Do you believe in ghosts? There was a strange crunching noise attached to the biting of an apple, but it was a satisfying one. Saber enjoyed that lovely sound probably a little more than he should have, but that was okay. He was a hungry man and bit into his apple happily. Shutting the noisy stomach of his up was something he wanted to do, and was willing to go to great lengths for. He was tired, hungry, and probably needed to sleep soon because of those reasons but his current home was a decent trip away from where he was. Munching away at the apple he had in his inventory was a good distractor and it was helping stave off his annoying gut. Though, he wished it would just shut up forever. Eating was good, but being forced to do it was sometimes tedious.
For now, he dealt with having to listen to the orders of his internals and continued to eat things when asked too. Along with that, he made sure to always keep his eyes open for good eats wherever he went. There wasn’t much too really eat where he was however and he knew that, so he didn’t waste his time searching, but there was plenty of food in London. Using the little amount of food he kept on his person, Saber paced his eating and coerced his impatient stomach to wait a little longer until he could actually fill it up. It was a long way back, and Saber wasn’t in a rush. Though, he really hoped he wouldn’t come across anyone obnoxious on his way back. He was feeling quite cranky and the fact that he didn’t eat a good breakfast probably added to it.
Too say the least, Saber wasn’t in the greatest of moods. With his left hand placed lazily on his left sword’s hilt, the Assassin was ready to slay any creature which dared interrupt his path back to London. He wanted to get back to his Inn as quickly and easily as possible, and he wasn’t going to let anything get in his way. However, knowing his luck, Saber knew there was going to be some sort of speed bump along the way. Due to this, he kept himself mentally prepared for war. Whether that war was against an annoying monster or a bothersome player, he didn’t care. Saber simply wanted to eat his apple, munch on the other fruits he had stowed away, and return to London. There, he could eat his fill and sleep the rest of the day away.
However along with that longing for sleep and food, Saber also longed just for the day to be over with. He had been up for a decent amount of time and had not slept the previous night because of a personal quest he had taken. With several goods and trophies in tow, he didn’t want to waste any time getting his items into the right hands and more money in his pockets. Sure, he hardly if ever used those golden and silver coins but just having a sack full was a good feeling. Having that feeling contested always made the long day even longer, and Saber hated extremely long days. He had experienced several long, unending nights during his time away from London and this one just needed to stop. The sooner he could shut his eyes, the better.

Back in the Savill flower groves, Ame, better known as KittyGrey in the MMO Elder Tale, found herself once again enjoying the sun as she laid down in her usual spot. She always sat in the middle of the yellow flowered field, letting the sun hit her as she rested. Her mind was racing with thoughts of her new life here and she never stopped thinking of it. She loved it. She was a different person in this new world, compared to her normal, introverted other self. Yup, she was a shut in back in Japan, but here, she had many friends and chose to be more extroverted than anything else. She had promised herself that she would try to be like she was here, if she ever returned back to her home. She would even cut the long bangs she had to cover her face. She had yet to meet a person she didn't like, or one that scared her, little did she know, today would be the day that she battled for something more than just her class level.
The day had started off like any other. She woke, she ate, she said goodbye to her landlord, a sweet elderly Lady, and headed off to rest. She hadn't bet on fighting today, as she normally would, instead, she wanted to take some time to relax. The sun was barely up in the sky when she arrived at the Grove and she hummed happily as she sat in her usual spot, staring at the flowers with a glowing face. She looked around, not seeing any of the young boar's grazing like usual, and she found that strange, but she really didn't let it bother her, but she had sometimes liked to watch them. She thought they were so cute. Only once had they attempted to attack her, but that was why she liked that spot, because around the flowers was long enough grass that they couldn't easily make their way through, a friend of her's had taught her that. She had so many things to be grateful for and she let those thoughts race through her mind. She thought about her upcoming adventure with her new friends and wondered if they would be able to make it through it. She had been sent into Londinium's underground with a group of four others, and it had been such fun, but now came the hardest part. She felt bad that she wouldn't be riding with the original people she had went down with, but she wanted to have her, hopefully soon, guild mates along with her. They were a team after all, and they seemingly worked well together. She blushed as she thought about them, well, about a certain one of them anyways.
That was when she let her back hit the ground. She smiled as she closed her eyes, her hands stretched above her head and her tail swaying gently to the side of her. It, too, was as happy as could be. She found herself laying in that spot for what seemed like hours, but when she felt her breathing become heavy, she sat up. "This is no time for sleeping Ame." She had done enough of that last night. She found herself crashing as soon as she had let her head hit the pillow, and the sun had still been in the sky. She let out a soft sigh and looked up at the sky. She felt like everything was perfect. She sat like that for another few moments, but soon found herself getting off the ground. She figured it would be time to head home, she was beginning to feel hungry and wanted to stop by the market before she returned home. As she walked, however, she came across a young man. Her eyes wandered to him, and for some reason she felt a chill down her spine. Her tail tucked it's self between her thighs and hugged the left one tightly. She felt as though she should be cautious and if she had another way back into the city, she would have taken it, but no, she just had to pass the man. She fell silent as she walked slowly, coming up to him. Her mind was telling her to run, but she couldn't understand it and her ears began to hang low. 'Why do I feel really scared all of a sudden?' She remained silent, trying her best not to be noticed as she paced slowly past him, wanting to turn around so that her back wasn't to him, but she didn't want to show fear, her tail and ears were already doing enough of that.

Do you believe in ghosts? As Saber’s teeth dug into the apple once more, he absentmindedly tore into the core of the fruit. It came as a bit of a surprise to feel his almost unstoppable pieces of bone knock against something hard, but it didn’t really matter too much. Saber growled to himself, and then twisted the apple aggressively to get the chunk of fruity flesh that he wanted, separated from the main piece. It came off with a loud snap, followed by a dozen juicy crunches and munches as Saber turned the hard chunk into mush so he wouldn’t die by choking. As annoyed as he was, eating the apple was quite refreshing and entertaining. It was better than walking silently without anything to kill, and it was much better than listening to himself starve to death. The noise the apple made reminded him of his blades stabbing into various creatures as well as the sound of him breaking armor apart. Oddly enough, the violent sounds soothed him. Wait, did that mean he was becoming used to it…?
That wasn’t good. Saber had told himself in the beginning that he wouldn’t grow comfortable with killing things, but would do it only for the means of survival. The fact that he was now eating the fruit and comparing it to the sound of, essentially, the mutilation of natural creatures, was not good. Not at all. It made him feel like a horrible person inside and he frowned at the thought of being such a rotted person. However, was it justified? Could it be justified? Or was Saber just making excuses? Survival in the world he lived in was simple; be stronger, faster, and better than one’s opponent. Unlike in the real world, one accomplished that by level, not intelligence or college degree. So could Saber really say that going on his rampages was all for survival? It helped his level, increased his skill, and boosted him up to a place where almost nothing could touch him (Well, that was until he left London).
“Nope.” The decline of the offer came swift, and Saber chucked the remainder of the apple he held into the forest around him. He didn’t care where it went, but it needed to disappear. Afterwards, he pulled his scarf back over the lower half of his face and masked himself once again. Though, that too made him a little uncomfortable.
In reality, Saber had never tried to cover up his face unless he was doing something illegal, and that was rare. With that in mind, the first thing that the Assassin did in Log Horizon was mask himself. Maybe he had been wrong all along? With the ability to hide his face, Saber didn’t have to care about what others thought of him. He didn’t have to worry about their cold stares, their questioning whispers, or their hurtful rumors. He didn’t have to care about anyone coming up and attacking him because they wouldn’t know who it was that was beheading them. He also never needed to worry about how others viewed him in general. Whether he was seen as a killer, a thief, an outcast, or just an unlikeable person in general; it didn’t matter… all because of the scarf he liked to use to keep warm.
“We both know why…” Don’t you talk to me while I’m berating you.
“Berating? My mother makes better verbal assaults.” Well, I made your mother. Come at me fgt.
“Later. Eyes on.” Oh…?
As Saber tucked his cloak around his body, pulling it closed from the inside, his eyes feel upon an interesting sight. It immediately made his blood boil, for some odd reason. Hunger? Or maybe it was the pretty face. A sly smile crossed the man’s face beneath his scarf and his eyes quickly scanned the new face which had appeared. It was a female player, short, young, and quite pretty to say the least. She seemed pretty defenseless from a first glance and that usually meant that a person was, at least in this game it was. Though, Saber began to question himself as he stared at her from afar. Why was she so far out? And if she was this far, where was her party? Very few players who had a brain traveled alone to the surrounding zone because of the monsters and bosses which lurked nearby. It was none of Saber’s business, but he felt concerned for her general well-being, sort of.
With the distance between the two closing, Saber realized that she was going to walk right passed him. That was perfect, but how would he handle it? Should her point a sword at her throat? Brush the edge of his knife against her neck? Or maybe just yell at her? He didn’t know, nor did he care. Saber had questions and he would like answers. Though, he wouldn’t deal with any dilly-dallying. He wanted to sleep, and he wanted food. Unless this woman could provide both, her life was nothing to him… but that reminded him; the warmth of a woman was comparable to that of a bed… maybe he wouldn’t have to walk much longer.
“Oi.” Saber blurted out just as the woman began to walk passed him. It seemed his mental situation was leaking out into the air around him; the woman wasn’t happy about the trail she had chosen. Her tail was tucked between her legs, her eyes downcast, and her ears trembled. Was she afraid of him? Really? Holy crap.
“What are you doing out so far?” After his blatant attention grab, Saber turned to his left and eyed the woman, getting a much better look at her now that she was practically within arm’s length.
“Where’s your party?” There were two reasons for his questions. One; were they alone? If so, why the hell did this woman come this way? Two; depending on her response, he might just do something different than usual… However, at this point, Saber would take any handout from the Gods if it meant some sort of relaxing.

Ame just couldn't peg it. She hadn't felt fear she had first arrived in this new world and noticed the chaos around her. It wasn't until she had found out that you couldn't actually die in real life if you died in the game, that she had even began to feel comfortable, but for some reason the stranger left a cold feeling in her spine, making it tingle as she had walked past him. She knew then that he was looking at her. With the sound blurting out of his mouth, she stopped, almost feeling paralyzed. She thought to herself that she should keep walking, or even pick up her pace and run, but the way she was here, she was never about turning a blind eye to anyone, perhaps she should have changed that. She took a deep breath in as she tried to relax her body. Her tail had managed to crawl out from it's previous position and was now hanging flat. It was seemingly angry that she hadn't chosen to continue on. She felt her body turn on it's heels as he asked her what she was doing so far out and her left brow rose with a question about her party. She normally didn't invite people out when she wasn't going to battle, but with that question, she almost regretted not having some back up. What was he planning.
She looked at him and gave him her sweet smiling, hoping that he didn't want to kill her or anything. She had heard that once it was found out that players weren't actually going to die, that many of them had started player killing, which really was no formailty of hers, and she prayed that it was his either. She put her hands behind her back and tilted her head slightly, saying, "I come out here to think." Right away she regretted that statement. Now he knew that she came here often, and if he was a cruel player, she would have to rethink coming out here, and possibly find a new spot to rest and enjoy the scenery. "I didn't bring a party today, I didn't come here to fight anything so, it wasn't necessary." Again, she felt as though she had said something wrong, something she shouldn't have, but she couldn't take it back, it had already been said. She tilted her head the other way as she felt her ears twitch and she continued. "And what about yourself?"
After she finished speaking and was awaiting his response she found her eyes wander to his user information. Saber, Assassin, level 65. 'Wait.. level 65? What would he want with a level seventeen cleric, unless..' Her thoughts trailed off into her 'worst possible situation' mode and she felt her eyes widened, but quickly blinked, making it go away. Hopefully he hadn't seen it, because if he truly was a player killer, it might have set him off, though being an assassin, they were normally quite intuitive, she might have been surprised if he didn't notice. At this time, she really just wanted to run, run as fast as possible and get away, but her guilt kicked in, making her stay. 'How do you know what he wants? He could, in all rights, just want your help. Why are you being so judgmental?' Thought made her sigh lightly, a move she wished she hadn't made. She felt as though she shouldn't show weakness, not around a player like him, but her thoughts were correct, either way. Who was she to judge someone, and how could she possibly know what he wanted when she had never even met him. She would remain where she was, and give him the benefit of the doubt. She really hoped she wasn't about to regret her decision.

Do you believe in ghosts? His fellow adventurer who seemed to have strayed way to far from London stopped right in her tracks, and Saber’s eyes dropped from her head to her back and then further down her backside to her legs, and then her feet. His eyes scanned for weapons, traces of battle, traces of quests, and any sign of activity. However, all he saw was her tail and body figure. That was all Saber could openly see about the female foxtail before him. Although, that wasn’t to say she wasn’t hiding anything somewhere else on her person. Saber simply looked at the more obvious locations; hips, thighs, just above the buttocks, back, sides of the calves, and under the socks. This player, however, seemed completely stripped of all offensive capabilities… why was she out here? But, at the current moment, that lack of attack power was a good thing.
Saber’s mind was in a place of savagery, and to say that he wasn’t thinking of dismanteling the person in front of him in order to obtain any food items in her inventory would be false, as he was. With every stare at the woman before him, Saber’s mind slaughtered her entire being and imagined food pouring out of the digital pixels which would follow the brief flurry of attacks. Though, he also imagined sleeping on her. She was shorter, had a lovely face and a body which did not seem too boney; much like a comfortable, inviting pillow. Resting his head on her would do just as much good as walking to London. Yet, there was one question in his mind; how? How could he obtain that ticket to cloud nine? How could he get what he wanted in the quickest, most efficient way possible? Sure, he wanted to be greedy and was fully willing to put the woman on her knees with his blade, but that would make him the bad guy wouldn’t it? Saber had needs, but his moral standing made him think twice about drawing a blade on a woman. It was poor swordsmanship, unmanly, and just downright pathetic to do such a thing…
But then she started to answer him. The answers which she provided, as well as the way she spoke, caused the slumbering monster within Saber to open its eyes. A sly grin crossed its face, and the Assassin began to make several rash decisions in his mind. This woman was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and she was completely defenseless. The setup was bad, terribly bad, and Saber’s provocative thoughts could have earned him jail time in reality. However, such things did not exist here. Elder Tale was a lawless place where survival of the fittest was pivotal in life. Gaining experience, items, and treasure were also a goal of every adventurer. Saber personally could care less about those things, but survival was another thing, and so was living comfortably. This woman had his ticket aboard the train, and potentially two tickets; getting them was another thing.
First, the woman said that she was in the area to think. That meant she had come here in order to get away from everything and was probably looking for the most secluded spot. With that said; she probably didn’t tell anyone of her absence and avoided any other players on her way out to the zone. In addition to that, this place was a familiar place to her. She came unarmed because she didn’t have to worry about being attacked or killed by a monster. To put it bluntly; she had been here before. How many times? Once? Twice? Thrice? Whatever the number, it was enough for her to know the best place to go to get away from everyone and everything.
Second, the woman didn’t come in a party. Feeding off her first response; she wanted to think. She wanted to be alone. Saber and this woman were probably the only two players in a wide radius, and Saber had not seen any on his way back from where he was fighting as well; which meant even less of a chance of running into people. Though, if someone cared about the foxtail, Saber would have to be wary. If she left without mentioning anything, someone may be looking for her. He would have to either be quick, or be silent. Kidnapping wasn’t an option, but killing was. If it meant getting food, then it was worth it. The woman would simply respawn at London, right? So he had nothing to worry about. If necessary, he would just carry her items back as well and give them to her at the main gate, as she would probably come running out of the city. If not, he would go to the cathedral. And if she wasn’t there… well… he would bump into her eventually. Right? Right.
“I was training. There’s a group of higher level Stone Golem Guardians that spawn off to the west a little ways. They protect an underground entrance to the castle grounds.” He didn’t want to be too informative, but the Assassin just didn’t have it in him to blatantly lie, especially when it wouldn’t matter anyways. However, as he spoke, he did eye the woman again. He probably looked like a creep, but he wanted to ensure that his suspicions of her being unarmed were right.
His stomach growled.
“Uh… I… I’m sorry to bother you but… do you have any food?” Oi, we’re trying to be evil here.
“Hey. I’m not a sick bastard like you. I’m just hungry and tired.” BUT… BUT… WE HAVE TO FIGHT HER.
“I haven’t exactly eaten since lunch yesterday and only have a few pieces of fruit left. If you want, in exchange for your food, I could teach you a little about combat or something like that.” The Assassin begged, his stomach roaring against his will as he tried to cover it up. The man grimaced under his scarf and looked down at himself; pathetic.
No, seriously. Pathetic.

Ame eyed the man curiously. He had asked questions about why she had been alone, and in her mind, she was searching for answers that she just couldn't find the answers too. Was he some creep that went around killing lower leveled players, a thief looking to steal her things. She really didn't have much to offer to begin with, so she hoped that wasn't the case, yet, she got an uneasy feeling from him. She wondered why she had that feeling. She hadn't come across anyone who made her feel weary, so she wasn't expecting what was to come. He had an off aura about him, but she couldn't place her finger on it. She wondered, with a tilt of her head, why he had wanted to know such things, but so far, he hadn't acted on anything suspicious. Perhaps her mind was just off, she had a lot going on recently that seemed to take her mind away from other things, like understanding why she had feelings of fear when she had passed the adventurer before her. Perhaps her mind had been playing tricks on her? Whatever the case, she was sure it would come into light eventually, and she would, hopefully, understand the feeling she had had upon meeting him.
As he spoke to her, she widened her eyes. "Oh wow, that's really cool! I'm not quite high leveled, as you can see, so I haven't been out that way before. I wouldn't mind checking it out one day, once I level up so more though." She smiled to him. Maybe one day, if they would run into each other again, she would ask him to go with her, unless he didn't want anyone to actually know. She sort of felt the vibe that he had wanted to hide his actual reason for being there, but she mentally shook that thought away. 'Why would he want to hide that, Ame? Stop thinking such bad thoughts.' She let her mouth move into a smile as she realized that he was eying her up. She felt a slight tilt of her head, and let out a slightly nervous laugh. 'Wha- what's with that look?' The thought would linger in her mind momentarily, but as his stomach growled, she felt her smile grow wider. The feelings that she got from him, he was hungry. She knew from her own experience that people just weren't themselves when they were hungry, so she passed of her worries as that, and nothing more. She wanted to let out a sigh of relief, but she let the feeling pass.
After he finished speaking, she opened up her inventory. The only thing she had was her left over roast beef sandwich. She had wanted to give it to Caer at her wedding, but thought it was a stupid gesture, though she knew the sweet bride probably would have been happy to receive it anyways. She felt bad for going to the wedding with no presents, but, now, she was happy she hadn't given it away. She nodded her head and clicked on it. She held it out for him. "It's a roast beef and Swiss sandwich. I hope it will be enough, but it's all that I have. I made it myself so please, enjoy!" She smiled widely and then felt her head nodding again. "I'm fairly familiar with combat, though I wouldn't mind if you did want to teach me a few things! You can never know enough!" She grinned widely at her fellow adventurer and continued speaking. "I'm KittyGrey, by the way. Feel free to call me Kitty though, it's the norm with everyone else I know too!" She paused for a moment, looking at him. "And what's your name?" Even though she knew his name already, and he probably knew hers, she always found an introduction was always in order, for her, it felt like a confirmation of friendship.
She felt herself staring at Saber, her mind racing with her previous thoughts. She let out a small sigh and lowered her head. "I have to apologize to you. It was rude of me to just walk past you, but, for some reason I had felt afraid. I know now it was your hunger that made it seem so, but, for a second, I thought you might have been one of those player killers I've been hearing so much about." She felt horrible for thinking such a thing and raised her head, her hand reaching up over it and then placing itself on the back of her head. Her tail hung low with embarrassment as she confess to him. "I've been slightly nervous lately, and I don't even know why." She let out a nervous laugh and opened her interface. She clicked on his name and sent him a friend request. "As repayment for my rude thoughts, I'd like to be friends, and maybe one day I could make you an actual meal, instead of just my own left overs." She watched him carefully, hoping she hadn't offended him too much, also hoping that he would accept her request, though she wouldn't be offended if he did, afterall, she was the rude one.

Do you believe in ghosts? Begging for anything was never Saber’s strong suit, and asking for the littlest of things made him uncomfortable. The fact that he was now standing there, staring at the foxtail in front of him with anticipation that she was going to provide him with some sort of food, was making him feel weaker by the second. He knew full well the limitations of his own body, but the sheer fact that this woman could have food on her made him practically a dog that wanted a treat. Though, Saber wasn’t going to stoop so low as to get on his hands and knees for some hard bread or some kind of soup that most players carried around with them. He would rather cut his own head off and respawn at the cathedral than do such a thing. Listening and respecting women was one thing, but he would go to no extremes to please whatever moral gods and goddesses there were. Saber didn’t have time for that.
However, what he would beg for was a sandwich. Said sandwich was roast beef and swiss, and said sandwich was homemade. That meant a few things, all of which made Saber’s eyes lock onto the food object the woman extended towards him. One; it was a sandwich. Two; it was a sandwich that had meat and delicious cheese on it with a soft, moist looking pair of bread slices. Three; it was homemade by the lovely lady Saber had stumbled across. Four; she was giving it to him practically for free. Practically. Attached to the sandwich was the verbal exchange Saber himself had stated; he would help this woman learn how to fight. Well, to an extent. Saber was never a teacher in anything he did and simply did what he did by instinct as well as years of drilled in practice. There wasn’t much for Saber to think about actively anymore aside for which blade he wanted to use to slice the neck of his target. After that, it was all skill, training, and effortless efficient removal of life.
And yet, Saber still took the sandwich. He was careful to keep his hands to himself and silently accepted the trade conditions set before him. Yet, he wasn’t foolish enough to be so greedy, there was no need for it. So upon recieveing the Sandwich, Saber summoned a slightly old looking plate from his inventory; it was a relic of sorts most likely because of its markings, but he was too lazy to figure out its origins. Using the plate, Saber set down the sandwich, cut it in half, and returned one half of the sandwich on the plate to the woman whom had just introduced herself as KittyGrey. An interesting name seeing as she was a foxtail, but judging her for the choice wouldn’t change the situation. The Assassin simply nodded, pulled his scarf down out of his face, and took a medium-sized bite out of the sandwich.
Heaven.
The delicious flavors in the angelic piece of food he had just bit into splurged into his mouth and filled his entire body with warm chills. With the other half still in his hand, Saber considered retracting his kind offer and eating the whole damn thing by himself. It would have been nice to do that and he would have enjoyed every last bite, but he kept his hand towards the female player. Sharing was caring, and as little as Saber cared; he wouldn’t dare put himself before someone’s personal way of living. He was no murderer, per say, and if he was going to end someone’s life it wouldn’t be by starvation. That just wasn’t fun.
Once his mouth was, sadly, empty, Saber forced himself to resist taking another bite. He listened quietly to the woman’s soft voice and grimaced as she described him as a player killer; she wasn’t wrong. He wouldn’t admit it to her, but the blades which rested on the Assassin’s hips hadn’t bled just monsters during his time in Elder Tale. Thankfully, he didn’t have to do such things a lot. It was a terrible feeling, killing another person, and it led to several sleepless nights for him. The last human being he put into the grave, and returned to the citadel, was a young man named Cyris. The kill was justified in Saber’s eyes, as he wouldn’t draw his weapon for any other reason, but it was something that still pained him. The fight had occurred when Saber was around level thirty and it was a massacre. After that, Saber told himself never again, but had already come close a few times to breaking that promise. It hurt knowing that he was capable of performing such actions, but the need to survive was real, and Saber wished to help everyone stay alive. Not so much himself; he wished he could jump off a cliff sometimes because of the hell he lived in. Although, that was another story on its own.
“I appreciate your offer to dinner, milady, but I am not one who likes to stay in one spot for too long. Sitting down for dinner is something I cannot do for the time being, but the future has a lot of mysteries.” Saber took a light nibble out of the sandwich, teasing himself with the deliciousness in his hand. It was so difficult not to eat like a pig at that moment, but he showed the most restraint he could.
“I am Saber, and I am not a player killer. I prefer to call myself a vigilante…” Vigilante seemed like a better word compared to murderer, but the end result was the same; he killed people. He drew his swords, sliced into their bodies, cut them, slashed them, hurt them, and ultimately ending their lives. What helped in Elder Tale, however, was the fact that players respawned. It helped eased Saber’s conscience, which was eventually broken into pieces anyways.
“Though, I wouldn’t be too sure about not being afraid of me just because I asked for something to eat…” As Saber took another bite into the sandwich, his other hand flicked to his left thigh and a small knife was withdrawn. Poison leaked off its edge as he mentally activated a skill and the man had it twirled and pointed towards Kitty, resting it against where a blade on her hip would be.
“I’ll give you tip, as thanks for staving off my worst enemy; be afraid. Be very afraid.” Saber wiggled his knife for a moment, but it didn’t linger. He returned the weapon to his thigh, not wanting to scare the woman too much or accidentally cut her. That would be bad; he didn’t have an antidote for his own weapons.
“Food is a strong bargaining tool and could save you in the case that someone is just hungry, but there are players who don’t care and may be even more desperate. You’ll give them a sandwich and you’ll end up just making them want more. Thank you for the sandwich, but I wouldn’t suggest saying you have anything next time unless it is someone you have met before.” A sad frown crossed the Assassin’s face and he stuffed the sandwich into it, taking the brief moment to shove the emotion off the edge of Mount Everest. Saber tried to be a kind person, but he knew inside he wasn’t. He had problems trusting people and he doubted he would get over it, but that was life and he would deal with it. His time spent alone was quite fun anyhow.
“However, don’t stop being so warm and fuzzy inside. It turns you into a horrible person.” Very carefully, Saber reached over and gave the woman a light pat on her head. It was a bad habit of his to do, and he wouldn’t be surprised if one day he lost his hand, yet he still did it.
“Don’t worry about thinking ill of me either, it doesn’t bother me nor was it misplaced. My intentions initially were to remove you from the equation and simply take your items. Curiosity was probably the only thing that kept my weapons sheathed.” The Assassin sighed and lowered his head a little just as he bit into the sandwich in his hand. To think that he actually considered killing this woman. How much of a pitiful man was he?

Ame watched as he took the sandwich. She felt her left brow raise as he took a plate out of his inventory. She tilted her head in bewilderment and couldn't help but wonder what he was doing. To her surprise, he cut it in half and gave the half he didn't take back to her. She took it, looking down at it, then looked back up at him. She tilted her head to the other side and said with a curious tone, "You can have the whole thing, you know." The gesture confused her and she wondered what sort of person he really was. She still wasn't quite sure about him as she still had that odd feeling that told her to go, but she ignored it. If he didn't take the other half so would shrug and put it back in her inventory. "Well, if you decide you want it, you are more than welcome to it." She would smile to him, though her mind still searched for answers she probably wouldn't find, especially not within her own mind. She wished for a moment that she could pick through his brain, but then she decided against it. You never knew what you were going to find, and she wasn't sure that she wanted to see what lurked in there. Her eyes widened slightly as he took down his scarf. She didn't know what she had been expecting, but, the character in front of her was actually kind of cute. He had what she thought of as a 'baby face' though the stern looking of it, almost emotionless, made her think differently. She thought that he might act older than he actually was, but she didn't even think about asking.
Watching him take his first bite, she smiled. Though he had shown any signs, she knew her food wasn't disappointing, she knew how to cook. In her life back home, if she could even call it that any more, she knew how to cook many things, which was why she had chosen the chef skill. What she didn't know, was how in depth this strange world really was, literally to the point that she could make whatever she wanted at any time. Though her adopted parents weren't poor, they weren't home very often so when she had a craving, she had to go purchase the ingredients herself, which sometimes was a bother depending on the mood she was in. Either way, she was happy that she could share her food with other people in this world, as it wasn't that costly and she was happy that all he needed was to eat, or so she hoped. She never really thought of anything else he could need. He told her he would help her learn some battle techniques for it too, which was kind of cool, especially since he was an assassin. She wondered what his moves would look like, or what he would teach her, but she decided that she would have to wait to see.
"Well, just keep it in mind for the future then." She smiled to him, but then tilted her head, her smile fading with his next words. A vigilante, he said. So, he killed players, for a just cause? She wanted to back away, but everyone had their reasons and often 'vigilante' were people who took law enforcement into their own hands, or, that's what she recalled the definition of it being. She knew, however, that he had definitely killed players before, though he would not call himself a player killer. Survival in this world could sometimes be hectic and more often that not, player's were faced with hard decisions and they had to figure out what road they would take, but she wondered what had caused him to kill the player, or players he had. Again, she wasn't about to ask that question. She felt her mouth open slightly as he spoke to her again, telling her not too be too sure about fearing him. She felt herself swallow hard as her right foot shifted behind her as her eyes dropped to a knife in his hand. She watched it as green ooze began to drip off of it, then she looked up at him and stared into his eyes, searching for an answer, a reason for him to draw his weapon on her. She wanted to look down at it when it came close to her body, but she wouldn't move, her eyes would remained locked on his. She wanted to shudder at the feel of his knife so close to her, so badly that she felt a shiver run up her spine. She knew the knife wasn't touching her, but his next set of words made her breath in and hold her breath.
As he sheathed his blade, removing it from sight, she let her breath out. She remained quiet, however, until he was finished speaking, fully finished. She watched him take bites of his sandwich and then continue once the food in his mouth was finished. She had known that he was a serious person, but she had never thought that he would be like this. 'What kind of life have you had to become like this?' She wondered if he was just playing a character, if it was the game, or was it his life back 'home' that had made him the way he was. She knew there were risks by giving other player's items and though she had never run into a problem yet, she had heard the stories of having all of the players items taken when they had been player killed. What he said next made her tilt her head, but she kept eye contact. Personally, she didn't think she would ever become so. Was she capable of being a horrible person? She had experienced some pretty awful things in her life and met some pretty terrifying people, could she be like them? 'Not if I can help it..' The thought was grim, but she knew she would never be what she hated, she would never sink so low. Then, he spoke his last words. She felt as though these last words were the ones she had been waiting for. So, he had been thinking of killing her. Her vibes weren't wrong, but she also knew that he hadn't killed her, and he had been on the brink of starvation it had seemed like. People were more angry when they were hungry, she knew from experience.
"Thank you for the tip, really, I do appreciate it, however, normally I'm a pretty good judge of character." Her voice was calm and she would show no signs of fear as she spoke, but she wouldn't remove her eyes from his. It wasn't that she was testing him or anything, she just wanted to take in everything that he said and she hoped that he would take in everything that she was about to say. "You say you are a vigilante, so really, you must have justifiable reasons for killing whomever you did. I'm not asking for the reasons, but don't think that you can make me think ill of you. Not now. You could have killed me, you could have taken my items, but you didn't. You say it was out of curiosity, but I don't think that's all that true. You seem haunted, your soul, and I think you put up a barrier to stop people from getting in because you are afraid to trust people. You scare people away, but I won't be fooled. For an extremely brief moment, I saw sadness on your face so, you can try to hide it, but you have emotions just like everyone else." She paused for a moment, taking a breath and continued. "I'm not saying you should change who you are, but you can't bullshit me. We may have gone through different things in our lives, but I've been like you, I've lived in your world. I used to think that I liked being alone all the time, that I didn't need anyone but myself, but I was wrong." her eyes became pained, and she let out a soft whisper for her next words. "Don't you ever feel lonely?" She continued to look at him, knowing that her words probably wouldn't get through, but she hoped that they would, even if it was far down the road. She knew his face, truly knew it, because she herself had lived it. She didn't know his story, and may never know it, but she recognized his face, at least, the look on it. He probably thought he wasn't worth anything, and it killed her to see people like that, because it reminded her of herself.

Do you believe in ghosts? The first thought of saying “good bye!” suddenly crossed Saber’s mind like a lightning cannon going off, and his right foot twitched slightly as his body began to move in reaction to that cannon. However, it seemed that the woman beside him had a retort that she wished to speak. Before he even lifted his foot, the Assassin turned his ankle back, restored his comfortable position, and stood upright as he continued to bite and chew on the half of a sandwich he had, well… quarter of a sandwich now. Yet, if he had known what Kitty was about to say, Saber probably would have made himself vanish right then and there without question. But with a lack of telepathic abilities, he was forced to standby and listen. Maybe not forced, as Kitty wasn’t holding him down or anything, but he simply was unable to move away from her. With the sandwich pressed gently against his lips, Saber stood and listened… was he curious…?
No, curiosity was not the feeling he had. Maybe it was something much simpler; anger that she dared to stop him? Jealous that she actually had the guts to do so? Or maybe was it the declining atmosphere he felt? First off, why would he be angry? The short fox tail in front of him had provided food, how could he be angry at that? However, as Kitty spoke, initially thanking him for his tip, Saber felt the need to escape even more, but the feeling of anger wasn’t what was inside of him, not one bit. He should have known that this was going to happen, however, as a conversation had more than one side to it. Saber had spoken his peace and given Kitty a piece of his mind, and he had also assured her of a few things within that mind of his. Essentially, he had laid out words and opened the door; now Kitty seemed to be taking advantage of it. Should he be rude and cut her off…?
Actually, that was what he was about to do, but the hardcore stare he was getting from the foxtail kept him silent; the mute button was strong with this one. As much as his mind told him to speak, as much as he wanted to shut her up, as much as he wanted to just put his hand over her mouth; he stood there. He listened. And as he listened, his fingertips began to dig into the sandwich he held firmly between his fingers. Being paralyzed by just getting stared at was a strange feeling, and it made Saber uncomfortable. Yet he couldn’t look away. The woman in front of him seemed determined to get a point across, and even if he tried to get away she might have chased him to the ends of the earth; that would just be tedious. And so, he stood there…
“Are you trying to understand me or something…?” Kitty, the blonde haired beauty before him, began to speak to him about his choice of using the word ‘vigilante’. Personally, Saber called himself a cold-blooded murderer. That was what he was. No matter how he tried to slice it, he killed people in this world and had done so readily. He knew there would be no punishment, so he cut them to pieces… The Assassin clenched his teeth a little; he used vigilante just so she wouldn’t stare at him so sadly anymore. Yet, as she spoke, using ‘murderer’ probably wouldn’t have changed her view of him, maybe. But then… then she began to speculate. Haunted? A barrier?
No… Saber wasn’t haunted by his past… It was a curse, not a haunting. It lingered on his shoulders like a weight he could barely hold, and it ultimately crushed him. Saber’s mind was still in shambles and he was still having problems with his memories; he could barely remember the faces of his family and his childhood was jumbled up. His game life wasn’t any better; several faces he knew he should know were missing from his mental directory. He wasn’t haunted by anything; it was a poison that had infected his body and was sucking him dry. Calling it ‘haunted’ would be a positive thing…
But, she was right in the sense that Saber kept people at arms-length. Why? For the reasons she had, sadly, stated; he was sad. He was sad because he didn’t want any of them to get close to him. He was sad because there was no one he could safely stand beside. Not a soul who could stand before him and hold him in place, not a being which could quell the raging fire that burned in his soul. Saber was a survivor, a hunter, born and raised to fight and hunt his prey and live to see another day. He learned how to adapt to situations, broadened his intelligence by learning modern technology, and has made himself into something he his proud of. As much as he hates himself, as much as he fears what is hiding within his shadow; Saber is a person he is comfortable with being. Lonely…?
“That is a choice.”
“There differences between you and I are vast. You are kind. You have a eyes worth looking into, and a smile worth protecting. Our similarities are that we are both here, inside of this world at this very moment. We are similar because we are still alive, and still breathing. We are both human, even though you may be a Fox and I another race. However, that is where the line ends.” The Assassin deposited the remaining bit of his sandwich into his inventory and narrowed his eyes on the Foxtail before him. With his hands now free, he felt a little less inclined to hold a conversation. The man reached up to his face, pulled his scarf over his mouth and hooked it onto his nose, hiding himself once again.
“I do not fear being alone, I accept it. I am who I am because it is what I know. I am who I am because if I am not, then I am nobody. Call me lonely, scary, strange, a fool. Call me whatever term you wish, and I will call you wrong.” His hands moved quick, and he drew the two blades on his waist. His twin swords shimmered in the sunlight as he held them both in a reverse grip, letting them rest by his side.
“Do not try to understand me because you cannot until you have lived my life. Your world, your life, your past… your feelings… they are different than what I have experienced. I am not you, and you are not I.” Saber clenched his teeth and pulled his lips back slightly, bearing his canines beneath his scarf. He was no wolf hair, but the man was quite upset at the moment, to say the least. So upset that he had made up his mind. With his swords held, he began to walk towards the woman in front of him.
“You think you know my soul? You think you know who I am?” Both of his blades began to seep poison, the liquid appearing out of the hilt and flowing down the edges of the weapon as he activated one of his skills.
“If you could see inside of my mind, or even take a peak; you would know that you are wrong… I am a fighter, a survivor, an a lonely fool because not a god damn soul in this world could shoulder the weight I bare like I can!” The assassin raised his left arm and aimed his blade towards the foxtail. It lingered for only a moment, before it dropped. In a flash, it flew down in front of the foxtail and pierced the ground between the two players, cracking apart and digging into the earth below. A moment later, Saber ripped his blade out of the hole in the ground and then slashed a line into it.
“You are there, I am here. And from there you cannot even fathom what I know, what I have seen, or what I have felt. And with that; you are as foolish as I.” After drawing his line, the Assassin sheathed his weapons and turned his back from the woman. His tucked his arms inside of his cloak and wrapped it around himself, pulling in his rage and anger before he went any further.
“The way you are… You couldn’t understand me even if I told you everything.” He said with a sneer. After that, he began to walk away.
“Our interaction ends here, Foxtail. Thank you for the food. Good day.” The man squeezed his cloak, holding onto it for dear life as if something inside of him was breaking. His eyes trembled and he blinked hard to hold his thoughts inside. After he finished speaking, he sealed his lips and breathed slowly through his nose. The Assassin trembled.
“Damn it…”

Unleashing a Hidden Beast Ame stopped talking, now it was her turn to listen, but what she would hear, she wouldn't like. She had said what she wanted to say and she truly believed that this man, this poor soul, was lonely. She never wanted to feel the way she did when she was back in her other world, she didn't want to be lonely anymore, but this man, he was okay with it? How could someone be okay with being lonely? No, he accepted it. In her mind, being okay with it, and accepting it were two very, very different things. So she wasn't completely wrong, but she had definitely struck a cord with him. She tilted her head at him, she really didn't understand him. If she called him a fool, he would tell her she was wrong, but she didn't even think that. She wondered what he would say if she called him her friend, though she knew the answer would be that she was wrong as well. Was there really nothing she could say to make him feel like he had someone by his side? Someone who he could turn to? At that moment, she became hell bent on hearing his story, but would she regret that thought, regret the notion of trying to hear the reasons that he was the way that he was? By the end of this post, her mind wouldn't change, but somewhere in her heart and mind and soul, she would feel a pang of regret.
She stood her ground as he brought out both of his blades, the only thing that would alert him of her fear was the straightening of her back more than it was. She wanted to step away, turn around and run. Did she regret stopping to hear what he had to say to her? She kept telling herself no, but the way she was feeling, was it regret? She wanted to stop him, tell him he was wrong to say those things to her, but she knew he wasn't. She really didn't know his story, she didn't know what hard ships he had had to face, but she had a burning feeling to find out. To learn about him. He had said that she had eyes worth looking into, and a smile worth protecting. She felt her heart drop with every word he spoke, and when he drove his blade into the ground and drew out the line, she finally took her eyes off of his, staring down at the line. His next words struck her heart and some how, she felt as though it was breaking. 'Could someone really be like this? Feel the way he does?' Her eyes couldn't fathom the line at her feet and she felt her knees give out.
She dropped to the ground, her tail quickly moved out of the way of her bottom, being careful not to get struck, but she hadn't even noticed. She kept her eyes wide on the ground, and she put her hand to the line, touching it. She picked her hand up, green liquid oozing off of it. 'Can someone truly be so haunted by them self, to not think they aren't worth anything?" She closed her hand in a fist. He had already said his good bye and was walking away at this point, but she wouldn't allow it. This pang at her heart, it confused her, but she could feel her anger throughout her entire body. The hairs on her ears and tail stood up, the feeling of anger, or was it angst, raged through her body. She whispered the words, "equip, staff." She had no hope of winning, but she gripped the staff that appeared in her hands and found herself standing. She stepped over the line and yelled. "You're just going to walk away? Fine! You're right, I don't know your world, but you sure as hell don't know mine either! You think my eyes are worth staring into? You think I'm worth protecting? There are people out there that would say you are wrong!" She felt her chest become heavy with the thoughts of her mother, and her adopted grandparents, the one 'friend' she had ever trusted, and the 'boyfriend' who had tried to do horrible things to her. With each word, and each thought, she stepped forward.
"I won't let you get away that easy Saber! Fight me! If I win, you tell me your story but if I lose, you can do whatever you want with me! I don't care anymore!" Wait, what the hell did she just say? There was no hope of her winning, yet she would just give herself to him? 'Ame, what the hell do you think you are doing?!' She ignored her thought, pushed it away. She held her staff up and pushed it down, hitting it hard off of the ground. "Martyr Spear!" A glowing white spear would appear above her head and her eyes pierced Saber, whether he was facing forward or backward. Once the spear knew it's target for sure, it would shoot itself towards him. As soon as it was gone, Ame would shout, "Miracle mine!" She would shoot out a mine that would glow at her own feet. If he attempted to come after her, she would, hopefully, be able to trigger it and give him a piece of her own magic. She felt fury coursing through her veins and her mind was clouded with the rage that she had had as a young girl, abandoned and let to rot. She breathed hard and waited for him to strike her. She knew she was going to lose, if he even tried to fight back. She really hadn't been thinking, rage had taken over her thoughts, her body, fighting against her mind. All she could think about was how wrong his words were. If she was so worth protecting, then why wasn't she being protected? Why had she been abandoned to people who hated her? She didn't even think of the family she now had, because his words had only brought up the hate in her heart. - Words -1026- Tags -Saber- Skills Used -[Martyr Spear][Miracle Mine]- Notes -You can not actually do whatever you want.. Do you believe in ghosts? With his mind made up, Saber began to think of how he would return to London. He was tired, so tired of this world, of being who he was, but he had no choice in the matter. The player yelled that it was his own choice to be who he was, but it was quite the opposite. It was the decisions he made which made him into the walking husk of regret that he was, and it was those decisions which left him with no path to walk but the one he was on. Sure, he was lonely. It was so cold and dark where he was, but it was warm because he knew that he could handle it. Saber was living the way he was comfortably. He was bettering himself in a way many other people could not, and it was making him an even stronger person as a whole. Saber could deal with the pressure of pain, he could handle the stress of combat, and he had no qualms with drawing his blade on anything in his way. In this world, that trait was keeping him alive. It helped him move forward.
And yet, it seemed the woman whom he had just practically told off was intent on pushing him. This Foxtail was either extremely brave, or pitifully stupid. Which one it was, however, Saber could not tell. All he knew was that if she continued towards the place he was, she wouldn’t like anything she saw. Stopping the fox in her tracks would most likely be the only way to keep her from making the worst mistake of her life. Yet, could he do it? That was what caused Saber to finally stop. As he heard the foxtail return to her feet and the reminiscent sound of an item being summoned charming his ears, Saber began to question himself; could he truly raise his blade against such a tender little soul? Was there no other option?
Yes, there was, but that option would only lead to a chase. Said chase would lead to a conclusion Saber did not exactly wish to deal with. He had things to do, and worrying about someone showing up at his doorstep at any moment was not something he wanted on his mind. Saber was a stalker and a killer; having the same being done to him left a bad taste in his mouth. People who did that generally found themselves waking up in the cathedral, or facing a fate worse than death. Over the course of a few months, Saber had learned how to abuse the game system and how to torture people to get what he wanted or to deter them from coming after him. It was quite simple, really. All he had to do was keep their health bar from emptying. However, doing that to the woman behind him would most likely be an impossible feat for him… He was a killer, but he was not so cold-blooded. Was he?
But, it was that question which kept him still. And it was the fox’s words which made him look over his shoulder towards her. He stared at her from where he stood, eyeing the new weapon at her side and the distressed set of eyes she now had. She was quite upset with his choice to essentially speak and leave, but she would have to deal with it. Saber did not care about her past, and he sure as hell didn’t care about how wrong he may have been. He just wanted to keep her out of his way and out of his shadow. Although his previous approach of trying to strike fear into her heart seemed to have unlocked another door. That door was rage, and she was going to come at him with full force it seemed.
“So… she is intent on picking apart the iron curtain, isn’t she?” Saber shifted his hands slowly off his cape and the Assassin gripped onto the hilts of his blades. He didn’t unsheathe them and he didn’t move them as he listened to the deal he was provided. Rather, he listened. He listened to her words and eyed her body, watching for any and every subtle movement she made. It didn’t take long for him to learn of her seriousness, and by then he was well prepared for it; he would have to put her in her place.
“You should have stayed on the ground…” Saber whispered to himself as a decent sized spear of light appeared above the Foxtail’s head. It hovered and shined for a moment until its owner had pulled a trigger, and then it shot forward at an amazing speed. The instant it moved, Saber turned to his left and twirled around his left foot, pivoting out of his previous position. The light spear shot passed him harmlessly. Just as he came around, the woman created something beneath her feet. It was a strange sight, but the foolish shout cast enlightened Saber enough of what it was. In response, Saber quickly equipped his bow and arrow quiver. In less than a second, he had an arrow nocked and fired at the woman, aiming for her legs. If she moved quick enough, she would escape. However, the assassin was not done with her, as he already had another arrow lined up and trained on her position, ready to fire at her should she move. He was not worried about the first shot hitting, as it was more of a decoy. Once she moved, he would have her.
Yet, the man was ready to move as well. His knees were slightly bent and his hips were twisted. The Assassin knew that combat could easily shift into his opponent’s favor at any point, so remaining vigilant was something he kept in mind. Yet, the offensive capabilities of this woman were still to be determined. If she was like any of the other mages he had come across, she would have skills which he could not dodge if he was caught off guard. She would also have skills to counter his own attacks or completely nullify them and make his strikes a wasted effort. With that in mind, Saber would have to keep on his toes. As he stood by and waited for her response, the man put together a decent strategy. Being gentle was out of the question now… He would silence that Fox’s tongue.

Ame watched him closely as he evaded her martyr spear and she moved quickly, knowing the assassin class to be quite fast. The mine would go off, but she wouldn't be there when it did. She quickly moved forward, running towards him at a great speed. Surprise struck her eyes as he equipped himself with a bow, but luckily, she had fought alongside an assassin with a bow before and paying attention to his moves was something that she was glad she had done, because now, she felt as though she could take him on, if she played her cards right. She still didn't think she could beat him, but at least, she had a chance to prove herself, maybe not to him, but this battle would prove something to her. As soon as he let the arrow go, she side stepped, twirling in a similar fashion to his bringing her left leg up so that it would not be hit, only, the arrow had caught the end of her attire and ripped it. She didn't really care, as it was only her starter equipment but the torn garment made her more upset, even though now, she had an excuse to get new armor. She would have to find a decent tailor for that, but for now, she let the thought slip her mind as she rushed towards her target, her plan molding itself in her brain with each step she took.
She looked at the arrow that he had notched. He was quick, but she would have to be quicker. She kept moving forward, but when he let go of the arrow she would try something new to her. She would try to summon her next skill mentally, so that he would, hopefully, not know what hit him. She had watched his blade begin to seep with poison at two different times, and he didn't activate it by voice, so she almost knew, but hoped it would work. She watched the arrow breeze towards her but she swatted her hand from right to left and thought, 'Holy Rampage!' As the arrow pushed itself back, hitting the ground before her, she knew that she had more of an advantage, or hoped she did anyways. She snapped her fingers, letting the explosive mine behind her go off. For what she had in mind, she didn't need it to interfere with her plan, she needed it to work and leaving the one behind would cause her great problems if she didn't take it away at that moment. She had been running quickly, so she hoped that her holy rampage would send him back if it had managed to reach him, just like his arrow, but before she stopped to look to make sure, she looked to her cooldown time. It had disappeared from martyr spear and was now working itself down from her holy rampage. She knew that when she used it, her mana was thrown off and she wouldn't be able to heal herself, but she wasn't looking to do that right now anyways, if she was even ever given the chance. She readied herself for her next move, becoming nearer and nearer to Saber and she thought, 'Martyr Spear!'
The giant spear would once again form, and hopefully the assassin was on the ground, or at least caught a bit off guard so that her spear would hit him. At the range she was in, even if her holy rampage hadn't managed to strike him, it would be hard for the spear to miss him at such a range, no matter how quick he was. It raised above her head, casting it's glowing self and flew towards Saber at great speed. She knew the assassin class was normally fast, but she didn't know just how fast they were. Behind the glowing light of the spear, she couldn't see him. She would continue to run for the last location she had seen him in and once she was close enough, hopefully her spear had either hit, or caused him to look away from the brightness of it, she would cast miracle mine again, only this time silently. She instantly turned and began to run in the opposite direction. As she snapped her fingers, she dove to the ground. The mine would burst, hopefully under his feet, and she would turn her body, looking towards the scene, shuffling herself backwards so that she was as far from him as possible. As she shuffled, she waited. Once she saw him, she would get back on her feet. She knew he wasn't dead, she knew her power wasn't as great as his, but she hoped, prayed that she had caught him. She breathed hard, already tired from the use of her energy, but she couldn't stop to rest, not now, she didn't know what was at stake.
She thought back to the morning she had had before meeting Saber, the deadly assassin. It had been clear, like most of the others. The sun was shining and she left her home happy as could be, almost feeling like skipping along the road, though she had not. She thought about the flower grove, and the beautiful patch of yellow flowers she sat amongst for many mornings before this one. She thought about looking up to the sky, the sun so bright that it had made her close her eyes as she laid back against the warm grass. She thought about the feeling of the sun's heat hitting her pale skin as she dozed off into thoughts of her life in Elder Tale. Up until this moment, her life had been peaceful and she had only fought when she had to, or needed to gain a few levels. She had never raised her staff to another adventurer, told herself she never would. That's when she popped back to reality, popped back into the moments of possible death. She wanted to close her eyes and go back to the morning. She wanted to sleep peacefully in the flowers. If she had, maybe she wouldn't have met Saber, maybe they wouldn't be fighting each other. She wanted it to end, she wanted to turn back time, take back what she had said to him. Mostly, she wanted to take back her own feelings of anger, she had promised herself long ago that she wouldn't let her rage take over, never again, yet here she was, heavy breathing, one hand to her chest and staff in her other hand, waiting for Saber to come into view. Waiting to strike him again. - Words -1103- Tags -Saber- Skills Used -[Martyr Spear][Miracle Mine][Holy Rampage]- Notes -Thanks for letting me re post!! Do you believe in ghosts? Right after he fired his first arrow to begin the fight and reset himself to be ready to fire once more, Saber’s mental state had begun to chill like ice. His heart closed off to all possibilities of finding another way out of the situation in front of him and his eyes were set on making the woman before him bleed. Oh yes, he was going to make her regret her passed thirty minutes of life. She had stepped on hallowed ground, crossed the line he had set, and had dared to send that pathetic excuse for a magical spell in his general direction. At the cost of her sick, pathetic, innocent face; she was going to learn her mistake and there would be no held punches from the Assassin. Crushing such a tiny bug beneath his boot would be nothing, and he was going to enjoy every second of it. This damned wench had outstayed her welcome…
“Quite violent, aren’t we?” A voice chuckled in Saber’s mind. It was answered with a hiss as Saber pulled on his bowstring, causing every bit of loose string to become taut. The looming silhouette was silenced.
“Corrections are necessary for progress.” As the woman approached on his position, Saber was on the verge of releasing his arrow but he held. He waited, watching her patiently as she encroached on his position. He didn’t flinch, he didn’t rush, and his heartbeat remained at its slow, steady pace. The player was comfortable under the pressurized air he now stood in, and his body was unaffected by the stress brought along with it. The outcome was predetermined in Saber’s mind and eliminating the threat was all he needed to focus on. There was no win or lose, there was only death; and he would bring it swiftly to the foolish Magician that was challenging him.
The fingers holding his second arrow slipped free, and the Archer assaulted the Mage once more with an airborne attack. This one, however, was a very basic strike. There were no status alignments attached to it and no boosts given to it either as to not waste any energy. It was a basic attack, and Saber’s eyes narrowed on the Fox as she rushed towards it; he needed to learn her defenses. The bowstring vibrated against Saber’s wrist as he stared beyond the ranged-weapon but was finally stalled when another arrow was loaded, like a sniper putting another round into the chamber. Just as Saber pulled back on the string for the third time and steadied his aim, his target cast yet another spell. As expected. Yet this one was thought-casted, and actually caught Saber off guard for the split-second of its initial activation, until he was able to see what it was. His arrow was smacked out of the way by a burst-wave and the barrier raced towards him in a rush of aggression, but the Assassin remained still. Should it hit him, he would suck it up and take the hit, but as the mana blast raced in; it was dissipating. The further it moved away from the woman whom had cast it, the power behind the attack weaked. Then, just before contact the attack ran out of momentum, and time. The only thing Saber was hit with was a light breeze caused the player’s cloak to flutter. He grinned.
With his third arrow ready, Saber continued to stare at the Mage. She had assaulted him twice and had been able to keep herself from being hit by two of his basic strikes, what would she do next? She continued to try and get closer, but she was silent. Her eyes seemed to be searching for an answer… Yes, she was searching for a way to get through Saber. However, she should be more thankful for the Assassin’s weapon choice. If he had drawn swords, she would be stripped of everything and her head would be on a spike by now. Was he playing with her? Maybe, but that was making things interesting. As Saber stood by, relaxed and calm, the woman seemed to be the opposite. She was throwing spells at him almost with the expectations to hit him with something, and he had only take a single step so far.
“One more…” Saber thought to himself as he pulled the arrow he gripped against the bowstring, increasing the tension on the string until it peaked. Then, he watched as the Mage responded in kind. Though, her move was to summon another one of those floating spear things. Saber wiggled his nose at the sight and adjusted his aim, tilting the arrowhead of his projectile up slightly. A moment later, the woman fired her spear at him. The instant it moved, Saber released his own arrow. The two objects flew towards each other for a moment, but then collided in mid-air between the two players. In a loud bang, the spear was broken and shattered apart into an array of light. Saber’s arrow was obliterated in the mini-light explosion. In the midst of the light explosion, Saber vanished.
Under the cover of the spear and the light flash, Saber removed himself from the current fight and slipped into the shadows of the forest. Whether it was into the canopy, behind a few trees, or into a hole somewhere was unknown, but he moved in an instant. Though from where he was, he could still see the battlefield. After the light from the small blast evaporated, his view was much better, and he watched the lovely backside of the Fox as she actually dared to turn her back to him. He enjoyed the view, but it was a terrible move by her to say the least. Saber deposited his bow and arrows and then pulled a pair of throwing knives off his waist. Due to his actual knife disappearing, he was forced to use the thinner blades if he wanted to get up close. He had no qualms with doing so, however, as he could throw them just as easily as he could use them to stab.
A sly grin crossed the man’s face as he continued to stare at the back of the Foxtail and the idea of striking her with a high velocity knife staggered its way through his skull, but he waited. He waited until she finally stopped running and then… then he moved. With silent feet and a pip in his step, the Assassin slithered his way through the trees and eyed the tree the Foxtail hid behind. As he started to move, the player activated his first skill of the fight (if it could be called one); -Hiding Entry-. A moment later and Saber disappeared entirely from sight. To one without any form of detection skills or perception abilities, the player was nothing more than a ghost now. His steps were silent, his body camouflaged, and his blades were now even more lethal… and he took full advantage of it.
Slowly, the man walked up on the Foxtail, slithering slowly up behind where she was standing and stared at her as he did so. He watched her movements, tracked her eyes, and moved in response to where she was looking and how she was searching for him. With every step closer to his prey, Saber lowered himself to the floor until he was fully crouched. Then, once he was in the lowered position he activated the skill -Trinket Work-, which caused his looming presence to vanish as well. If a monster could sense his blood thirsty aura, there was no doubt in his mind that this woman might be able to as well because of her race. That was why he first removed her ability to see him, and now he had just removed her ability to sense him…
All of this sneaking only took a few seconds, and by then Saber was actually standing only a few feet behind the woman. He clutched his two blades and narrowed his eyes on her; he was going to enjoy this…
Activating his third deadly skill for the day, -Stealth Strike-, Saber’s body actually began to glow blue. This blue caused his invisible silhouette to become more visible and his previous two skills suddenly turned off; revealing him entirely both visibly and mentally. Yet, the instant he cast the skill; he was already only a few inches from the woman whom was his target. With both blades pointing forward, the player thrust them towards his prey. One was moved with the intent of striking the Foxtail in her lower spinal column, just above her buttocks. The other would go underneath her left arm and be driven through her ribcage, most likely piercing a lung due to the length of the weapon.
“Boo…” The man whispered over the blonde’s shoulder, a grin crossing his masked face as he spoke and attacked.

As the scene cooled down and the kicked up dirt from her mine settled, Ame searched. Her eyes were filled with shock and fear as they skimmed the area. She looked forward, squinting. Nothing. She looked to both of her sides and the turned to face behind her, searching in the trees. 'Where? Where is he?' She breathed hard, feeling her knees buckle, but she shook her head, she wouldn't fall. She took a few steps forward and felt her hands grip the tree as she looked behind it. He had to be here somewhere. She put her back against the tree for a moment. 'Does he know where I am? I should run. I should pick up my feet and run as fast as I can.' She tried hard to calm the loud breathing escaping from her throat, but she was terrified and it just wouldn't go away. She turned her back to the trees once again and looked out onward. 'How far is the town, I wonder.." She couldn't see where the town was, as the trees in the distance covered her view. It couldn't be that far, right? It was far enough for her to know in her heart that she wouldn't make it. She wished she had asked the assassin she had fought before of his other moves, but he was just a level one, he didn't know any others but bank shot. She let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes.
As she did so, she felt a rage enter her heart, but this time, it wasn't hers. Her tail swayed softly behind her, telling her to be cautious and her ears twitched frantically, feeling something in the distance. She whipped her head around to where she felt the rage, but as soon as she had felt it, it seemed to disappear. Was her mind now messing with her? Or was it her fear? Her rage was gone, replaced with regret of ever having egged the assassin on. She shook her head at herself, mentally kicking herself in the butt. What exactly had she been thinking, no, that was the problem, she hadn't been thinking, she had let her anger take over and now, she was paying for it all over again. She was going to die for her first time, and it wasn't going to be by a boss, or some crazy strong monster, well, the last one was arguable, but no, it was going to be by a higher leveled adventurer. She wanted to cry and then scream, or scream and then cry. No she wanted to do both, but she did neither. She shook her head and hung it down, closing her eyes. She focused on her surroundings. She waited, hoping to feel some sort of energy, or hear some sort of movement, but nothing came. Where had he gone, she would wonder. What is he waiting for? She knew what this was, it was the calm before the storm, but she allowed her emotions to balance once again, her mind regaining it's true thoughts. She noticed her breath had become calm, but little did she know, it wouldn't stay that way for very long, as the assassin was creeping up on her.
Suddenly, as she stood there silent, she felt the aura pop back, closer than ever and with an ear piercing shriek she turned as the assassin spoke one word. That one word would cause her the worst pain she would possibly ever feel. She felt every move. Her head throw it's self back as the knife entered her lower spine sending a searing pain up it, then complete numbness. Instantly, she coughed, a small amount of blood escaping with it, flying onto the tree that she was still hiding behind. 'Why didn't I run?' Then, she cried out in agony as she felt the second knife slide into her rib cage. She grabbed onto the tree and tried to hold herself up, but she would drop to her knees once he took them out of her, or let go of them. Her mouth was filled with the metallic taste of her own blood as it began to pour out of her mouth. She shivered, the pain to great for her to handle, as tears streamed down her face. She felt herself gasping for air as she hung her head, letting the blood run out. She felt her eyes skim over the wound on her side as she put her head against the tree. She put her hand on it and then took it off, looking down at her bloodied hand. She coughed again and fell to her side, looking up at him.
Would she stoop so low, and beg for her life, or would she stoop even lower and beg for death? She couldn't decide which she would do so instead, she looked up with a smile, her bloodied lips curving upwards. "Guess that means," she coughed as she tried to speak, her eyes closing with the pain she felt as she did so. "You win." She stayed there for a moment, looking up at him, the smile still on her face, then she felt her eyes close. Was she dying? Yes, but she wasn't dead yet. She saw her health bar, slowly depleting with the loss of blood and she opened her eyes again. She reached her hand to her staff and felt herself trying to push herself up. She wasn't going to fight him, not anymore and if he didn't kill her, she knew what she had to do, and quickly. 'Saint Channeling.' If he didn't interrupt, a blue circle would entrance it's self on the ground and her health, and his, if he had even lost any, would begin to rise. Hopefully he would allow her to live as she did, indeed, owe him a favor. She wanted to slap herself for doing such a thing, but the deed had been done, and now it was time to pay up. - Words -1005- Tags -Saber- Skills Used -Saint Channeling- Notes -Kill her or don't, the decision is yours.. Do you believe in ghosts? Operation complete; the attack was successful and quite effective at that. The knives Saber held tightly within his fists pierced through flesh, muscles, and evaded bone as he drove them into the tiny woman’s body with the mindset of damaging her enough so that she would give in to him, or at least be weakened enough so he could finish her should she resist further. There was a slightly satisfying sound effect to the stabbings, and it made Saber shiver a little and actually almost made him stab her a few more times, but twice was enough. As his weapons were buried inside the little fox, he listened to her squeak and watched as she barely kept herself upright. That ability to stand didn’t last very long afterwards, however. Even as the blonde extended a hand to the tree beside them, she couldn’t mentally take the wounds it seemed. Adding the fact that there was actual blood leaking out of her wounds and her mouth, he could see why she couldn’t handle it. She probably had never been stabbed before. Thankfully, Saber had not had such an experience yet himself. Sure he had run close to death a few times, but he had never had to deal with the pain of being physically stabbed with the intent to kill behind said stab.
Though, from the distance he was at before the Foxtail collapsed, Saber began to realize how truly feminine this woman, Kitty, was. Part of him regretted being so vicious. Sure, she had a nice body to look at, just like a lot of women, but there was a little more to it this time. From a distance and through angered eyes, he had not really paid her much attention. Now, he could see that he was a bit of an idiot to do so, sort of, as the blonde haired annoyance was a bit of a beauty. And yet… he was still quite willing to stab her anyways. She may have looked nice and she had a lovely fragrance (yea, he smelled her a little because he breathed), but she had encroached on territory which she had been warned not to. In response, she would suffer as punishment. Yet, he was surprised at how long she actually did let herself suffer. Wasn’t she a Mage? She had some kind of healing powers right?
After his initial attack had effectively immobilized his opponent, Saber retracted his blades from her body and took a step back from her. Rather than move to his safe distance like usual, he kept her within grabbing range this time. She was on the ground and probably wouldn’t try to fight back from such a position but Saber had seen players do several stupider things. If she did try something, he would kick her in the face and just end her life rather than give her the mercy she deserved. As he stared at the Mage in her bloodied state, Saber finally poked at her player-icon and began to view the information the game supplied him; Kittygrey, level 25, Cleric, health at seventy-five percent of its usual, Mana even lower, bleeding status effect draining her health steadily. That information wasn’t much, but it honestly showed that Saber’s choice of attacking her the way he did was actually the best option for her.
If he had assaulted with his bow, he would have aimed for her head and critically wounded her, most likely killing her. If he used his katanas, he would have removed limbs and would not have stopped until she was dead. Electing to simply poker her was the least lethal, and it had done the job just as well as the other two options he could have picked. At least this way she at least could understand the difference between them without being too severely mentally damaged. After facing him, Saber had seen two players cripple underneath the pressure of being sliced up. It wasn’t pretty. Saber regretted doing what he did to those two men, but they had dared to threaten his survival and would not stop until he turned them into chunks.
This woman, however, was not so foolish. On the ground and in her semi-dying state, the Foxtail admitted defeat and went as far as to smile up at him. She was a strange woman, to say the least, but Saber respected that she was willing to say that it was over. Once she spoke those words, the Assassin removed his hands from the hilts of his katanas, which he would have unsheathed in an instant just to slice off her head in a flash if she even made a single aggressive move. He then waited patiently as she slowly returned to her feet after a moment of self-reflection, maybe. Saber was going to help her, but decided to keep his distance for now. He had hurt the little lady enough and if he grabbed onto the wrong spot, things could both get awkward and painful for her. In addition to that, if he rushed the process, her discomfort could have escalated. Knowing those facts, the man kept his hands ready to catch the Foxtail if she were to fall. He didn’t extend them out like an idiot, but his left foot pressed against the ground as he readied himself to move if things were to go bad. Thankfully, Kitty was able to get to her feet without much additional trouble. A moment later, she cast a healing spell on herself. As it began to heal her, Saber felt a little warmth himself; it was most likely an area-of-effect cast. As happy to receive it as he was, the spell was unnecessary for Saber. Through all of their little scrapping, Saber hadn’t taken any damage. The only damage he did take, however, was because of the spear’s explosion. The game had promptly dealt with that though, and his health was back up to one-hundred percent before he even blinked.
With everything over as the woman’s wounds faded and her health fully recovered, Saber released a heavy sigh. While he exhaled, he let his shoulders drop and the stress of everything fell off him. He almost collapsed as the tension in his body vanished. He hated fighting people, as necessary as it was sometimes. It was stressful and annoying. It also required a lot of thought processing power; said processing power he didn’t exactly care to use. Saber liked using as little energy as possible. It helped him stay awake longer and he didn’t have to worry about making any fatal mistakes.
The assassin reached out and placed his hand on top of the blonde’s head. He narrowed his eyes on her and ruffled her hair a little, adding a little pressure but not too much. This foolish girl had nearly made him kill her, and that wasn’t good. Not at all. Saber hated fighting people, but raising a blade to a woman was a sin even for him. She wouldn’t know it, but because of today Saber would put himself through a long gauntlet of non-stop training as his own punishment. He should never have raised his blades in the first place. To think, this woman had bothered him so much with just a single question. How rude of him.
“My only request is that you don’t ever ask those questions again…” The Assassin spoke quietly as he rubbed the Fox’s head. He then ran his hand down the side of her face and patted her cheek lightly.
“If you have any questions about the game, ask them, but don’t ask about why I am who I am. What you’ll find is nothing more than the rage which you have just seen. Got it?” Whether she understood that and said yes didn’t matter. What mattered was that Saber didn’t want her, or anyone, trying to pry open the Pandora’s box which he had sealed inside of himself and then covered in an iron curtain. Not yet, at least. He may have accepted who he was, but he didn’t trust another soul on the planet with that box. He didn’t trust anyone with promises, and he certainly didn’t trust anyone with protecting his back. Until he found someone like that, he was okay with being a ghost.
“No more fighting. I’m tired now.” He removed his hand from Kitty’s cheek and sighed again, his eyes becoming heavy as the adrenaline rush from combat dissipated. He wanted to nap, or at least lay down for a few minutes, but London was quite the walk away. Maybe he would head to the nearby flower fields for a short nap. Yea, those would do him fine.
“Careful on your way back to London.” Saber patted the lovely lady on the shoulder and strolled passed her. Hopefully she wouldn’t chase him again, but if she did he hoped she would do so without a light spear pointed at his back. He was done with fighting for today. The man had done enough of that earlier and he truly, honestly, just wanted to rest. Hell, he considered just dropping to the floor right there but there was the threat of being jumped by spawning creatures. At least in the fields he could set up a visual perimeter while he rested.

Ame watched him, his hand reaching for another weapon as she reached for her staff. She felt a pang of fear reach over her. She had admitted defeat, yet he still reached for his weapon? Yet, when she stood, she noticed his foot plant itself. He didn't reach out, but, she felt as though if she were to fall, he wanted to be there to catch her. Maybe it was an illusion in her own mind, but she got the feeling that she was right. She didn't smile as she healed herself as she focused on the pain as it went away. The warmth of her Saint Channeling released her of the agonizing pain that she had felt moments ago, and when she finished, her health bar at full, she reached down to the spot where she had been impaled and found nothing there. With the feeling, she let out a soft sigh. She heard a sigh come from Saber as well and she found herself facing him. She unequipped her staff after that and was happy to see that he had taken his hands from his other weapons. She had gone off the diving board, straight to the deep end, but now, she felt as though she was paddling in the kiddie pool, safe and once again child like. Her gaze looked up to him, reaching his eyes. She couldn't quite understand it, but knowing that he would probably leave her now, made her feel sad. 'You are one f'ed up person, Ame.'
As he reached out his hand, she wanted to flinch, but she was happy she didn't when he placed it on her head. Her ears twitched softly against either side of it and as he ruffled her hair, she felt something different inside of her. 'What- What is this?' She wanted to reach up to her chest, but stopped herself as she heard his voice chime in her ears. Her eyes skimmed down him and to the ground as she nodded her head, but as his hand moved to her cheek, that similar pang inside of her chest came back and she found her gaze back on his face. She felt the light patting and her tail swayed from side to side behind her. Why did she feel so.. happy? As he spoke again, she nodded. She didn't want to over push his boundaries, so instead of arguing with him, she softly whispered, "I promise I won't say or ask anything like that again, but, if you ever think that you want or need someone to talk to, know that my ears are always open to listen." That pang, it was there again with her words and she felt as though she had to continue. "I'll be here for you." Her soft voice, the way she was looking at him, the whole scene before washed away from her mind and now, she stood there, her face pink with her familiar flush, but oddly enough, it was different than the normal feeling of embarrassment. The girl had some serious issues.
As she heard him speak again, his hand lowering itself from her face, she felt sad. She wanted him to touch her more, feel the soft touch of his hand on her face again even though it had only been a moment since it had gone. 'Stop, just stop right there?! What the hell are you thinking?! He just stabbed you in the back... and in the ribs.. and now you want him to touch you again!? What in the hell is wrong with you?!' Her mind was fighting with her internal feelings and it did make a valid point, but she pushed the thought away. She had forced him into that fight, even raised her own weapon first. She was the one that drove him into rage, as she did herself. 'I can not blame him.' she knew every one's past was different than hers, yet she had thought that maybe he was just lonely, and wanted someone with him, but maybe, it was her own feelings that she had been speaking about. She had many friends in this world, unlike her real self, but even still, the thoughts of her past rang in her head, making her feel more lonely. Maybe that was the reason she had made him out to be what she thought he was, a bad person, perhaps, it was truly her own mind that was bad. She let out a sigh as he patted her shoulder, that pang running through her once again and reaching her heart. She shook her head as he passed her.
Her mind was telling her not to, trying to force her from continuing what she was about to do, but she fought through it and reached out her hand, her head hanging low. She felt her hand grip lightly onto Saber's wrist and she looked up to him. "Let me come with you." She swallowed hard, her mind making her uneasy, but something else was asking her, no begging her to hold on. She shook her head and raise it to him. "London is far from here, and, well, I can keep watch while you sleep." She didn't understand herself, or the feeling she was feeling, but she wanted to be near him, wanted to watch over him. She wanted to protect him, make him feel like he had someone that was there for him. She felt like a fool, her face in a pink flush and her lips parted as she waited for his answer. Why did she want this? What good could from it? The real question in her mind however was, 'do you like this guy?! Seriously?!' She let out a soft sigh and shook her head. It wasn't to him, but to herself. She didn't know what or who she liked anymore, all she knew was that she wasn't ready to leave him. "I promise I won't bother you, I'll just keep my eye out and, you can use me, as a pillow, if you want." Yeah, that's it, tell him he can use you, tell him to use you as a pillow, give him full reign over you Ame. 'What the neep are you thinking?!?!?!' Her mind swore at her, trying to force her to change her mind, but that was it, her decision was final. If, and only if he refused her, would she leave him, but until then, she wanted to stay. - Words -1083- Tags -Saber- Skills Used ----- Notes -Proceeded.. at own discretion.. sort of >.> Coded By Saber of L33T T3@M Modified by KittyGrey

Do you believe in ghosts? A slight regret loitered within Saber as he increased the distance between himself and the fox. He regretted coming here today. He regretted his choice to stay up all night. He regretted thinking he should try to correct this woman’s train of thought. He regretted trying to shut her up, because it was all a waste of time. His choices led him here and he was now in quite the pinch, one that he had forced himself to avoid for nineteen years of his life, however, this wasn’t the first time he had rubbed shoulders with the emotion which he knew was lingering nearby. Said emotion he hated because it messed with his inner workings to the point of mental collapse. It brought along stress, questions, fear, and caused Saber to become more aware of what happened around him. The emotion wasn’t love, but simply the need for a connection. Sure, some would call it love but Saber only felt that towards his own family, so far, and he forced himself to ignore it whenever it was towards someone else. Why? Because he hated it.
That feeling of becoming weak because of someone else in his life, he hated. The fact that he thought about the other person a lot, he hated. The fact that he yearned to be with them, he hated. The fact that it got in the way of his wish for power, he hated. The sheer fact that it drove him insane and threw him into a violent rage because of him just getting a whiff of it, he hated. And now, he was slowly finding himself twirling into that direction. Yet it wasn’t of his own accord, no it was this foxtail. He wouldn’t go as far as to call this love, but she seemed persistent about becoming his friend, and that was something Saber dreaded the most. Friendship was weird because there was so much it could become, and it meant that Saber could potentially have someone dependent on him. It also meant that someone would say the same words the Fox did; “I’ll be there for you.” “I’m here if you need someone to listen.” “You don’t have to shoulder it on your own.” God dammit, if he wanted someone to talk to, he’d make a volleyball. People were so pushy in this world and it made Saber sick to his stomach…
But he wouldn’t say that. No, he wouldn’t tell this woman she was better off going to London. No, he wouldn’t tell her to teleport back to the cathedral, and he wasn’t going to yank his wrist out of her hand. The warm feeling of her grip reminded Saber that he was the machine here, he was the monster, and Kitty had done nothing to earn his wrath. She had done nothing wrong and what she had done wrong, she had promised not to do again. So why should he yell at her? Why should he be the mean one? Doing so would make him a villain, and as much as Saber was okay with being the hated one; he didn’t want to be seen as a villain. He was willing to shoulder the weight of everyone else’s pain and failure and was willing to put himself in harm’s way so everyone could go home even if it meant he couldn’t. He was okay with being a cold person in order to reach such a goa, and he knew itl was something he was willing to do. But to blatantly tell someone to go away would make him probably just look, and feel, like a total jerkoff. That… That wasn’t what he wanted.
The man closed his hand into a fist as Kitty held onto his wrist and he closed his eyes. As she spoke to him, he felt himself want to silence her right away, but instead shot her a bit of a glare. He wished she would just leave. Though, it would help if he had someone to look over him as he slept. Then he wouldn’t have to wake up every time he heard a stick break, not like he had to when he was truly alone.
During his time away from London, Saber didn’t exactly get much sleep. Every second away from the safety of the city, he could have been attacked. There were no friendly players out there and no People of the Land to cry out whenever something appeared. Out there, in the wild, there was nothing but a battlefield. And Saber had been through enough of that. Aside from missing the warmth of the city, living under constant fear had driven Saber to the brink of insanity and his brain had begun to shut down. Going through that again, even if it was for a few hours, frightened him. He remembered waking up to a massive centipede gang in front of him, to the face of an angry spider and her children, to the sound of a massive wolf, and to the jaws of some… thing… which had nearly devoured him. These people… They had no idea what this game was… They had no idea what dangers lurked in the shadows…
No wonder they were all so fragile.
“Tread lightly, Fox.” As he whispered the words to the woman, the Assassin pulled his hand carefully from the Fox’s. He looked away from her after disconnecting himself and returned to walking, lifting his head and shoulders up as to get a better view of the zone around himself.
“I can’t tell you what to do and I won’t force you to do anything. If you wish to come along, that is your choice.” Saber pulled his cloak a little tighter around himself to keep what little warmth he had inside and pushed his nose up against the inside of his scarf. This woman was strange, very strange. She wanted to go with a man whom had just attempted to kill her? And she had said he could use her as a pillow. If that wasn’t a little off-putting, than he didn’t know what was. However, Saber himself would have to listen to the words he spoke; “tread lightly”. Those words he found himself saying a lot lately, but for good reason. Most people went through their lives not thinking of the consequences, but this situation was one that Saber would have to be careful in. He was playing with fire.

Ame knew he didn't want her there, she knew that he wanted to send her away. He probably hated the fact that she wanted to follow him and watch over him. He preferred to be alone, he had said so himself, so why did she continue to chase after him. Why did she want to be near to him, let him use her? Was it her childhood, her experiences that made her want to be close to him? She didn't know, and at that moment, she didn't really care either. She didn't care that he didn't want her there, she didn't care if he hated her for following him. She wanted to be there, that's why she was there. Whether there was something more to it than that didn't matter, it was happening and he, nor she could change it. He would have to put up with her for a little while longer and he would have to deal with it. How could she tell he didn't want her there, you ask, well, anyone would have thought that if they had seen the fierce glare. She pulled her hand away, feeling the rage in his essence, but, for some reason, she didn't feel bad. As much as he acted like he didn't want anyone around, he knew that it was for the best, she was sure, if only to watch over him while he slept. But did he really want to be alone? 'Or does he think you are too weak?' The thought flashed in her mind, and she let out a small gasp.. She knew he would give her a weird look, probably wondering what the hell was wrong with her, then again, would he think that it was because of his words that she had gasped? Regardless of what it was, she wouldn't allow him the thought she had had, it was better left to her own mind, she thought.
She watched as he turned away from her, continuing to walk. 'Thread lightly? What.. What do you mean?' She wanted badly to ask her question. Was he talking about the area, or that she should tread lightly with him? Or both? She let out a soft sigh, hanging her head and followed behind him. She raised her head as he spoke again and she felt sadness hit her voice. "I've made up my mind, Saber." She wouldn't say anything else, just continue to follow him. What exactly had she meant by that anyways. Her voice was soft, yet somewhat forceful, a tone she had never heard come from her lips before. It was almost like an annoyed sound, but it wasn't him she was annoyed at. "You aren't good enough for the likes of him, he wants power!' She shook her head, trying to get the thoughts to leave. Who was saying that anyways? Her mind? It had to be. Is that why she wanted to be close to him? But she hadn't wanted power before and she didn't think she wanted it now. She wanted friends she supposed, people to care for, and people to care for her. She had felt that a party was always better, that way you didn't have to fight alone, or worry about things creeping up on you while you slept, it meant you didn't have to be alone. She wanted to ask him, she wanted to know why he wanted to be alone, but she kept her mouth shut. If he wanted to tell her, he would, besides, she had promised him that she wouldn't ask anymore things like that and she was all about keeping her promises. Still, that didn't keep her from wondering, though she knew she could never figure it out on her own. That would be a truly impossible task for her, one that would never happen. She would just have to wait, if he even allowed her to hear his story and ask the questions she wanted answers to. She figured she would be waiting forever if that was the case.
'You should just walk away now, forget what you've been through, you have someone you like.. why risk it for the likes of him?" Ame felt her head swell with unwanted thoughts. "Shut up!" She called out, then stopped in her tracks and looked at Saber's back. She was half expecting him to turn around and slice her apart with his katana. She sighed and shook her head. "Uh.. Sorry.." She felt like such an idiot. Her mind was playing with her, Saber was playing with her, this game was playing with her, who else wanted to join in? The worst part about it, though, was that she was allowing it. She should have listened to her mind, and turned around to leave, but she stayed, following behind him, wondering about him. 'Turn around Ame, turn and run the other way. You don't want what this guy has to offer. He'll only bring you pain.." Her subconscious pecked at her mind and instead of shouting out she fought back mentally. 'Okay, mind, just stop it.. It isn't like I'm falling in love, or wanting to, I'm just interested in him, for unknown reasons, but the reasons are there. Just give me time, I promise I won't let my heart feel for him.. too much..' She put her hand on her head and waited to hear it's argument back, but it didn't come. She let out a relieved sigh and looked at her surroundings. She wondered when he would stop, where he would choose to sleep. She would stop when he did but until then, she wouldn't peep another sound. She would just wait patiently and let him sleep, then it was over, and she could leave his side. The thought came quick, and she shunned it. 'No, what if he doesn't want me too afterwards?' Her mind spoke back this time and what she heard made her want to cry, but she didn't, she held her emotions inside. 'He'll want you to leave, that guy will never ask anyone to stay. Don't get your hopes up.' She sighed softly, knowing that her subconscious was right. He'd want her to go.

Do you believe in ghosts? Saber knew that his bed wasn’t very far away and based on his current location, it would take maybe a minute or so to reach the meadow he sometimes used to nap in whenever he was nearby. It was a vacant place with plenty of flowers and open space, which helped with hiding and gave him long sightlines in case of an emergency. However in this case Saber just wanted someplace where he could actually relax and sit down. Sleeping off his fatigue would just be a bonus. After taking a few steps, Saber began to consider the treetops as a viable option. There, he would be out of the reach of almost ninety percent of all the threats in the game so he could rest easy without being disturbed, but he would then have to worry about falling from the high location to his death. Before he left London in search for his sanity, he had no problems climbing a tree and taking a quick nap or something. Now, he tossed and turned in his sleep almost constantly, he always awoke in a cold sweat, he groaned and talked loudly, and he cried out to things that weren’t there. Sometimes he even shouted himself awake. Saber’s mind was still broken up and in a state of disrepair, his memories were still scattered, some were still missing, and his emotions were running wild. He could contain it when he was awake, but the instant his eyes closed and his guard was dropped; everything came pouring out of him like a rushing river. For the most part, he didn’t have to worry about becoming a problem because he never slept with anyone. No one was allowed in his room and he was always sure to seal it up tight so no one could break in, but now he would have to deal with this Fox.
After every possible attempt to get her to go away, it seemed apparent that she was now going to tag along and watch over him whether he wanted her to or not. What didn’t help was the fact that reluctantly, and stupidly, Saber agreed to having her accompany him and she was probably grinning from ear to ear now. Well, if she was that type of masochistic woman who enjoyed submissive play seeing as Saber pretty much nearly killed her moments before. However that didn’t seem to be the case. As the man glanced over his shoulder, he found her trudging along behind him, not skipping or hopping like he mentally expected. It was as if he was dragging her with some invisible chain and she seemed lost. That was none of his concern, though. His concern at the moment was their safety and reaching his destination. The world was not kind and he knew that it was probably holding a curveball behind its back right now. With that in mind, Saber kept himself from interacting with the Fox or even looking at her. She was back there and he could hear her footsteps. As long as he knew she was there, he wasn’t going to bother checking back constantly. That did not mean he still didn’t look, as he did every few moments. Those checks were more to check for any monsters behind them though, and to make sure she wasn’t trying to assault him.
But with every look Saber gave her, he noticed something different. This happy, bubbly female was now quiet and her face wasn’t exactly the bright and happy one he had initially seen on her face. This one was full of despair. Why was this…? Was she bothered by something? If Saber had to guess, he probably would say it was him. The stuck-up, stiff Assassin wasn’t exactly the playful type and he didn’t give off any vibe that he wanted her with him. In addition, he didn’t exactly smile nor had he said anything uplifting until this point. He probably seemed depressing to her and he could see that it was affecting her. Though, due to the complex being that is the Human Female, Saber wouldn’t put it past her to be troubled by something else entirely. With that in mind, Saber kept his mouth shut and turned his eyes forward again. Well, until she told him, or someone else, to shut up. At that moment, he paused in his steps and looked back at her. She shook her head at him and sighed, and then apologized? Saber frowned beneath his scarf and turned his eyes forward, not saying a word to her.
This woman was having problems it seemed, and Saber dared not step on the landmine which was her emotions. Doing so would be more life threatening than an actual landmine. Still, Saber didn’t exactly like being the bad guy. He would have helped her, or probably should have said something to her, but he truly felt it unnecessary. But, he did have something he could do. At the moment, the man probably seemed like some cold hearted male who dreaded people and wanted everyone to go away. That was true, to an extent. Saber didn’t want people to run away from him in any sense of the words, but he wanted them to understand. He wanted people to look at him as someone they could rely on, as a person they could trust themselves with. Saber wanted to be the guy whom a person would message or call when they were in a tight spot and not have to worry about him not showing up. That was who he wanted to be… Except it wasn’t, and it probably was his own fault. That alone made him upset and it bothered him to no end. If only he was nicer. If only he let himself smile and have fun again.
“For one and for all, until the tower falls.” Saber said aloud, adjusting his cloak slightly as he walked so it draped over his shoulders easier. He didn’t speak directly to Kitty, nor did he look at her as he suddenly opened his mouth. It was as if he was talking to himself or just projecting his words out. Yet, he didn’t look at her because he wanted her to simply listen. For now at least.
“That is something my Father once told me one night after I asked him why he fought so hard to protect me from a very unhappy bear. I probably wouldn’t be here if he had not been searching for me. I didn’t understand it at first, and he laughed when I asked him what it meant.” The Assassin placed his hand on a tree when he walked passed it in order to keep himself balanced. Fatigue was setting in and he grumbled slightly when he felt his left ankle wiggle underneath him.
“He patted me on the back, smiled and showed me his aged teeth, then placed his hand on my head. That man was not just my father but my mentor, teacher, guardian, and my partner for many years until he introduced me to a new companion. He told me many weird stories about Gods, and great tales about battles long ago that my ancestors participated in. My Father told me about my bloodline and how it was filled with the fiercest warriors known to mankind. He told me to be proud of my heritage, to never let anyone or anything stand against it, and to speak proudly of the person I was. He told me to never quit, to never lose, and to never stand down no matter how great my foe was whether it was a small rabbit or an immortal God. That man taught me how to fight, and he taught me how to stand.” As he continued to speak, he raised his voice slightly to ensure that it was projecting enough for the woman behind him to hear. But he paused for a moment, looking straight to his right towards a faint yellow color; flowers. The man nodded to himself and adjusted his path so he was walking towards the distant colors. They weren’t far off now.
“He taught me how to relish in the face of a powerful enemy, to smile under pressure and when the situation seems dark and troublesome, and most of all; he taught me to never fear anything. And through all of those years with him and my mother, I took many things with me. Many of those were his little sentences and thoughts.” The Assassin closed his eyes for a moment, the vision of his father smiling down at him filling his mind. An unseen soft smile crossed the man’s face for a fleeting moment, and it disappeared the instant he reopened his eyes.
“For one and for all, until the tower falls, he told me. And when I asked, he told me this; We are men of honor and bravery, courage is what we say drives us but, it is actually fear. My boy, we do not fight because we love it. We do not fight because it makes us men, but we fight because we fear death. We fight to live and survive to see tomorrow. We fight because we are scared to die and we are scared of what we will leave behind. My boy, he said, we fight because we fear for our brothers beside us. We fear that they will fall and leave us alone. We fear that they will not be granted safe passage to Olympus and the Heavens above. We fear that we will not be able to share dinner with them. My boy, we fear leaving our loved ones behind, unable to tell them we love them and care for them until Zeus says that we may rest easy. For one and for all. We fight for ourselves so that we may live, and we fight for everyone else to ensure that they may go home. Until the tower falls. We fight until our enemy can threaten us no longer… until we are truly safe.” As he finished once more and paused to take a breath, Saber found himself standing at the edge of the brightly colored meadow. Rows of yellow flowers filled the open space for a great distance, but the yellow very quickly became a mix of colors. Red, purple, blue, and even pink filled the beautiful sight. Green surrounded the lavish land and protected it from the shadows beyond while the bright blue sky above cast a soft spell on the area. Saber smirked at the sight and then soft gestured for Kitty to follow him. He stepped carefully into the field, pushing the flowers apart with his toes before stepping down as to disturb the area as little as possible.
“That day, I was almost taken from my family and from that world we have left behind for the time being. Thor had challenged me and tested my ability to fight, and I had failed. My father, however, had not given up on me. In my place, he killed the bear that attempted to kill me and saved my life. I cannot count how many other times he has protected me, but that day is one which sticks out to me because it was the day I was sure I would have perished.” A heavy sigh escaped the man’s lips and he pushed his cloak back, exposing his lower body as he felt a gentle breeze come through the zone. He placed his palms on the pommels of his blades and pushed down gently, causing them to tilt a few inches.
“My father was not kind to me as a young man. He had high hopes for who I would become and instilled many traditions in me that I initially dreaded. I hated him. I hated my family and I hated the blood which flows through my veins, but eventually I grew tired. I became sick of him beating on me and putting me into the dirt. I was tired of feeling useless, so I pushed back. I fought against my father and challenged him. I dared him to try and break me, and he did. Multiple times.” Saber grinned and chuckled softly as he began to remember his childhood more and more, as if talking was actually helping.
“But every time he did, he was still there with me. He put me down, kicked the dirt in my face, and yelled from sun up to sun down, but when my mother appeared and shouted that dinner was ready, his hand was always there to pick me up and his back was always ready to carry me home.”
“He was a man I hated, a man I feared, because I knew I could never be like him. No matter how strong I become, no matter how smart, how fast, or how powerful I am. I could never match him. My blades will always be slower, my strikes will always be lighter, and my mind will always be weaker. My father was a true Warrior. A man I wanted to be with all of my heart. I chased after him every day, but always came up short. He was always a little faster, a little smarter, a little better… Always. I hated that most, but it fueled me. To this day, I still strive to be like him, to be better than him. But deep down, I know that it will never happen. I know that in the face of a true enemy, my father will not falter, but my knees would shake. He would smile and laugh, while my teeth would grind. He would be the initializer of the fight, while I would stand back and wait… My father would challenge the Gods if he were allowed to, and I would simply stand at the base of Mount Olympus and stare up at them, wondering.” Finally, after a long walk into the meadow, Saber finally came to a halt. He closed his eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath. Then, he looked up towards the sky. He relaxed himself and stared towards the distant, unreachable blue ocean.
“I am who I am because of the choices I have made, and I accept them because I am proud of whom I am. My father gave me life when he met my mother, and he poured his heart and soul into me with the mindset that I would become someone greater than him. He prayed to the Gods every night that I would be strong, that I would be a man in their eyes. I am who I am today because of his faith in me, and because of his iron fist. That is why I am not sad to be alone… because I know that I am not. I have the blood of a thousand men in my veins who stand beside me every time I fight.” Saber finally looked down from the sky and turned to face Kitty. He reached up and pulled his scarf down to uncover his face then placed his hand back onto the bottom of his sword.
“There is nothing I fear in this world except fear itself, and if I must stand alone then so be it. I will still chase after the Gods and will still bring down anything which stands in my way because there is nothing else in this world that I know. You are right. Sometimes I dread the loneliness which plagues me. The nights get long and cold without someone to share stories with, and the fires seem much smaller than what they are when I sit by myself next to them. I am forced to constantly look over my shoulder because there is no one else to do it for me, but it does not bother me. And it does not bother me because it makes me strong.” Nearing the end of his spiel, Saber walked forward and placed his hand on Kitty’s head softly. His lips pulled into a light smile and he rubbed her head softly.
“I know that I am human, and I make mistakes. I have felt injury, pain, and have faced death many times. Yet I know that I will survive because of the man I am. I fight alone because I do not wish to risk the lives of those I cannot protect. I keep to myself because my burden is my own, but I have shared it before.” Saber removed his hand from Kitty’s head and lost his smile. Then, he deposited his throwing knives and one of his blades into his inventory. The remaining sword he removed from his waist and lay down carefully on the ground. A moment later, Saber was down on his back beside it. He laced his fingers behind his head and cradled his skull inside of the pillow he made.
“I know my limits, but I also know that they are endless. Fighting alone in every battle is impossible, even a fool like me understands this. However, I am a fool. In every fight I participate in when I have fellows at my side, I find myself limited. I am always looking over my shoulder to see how they are doing and I’m always trying to do more than I know I can handle in order to try and keep my allies from being harmed. It’s stupid, and I hate it… that is why I prefer to be alone. Then, I know that I am the only one at risk and I can fight with all of my might. It is lonely, yes, but it is my choice.” Saber closed his eyes and released a heavy sigh. Then, he looked up towards the sky again.
“My Father taught me how to fight and survive. He made me strong and challenged me. He told me that I should always challenge myself, always better myself because one day, I will have to stand before the Gods and be judged… Every day since, I have done so in some way… Whether I wish to or not, I force myself to take that extra step. I force myself to run another mile, to kill another horde of monsters, to walk down into that extra tunnel because I know that if I don’t, someone else will. Someone else will be stronger, and I fear that the Gods may abandon me for it… that my Father will be unhappy with my choice.”
“But I am not a machine… I feel loneliness when the sun goes down and I have no friends to laugh with like others do. I feel sad when I lose something precious or make a mistake. I feel pain when I am struck or wounded. I feel anger, jealousy, hunger, fear… but I put it all into a box because I know that if I let myself be consumed by any of that, I might take a wrong step, my sword might not swing hard enough, and my arrow may not fly straight enough. I am who I am because I understand this, and because I fear it. For one and for all, until the tower falls… I’ll fight until I die, and swing my sword until I can’t no more.” Saber’s eyes finally closed once he finished and he didn’t open them again. He pulled his lips tight together and then let out a slow breath. He then inhaled deep and let his body relax. As he did so, he straightened his back and tightened the grip of his fingers on his head.

Why was she being this way? Clearly Saber wanted nothing to do with fox tail, so why couldn't she just leave and forget about her experience. The conversation with herself ran over and over in her mind and it just wouldn't go away. She continued to repeat herself more than she should have, but the feeling that he gave her made her resist leaving. It wasn't like she wanted to stay, wanted to get to know him or that she really liked him, especially after he had stab her, and made her almost choke on her own blood. She thought was was going to die. She had expected him to take her life, cut her head off, laugh at the spewing blood, but then a picture of his face popped up in her mind. He had a grimace, as if it pained him to strike her. She had been the one to taught him, a stupid mistake on her part and she had no clue how to PVP anyways, since she didn't like fighting other adventures and definitely not Landers. She let out a quiet sigh but continue to follow him. Okay, so maybe she did want to stay, did want to know him, she was a complete mess of emotions and was contradicting her every thought with every step. She hated the fact that she couldn't understand her own thoughts. It was like they were all over the place, no, not like, definitely were! She wanted to stop thinking, stop her mind from talking to her, stop herself from talking back, but the feud in her head was an on going battle, one she couldn't take control of. Then there were her questions.. Oh god the questions, not even the ones she wanted to ask him, to, the questions she was asking herself were the ones annoying her and she couldn't make them stop. Her brain was an actual curse on her that wouldn't go away, no matter how hard she tried to make it stop working, it continued on.
As she yelled out she saw him turn and then turn back. 'Yup, he definitely thinks I'm an idiot.. but.. at this moment.. I don't disagree.' She shifted her eyes to the ground and continued on behind him, letting out a small sigh as she did so. When did she allow her in game self to be like this? She was acting like her real self, the self conscious person who could never hold a conversation with anyone, or even attempt making friends, or the ones she chose ended up slicing her down, emotionally. She had sworn to herself after that incident, that she wouldn't let anyone like that get close to her again, so why was she trying to get close to Saber. 'He isn't like him, sure, he's a bit of a douche bag, and I'm sure he has reasons, but he isn't like that guy..' Okay, so now her mind was defending him all of a sudden?! Why was her brain so complex? Twisting it's thoughts every which way, never giving her a straight answer. Why did she even bother attempting to decipher it in the first place?! Now she could understand why men always seemed to be confused by women, they always said that they couldn't understand them. Ame felt herself snicker evilly and then tilted her head. 'How could anyone hope to understand such complexity when we ourselves can't even do it?!?!' She let out a long sigh and shook her head. No matter, it was something she shouldn't even be trying to think about anyways, it was just going to give her a head ache, something she really didn't want to deal with at that particular moment. Soon, she found herself stopping in her tracks.
She tilted her head, hearing Saber speak. She raised a brow, wondering what he could mean by his saying, but little did she know, she would find out very soon. She picked up her pace a bit to get closer to him. She didn't want to miss the story that would follow the saying, though she almost didn't expect him to continue. She felt her eyes widen as he began, speaking of how his father had saved him from a bear. She felt shock course through her, but she somehow felt happy that his father had protected him, or he wouldn't be there, with her now. She took a step forwards, her hands pushing themselves out in reaction to him leaning against a tree, but she put them back to her sides as he continued on. She felt worry wash over her and kept her eyes on him, hoping he was alright. He had said that he was tired though, so his exhaustion was probably hitting him worse than it had and she felt at fault. If she hadn't of called him on, he would probably be sleeping safely in town by now, but she couldn't take it back. What had been done, was done and nothing would change it. Even if she wanted to go back and stop her mind from becoming full of the rage she had felt, she thought that she probably wouldn't. She didn't regret it, because now, he was telling her about himself and she would learn why he was the way he was. Her answers would finally be put to rest, maybe not all, but most, and she didn't regret a single moment, no matter how hard her mind tried to convince her otherwise. She still didn't understand why she even cared for his story, but the want to find out about him lingered hard, and she knew that it was something that she truly wanted and she wouldn't deny herself hearing it. She was thankful she hadn't let her own thoughts change her mind to follow him, because if she had, this chance probably never would have arose.
Ame listened to him speak of his father, how he told him of gods, and his heritage. She felt a little jealous that his father had been there to coach him through his existence and tell him about his lineage as she knew nothing about hers. He had died and her mother had left her. She didn't even know where she had come from, or who her true parents were. She wondered if she would ever find out, as she was longing to know more about her past and what had caused her own father to decease, but now wasn't the time for her to divulge in her own thoughts and she relinquished them quickly, knowing that at one point, they would come back into play and she would be forced to once again think of them. Thinking back to his words, she wondered where he came from and what gods governed his life. She wasn't religious, but very spiritualistic and she too believed in gods in some form or another, but she remained silent, only listening for the moment. The, she noticed him look to his right, nod and then head in that direction. She looked over, seeing the flowers shining brightly to them and she followed him, also taking his path, and continuing to listen, happy to receive such insight into his life, something he had pretty much told her she would never have, yet here it was, ringing through her mind. As he continued on with his path she listened to every word he told her that his father had said to him.
Ame wondered where he lived that they would have to fight so often and then the word, Zeus, came through his lips. She had heard the word somewhere before, but, she couldn't quite put her finger on where. She tossed the thought aside as he finished the last line. 'We fight until our enemy can no longer threaten us?' She wanted to burst out with an argument, telling him that he would have to fight forever as there was no way anyone could be out of harm's reach. Death, war and destruction was everywhere, so he would spend his life fighting? The thought was sad to her, but before she could let out an argument, she watched him gesture for her to follow him. She felt her eyes widen as he lightly stepped in the grass, pushing the flowers out of his way. She didn't understand it, but she felt her face flush at the sight and followed his lead, pushing the flowers out of her way as well. She breathed in the air around her, calm and refreshing. The smell of a fresh spring day surrounded her senses and she felt as though she was in all of her glory. The sight of the flower fields always amazed her and she spent the majority of her time here, it was also where she had come from before meeting Saber. Strange that they ended up in these parts, but her 'spot' was a bit away from where they were now. She thought that maybe she should chime in, and tell him of her spot, but he looked exhausted and she didn't want him to have to walk any further than necessary, so she held her tongue, not wanting to ruin the moment, or the chance to hear about his past.
As she continued to listen, she heard him speak of a challenge from Thor, the bear being the said challenge, and she felt her head tilt. 'Thor.. Marvel?' She shook her head, no, couldn't be that. She felt bad about not knowing his culture, but it was something that shouldn't be expected. Not everyone knew each others religions and views on life, take hers for example. Unless people had taken the time to study the ways of the Japanese, they normally knew nothing of it, which didn't bother her, but she made a mental note to study different societies when she was home. Perhaps she could incorporate it into her programming skills and make a game that was completely out of her comfort level. That was a true test of her abilities, to her anyways. Again, she let her mind take over, but shook it off, listening and watching him throw back is cape. She figured that this is the spot that they would post up for the length of time he needed to sleep. She felt her head tilt again, as he grinned and even laughed after telling her that he had hated his family, and who he was, after he had challenged his father and was broken down by him. The thought of said things made her upset, but the laugh, she didn't understand it. She found herself staring at him, her mind wondering what sort of man his father was but as he continued, she began to understand a little. She found herself smiling back, a picture of a young Saber, his character anyways, popping up in her mind and being carried on his father's back. She thought that it might have been a cute scene to witness.
As he continued, she noticed that he spoke of him in the past tense. Perhaps it were only because here, his father was only in his mind, or was it because his father had passed? She wondered if she would ever know, ever find out from the rest of his story. She could tell that Saber looked up to him, as he told her that he strove to be like him, out do him and the thought made her sad. He didn't think he was worth anything, because he wasn't as strong as his father? She understood that most children wanted to be like their parents, and have them be proud, but it seemed as though Saber tortured himself so that he could out do his father. He would sacrifice being lonely, so that he wouldn't see others suffer. She felt a strange, hurt feeling in her chest and she brought her hand up to it, feeling as though tears would swell in her eyes. Perhaps it was because she had always been so lonely herself, that it hurt her more to see others suffer, but she felt for him, deeper than she had expected would happen. She forced her tears back into her eyes as he gave her a light smile and ruffled the hair between her ears. At that moment, she wanted to reach out and touch his face and beg him to let her stay by his side, let her protect him from his loneliness, but she knew the effort would be futile, so instead, she fisted her hands and looked at him with a face wrung with sadness. As he took his hand from her head and lost the smile he had given her, she breathed in deeply. She continued to listen to his words and watch him enter his things into his inventory. As he laid down, she looked at him as he watched the sky.
She lowered herself to the ground and sat to the left of him. As he finished speaking and closed her eyes, the tears began to flow. She had held them in long enough, and with him falling asleep, his body relaxing, she finally felt as though she could let loose. She had been alone for so long, that she did know his pain. It was a dark world when you had no one to light it up, so she wanted to try to light his up, even if it were only when she would meet him throughout the world, on those random occasions that adventurers sometimes found themselves in. It would be something she would strive for, even though it would only be a short time. She wanted to be there for him, whenever she could, but she would do it in secret and never lead him on to her plans. She would try her hardest to make him smile and maybe even laugh once and a while, even though it wouldn't happen this time. She breathed in lightly, sobbing as quietly as she could and she wiped her tears away quickly. She shook her feelings off and bent over, reaching her lips to his forehead, kissing it softly. She sighed as she came back up and, as gently as she could, slipped her hands under his and lifted his head, slipping her legs underneath and then placing him down gently on them. He would find it was a mush softer pillow than that of his fingers, but if chose to keep his hands there, placed between her thighs and his head, she wouldn't mind it, but she hoped that she didn't disturb his slumber too much and she hoped that he would allow her to be his pillow, if only for a short time. Then, she let her mind take her away.
She felt herself lean back, the palms of her hand placed on the ground as she looked around. A few boars were grazing in the distance, so she figured they wouldn't notice them for a long while, if they even did at all. She breathed softly and looked up to the sky, letting her thoughts find their way into her head. 'So, you have begun to feel for him, eh?' She let out a small, quiet sigh and closed her eyes for a moment. 'I don't know how I feel. Right now, I just want to be by his side.. But what about the other?' Ame pursed her lips and opened her eyes, once again staring up to the sky. 'What do you mean? I still like him.. He's amazing.. Strong, smart, good looking, not that that really matters.. But if you choose this one, you break his heart and send the guild into a frenzy of awkward tensions.. I- I know that, but..' She looked down at Saber's sleeping face and then to the ground above her legs, where his head laid. 'Why does it matter.. you said he wouldn't have me, even if I wanted it.. He said it himself, he'd rather be alone.. So why does it actually matter how I feel, if I have no chance in the first place.. Will your heart just accept that, what you say? Now that you know his past, could you just move on and look him in the eyes like you didn't care for someone else?' She felt her eyes close again, as she took in a deep breath. She shook her head. 'I- I don't know.. Probably not.. You know you couldn't.. Why the hell do I have to be this way? Why is it that I can't just walk away.. Do you wish he had never told you about himself, his father? No, that's not it.. I'm glad.. But wouldn't it have made your decision a little easier? Will you chase after a ghost for your life here? What about the plans you both made? Will you turn a blind eye to those?' She almost yelled out again, but as her eyes opened and her mouth followed them, she looked down and sighed lightly. 'Can you just shut up and leave me alone already? Will my own mind torture me until I make a decision? Even after, will you harass me that I've made the wrong one if I choose to chase him? Actually, I already know the answer.. Don't let go of your wishes Ame, make sure you are right before you let anyone get hurt..' With that, her thoughts ceased and she found herself looking back to the fields, where the boars grazed. Sometimes, she wished she could be that carefree. Oh, to stand in the open fields, not a worry or a care. But of course, the human mind couldn't be that simple. She knew that what would happen, would happen, but she didn't want to hurt anyone and she didn't think she should have to chase after anyone either, but she would have to make up her mind at some point, or risk losing her sanity over the matter.
