Confusion of the Second Twilight, The Third Ballad [Solo]

As his menu's clock strike 8, he finally found an answer as he entered through the door the Castle Armor was guarding. Yet, after the door closed behind him, Eniko slapped himself in annoyance. Why didn't he figure out that riddle and those clues before?! The First Twilight aside, he noticed that the hallway was the same as the first one, only he saw many Jack-like monsters chatting like crazy while a lone monster stood at the back of the hallway. Annoyed by the monsters' "conversation", he decided to talk to the lone monster first, which according to it's HP, it was a Ripper Jack.

Since it was able to understand it without any skills for communicating to monsters plus there was a plaque about the riddle, Eniko managed to learn how to find the answer to proceed to the next hall. Yet in order to find out, he needed to avoid the lies it's companions made. "So I have to filter out the lies and know the true answer? That might be difficult to do that. Although there's an upside that I won't have to worry about monster ambushes, there's still a chance I might find the answer too late. Might as well listen carefully and compare their quotes." Decided to go with the first group first, he approached the group of Mini-Jacks and listened carefully to what they are saying while cautious about their lies they made.

But when he did, most of them talked about which skill the rivals from the riddle used and who won, which was no problem from Eniko to listen to as he mentally wrote them and repeat them in his mind so he won't forget. He then approached a group of new monsters called Helio Jack as they talked about one rival and one skill. It was somehow an easy answer, yet he felt most of them are not lies. With these quotes in his head, he wondered which one is the truth and which one is a lie.

Remembering from the rules of the Second Twilight and the earlier statements from the Mini Jacks and the Helio Jacks, Eniko knew this was far too easy as he was still cautious about the plaque's warning about the monsters being great liars. As he continued to listen the conversation, Eniko became confused. The group of Flare Jacks said different things he was stumped about, which he knew those skills are from different classes while a group of Frost Jacks said the same things, only with different skills he knew from a same class that he read from an online guide of Elder Tale from other countries' players. And after he listened to their statements, Eniko was completely stumped as he thought about those statements he mentally noted in his mind. Most of the statements the Jacks made are the same skills as the same class, but he felt most of them are lies. Also, the statements the other Jacks made are skills different from each due to being learned only by those main classes only.

"Man, with all of these statements, they made my head spinning. Which ones are the truth and which ones are big fat lies?" He thought more and more about the statements, but his words are true as he started to get a headache. Maybe a detective wasn't a suitable job for him in a near future after all. "Okay, calm down. I need some hint or something. I can't answer an obvious answer based on those straight up obvious answers. I need to think outside the box then." After he managed to relaxed himself, he came up with a plan. Maybe if he try to guess a random answer based on the Jack monsters' statements, he might able to get a hint and thought, "If those answers are wrong, then I will get closer to the truth." With that decided, he approached the Ripper Jack once again and told it his answer, which was actually a guess that might help him clear this up.

"So it's incorrect, huh?" Eniko muttered before he went back to a group of Frost Jacks. At least he tried, but also he was able to knew that either of those answers are lies. Now the question is a contradiction to their statements. Wanted to remember those statements and giving them a connection at the same time, he pulled out his lowered level Quill Pen and paper and wrote down the incorrect answer he gave to the Ripper Jack earlier. Then, upon his return to a room full of Frost Jacks, they repeated the same statements they gave to Eniko as he written some skills on the paper.

Then he went to a room full of Helio Jacks and wrote down their statements as well. As he left the room, he looked at his paper once more. Did that same statement was true? Eniko shook it off, which he thought to be impossible. Most of those monsters are lying while some told him half-truths, so he needed to slowly try to connect them and try to find anything that contradicts a true answer. But it was easier said than done as with all of these statements are able to blend the answer perfectly, that he can't tell which one's a fake. Nevertheless, he won't give up as his curiosity to this mysterious mansion made him determined to get to the Third Twilight. Then when he wrote down another set of statements after he entered a room full of Mini-Jacks, he knew he felt that there might be hint waiting for him from the Jack monsters' words. "But the question is, is it possible that anywhere in this hallway will give me a hint of some sorts?"

No matter how can he tried to separate those statements from truth and lies, Eniko quickly gained a headache once again, now stumped again from the riddle. Then, as he approached the plaque once again, Eniko became troubled with this hallways. "Man, no matter what, I can't find the right answer and the lies on those statements. What will I do now?" All of the sudden, the plaque then magically made some words appeared on it, which surprised him a lot. Upon he took a closer look, he was shocked at what he read. It's the hint of the riddle! "Huh, lucky me. Maybe this will help me with filtering out those lies." With that hint still in his mind, Eniko went back to a room full of Flame Jacks as they repeated the same statements as before as he wrote down the important details. And as he sat down on the hallway ground, he thought about the statements very carefully.

Thanks to the hint he obtained, he managed to know which ones are lies. Yet despite he found fiction, he has yet found the fact. He still need to narrow down which of these are the right answers. If he got hasty, he will never get to the next hallway. However, even if he got a wrong answer, he knew that he will get closer to the truth and an answer to the riddle. Upon he read the important details from the Jacks' statements one more time, he knew that there was something's missing. "With all of these statements and that hint, I felt that they are all lies. But I can't just filter them out one by one slowly. I need to go my own pace without wasting anytime." Then, approaching the Ripper Jack once again, he stared at it's menacing eyes, which it only bothered him a little as he remained his cool and serious expression and when he was ready, he then said, "How about this answer?"

Despite he carefully investigated the statements with the hint he got, his answer was still incorrect. However, Eniko was unfazed by this as he continued his search for the true answer of the Second Twilight's riddle. "Okay, looks like I'm on the right track. But before I can answer the obvious answer from their statements, I need to re-examine them." As he sat down on the ground and took out the paper contained some details about the Jack monsters' statements. "However, since I only have limited knowledge about these class skills from the how to play guides in Elder Tale's website, I don't know if I can find out the answer in time." He thought as he continued to read through the details once more, who was now completely focused on the riddle.

But as minutes have passed, Eniko was still focused at the details and as 10 minutes have passed, he quickly groaned in dismay as he collapsed on the ground in exhaustion. "No matter what I thought about it, I still can't figure out the hint as well which ones are lies. "No matter how many times I look at these, none of these won't connect to the hint somehow. There must be something that was missing." Decided that he needed to start his thoughts from scratch, he got up and stared at the rooms where the monsters are. "Other than the answers are based on some Japanese people, the class skills are based on damage and effects of them. The most statements talked about that skill and class, but I can't accept that as an answer yet. I need to figure this out and fast."

However, his thoughts are broken when a Mini-Jack suddenly appeared in front of Eniko, which startled him a lot. And before he can regain his composure, it managed to snatched not only his paper away but also his dropped Quill Pen, much to his shock. "Hey! Get back here! I spent 10 gold for that paper! Plus, that's my favorite pen, you sneaky monster!" He angrily shouted to the Mini Jack as he chased it without pulling out his sheath. He wanted to fight it to stop it, but he didn't want to hurt both the Mini-Jack AND his favorite Scribe items.

Although he didn't want to fight in this hallway, Eniko wished he can as he chased the Mini Jack around in an attempt to recover his stolen items. With the lack of Phantom Tableware in this hallway, he didn't hesitated to jump onto a dinner table to continue his chase as he pulled out his scythe and carefully avoid the blade portion of it, he tried to whack the Mini-Jack, but it was able to dodge them, much to his frustration. "I need to stop that Mini-Jack, but I don't want to kill it in this hallway. I need a plan of some sort." Using the walls as some sort of platforms, Eniko jumped from them and tried to stretched his arm far enough to grab the monster, but it was fast enough to dodge it, which caused the Assassin to crashed onto the ground.

"Okay, that was actually not a plan. But how can I catch it with that speed?!" Upon he said that word after a few seconds, his eyes widened in realization before he slapped himself on the face again. "Oh, right. Accel Dance!" With his mind now free of his limiters thanks to his skill, Eniko was able to move very fast and because of that, he was able to catch up the Mini-Jack so he can snatched his stolen items back, much to the monster's shock as it thought he's going to kill it. Before just as it braced itself, Eniko instead poke it on it's pumpkin head and said, "I'm not the type to battle low leveled monsters including innocent ones, but if you try to do that again, you won't face my blade except a big scolding, okay?"

That wasn't a threat, but it wasn't his best one yet. However, it did made Mini-Jack felt a little guilty before it gone back to it's mischievous self and left Eniko. "Well, that went well." He muttered as he looked at his recovered paper, which he started to realized something. "Wait a minute, what about this answer?" After he disabled his Accel Dance, he then gone back to the Ripper Jack and told him his next answer. If it isn't this answer, Eniko hoped there will be another hint for this riddle.

Once again, it was incorrect, but it was a good move for him on not using that answer. Still, he needed to review the statements as he returned to his usual spot and pulled out his paper and pen once again, which his Accel Dance expired as he did that. "Okay, that's... Many statements down. Looks like it's less confusing than ever." Eniko thought as he strike through the statements of those false statements as well his wrong answers. "But the next question now is which one of these are the real answer? Cause if I don't, I will never able to solve the mansion mystery before midnight." As he thought of it, he noticed some Jack monsters wandered around the hallway.

Now that he thought about it, there was nothing but Jacks like Helios Jack, Frost Jack, Mini-Jack, and others just like them. Also, he felt that someone's stalking him. It is Halloween of course, with scary ambushes and stuff. Yet, he felt a little paranoid as he thought a higher level monster might attack him unguarded. Then again, it was his imagination talking again, which he realized he might need some sleep despite not feeling any tired. Once again, he realized that he didn't felt any fatigue nor that he felt sleepy, which he guessed that it must be his new body's ability. Yet, he didn't wanted to stay up until midnight since he was a kid.

"What the?! Snap out of it, Eniko! If I keep being distracted, I will never solve the riddle!" With those thoughts, he decided to stop sidetracking and continue to focus on the details, unknown that he was truly watched, namely a Mini-Jack he scolded a few minutes ago.

With time started to ticking down to the next hour, Eniko tried to make heads or tails on his potential answers. He knew that one wrong answer means he was getting closer, but it is also a double-edged sword as it waste some time in this hallway. But as he did, the Mini-Jack from before slowly approached the young Assassin in curiosity. However, it got too close to him, which caused it to bump to his back and the young Adventurer to noticed it. "What the?! Hey, aren't you the same Mini-Jack who stole my pen and paper?" It can't talk, but it answered with a nod. "Well, what are you doing here anyway? Trying to steal another one of my belongings again?"

However, it nodded no since it was only curious at what he was doing, which made Eniko felt relieved at this. "All right, you can stay. But please don't try to disturb me while I'm thinking, okay?" Although he was not an Animal Trainer, the Mini-Jack obeyed him as it continued to watch him. "Now back to the riddle, all of the remaining answers have the same thing in common, but the question is which one of them was truly real? I can't just picked them randomly." However, he saw a Mini-Jack moving around, which he said, "Uh, sorry. I don't want any hints. If I did, that would be cheating, you know."

It was true that he needed to do this by himself not just because it was cheating, but it won't be challenging enough for him to solve this. Plus, with all of the hints he currently obtained, he can't ask for help for now. But then again, he felt it was on to something. "You know what, come with me just in case." The Mini-Jack did tag along as Eniko went to the Ripper Jack again and decided on the potential answer once again, he told it that what might be the right one for the riddle.

Once again, his answer was incorrect, which Eniko became irritated by this. "You're not making look this easy, aren't you? What did I said wrong this time?" However, the Ripper Jack didn't replied his question, much to his dismay. "Well, have it your way. But I'll come back if I need another hint." With that said, he left and crossed out another statement from his paper with the Mini-Jack following him. With all of his answers exhausted, Eniko now felt a little panic since he was running out of time and with remaining statements left, he knew so many, yet felt he was missing something. And just before he lose his head, the Mini-Jack approached him once more, which he noticed it.

"Oh, it's you. I don't know if you can hang out with me any longer. Like I said before, I'm not an Animal Trainer or have a skill to communicate with you." However, due to it's curiosity, the monster stayed by his side. This made Eniko thought that it was either liked him or still curious on what he was doing. Nevertheless, he felt he had company as not only his loneliness disappeared, but this made him more confident to solve the riddle. Because of this, he decided to get another hint as he went back to the Ripper Jack for another hint.

With the next hint now in his head, Eniko now realized which ones are lies and one is the answer. However, he need to review the details before he can truly answer the riddle once and for all. But before he can, the Mini-Jack was still curious about his actions, which he realized that he can't bring it along with him. "What do I have to do with this little guy? I can't kill it, yet make it feel lonely." But when he saw the Mini-Jack continued to stare at him and the paper, as if it somehow got the same idea as him. This made Eniko realized something as he asked, "Wait, are you also trying to solve the riddle as I do?" The monster then nodded yes and somehow told him that he wanted to solve the riddle that his friends made so it can help some visitors in this hallway.

"I see, so that's why you took my stuff earlier. But is it okay for you to solve it and tell anyone?" Eniko said to the Mini-Jack. "I mean, if you give them many hints, it wouldn't be more challenging for them to solve the mystery, which will result of this mystery to be boring. You don't want that, don't you?" Upon it heard his words, the Mini-Jack became guilty, realized that it might be true if it did. "Well, what about you'll try to help them by either teasing or give them vague details instead? Sounds good?" Upon it heard his idea, the Mini-Jack nodded in agreement as it about to snatch the paper again, only for Eniko to move it away from him. "But, on a condition that you can't steal any belongings from anyone, okay?"

After the monster nodded in agreement, he then review what he learned so far along with the hints he received. And when he was done reviewing as well connecting the pieces together, he approached the Ripper Jack once again and told it what could be the true answer of this riddle once and for all.

Maybe I could get a good idea on some missing details and the reason for my incorrect answers."

Then after he returned to some Jack monsters, he listened to their statements once again as he pulled out a new paper and wrote down their statements. Yet despite this along filtering out the statements with the hints he got, he felt he didn't understand all of this at all. With all of his incorrect answers, Eniko felt he was missing something or felt he can't solve this riddle at all. With that thought, he now wondered what he did wrong.

After he re-listened the statements, Eniko was still confused. Why is his recent answer was wrong earlier? As he thought about it, he looked at his Mini-Jack friend once again, which it somehow knew what he was about to ask and nodded no, which he was also confused about this. "I don't get it. Using the hints I've got, it's the same as before. Did I miss something?" He continued to thought about his predicament more and more, but this left him with a big headache. "Oh, I give up!" He then slumped down near the wall, now completely defeated by this tough riddle. "Why did I ever entered this mansion in the first place if I can't solve this stupid riddle anyway..."

Suddenly, he heard some kind of evil laugh, which somehow belonged to the Ripper Jack behind him and said, "You're still clueless aren't you, kid? Did you read the whole thing in the plaque?" As the monster pointed at the said plaque, which Eniko remembered, yet he became embarrassed that he realized he didn't read the whole thing. "Most of us tell lies, but some of us tell half the truth. In other words, we don't tell truths."

Don't tell truths? Does it meant that all of the statements are lies and half-truths all this time? With that thought out, Eniko slapped himself in realization that he missed that point. "I should have read more of that plaque better." With that said, he decided to thought less of filtering out statements and more on deciding what parts of those statements are true. And with the hints still in his head, he then told it his new answer.
