[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]Aquila [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Laura Maes [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 19 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Homosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Juubei Yagyuu, Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Tsuyuri [attr="class","bi2"]FACTION: Adventurer [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]When one first glances at Laura, it would be rather easy for one to say that her appearance contradicts her nature. Standing at five feet and seven inches tall Laura has a tall and slender build frame. A brief glance at her skin easily betrays the fact that she's an outdoors person. A healthy tan, some darker patches of skin, remnants from past brawls she has been involved in seem to be some of the telltales of her past adventures. To go further into detail about her features. A pair of large yellow-colored irises can be found in her eyes, often looking around with a hint of mischief or excitement in them. Her hair is a rather noticeable color, long locks of a dark red, bordering to a crimson color tend to flow down her shoulders, kept in place in the form of a tail alongside some hair accessory. On terms of outfit the girl is prone to prioritize clothes that sit well, rather than look nice. Shorts or T-shirts often seem to gain the preference over dresses or formal uniforms. While Laura's avatar in Elder Tale was modeled after her real life appearance, she did try to make herself look a bit more feminine, but that seems to be countered by her choice of outfits. Laura has always held a fondness for cool-looking attires, and as someone of the Samurai class she often tends to wear plate-armor that resembles the type of gear a Samurai might had actually worn during the feudal period of Japan. Of course outside of adventures the young woman likes to wear more casual outfits, and still prefers to wear unisex clothes instead of the cute attires. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]They say a lion doesn't know fear, and that the heart of a lion beats within Laura. Laura is a brave and courageous individual. However, this trait, against all expectations was not a natural thing for the woman to possess. Rather, it unfolded during her time alongside Margaret, the close camaraderie they held nurturing her growth into the woman she is today. Seeing her as an example in how she never cowered in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds or the fact she never was one to back off from a challenge, Laura is the type of girl who upholds the virtue of courage and admires it in others. However, most important is the knowledge that she would consider the lack of it a flaw. While her childhood might had unfolded in a way she had not desired, the fact that she has been given a second chance at living in the form of her life inside Elder Tale has given Laura a passion for the unknown and challenges. She is the type of girl who is prone to travel to a foreign land, just to see what awaits her there. In the end, if she refused to explore the possibilities her new life has to offer then she would end up getting at a standstill, and everyone knows that in a world like ours moving forwards is necessary if you wish to survive. Curiously enough her down to earth attitude seems to often cause people to see her as a truly confident and pleasant to interact with woman. The type of person you can easily converse with while she displays a relaxed and often delightfully social demeanor. Having experienced firsthand what sort of things can happen to a person when they are encouraged and helped one can say that Laura is often prone to take on a distant mentor-like attitude toward those she considers weaker than her, especially children. In the end she considers it a mutually beneficial choice, because the weaker individual increased their chance for survival, and she herself obtains a potential ally. However, her method of encouragement might be a bit harsh, for she believes that people nurture the best on barren soil, and that means to improve from enduring hardships. An aspect of her personality that tends to naturally blend in with her pride, Laura is often rather arrogant in the sense that she overestimates herself. She might not think lowly of others; it's just that she thinks really highly about herself. As someone who often stood in the spotlight during fights, only outmatched by her mentor caused Laura to manifest this trait. She often considers herself capable of doing more than people imagine she can, and often this manifests in her inability to properly calculate her own capacities when it comes to a battle. The type of girl who lives in the here and now Laura is often prone to act the moment an opportunity shows itself rather than waiting to see things. While this might seem part of her easygoing nature the fact she’s impulsive also opens a certain sense of training in thinking on the move. Still this impulsiveness was born even before her life as a samurai in Elder Tale. As someone who took part in plenty of fights she often had to act and think quickly or be the one pounded into the ground. However, most often this manifests as a negative trait because it makes her impatient and dislike the idea of waiting when the opportunity is there. While this only happens to those who challenged her or otherwise tried to oppose her Laura tends to allow herself to show a certain mean streak to her at times. Sadistic in terms of enjoying the sight of humiliating her enemies in the attempt to make them know their place upon defeat by her hands Laura might not be the type of girl who’d mindlessly kill someone who crossed her path, unless she has a reason, but her fallen enemies can certainly expect not to leave without a fair share of mental or physical humiliation. While she does not develop a grudge quickly, the moment she does one is pretty much guaranteed it will last until the day one of them dies. In the end Laura has seen her fair share of betrayals and wrongdoings, and something about them remaining unsolved only stirs an intense hatred within her. Of course while she might be convinced to drop a grudge the saying ‘She might forgive, but she’d never forget’ applies to her. She might decide to forgive someone in the end, but the grudge for the event will always linger. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] To live life the way you want to, it's something we often take for granted, and yet it's far less simple to actually obtain than one might imagine. For Laura Maes this was something she discovered from an early age. Born in a large middle-class family as the only girl out of four children, one might had imagined that so many siblings would have given her plenty of opportunity to form a familial bond with someone, and yet that wasn't the case. With herself being the only girl, aside from her mother it might had appeared the reason behind her was exactly that, because she was a female among males, but that wasn't the reason. It was most likely because Laura was more akin to a boy trapped in a girl's body. As a child it already became evident. Her love for sports, her mannerisms and manner of speech were a lot less feminine than the girls at school, to the point she stuck out as a sore thumb. Of course one would have expected that to lead to bullying, and yet she knew perfectly how to retaliate: with her fists. Sure she might had been a girl, but with all her siblings being brothers who could care less if she was a girl Laura had been quite in a few physical 'quarrels' before. It was during middle school that the problems ended up erupting. After some words had been tossed back and forth between her and a classmate Laura had become the target of a rather classic bullying prank. Discovering that her bag had been stolen it was crystal clear to her who had been responsible for their disappearance, and when the classmate refused to confess where she and her companions had hidden her bag Laura had chosen to force the answer out of her. What happened afterwards wasn't just a quarrel, it was a downright brawl, and by the time the teachers arrived to interrupt the fight Laura was covered in bruises, but her opponents were in such a bad state they had to be send to the hospital. The news had infuriated Laura's parents, the behavior of their daughter unforgivable, and even when she tried to explain what happened, they weren't willing to listen at all. It's said that at that time Laura experienced the most brutal betrayal she had ever endured: Her parents disowned her. Of course Laura was equally infuriated with the behavior of her parents. Not only had they chosen to turn a blind eye to her side of the story, but they cared more about how the city looked at them, instead of supporting their daughter. She was a storm crow, a bringer of chaos, or in their words 'A troublemaker'. In the end after drifting through the alleys of the city for two days Laura felt her body growing weaker. It was to be expected that none would have helped her, there were plenty of foul rumors going around about her already, so people preferred to avoid her, for getting involved was certainly going to lead to problems for them. However, it was one person, a young woman who would have changed her life in a way she had never been able to comprehend. Margaret was her name, a young woman whose name she had heard before. As someone who loved martial arts Laura obviously knew about the residential clubs, and Margaret was in fact a rising star at a Judo dojo. After some small talk Laura finally revealed her situation to her new friend, about how she had tried to deal with the bullying at her school in her own way, of how her parents had kicked her out of the house, and of how she was actually starting to starve from the hunger. Of course she was quick to take Margaret's invitation to get a free meal, and as one might expect it didn't stay with one meal. In exchange for helping at the dojo, Laura was given a place to stay, but also a friend who taught her the importance of strength. She could still remember the explanation Margaret had given her that day. That with great strength, one also had to carry great responsibilities. Certainly fighting was often a quick solution, but was it truly the answer for every problem? In the end it was because of Margaret that Laura's fighting spirit became tamed, and instead of recklessly seeking out fights she decided to hone her talent of martial arts, hoping to find a purpose in life. She didn't exactly perform well at school, so perhaps she could build a future within the dojo? It was several years after she had started attending the dojo that the events leading to her captivity within the world of Elder Tale unfolded. It was one of the students at the dojo who had caused the hype of the video game to spread among the members of the dojo, and intrigued by the stories she heard about the adventures people had Margaret decided to invite Laura. Of course Laura was hesitant, knowing all too well that MMORPG games were meant to be played with others, and aside from her friend the young woman didn't exactly know how to handle other people. In the end a bit of convincing had led Laura to accept Margaret's invitation, but it would appear fate is a cruel mistress, for while Margaret was preparing dinner, Laura had already started creating her character. Of course she had picked a warrior class, in the end those suited her the most, but when a light suddenly engulfed her vision she felt her consciousness fade away. It felt like several minutes had passed before she regained consciousness, a brief glance at her surroundings revealing two things. She wasn't in her room anymore, and the world around her seemed to look like something of a video game. Of course it took her a bit before she realized she was in fact trapped within Elder Tale... [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"] Aquila means Latin for Eagle, one of the most famous predator birds, or in her opinion a 'warrior' bird, hence she picked the name as a symbolic meaning: To be a warrior, and yet to remain free like a bird. |

Samurai have a honed and disciplined mind. Their visualization and training enable their first strike when their katana is drawn from the sheath to deal additional damage and threat. A Samurai is granted a free Iaido strike before performing a Chain 1 ability or after completing a Chain 3 or higher ability. This skill can only activate once per chain. This strike does not break the chain, allowing the Samurai to perform a skill in the same turn. [attr="class","skill"]Ace Move: Kabuto-wari (Helm Splitter): Chain 1. Starts or resets the current Chain. Kabutowari is a simple technique that involves a quick forward charge followed by a vertical slash aiming to cut down on the target's head. It delivers extra damage if dealt when the target has full HP. This skill has an animation time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 15 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Ace Move: Shunsen (Flashwave): Chain 2. Usable after Chain 1 skills. Shunsen is a quick and sudden horizontal slash that cuts the air and forms a cutting wave vacuum which deals additional damage. Unlike Izunagiri, this pressure field is stationary and essentially serves as a deterrent to opponents' melee attacks for the duration of the technique. This technique has a fan-shaped area of effect, making it an excellent technique to dispatch enemies standing in close proximity. This skill's attribute is wind, has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 20 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Heatsink: Blacksmiths are able to wear chain armor without penalties if they are normally unable to wear chain armor. They are able to wear plate armor without penalties if they are normally able to wear chain armor but not plate armor. Also a toggle skill. Through their skills at working around a forge, blacksmiths have developed a slight tolerance toward heat. They take reduced damage of 10% from fire-based attacks. [attr="class","skill"]Outrage: In times of desperation, the Berserker's physical abilities start to shine. When the Berserker's HP falls below 25%, their damage output increases by 5%. When the Berserker's HP falls below 10%, their damage output increases by 10% instead.
