Her herbology book, written by People of the Land, claimed that this flower could cure an array of illnesses, and in some cases could even bring the dead back to life. She had been skeptical when she first read it, but after talking to a few older Landers, her curiosity shot up tenfold. Perhaps there was something to this old wives' tale, after all.
Fiver was accompanying her, and though he was no longer in her servitude, this trip felt like old times. He was mostly glad to be running about outside of the atrium, regardless of how dangerous these wide, open spaces could be. Monsters often did not think too far ahead in their future, and many of them, like animals, lived in the moment. Fiver was that kind of monster, and even if he were to meet a brier weasel or nepent snatcher along the way, having gone on exciting adventures would be enough. He was probably aging, too, or at least an adult by now. He had still been fairly young when they met, guarded by an overprotective mother.
The only other light besides the moon was the orb of light hovering just above Capsule's shoulder. This was her magic light, and it was wearing what she supposed was a parody of her expression. If the little light wasn't so cute, she would think it was mocking her, though did it even possess an ounce of sentience? Sometimes she really wondered… ”Magic light…” Her voice trailed off as she turned her head to address the luminescent orb. ”Can you talk?”
The light just blinked and stared dumbly back at her. Okay, so maybe it wasn't capable of speech? She stopped long enough to consider making faces at the magic light, in hope of witnessing its ability to mimic, but it would look downright awkward if some other night bird were to pass by the two of them. Capsule lightly shook her head. Fiver would no doubt disapprove as well. The rabbit was smart enough to know when his mistress was up to no good, after all.
The small group came to a stop just outside a grove of what appeared to be apple trees. Fiver immediately dived into the cluster of trees, and with some fervent digging and searching, came back with a fallen apple. Capsule strode over to one of the trees, and plucked as many apples as she could carry.
Once satisfied with her haul, the Enchanter sat down on a tree stump, and took out her recently acquired butterfly knife, Rousseau. Normally she would leave all of the chopping and dicing to her beloved kukri, but that was generally only for herbs and the like. Fiver nestled beside her feet as she began to slowly half the apples, and softly squeaked in contentment when slices were handed over to him.
The two of them snacked on their apple slices in peace, occasionally bathed in moon light when Capsule's light went out. Perhaps it was time to invest in a mana lamp? Scoria was apparently an Alchemist now, so he could help her out if she asked. A portable light that did not have a short cool down would be nice.
Capsule was just getting ready to collect and store the rest of the apples for later, when a low moan sounded somewhere up ahead. She froze in place, and Fiver did the same, only the tips of his ears flickering ever so slightly. "You heard it too, didn't you?"
"Yeah. Do you have any idea what it is?"
Fiver shook his head. "Whatever it is, it sounds really big. I think it's a monster."
A monster, huh? Well, they were in a video game world. That was kind of a given. This monster sounded injured, though, so what could possibly be the harm in inspection? She was an Enchanter, and knew her away around danger when she spotted in. "Come on. We'll go check it out." With a weary sigh and half-assed attempt to comb his ears, Fiver hopped and darted out front, leaving Capsule to trail behind.

Capsule shuddered slightly as a chilly wind blew past, through the cloak carelessly draped around her shoulders, and under the cloth armor beneath. It had once been summer, but now it was starting to feel like autumn. In front of her, Fiver darted around tree roots and the coiled tails of sleeping brier weasels, who were sticking close to the trees or laying at the entrance of their burrows. The weasels were of little concern to this higher leveled Adventurers, though she still held some reservations when it came to the level forty six beasties.
At some point, the trees around them became shabbier and worn down, a few of them sporting deep gashes or missing branches. Capsule felt that this was the work of some large beast, or possibly a bored Adventurer who had tried "sparring" with their tree trunks. She felt that the gross misuse of wildlife and nature was just… tawdry. Why not find an actual person or wooden test dummy to spar with? Normally she would just tsk tsk and shake her head in disapproval, but the carnage grew worse and worse. Not only the trees were ruined; the ground around them was turn up in pieces, mostly forming unnavigable pits and shallow holes. ”Ugh. This is hella rude. They may only be trees, but still. This is so uncalled for.”
"Capsule, I have a bad feeling about this… Something bad happened here. I think we should go." That seemed evident by the rows of dead snakes hanging from the branches. Capsule had mistook them for thick vines at first, but a close look at one made her yelp and jump back in alarm. These were garden snakes, weren't they? "Capsule!" The rabbit sat up on his hind legs, and began rapidly thumping the ground with a back paw. Fiver rarely did this, and on the times he did, it was to alert his mistress of some grave danger. It then occurred to Capsule that she had not seen or heard a living creature for nearly five minutes now - only the overbearing silence and gloom heavy air around them prevailed.
”Shit.”
They had come to a stop before the only intact tree - a rather large and old one, by the looks of it. The destruction was absolutely lacking within five feet all around the massive tree. There was something ominous about this monster tree. Capsule, who did not consider herself to be spiritual whatsoever, could not help but detect a dark aura radiating from its branches and trunk. Hanging just below the tree's mane of leaves, she spotted a large tag that bore the words "Savage Sycamore" in bold, red lettering. Beside that title was the number "twenty." Capsule could not suppress a gulp as she admired this impressive creature. Level twenty or not, it was an elite mob, which made it effectively level twenty five.
The silence in the area erupted into an unbearable roar as the tree seemed to come alive. ”BACK FOR MORE, ARE YOU?! BRING IT ON, FOOLISH ADVENTURER! THE GREAT MAOKAI SHALL HAVE HIS REVENGE!” Capsule and Fiver jumped to opposite sides, diving to the ground as a large glob of sap soared past the air where they had once stood. The ground beneath them shook with tremendous force as the tree shot forward at startlingly high speed. ”WRECK MY FOREST AND MUTILATE MY CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, HUH?! WHY DON'T WE SEE WHAT ONE GOOD TURN DONE ONTO ANOTHER FEELS LIKE!”
Capsule rolled to the side, just narrowly avoiding what she hoped was not a huge, root foot. The Savage Sycamore sounded pissed, and rightfully so. Weren't monsters like these supposed to be… less willing to attack something or someone that exceeded them in level? Or was this tree too riled up to think straight? And who was the asshole who had pissed this ginormous tree off, anyway? As much as she felt bad for the tree and his brethren, she was not just going to lie here and let him kill her or Fiver. If she could not calm him down, then she would just have to try and kill him, though she had a feeling that that was easier said than done.

Please, Mr. Tree - Maokai - let us be-” Normally this skill would lower a monster's aggro by one level. An aggressive monster would become predatory, a predatory monster would become wary, etc. The Savage Sycamore, however, was clearly out of his mind with rage. Capsule wanted to punt the scrub responsible for this carnage.
”I WILL TEAR YOU ASUNDER! I CARE NOT FOR LEVELS OR STATUS! YOU WILL BE LUCKY TO LEAVE THIS LAND ALIVE!” Yeah, there was no reasoning with this guy at all. Capsule was really not keen on the idea of killing him, since he was the victim and all, but ugh. There really was no way around it, was there? She could only hope that Fiver managed to get out of harm's way, and was now starting to regret releasing him from her service. She could have desummoned the rabbit out of danger, but alas.
Dobby was an option, too, but Meenah was level thirty. She had a bit of an advantage against the tree, stat wise. Capsule rolled out of the way of Maokai's swinging "fists," and with one smooth gesture released the Sahaugin Brute from her slot. Meenah cheered and stretched her arms above her head, and just as quickly dropped them. «WHAT THE GLUB?! DA HELL IS DAT THING?!»
”Never you mind what it is! Just fight it,” she commanded.
Meenah pulled her lips back in a snarl, though offered up no further argument. The fish like monster knew when it was time to shut up and fight, at least. «Yo, plank looking monster! Catch!» The Sahaugin called forth a great blob of water, and with some rapid hand movements, shaped it into something that resembled a water based trident. She then pulled the weapon back, and launched it hard into the air, aiming at the rampaging tree's back. She now wore something akin to a vicious smile, a smile that quickly fell into one of despair. «Oh, MOTHERGLUBBER!» Capsule was quieter with her curses. Swearing was not going to get them out of trouble, especially now that it seemed that the tree had natural resistance to water based attacks. ”Sorry, Meenah!” Meenah's face was still contorted into one of panic when Capsule called her back to her slot.
A low roar filled the air as Dobby took Meenah's spot, and Capsule wasted no time it scrabbling up on his back. There would be little the golem could actually do against the tree. Capsule figured that she would need to involve fire somehow, and she only had one item like that in her possession - her recently approved corrosive poison. The only problem would be getting it onto the golem, and the fact that it would likely not do much by way of damage.
The Golem Sentinel moved with a grace and speed that one would have thought impossible for monsters of his height and girth, navigating himself and the Enchanter out of the tree's murderous swipes. Dobby occasionally threw up his arms to shield the two of them from the spray of seeds. Capsule used Astral Wall to briefly relieve the golem, but to also cast Gehenna Swarm.
With the dark orbs swarming around her and Dobby, Capsule quickly dug into her inventory for the corrosive poison. She shook the container and then tossed it with all of her might at the tree. An inhuman scream of pain and terror rent the air, but Capsule was not done yet. While the tree was reeling about, moaning in pain, the Enchanter casted Prismatic Laser.
The white orb that materialized over her head split into several smaller orbs, and in conjunction with the dark orbs of Gehnna Swarm, lashed out and onto the tree. Capsule wrapped her arms around Dobby's shoulders as the multicolored caused the earth to quake. The tree, utterly confused and dazed by now, began to topple over. Rather than allow him to crash into the ground, however, Capsule softened his fall with Nightmare Sphere.
Dobby shuffled a step or to back, while Capsule bound the tree in place with Thorn Bind Hostage – not that she really needed to. The tree was just lying there, almost as if he was dead to the world. Was he calm now? Or was he merely injured and biding his time? ”Move forward, Dobby. I want to check on injuries.” The golem hesitated for only a moment, and then shuffled closer to the downed tree.

She could not see him, but it was probably safe to assume that the rabbit was all right. He had survived the danger that was the Maledict Mayahuel; that was no mere luck on his part. The rabbit was crafty enough to avoid obvious signs of danger, coupled with his quick reflexes. "Capsule, why are you running towards him?! He's crazy and dangerous-"
”Crazy, am I?” With the fall had gone the tree's booming baritone. The Enchanter reckoned that he was a bit calmer now, but still ordered Dobby to be prepared for anything. The golem gave a simple nod of his head as he trundled ever so closer. ”What are you tiptoeing around for? Kill me and be quick about it, why don't you!” The tree issued a soft sigh of resignation. ”I made the foolish error of attacking something far greater than my strength allows. WELL?! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!”
Capsule hopped down from Dobby's back, to put herself at the tree's level, and to avoid the appearance of looking down on him, like someone who felt superior. ”I don't want to kill you,” she said. I didn't even want to attack you in the first place, but you were really pushy, you know? I had to defend myself. She knelt down beside the tree's massive head, turning her eyes to focus on the health bar below his name. The combined efforts of the corrosive poison and Prismatic Laser had done a number on the monster's health, but he should be able to lick his wounds and heal, so to speak.
”Hmmph, I find THAT hard to believe!” Now he was just behaving like a surly child, though Capsule did not mind, so long as he did not get aggressive again.
”Trust me - I'm more inclined to help. I'm a Pharmacist, and I try to respect the plants and herbs I use. If I didn't, there would be little left for me to draw future resources.” She slowly reached out, and gingerly placed the palm of one hand against the tree's trunk. Maokai winced, but did not shrug her hand off. ”I can help you hunt down the people responsible, or heal these trees, if you would prefer. Are they treants, as well?”
Almost a full minute passed by before the tree spoke. ”You can deal with the brutes responsible later. I would like to see my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren tended to, first. They won't be able to defend themselves, otherwise, and I can only do so much.”
”Are all of them treants, or are some just - I mean, non-sentient trees?”
”It's a fair mixture of both, but the regular ones are a bit thinner. The treants… the ones that weren't killed in the massacre… are rightfully afraid and cowering amongst them.” Maokai turned his head ever so slightly, shifting downcast eyes onto Capsule. ”How could someone like you possibly help them, though?”
To this, Capsule smiled. ”I told you, Maokai! I am a Pharmacist. I make potions designed to heal or be used for utilitarian purposes. That, and I would have an easier time cleaning up the debris.” She held up her small hands for Maokai's observation. ”Assuming that the culprits do not come back, I can clean up, identify the injured, and then figure out the best way to heal them. I'll leave Dobby to help you keep watch for intruders, and Fiver can help listen out, too.”
”…That sounds rather farfetched, but it's not like I have much of a choice.” He rolled over onto what she guessed to be his shoulder. ”Well, what are you waiting for? Get to it!”

From the corner of her eye, Capsule could see the ancient treant struggling to pull himself up onto his feet. From behind him scampered Fiver, who immediately moved to her side, slowing down to a light hop once the two were abreast of each other. In the dark night, she could see the whites of his eyes with ease. "Tharn," he sputtered out. "Absolutely tharn! What were you thinking, getting so close to that brute?! He could have killed you!"
”Oh, Fiver! You worry far too much, you know that? The Savage Sycamore was upset because his home and family were assaulted. He's one of the predatory types, but even they are capable of being mad with grief.” She made a mental note of that in her head for later. Odds are, she might run into another elite mob like Maokai, so she would have to be prepared for future encounters. Dystopian Vice would definitely come in handy if she found herself at odds with another Savage Sycamore.
Fiver harrumphed to himself, clearly unimpressed. "Whatever. I suppose it's all right, if he can behave himself." The rabbit paused to pick up a stick with his mouth. Capsule had to press a hand against her mouth to stifle a giggle. Seeing a rabbit carry a stick like a dog was just… it was ridiculously silly!
She bent over to collect a few fallen twigs and branches herself, and Fiver dropped his lone stick on a clean patch of grass, before scampering off to seize another. It was slow going with only the two of them, but sped up some when Dobby lent his assistance. The golem collected much larger branches, and picked up young saplings from the ground. Capsule tied the saplings to sturdier trees with bits of vine, while Dobby held them up for her.
Quite a few of the saplings had squirmed around when being handled, and each and every last one of them offered up some sound, be it whimpering, sobbing, or soft cries of fear. It almost broke Capsule's heart to hear the young treants go on so. 'Poor things…' These trees could hardly defend themselves, so it was up to the adults to look after them. They might as well have been regular trees, minus their slight ability to move their small branches or twitch their leaves.
Once the saplings were rooted back in place and slowly starting to recuperate from the trauma, Capsule moved on to clearing the area around the adult trees, and assessed the severity of their wounds. Dobby hoisted her up onto his back so that she could pull the mangled bodies of dying snakes and weasels from their branches, while Fiver made up a pallet that consisted of fallen twigs, leaves and powdered dirt. It wasn't much, but it would serve as a pallet for the injured animals. ”Try to relax, little guys. I'll whip up something for you, okay?” She honestly had no idea if she could follow up on that claim, but she damn sure was going to try.

She did this by spreading her blanket out on the ground, and then sat down on it to dispense her tools of the trade: her mortar and pestle, the flower pot named "Hemlock Grove," her kukri, a few herbs, and an impure solvent.
Fiver, who was used to this sight by now, curled up on a bare corner of the blanket, and lowered his head to nip at some grass. The rescued animals, however, observed with as much curiosity as they could manage in their wounded states. For the first time in their lives, these wild monsters would be viewing a Pharmacist at work. Capsule certainly did not want to disappoint, either.
The redhead picked up a healing herb and began to carefully chop and dice it into small pieces, using a bit of flattened wood as a chopping board. The sound of the knife touching the board made a few of the monsters wrinkle their nose at her in minor annoyance. Capsule ignored this as she moved on from one herb to the next, and finally ceased chopping altogether to collect the diced pieces.
These pieces were scattered around the bowl of her mortar. She cupped the sturdy bowl in one hand, and seized the pestle with the other. The soft sound of grounding and light pounding followed, though the monsters were notably less bothered by it. Capsule was honestly more worried about how they would take to the medicine. She was no Chef, though, so she could not properly mask the medicinal taste. Perhaps she could sneak the medicine in via food, or something? It would definitely be much safer than trying to force the monster to swallow the tablets. Oh well. She would figure something out.
After ensuring that the herbs were finely grounded up, Capsule shifted the contents of her mortar around, and then pulled out an empty vial from her squid plush. Before she could sift the freshly ground powder into it, however, something warm and soft began rubbing itself against her knee. Capsule blinked down at the animal – no, that was a monster; a Frenmic Rabbit, as a matter of fact. It was also not Fiver, which was what had surprised her the most.
The Frenmic Rabbit was a deep brown, almost the color of chocolate. Judging by its diminutive state and softer features, Capsule judged that it was female. She would not know for sure unless she sexed it, of course, but she was hardly in a position to do so right now. ”Can I help you with something, little rabbit?” Her Tongue of Nature skill was almost never toggled off for purposes such as this one.
The little rabbit’s trembling body sent light vibrations through Capsule’s leg. ”I heard what you said earlier. Is it true? My mate was killed because of the trouble earlier, and my back leg...” The rabbit attempted to sit up on her back legs, only to stumble to the side. ”If there is anything you can do to help me, I would greatly appreciate it.” On his corner of the blanket, Fiver’s ear twitched and turned in the direction of the rabbit’s voice.
”Of course. I’ll do whatever I can… do you have a name?”
”Y-yes. It is Virthuril. ” At the sound of the rabbit’s name, Fiver lifted his head and turned to gaze at her, for he could indeed tell that it was a doe. The sound of a dead mate intrigued him even more, however, and meant that he would not have to fight a possibly stronger buck off to claim the doe as his own. Oh yes – he was going to claim her. It was too good of a match to pass up, considering their individual namesakes.

The idea was fairly simple; it would be related to the medicinal tablets, but with a slightly lower potency. There seemed to be a small influx of Animal Trainers lately, so the pet medication should definitely come in handy - unless more people flocked to Chefs for pet food, however. The recipe restored health over fifteen second intervals, and scaled in "grades". There were also a few restrictions placed on it, though. Capsule wanted something more… accessible? Was that the word she was looking for?
The Enchanter's mind was filled with endless possibilities as she went about adding the powder to the vial. She gently shook the vial from side to side, trying to even it out so that she could properly measure it. Once satisfied, she picked up the impure solvent and slowly poured it into the vial, using a thin stirrer to evenly distribute the ingredients. Virthuril tilted her head to one side as she watched, apparently fascinated by the woman's craft.
”Is that going to heal my leg, ” the doe timidly ventured.
"Of course it will," Fiver suddenly piped up. "Capsule is the greatest Pharmacist ever! If she can't heal you, no one can." The rabbit was now sitting up and facing his mistress and the other rabbit. He was rarely this animated. Capsule looked from Fiver to the pretty little Virthuril. "Go on, Capsule! Prove to this stunning young doe that you have what it takes!"
'She hasn't even been single for that long, Fiver,' she thought in exasperation. ”Like I said before, I will do what I can, but I cannot do is make a promise.” Her voice softened a bit as she nodded and smiled at Virthuril. ”Your health should regenerate on its own soon enough, but if I can expediate the process, I shall.” Virthuril would make the perfect test subject.
After mixing the solvent and powder, Capsule set the vial aside and scattered a bit of small, broken twigs and leaves into the bottom of the flower pot. She then lit the kindling with a match, and set the vial inside. Pharmacists would normally roll up the concoction into pills and place them in an oven to bake, but Capsule did not have access to one right now. So she would just leave them to dry a bit before distributing them to the inured monsters. In this situation, it would be much easier for them to have a soft tablet to chew on. It would dissolve faster, for one, even with just saliva. Perhaps later she would make a new batch and toss those into the oven, but hard tablets would obviously need to be either force fed or hidden in food.

She slowly stirred the mixture, and then sprinkled in some residue from the chopped herbs into the container. This was done to thicken up the mixture, and thus make it easier to form and keep its shape once rolled. Capsule added in more and more of the powder until the tiny dab on her finger was thick enough to roll into a ball.
Memories of researching medicinal pastilles with Caerbannog came to mind as she poured a bigger amount of the sticky goo into the palm of her hand. She rolled this little blob on her wooden board, until it had formed into a tablet, and set it aside to dry. More and more tablets followed, leaving a good chunk of the small board covered with them. Virthuril's nostrils twitched as she sniffed the tablets from afar. Capsule could not tell if the rabbit approved of the tablets or not. Her feelings may not have been desirable, though, for Fiver was speaking in reassuring tones to her. He had lapsed back into his accent heavy Lapine language, which she had some difficulty understanding.
Capsule just shrugged and went back to her task. She picked up what appeared to be a little petri dish, and set fire to a bunch of tiny twigs and roots lining it. This was then moved over and around the tablets, slightly warming them. It was not a very effective method, but what else did she have to help? It seemed to continue on for the longest time, though the tablets were at least partially dry by now. They were also a bit harder, and less prone to losing their shape when held.
”Who wants to be the first to try,” she teased as she waved one of the tablets in the air. It was obviously going to be the new rabbit on the block. ”Virthuril, do you mind?” She extended her arm out towards the rabbit, who leaned forward and cautiously sniffed at the proffered tablet. ”Don't worry, it's safe.” Or so she hoped.
”Um, I suppose I could give it a try… It smells like herbs from the ground, but then there's a foreign substance…” the doe timidly ventured.
”It's just the solvent. It won't hurt you, all right?”
Virthuril hesitated for a few more moments, before stretching her neck out and lightly biting into the tablet. She pulled her head back, taking the tablet with her. The rabbit spent the next few moments chewing, wrinkling her nose all the while. Capsule monitored the rabbit's health, and noted that her health bar was steadily rising. As for her leg, she could not say the same. Virthuril was still sitting in a position that favored her other side.
”All right, can you try walking for me again?”
The rabbit nodded and stood up, shifting her weight around to place it on her bad leg. She gave a soft cry of surprise at the apparent lack of pain there, and even performed a light, sideways hop. Fiver was sitting up on his haunches nearby, clapping his forepaws together in applause. "See?! What did I tell ya! Capsule is a miracle worker!"

One by one, Capsule stooped beside each and every injured monster, and coerced them into eating a singular tablet. The Brier Weasels took better to the soluble tablets, but the Garden Snakes were fussier. Despite them being weak from their injuries, they hissed and squirmed as she tried to heal them. In the end, she had to force the pills down their throats, and hold their mouths shut until they ceased their struggle and swallowed their medicine.
The snakes were rather grumpy afterwards, but slowly slithered off into the forest as Capsule began tending to the trees next. They… they lacked (visible) mouths per se, so she had no idea how to feed them their pills. She had to get creative about it, and sort of mashed the pills up and pasted them over their torn bark. The (literally) living trees softly groaned in relief as the healing agents flooded their bodies.
A few of the treants even ripped open their trunks, exposing mouths with long, tentacle like tongues when she approached. The trust they emanated was strong as they gobbled up their share of pills and sat back to await the healing factor. Capsule was relieved to see that they were getting better, but for the young saplings she did not know what to do. The medicine did not exactly work for them as it did on the adults, nor were they displaying actual health bars. In the end, the Pharmacist decided to search for water to aid their healing process. Water was a tree's food, after all.
Leaving Fiver to play with Virthuril, Capsule wandered off. She spotted a small stream about two minutes away, and it opened up into a river the further she got along. A small bucket was retrieved from Capsule's inventory, some took she had borrowed from a Lander a while ago, and had forgotten to return. It was a good thing, too; she could make lesser trips with this bucket, and not have to do several trips with a much smaller container.
The young saplings slightly vibrated in the air as the roots at their feet were doused on all sides with water. Capsule could even spot a few wriggling up to the surface, tasting and snapping at the small pool of water. A few of the adult treants demanded the water treatment as well, which Capsule did not mind complying with. The only issue was when a few of the trees began shambling towards her, making demands faster than she could complete. They would have ran all over her, too, had it not been for Maokai.
”OI! One at a time, you lot! Don't be getting greedy now, ya here?!” Maokai's relatives simmered down, though not without some grumbling among themselves. The Savage Sycamore waved a large and heavy branch at Capsule. ”Do you have any more of those miracle pills, lass? I could do with one or two to rebuild my strength.” He would certainly need it, if he was going to protect this area on his own.
Capsule dug out two of the last four pills, and placed them in the Sycamore's huge hand. Maokai narrowed his eyes down at the little pills before tossing them into his mouth, and dug in his roots to digest them. It was slow coming, but the tree's health rose back into a good number, enough so that he would only need an hour at the most to regenerate the rest by himself. He nodded down at Capsule, a faint smile appearing on his face. ”That will do, Cap. That will do.”

The full moon had come and past by then, which of course meant that the time for picking mythical flowers was long gone. Was she disappointed about that? Yes, yes she was. She was, however, glad that she had stopped to tend to the plants and animals, and not simply run off after outwitting Maokai. Oh well. That flower was sure to be blooming next time, provided that someone else did not come along and pluck it first.
Capsule desummoned her loyal Golem Sentinel butler, Dobby, and called for Fiver to come by her side. The rabbit glanced in her direction, then looked back at Virthuril. When he turned back to Capsule again, Fiver's eyes were full of mixed emotions. He had obviously taken quite a shine to the doe, and did not want to leave her side. Capsule wondered if the rabbit could be persuaded to come with them, despite being a wild rabbit and not used to the life of domestication. Fiver had been fairly young when he was recruited, and had since spent so much time with Capsule that his wild side had been largely tamed. Virthuril, on the other hand...
”Virthuril,” she started, seeing as how Fiver was not going to say anything to convince her. ”Would you like to return home with us? We have a good chunk of land, and even an indoor atrium, with lots of birds, plants, and as much soil for you two to build your own burrow or warren in.”
Virthuril lowered her head as she went over the offer. ”It sounds lovely, but I don't know. Would it only be me and Fiver? I was raised in a warren, you know, but me and my mate left with a few others after some men came. Only two rabbits in a warren could get… mighty lonely.”
"It doesn't have to be!" Fiver stood up on his haunches, swiping a paw through the air. "We can start a litter and form our very own warren, from scratch! And Capsule could always recruit some other rabbits, you know? And the atrium! It also doubles as a garden! That means all the cabbages you could eat!"
The doe lightly thumped her foot in excitement. ”Ah, cabbages! I do love a nice, plump cabbage! We used to raid a farm not so far away from here. They were so lovely, though…” One needed to only observe the doe's drooping ears and recall the story of her previous warren.
"You don't have to worry about farmers, bae! Capsule and the others won't mind if we take a cabbage or two for ourselves, right, Capsule?"
Capsule nodded. ”Of course. The garden there is for the creatures that inhabit it. All I ask is that you leave the herbs and roots for me, alright? I need those for my crafting and research.” She could set those up in an enclosed area, if necessary, but hoped that Fiver and whatever brood he established with the doe would stay out, regardless.
Virthuril looked more willing to go now, having been reassured by Fiver and Capsule. Capsule held out a hand for both, a small smile lighting up her face. ”Come on, you two. Let's go home.” The rabbits were much too short and Capsule much too tall for them to hold hands and paws, but they hopped up to join her on either side. A magic light was summoned up to help light their way, and the three of them set off, homeward bound.
