[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]SOTAROU [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Andrew Keyes [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 19 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Thancred, FINAL FANTASY XIV [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Sotarou [attr="class","bi2"]FACTION: Adventurer [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] A thin, but by no means a twig, adult. White hair adorns the top of his flawless face. A tattoo sprawled on the left side of his face doesn't really depict anything of meaning, just meant to look cool. The player looks kinda tall, but as one would notice he seems to stumble every now and again, indicating that he might be shorter in real life. Cool blue eyes gaze at anyone who would gaze back into them, and he never misses a chance to hold eye-contact with someone, even his opponents. To explain the rest of him, he generally wears casual clothing. Loose-fitted shirt and pants, all black. Loose enough that he can move around, but close enough to him to not get in his way while he fights. But the way he fights, you'd expect he'd done this sort of thing for a living... not so. In real life, he's missing one arm. Sometimes, you'll see him absentmindedly using his right hand to grasp his left arm as if reassuring himself that it was still there. It makes for some awkward situations at times when he forgets that he has that arm in this world. Realistically, he tries to keep to himself, having opted from joining a Guild for the time being. All in all, this is what Sotarou looks like in the game whenever he can: [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Sotarou's demeanor could be described in 3 words by other people: 'I don't know.' He doesn't really want to get to know people, because they usually don't want to get to know him. He's lived most of his life being seen as a freak because he was missing his entire left arm. He frequently grabs his left arm as if to let himself realize he has it. He chose to play Swashbuckler because the ability to attack with two hands intrigued him quite a bit. And it fulfilled a deep desire he had to have his left arm back. But now that he's got it back, he's still really self-conscious about other people's feelings towards him... even if he doesn't look like a freak, he still thinks others will think of him such, and thus would try to keep to himself. Barring that, he usually stays quiet in a group and works fast to get the job done before moving along. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Born Andrew Jack Keyes in London, Andy was born with a debilitating disease: a form of leprosy that would ultimately spread to the rest of his body. To prevent this, the doctor proposed a barbaric idea, but one that would ultimately save Andy's life: cut off the limb that held the leprosy to stop it from spreading too far. By the time Andy's mother had made the decision, the disease had spread to almost his entire left arm. To stop its advance, the doctor had to lop off the entirety of Andy's left arm, starting at the elbow joint. And at barely a month old, that was pretty gruesome. So for the entirety of his life, Andy had to live with only having one arm. Of course, his mom had signed him up for several experimental cases of prosthesis. But each time, she was turned away, the doctors saying 'There are worse cases out there. Your son was pretty much born without an arm. Everyone here lost their arm and can't function without it. Your son can learn to function.' So without the actual money to do anything about it, Andy had to learn how to do everything one-handed. It was quite daunting, especially for the parents. It was too much for his mom to take to try and help Andy, and she wound up leaving him and his dad. No word on her at all. The dad did his best to teach him best he could, and did an okay job. Then... school came. Andy's father couldn't afford to buy him home schooling, so he had to go to a public school. This was a bad idea... the moment he walked through those school doors, he was met with disdain and fear from all the children in attendance. Even the teachers couldn't help but feel weirded out by this child coming into school and attempting to do everything one-handed, like nothing was wrong. This trend extended well past Elementary school, into Middle School and High School. He even earned a nickname from some of the more harsher kids: Handy. Handy Andy! Someone give Andy a Hand. He could use an extra one! The jeers he got in High School were so rough, he had contemplated giving up on his life a few times... that's when he found Elder Tale, towards the end of his 4th year of High School. A convenient place to escape and avoid all the scorn he'd received his entire life... he quickly picked up the game and started out as a Druid. But during his leveling, he encountered several people who were using two swords at the same time. This intrigued him, and he did some research into this class, Swashbuckler. It had come out in the 9th Expansion. Seeing as they were on the 10th Expansion and nearing the 11th, he'd start up a new character just before the new expansion so he could experience everything fresh and new, just like the class he'd choose. An hour before the Expansion was to drop, he deleted his Druid character and created his Swashbuckler. He chose to stay near town a bit, not to get into fights at all until he knew everything about the class, and that was something he'd do while in town, looking at all the abilities he had available to him. The whole character creation process took him nearly all of that hour before the expansion dropped. He was doing it all one-handed, after all... and by the time he was about to head out into the zone to kill some enemies, the Expansion dropped, and his entire world as he knew it was going to go up in smoke... This motion has an animation time of 2 seconds, 1 seconds each strike if dual-wielding. If it makes direct unguarded contact with an opponent, their vision becomes blurry for the next 10 seconds, resulting in an accuracy debuff. The degree of blindness is most effective at the moment of contact, clearing up as the debuff wears off. For single-weapon and throwing weapon users, the debuff is dependent upon a single weapon's hit. A dual weapon user must strike the opponent successfully with both weapons to ensure the maximum effect. Even still, they have two chances at hitting, so stability is sacrificed for consistency. Nevertheless, the cooldown of this technique is also 10 seconds, meaning that an experienced user can sustain the effect as long as they can manage to pierce the opponent's defense each time. [attr="class","skill"]Discard: A technique designed to reduce aggro for the swashbuckler. As soon as the opponent draws near, the swashbuckler performs a somersault over the target's head, then uses the blunt end of the blade to spin the opponent sideways. This sudden disorientation disrupts a monster's thought process, often resulting in its battle AI resetting. This skill has an animation time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 15 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Mirage Dealer: Dual wield skill. The Swashbuckler performs a forward X-slash with their two weapons to slash at an opponent, then immediately teleports a meter forward. This usually places them behind the enemy, allowing them to either bypass their line or enable them to continue attacking before the enemy realizes what just happened. Because of the flashiness of this skill, it's a popular technique among aspiring warriors. Try not to use it while the opponent's at the edge of a cliff or right against a wall, though. You'll either plummet to your death or crash face-first into a wall. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 8 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Iron Stomach: Not even food poisoning can stop a dedicated chef! This skill can be toggled, allowing chefs to become immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and food. They also passively recover from sickness status effects twice as quickly. [attr="class","skill"]Weeding: Toggle skill. Gardeners not only have a green thumb, but the ability to bring destruction to that which they give life. They inflict 20% more damage when fighting a Plant-type monster and take 10% less damage from Plant-type monster attacks. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can.
