His grandson exaggerated some features - he no longer is the tall man that he was when he was younger, and he was given a hunched position (not *too* bad or out of the ordinary, though). His hair, greying and the last wisps of brown hair turning grey and white, is too, exaggerated in-game: this time, his grandson gave him very full, white hair that fel down his shoulders. The beard he had, too, grew to an extraordinary length for the game and reaches a bit past his belly. He kept his eyes the same, however. He had hazel eyes that didn't age much in his life. Old_Toby is glad about that, especially when he looks at his own reflections while in Elder Tale - it gives him a peace of mind that he's himself, and this isn't a bad dream. He looks like your stereotypical, fantasy old man. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Old_Toby is as his player was in real life: his owner isn't one to go through the taxing gymnastics it is to create a whole persona for himself. Old_Toby was a quiet boy while he was, well, a boy. Soon entering college and law school lead him to be a well-rounded man: a socialite at times, a decent student (~3.0 GPA average, don't ask him about his freshman year!), but kept to himself at times as well. He wasn't bright. At his best, he was above-average. But he took solace in the fact that he wasn't dumb, so he thought. College was grueling, and law school even more so. He kept up countless nights studying to pass a class while at school. He did well under-pressure, though, while stressed. He craves those nights every now and then, since it was a very "humbling experience" as he says. Old_Toby is a softy sometimes. He has kept a personal garden for most of his adult life and is very mindful of nature and the environment. He is normally blunt and forward with what he wants, he doesn't like skirting around issues--bull shitting issues annoyed him when he was a judge. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Old_Toby's user had a decent childhood. Youngest child, the baby of the family. He did decent in school throughout his entire life, and although university and law school were grueling experiences for him, he graduated with a law degree - albeit, it aged him a bit. ... All the hard work paid off, however, once he made it onto the bar. With the exception of a few spots in life, he lived comfortably as a lawyer - a DA for most of his life. He met his wife, a judge, in his late 20s. He became a judge later in life, even going up the circuit courts for a while before retiring early with his wife. He had an okay family - his wife, he loved very much, and his children just as much. He had three children - two boys and a girl, with the girl being the oldest. She was the bright one of the bunch, very much like her mother and she delved into mathematics and physics and teaches at a local college right now, if Old_Toby remembers right. His middle child has always been a... hassle. Julian. He got into trouble throughout school and hit a rough spot after he passed high school--barely, might Old_Toby add--that left him in jail for a night. The experience was sobering and thankfully he's been picking his life up afterwards, taking up all various sorts of odd jobs to get himself his own place. Right now he has a small business and is doing fine, and he and Old_Toby are now very close with eachother. His youngest was a kid who was lost in books. He introduced him into these things he'd always get caught up in--this one time in the 80s or 90s he remembered being bugged by him to play this game called "Magic", which admittedly had some very nice artwork. Old_Toby was too busy to play most of the time though, but he did manage a game to placate his son. It was what they did to spend time with eachother when he came back home from college on holidays or breaks. Old_Toby remembers another time when his son introduced him to "Dungeons and Dragons" and although he felt very silly playing it the first few times, he actually quite liked the game. He didn't show it though, a geezer like him didn't feel like he should drown in those types of games, he'd lose his job in heartbeat if he did--imagine all the time he'd sink on hobbies instead of his work! After a while though, his kids left and he didn't see them much. They visited during the holidays, sure, but they had their own lives. Old_Toby and Missus_Old_Toby, once retired, decided to travel the U.S. (their birth place / home / where they grew up) while they still could. Along the way they'd stop by their children's homes for a week or two. A month and a half into the trip, when they were on the west coast (in Washington), they stopped by his youngest son's home. His son, his husband, and their adopted son welcomed them home, and they planned to stay there for two weeks while they explored the Washington area. Old_Toby caught a nasty flu and had to stay in bed for a while, however. His son brought out some of his old games he used to play (he still does, but not so much anymore) and they played a bit of Magic and DnD with the people at home for a weekend. Back on his feet after 3-4 days, Old_Toby's wife falls sick! The three and a half men doted on her and had her as comfortable as possible while she fought the flu--thankfully she recovered in around the same time as Old_Toby did. In those few days, tough, Old_Toby's son introduced him to a new game he's been playing lately: Elder Scrolls. This was an online video game, and although Old_Toby definitely marveled and tried his hand at Pong and Space Invaders when he was much younger, this was a completely different game. You have a persistent character in a persistent world. Old_Toby was introduced to the game and persuaded to try it for a night with his son and grandson--his grandson on his lap, helping him identify things on the screen for him and giving him both good and bad advice. His grandson also helped design his avatar while Old_Toby's son described the world to him. Since his son was also computer savvy, he made characters for themselves on the new server in the EU--the UK server, since it's a fresh new place that will have lots of new people, and he won't have to worry about Old_Toby getting rekt in an instance. And so Old_Toby became stuck in the game. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"] Old_Toby is left-handed in real life, but right-handed in the game. He's still trying to get used to that, although his dexterity hasn't been thrown too off. |
