After the cataclysm, he really didn't care whether he was a man or woman still feeling that Elder Tale was a game, and not real life. He has no qualms about being an in-game female and doesn't hide that he is a male in the real world. In his own words, "I guess I'll just rock this hot chick thing for all it's worth." In the real world, Ethan is 5'10, average weight with a bit of a gut, though he wears it well. His friends would say he's average looking, friendly, and carries a good sense of humor. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Chaotic Good, boisterous, "Good Guy Greg with some Bro thrown in." In the game world, Ethan goes by his character's name "Witch", feeling it more appropriate to use his handle. Ethan is in his late 20's, single, lives alone, enjoys trying different beers, and has a healthy group of friends in the real world. He currently teaches two Freshman Composition courses as part of his fellowship. Ethan enjoys teaching, carries a laid back attitude in class, and is fairly well liked by his students. He has played video games since he was a child and enjoys them when he has a little time to relax. Ethan has no doubt that eventually he will return to the real world, but figures he might as well enjoy his time while in the game. Ethan is not above giving advice to younger players if they need it, whether about games or life, and is usually willing to give a helping hand if asked. As Witch, Ethan carries much the same personality, though he has a fondness for using overwhelming force in situations that require it. For instance, Ethan is the type of guy that in MMOs loves to burn all his cool-downs while biting his lip to see if he can burn down the boss after the tanks and healers are dead. He loves the feeling of winning a hard fought fight, and believes people can achieve anything if they are willing to work hard for it. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Ethan is a graduate student going for his PhD in English Literature. He enjoys learning about different cultures, reading things he finds interesting, Literary Criticism, comedy, and movies. Growing up, Ethan was a video game buff though also played sports from elementary school to high school, and had a variety of hobbies that he started, got something out of, then moved on from. Due to this, Ethan has a lot of surface knowledge on a variety of topics and can do many things well, though doesn't excel in any of them. Ethan has no problem with this, as he feels knowing a little about everything is better than being hyper-focused on one area. This is the main reason why he picked English literature for his PhD; it allows him the opportunity to study a variety of topics, as well as gives numerous opportunities for inter-disciplinary study. Ethan is in his second of year of his graduate program, and plays Elder Tale to relax from his never ending pile of papers to grade, and research to be done. For Ethan, the catastrophe is a vacation from the stress of the real world. He does hope to go back one day, but is at least thankful that his absence should be considered excused due to the circumstances. Even after he goes back to the real world, Ethan still plans to continue playing MMOs as they offer what he feels is a fun, and engaging environment to take his mind off of his workload. Its damage potential is low, but its 0.5 second cast time and 3 second cooldown rate is low enough that an Enchanter can actually shoot Pulse Bullets in rapid succession and rack up damage. Admittedly, spamming Pulse Bullets prevents the Enchanter from providing support, and doing so for long enough will eventually start to wear down the Enchanter's MP. [attr="class","skill"]Astral Hypno: Astral Hypno is a spell that induces a sleep debuff on the target, preventing them from making any actions until they are struck or after ten seconds have passed. The higher a target's wisdom stat, the higher their chances of resistance. It has a fairly low cooldown time for its effect, making it a very useful spell to be used for incapacitating an opponent. This skill's debuff classification is Sleep. Every time this skill is used on a target that was previously targeted by it, the sleep duration is reduced by 2 seconds. This skill has a casting time of 4 seconds and a cooldown of 15 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Keen Edge: A spell that allows the Enchanter to increase the physical attack power of the party's weapons. This spell only affects the weapons that are currently equipped, so weapons in the auxillary slot or inventory do not get this bonus. If the weapon is deequipped or if the character dies, the buff is canceled. Because the effect of Keen Edge lasts for almost an entire hour, it's often casted at the beginning of an expedition and before major fights. Recasting this skill causes its effect to return to the full duration. This skill has a casting time of 10 seconds and a cooldown of 60 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Transcription: Scribes are known for their ability to copy and examine documents carefully. This allows them to obtain the Adventurer skill [Mythic Script] as a Beginner-level skill without it taking up a skill slot. Their knowledge also allows them to use and read grimoires in the Ancient Text, allowing them to use grimoires without penalties and perform some basic magic attacks depending on their Magic stat. If the character can already use grimoires through racial or class bonuses, grimoire damage increases by 10%. [attr="class","skill"]Allure:A toggle skill that can be used anytime in a conversation with People of the Land. It allows the Courtesan to smooth over any mistakes and retain the target's attention. Often, this skill can also be used to obtain information that would otherwise require long interrogation. Allure's effect scales with the Courtesan's subclass level, becoming more effective at higher levels. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Starter Cloth Armor:A basic set of cloth armor made from cheap fabric. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Apprentice Grimoire:A one-handed apprentice’s book of spells designed for novice mages, made out of cheap materials. Doesn’t particularly have too many pages, but it is better than nothing. If used by a magic class, you get the ability to shoot a basic magic attack with a range of 2 meters. [attr="class","skill"]Crystal Balls: Starter Crystal Ball: A crystal ball crudely made from glass. It appears to be fairly old and unpolished, but still possesses magical power. A wielder of the Crystal Ball is able to make it float in the air, able to bludgeon foes up to 1 meter away with the ball.
