{What Dio has to say}As you might know, the staff has been busy working on new things to help make things more enjoyable for our players here. We've just released the Lurking Depths Event featuring a new zone, the Londinium Underground. The underground is a labyrinth lost by the major races. It offers a large level range in which adventurers might choose to explore the unknowns with. The first stage of the event is exploration. Adventurers who explore into the underground will return back with relics of forgotten technologies. Each member of a party will return with some of the "new" discoveries and the knowledge of these discoveries will become public knowledge after a short time as they will have been reverse engineered by adventurers. The second phase will be coming soon. The second phase is going to be a GM'd event with signups, so stay tuned for when we release details on it.
- The beastiary has been updated for the Underground. Look for Goblins and Kobolds
We are wrapping up the Sarum storyline and are ready to move into the next chapter we have prepared for you all.
What you can look forward to next month-
A dangerous plague threatens the land.
Can this brave new technology control this rising terror?
The tale of corruption and purification begins.
Elder Tale, Chapter 3: Machination
It sure sounds a bit different, and we intend for it to be. We have a surprise however for everyone. Starting with Chapter 3 next month, we will be introducing 2 new classes for adventurers to choose from. The Heretic and the Warden. These classes are a departure from the traditional classes that you are used to here in Elder Tales and will both utilize new unique mechanics for their playstyles. Here is a quick peek at the 2 classes.
Heretic
A dark magic caster who utilizes skills such as hexes, curses and rituals to damage and debilitate their foes. They favor light armor and light weapons. They can be fragile, but can unleash devastating effects.
New equipment- Crystal Orb and Hex Dolls
Example Skills
Humoral Stigma: A vile curse is placed on a target that causes open wounds to continuously bleed. Target loses HP over time if they take any wounds and aren't healed.
Shackles of the Sentenced: Chains erupt from the ground, wrapping themselves around a target. These chains root the enemy in place for a short time.
Eye for an Eye: A spell that places a curse somewhere on the target's body and it appears as an eye-looking insignia. The user can see from that insignia as long as the target is within 100 meters. More obvious areas means it's easier to see, but also easy for the target to notice it. If the insignia is blocked, this skill doesn't do anything. The user must close one of their eyes to see anything from the insignia.
Warden
The Warden is a defender who utilizes some of the lost technology of the Alv as well as some personal ingenuity to damage their foes and protect their allies. They wear a special kind of armor and are a very versatile class, always with a trick up their sleeve.
New equipment- Warden armor and shields. Firearms
Example Skills
Polarizing Shield: The user Injects power into their shield via magitek circuits. The resulting buildup creates a minor repulsing field around the shield. This field will help to deflect and reduce the damage recieved by physical attacks for a short time.
Pistol Whip: Turn your favorite weapon into a bludegon and direct it at your foe. This will have a knockback effect against smaller foes and a slight daze effect against foes of your own size. It's best not to let them get into this range however.
Overcharged strike: Sometimes packing in a little more power is a little dangerous, but it sure is effective. The next 2 offensive abilities are considered to be overcharged, increasing their effect by 50%.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
Guild housing is getting a review. We are going to be looking at values and adjusting them down to make them more attainable.
The combat system and stats is being worked on. We are going to be adding more depth and planning for characters and combat for those that wish to use the system. It will be entirely optional.
New skills for existing classes. We are launching a new community effort for new skills for our existing classes. We will have a thread up with more details and you can submit your ideas to be added into the system. All current classes from Guardian to Summoner will be open for new skills. Please put any ideas you may have HERE
Even more new skills. We understand that it's not a lot of fun to start out at level 1 and only have a single skill. With the introduction of the new skills, we will be making life a little easier and more fun for new characters. All new characters in addition to the crafting and subclass skills, will be able to choose 3 primary class skills instead of the current 1 to start their adventure with. All currently existing characters will be granted selection for 2 free tier 1 abilities for their primary class.
We are going to have more contests for everyone to enjoy. The first is an art contest. We are looking for Icons to represent our new classes. Anyone who wishes to draw their concept of any of the 3 new classes may do so as well. Wait, did I say 3?
Another new contest is also being held for the creation of a 3rd, entirely new class that will be introduced. For all of you with bottled up ambitions and imaginations you can help shape the Unfounded Kingdom. The official thread for this contest will be coming soon. However here is what we are looking for in a new class. We ask for entries to be at least semi-serious and capable of fitting into the log horizon/fantasy setting.
Name- The class needs a name right?
Equipment- What kind of gear do they use? Armor, weapons? (everything is not an option)
Role- What is it that they do? Are they a healer, do they like to get smacked or help the party in other ways? How do they fit?
Lore- How did this class come to be? Version updates don't exist anymore so we need a reason to believe where the knowledge of this new profession came from. How do they fit in the world?
Skills- The meat of the class. We ask that you create 10-15 skills to give the class some flavor and ground to stand on. This is to establish the class
Balance- Everything comes at a price. You can't have a mage that heals as well as a cleric, wears plate armor and dual wields cannons. Think about why a class needs heavy armor and what it might have to sacrifice instead for it. No class can be exceptional at everything.
No contest is complete without rewards however. While the exact details of the prizes are still being determined, the first place entry for a new class will receive a Veteran Adventurer package. This will allow for the creation of a new and equipped character at an advanced level or the application of AP to an existing character. Similar prizes will be offered for runner ups. All complete entries will also be awarded a unique accessory. More details on all of this to come.
Well, I think thats enough of a status update for now. We're working to improve everything that we can here and still are going to be open to suggestions on how to make things better. For now however, please look forward to everything we have planned.
