Standing in the middle of what appears to be an old train station that the adventures call Saint Pancras Sation. Lavinia hears the rustle and bustle of people going to and fro, making deals with merchants and talking about anything imaginable. A cool breeze brushes against Lavinia's cheek and the sun warms her face. "What a nice day." Lavinia comments as she walks through the corridors of the marketplace. Not really having much in the way of money to spend Lavina window shops for most of the day. She'd wander from stall to stall checking out what people are selling, observing transactions and the haggling that goes on. She'd stop at a shop that sells grimoires and other magical equipment and day dream about having them before she'd get chased off by the shop owner. After wandering for a bit longer Lavinia comes across a shop where potions and other such items are made and sold. The interest of how such things are made got the better of her as she pushed open the door and stepped inside.
Inside the shop is a comfortable, clean smelling place that is well lit and gives the vibe of a place of medicine. Behind the counter is a older man, maybe in his early forties. The man welcomes Lavinia to his shop and asks if he can help her with anything "No thanks, just looking." she replies with her usual smilie. The man nodes an starts reading some sort of form in front of him. The shop has all kinds of potions, pills and tablets, some restore mana or health with varying levels of potency. Other items would grant effects like night vision, the amount of items surprised Lavinia "Did you make all these?" she asked the man. He nodes and replied "Want to see how?" a wide smile of excitement crosses Lavinia's face as she quickly followed the man to other room of his shop.

The back room of the shop was a sight to see for Lavinia. Various herbs hung drying on racks, many bottles of liquids of all colors sitting on shelves and at the end of the room a long workbench with equipment for making the various items sold in the shop. The man walks up to this workbench and takes a pestle and mortar and plucks a handful of herbs from a rack. "We'll try making a Medicinal Tablet. Now first you must grind up the herbs into a fine powder like this." he says as he carefully places them into the mortar and begins to grind them down. After a brief moment he hands Lavinia the mortar and pestle, who up until now has been observing intensely. "Keep going and I'll get the next step ready" he says as he reaches for bottles reading the label then placing them back on the shelf. Following instructions Lavinia begins to grind the herb down herself, grinding the herbs required more physical effort than Lavinia thought. Applying more force to the mortar Lavinia continued to grind the herbs until the man asked to see how she did. Inspecting her work carefully the man rubes the powder between his index finger and thumb "Not bad for your first time" he said with a satisfied grin. "So, what's next?" Lavinia asks excitedly ready for the next step, the man laughs as he places a bottle of clear liquid and a bowl in front of Lavinia on the bench. "This is a solvent, once ground up you put the powder in a bowl and pour this on top stirring every so often. For large batches you can skip grinding the herbs to a powder and just let them dissolve in the solvent. This way is just faster for making one or two at a time." the man commented and Lavinia nodded in understanding. She never thought it would have been this easy to make such a useful item. A short moment passes as the two quietly wait for the solvent to dissolve and per the mans instructions Lavinia stirs the mixture every few minutes. "That should be good enough" says the man as he takes a vial filled with a purple liquid off the shelf and a bottle of a cloudy blue liquid off another. "This is a binding agent." said the man tapping the top of the cloudy blue bottle. "It allows for the tablet to become hard enough to withstand being dropped and handled by the consumer, but still soft enough to chew if necessary. This next one." the man says placing his index finger on the vial of purple liquid. "This is flavor additive, the materials used to make these tablets aren't exactly pleasant to our sense of taste. So we include a flavor additive to fix that... Mostly." said the man. Lavinia looks at the bottle of flavoring "Is grape your favorite flavor?" she asks the man with a amused and happy grin on her face as she looks at the other vials of grape flavoring on the shelves. "Grape is a good flavor and yes it is. Okay, next we add them all together and mix until it becomes a semi solid ball." said the man handing Lavinia all the materials she needed. She poured the solvent mixture into a new bowl, added the binding agent and a few drops of flavoring. At first this new mixture was easily stirred but eventually it would have to be mixed by hand. "That is very good. You have a talent for this sort of thing. Next we take this over to the press." the man said as he leads Lavinia over to a corner of the room. The press machine is a recent invention by the adventurers. It uses a lever and gears to apply downward pressure on a metal plate that is attached to a die to form the tablets. "This machine will press what you have their into the final product, after it dries and we smooth out the edges of course." says the man. The man reached into the bowl and takes a pinch of the paste and presses it into the bottom portion of the die leaving a small bit above to fill in the top portion of the press. He then reaches up and pulls on the lever hard and keeps it held down for several seconds before raising it and popping the tablet out of the die. Holding the tablet towards Lavinia the man says "See this edge, we take this cloth and run the rough ends of the tablet across it until it becomes smooth." hanging tablet to Lavinia she takes it and buffs the edge smooth like the man said. "Very good." comments the man " Now try forming the rest" Lavinia nodes and takes pinches of the paste and puts them into the die. The man would correct her proportions when it was needed "How hard do I pull down on the lever?" Lavinia asked "As hard as you can." the man replied laughing a bit. Lavinia pulls down on the lever as hard as she can "Harder" says the man sternly. Putting her weight into it for several seconds "Good, let's see how they turned out." says the man as Lavinia releases the lever exhaling her breath. The man pops out a few of the tablets to examine them and they are satisfactory "Good job, the more pressure you can apply the beater." he examines as him and Lavinia begin to smoothen out the edges. "That was pretty easy." Lavinia said polishing the last one "You have talent I'm not surprised you found this easy." replies the man as someone enters the shop. "Why don't you make yourself a batch to take with you?" he said Lavinia nodded and the man left the room to tend to the customer.

Using the knowledge she gained from her first attempt, Lavina took a handful of the herbs from before and crushed them down like before. As she ground them down her thoughts drifted to her friends and the possible applications for the craft she kind of blindly choose when she created the character Lavinia. What shes making now, would be for healing their health pools. She doesn't know just how effective they'll be when used, but she hopes they'll at least help a little. She also wonders what other kind of things she could make as she finished grinding the herbs down into a fine powder. Setting the mortar on the bench in front of her and stands to retrieve the same solvent that she used earlier. Just like before she mixed the two and waited for the herbs to be adsorbed into the liquid. As she waited she spotted some books on a near by shelf, reading the spine the ones of interest were about herbs and another about potions and medicinal applications of herbs supposedly mentioned in the first book. Unknowing to Lavinia they were a series of books. Plucking the first book from the shelve Lavinia opens it to a random page and starts reading. She reads about herbs that when prepared correctly improve vision and where to find them. As she reads Lavinia looks up to make sure the bowl of solvent isn't ready yet while still mixing it every few minutes. When it's finally ready Lavinia puts the book down and gets a bottle of binding agent and a bottle of orange liquid flavoring off the shelf. Lavinia takes the cork from the bottle and smells it carefully. The sweet smell of citrus fruit fills her nose, it's so strong it gives her a chill. "This will work." she says adding the binding agent and then the flavoring to the mixture and mixes it carefully with a spoon at first then switched to her hand. Lavinia would mix with one hand while turning the pages with the other as she read. After a minute or two the mixture was ready to be pressed. This batch would make eight tablets, Lavinia attached the appropriate plate to the press and divided up the mixture into 8 equal blobs. Lavinia carefully placed each piece in its place and pulled down on the lever as hard as she could, even putting her body weight into it. After holding it pressed for several seconds she released the lever with a sigh and an idea popped into her head. "If this is about pressure, I bet I could get my golem to help with this. It's pretty heavy, I bet it would work great." she thinks as she takes each tablet from the press softening the edges then setting them off to the side. Unfortunately two of the tablets crumbled to dust as Lavinia took then from the press. "What a shame." she says as they crumble to dust. Now the tablets must dry, which suited Lavinia just fine, she wanted to read some more. Minutes pass by and before she knew it an hour has past and all she did was read the book in her hands. When the man came into the back again he startled Lavinia "Oh, your still here? I see." he chuckled as he saw Lavinia reading one of his books. Closing the book Lavinia apologized but the man interrupted her "How'd you do?" he asked inspecting her work. She explained that two didn't come our right so the man explained the importance of making sure it's all mixed correctly. Lavinia took note on this mistake and said she'd try and do better next time. "It's fine, you'll learn. You enjoy reading?" said the man asking about the books on the bench. Lavinia nodded "I do, I can finish a book in just a few days if I get ion it." she said to him font color="1979e6"]"Would you like to borrow them?" he asked with a warm smile, at first Lavinia objected, she didn't know if she'd ever be able to return them. She could be on the other side of this world tomorrow for all she knew, she lived her new life on a day to day basis. However the man insisted she take them, after all she did want to read them. "It's already getting late, I better get going. How much do I owe you for these?" she asked the man scooping up the tablets and holding them in her hand for a moment then she grabbed the two books placing them in her inventory. The man paused for a moment doing the math in his head "90 gold, I won't charge you for the two defective tablet. Don't object." he said cutting Lavinia's objection off before it even reached her lips. She just nodded smilingly at how quickly the man was already starting to know her she then took 120 gold pieces from her inventory and paid the man. font color="3869a2"]"Thank you, I'll repay you somehow." she said with a wide and grateful smile. The man just nodded as she left the shop, after the door shut the man chuckled "Adventures are so fascinating." he said as he places the gold in his pocket and returned to his work.
