsters will appear as subtitles at the bottom of the user's vision. There is a huge variance between being able to notice this effect and actually using it effectively, however. "Nice to meet you" is not the same thing as "Look, fresh meat", for example. At lower levels, the user of this skill will very often mishear monsters' speech and mispronounce their own words, mistakes that might cause hostility if used incorrectly. However, as the user gradually gains experience, they will be able to negotiate with monsters more easily. The Animal Trainer, Fisherman, Druid classes are more aligned with the power of nature and thus higher success rates are gained if the user is one or more of these classes. Monsters at a lower level compared to the user's highest class level also are easier to communicate with. Main Class - Bard Skills [attr="class","skill"]「Elegant Act」 / Tier I - Attack skill | An elegant attack that comes from a beautiful dance. As an attack it is average but upon use, it boosts the bard's evasion rate for a certain period of time so it is popular among front-line bards as it increases their survivability. One peculiarity about this skill is that the attack motions and dance are rather elaborate. When using a sword, it is like a sword dance, if a spear it will be used as a baton constantly twirling round and round at high speeds. There are different motions for every kind of weapon. The motions for the giant scythe would be to take the huge weapon and to spin it around like one would a pencil and is quite the sight to behold. The animation time of this skill is 1.5 seconds and its cooldown is 15 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]「Sonic Cutter」 / Tier I - The Bard amplifies sound waves to deliver a concentrated burst of destructive interference at a target. A cutting-wave projectile is shot forward, reaching up to 10 meters before dissipating. This skill is considered a wind-type attack and deals greater damage when used in close range. Additionally, if Resonance Beat was used immediately prior to this skill, its range increases by an additional 5 meters. Due to its low cooldown and moderate DPS capacity, it is a popular skill used by the rare solo Bard. This skill has a casting time of 1 second and a cooldown of 6 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]「Speed Sword Etude」 / Tier I - A lively song that makes one want to rush into battle. This tune causes all nearby party members' attack speeds to rise. This skill has a duration of 60 seconds and a cooldown time of 30 seconds. If it is used on a target that is currently affected by this buff, its duration resets to the full 60 second duration. [attr="class","skill"]「Ballad of the Gullible Snail」 / Tier I - A song that causes the very atmosphere itself to appear lethargic for the enemy. It generates a moderate amount of aggro on the Bard, so one must be careful on the timing of this skill. On use, a distorted spiral effect will appear around a target, affecting up to 10 enemies within 10 meters of the Bard. Affected enemies have their movement speed reduced by 50% and animation times increased by 1 second. This skill has a casting time of 3 seconds, a debuff duration of 30 seconds, and a cooldown of 45 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]「Scarlet Symphony」 / Tier I - The Bard plays a song as a menacing red mist starts to form around them. Then, after two seconds, the Bard's mana mixes with the aura to create blood-red blades that swirl around the Bard in a small circle of two feet in radius. Opponents struck by the skill suffer a bleeding damage over time debuff. This skill has a minimum casting time of 2 seconds. The cooldown of this skill is 15 seconds, and it applies as soon as the Bard stops playing their instrument. [attr="class","skill"]「Ambidexterity」 / Tier I - The mechanics of Elder Tale lightly discourage dual-wielding due to the reduced accuracy and proficiency with such a combat style. However, it remains a quite popular strategy among those who willingly sacrifice stability and defense for a little boost in DPS. It is such that Swashbucklers are primarily the class type that specializes in dual-wielding and thus has the most compatible skills for this purpose. The Ambidexterity skill passively lifts the dual-wielding penalty from equipping two one-handed weapons or two shields. This skill does nothing for a Swashbuckler, since they already possess a beginner skill which does the same purpose. [attr="class","skill"]「Spellwalk」 / Tier I - A toggle skill that allows a character to cast a spell without forcing them to remain immobile during the spell's casting duration. It is an excellent skill to take for those who prefer an on-the-go strategy or at least a less vulnerable position. When the character moves while casting a spell, their movement speed is halved. This speed penalty decreases to 40% at Level 30, 25% at Level 60, and 10% at Level 90. Sub Class - Hitman Skills [attr="class","skill"]「Bounty」 / Tier I - Passive skill. After a completed PvP thread, if the Hitman was victorious in battle, they gain an amount of gold equal to the amount that they acquired from their posts. The PvP thread is then locked after this bonus is applied. To apply this bonus, PvP fights cannot be solo threads versus NPCs. [attr="class","skill"]「Declare Bounty」 / Tier I - A hitman can designate one humanoid target as their bounty per thread. This target must be within the hitman's unobscured eyesight. They gain an accuracy, damage, and critical chance bonus when attacking their target. Every ten levels after obtaining this skill, they can designate one additional target per thread. Crafting Class - Woodcrafter Skills [attr="class","skill"]「Timber」 / Tier I - Toggle skill. Woodcrafters naturally have an affinity for chopping and carving wood, making their abilities key in harming monsters that happen to be arboreal in nature. Woodcrafters deal 20% more damage to Plant-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Plant-type monsters upon a successful hit. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] Vanity Clothing [attr="class","skill"]Lv. # 「No Name」: Not Equipped Armor [attr="class","skill"]Lv. 10 「Garment of Innocence」 | Cloth Armor | Link. An under-dress cloth armor with a simple design. Provides all the necessities of armor while being aesthetically pleasing. With no straps and surrounding the torso with a pure white cloth, the dress is frilled at the end and has a decorative red bow on the chest. Combines well with Vanity Clothing over the top. Appearance wise, not suitable for battle. There is a stylized F sewn on the inside to denote the crafter.
