[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]ALIANA [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Alicia Erwell [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 21 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Bisexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: satsuki ikaruga, SEINARUKANA [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Satori [attr="class","bi2"]FACTION: Adventurer [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]Click for a pic Alicia decided her in-game appearance as Aliana based on a fantasy. Not of her ideal self or some image of perfection, but based on wild imagination's envisionment of an ordinary person forced to pick up the sword and shield. Which isn't to say she changed nothing about her appearance. The real Alicia is a short, mousy-looking girl with curly blonde hair, manic eyes, and a petite figure. Aliana, in contrast, is a taller woman with long, flowing red hair and a slender figure more befitting a young woman. She didn't exaggerate it too much, but she's certainly got more to her than her real life self. Her eyes have none of her real world self's manic looks or obvious lack of sleep. They're large, rounded, and expressive, and can easily shift from gentle-seeming to bold and threatening. The real world Alicia prefers modest clothing most of the time, but she takes what opportunities she can to dress up. As Aliana, she likes flowing clothes, including a long coat, but oddly enough, tends to wear it with a short skirt and thigh-high stockings. Even when not in full armor, she'll occasionally wear parts of it, including plates over the lower half of her skirt and a pauldron and gauntlet on her shield arm. Alicia could easily be described as quiet, shy, awkward, and easy to miss. In the real world, she'd usually be seen in a corner huddled with a computer. Or, more likely, glanced over entirely. But, perhaps in hope of escaping that, Aliana carries herself with the kind of confidence boldness that ensures she's easily noticed. Or, perhaps it's just the bright red hair and plate armor. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Alicia is an introvert to the core. She's not "shy" per se, but she tends to avoid crowds, sticks to the sides or corners of a room, only talks much if she's working or dealing with a small number of people, and gets exhausted when she has to deal with lots of people for any length of time. When she does deal with people, she tends to be soft-spoken, reserved, and concise, not speaking more than she feels is necessary...unless she's working. Which is most of the time. Some could say she's obsessed with her work, but that would imply that she sees it as 'work' rather than a hobby she has a passion for and can freely obsess over. She's an aspiring computer programmer, but is also good with hardware, and whether she's programming, building a computer, or just messing around with some tools and spare parts, she gets a bit manic. She talks fast, suddenly becomes extremely wordy, gets a wild look in her eyes and doesn't care who or what she's dealing with. Crowd? Fine. One or two people? Also fine. Nobody? She'll talk to herself or whatever she's working on if it comes to that. If she's doing something long and involved, she will dedicate herself completely to it, often forgetting to eat or sleep until someone forces her to. In recent years, this has included gaming. She picked up games as a way to fill time when she didn't have anything better to do, but ended up getting into some of the more involved ones in the same way. She's the roleplaying sort of gamer, who will either assume the role of the game's protagonist (or her character in an MMO), or create one if it's left as a blank slate, and gets into that role as much as possible. Because of that, she doesn't like playing people who are just herself. The result is that, as Aliana, she has created a character who's distinctly different: extroverted, bold, confident, able and willing to take the front lines at all opportunities, and surprisingly not a mechanic. At first, this was fun, allowing her to be the center of attention while still staying in the relative safety and anonymity of behind the computer screen. Now that she's trapped in the game, however, she's doing her best to keep it up, but it's a lot more exhausting. Time will tell if she manages to keep it up, or if her real self will start to bleed through. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]One might think, given a number of similar stories among fellow gamers, that Alicia had a dark and unpleasant past preceding her introduction to Elder Tale. But if one were to ask her if that was the case, she would give a simple and dismissive "no, not really". The truth is a lot more subjective. She was bullied from a young age, and her parents split up while she was in elementary school, but that was hardly an unusual occurrence. Her parents were a young couple who had gone in too fast and underestimated the lifetime commitment of marriage, and as for the bullying, Alicia was an obvious nerd, even early on. Her more enlightened present self would claim that picking on nerds was as natural as the sun rising every morning. But reasoning it all away didn't change the fact that Alicia didn't fit in with other kids, and so she turned to other things to keep her occupied. When she learned to read, it was reading. When her mother allowed it, it was video games. As she got older and learned to do things on it, it was the computer. A few too many sci-fi stories allowed Alicia to develop an interest in programming, so she soon asked for some basic programming books and taught herself how to code. Then, every time she visited her father, she asked to help him with his computers. By the time she was 13, she'd built her own computer under his instruction, one that she might have still used to this day if not for building more on her own over the next few years. As she went through high school, Alicia continued to keep herself, avoiding more bullying by just avoiding people altogether. She spent most of her time on the internet, keeping primed on every new technological development, coming and going from various online communities, and offering programming and technical help to anyone who needed it. She got more ambitious with coding projects, and would often lose herself for hours at a time in her work, during which time her mother would often worry if she had gone crazy. And when she was done or otherwise not working, she'd pick up games again. She gravitated towards open-world RPGs and MMOs, especially those with in-depth mechanics and crafting systems. She'd learn the ins and outs of every game she played, often accidentally breaking them when she discovered some way to remove all challenge. Eventually, she got bored of this and started trying to play the 'role' of the character instead. And so, Aliana was 'born'. Aliana was her preferred character for pretty much any game she could put her in. She was created from a lot of the traits Alicia felt like she lacked: boldness, charisma, strength, the ability to act natural around other people. Through playing Aliana, Alicia was able to come out of her shell just a little bit, at least online. She could interact freely with other players, take charge of parties, and talk through in-game and even occasionally voice chat as though she was the character. In her real life, she was much the same, but through her in-game interactions she started to be able to talk with other people more easily there as well...even if it was mostly business with a side of mania. She started college, got a small job as a programmer on the side, led a couple of projects, even went to a couple parties and conventions when she felt up to it. She was still mostly a wallflower at those gatherings, but it was a huge step from her high school days when she wouldn't leave the house for anything unless she had to. As for Elder Tale, she'd overlooked it for a long time as a foreign game well past its prime. It was only when the British got their own server that she paid any attention to it and, out of simple curiosity, decided to try it out. She went in believing that it would only keep her interest for a week or two. And now, it hasn't just yet occurred to her that she's quite literally unable to leave. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"]-She's ambidexterous, but favors her left hand for writing and similar tasks. -Speaks English and Italian. Also knows a year in high school's worth of Spanish. -Her birthday is June 19 -She really hates spiders. Unless they're steam-powered spider robots, then they're suddenly awesome. -Her favorite food is lobster. Needless to say, it's too expensive for her to have often. -Her normal playstyle is fairly aggressive, despite tending towards tank roles. Despite that she makes heavy use of shields, calling it "offensive shielding". -A quote: "Don't think of it as a game. Put yourself in the character's shoes, and think about what they would do next. If that's to mess around and waste time, then by all means, go ahead and do that until something that actually gets things done comes to mind. But when you do come up with something, that fits with the character and the situation, that's probably what you should try doing. If that doesn't work, try something else from the same perspective. And if nothing works, that's the game's fault and not yours and you should probably look up a guide or something. Or find a way to do it anyway, that's what I usually do." -A song: Ayreon - Computer Eyes |

This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a target is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 3 seconds, maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds. If the Guardian moves from their initial position, this skill is canceled. [attr="class","skill"]Shield Mastery: Passive skill. As the premiere tank of Elder Tale, the Guardian's signature equip is their large shield. Even so, it's rather bulky and takes some time to get used to for most players. As Shield Mastery progresses, the apparent weight of the shield decreases and its defense increases. [attr="class","skill"]Shield Smash: The Guardian's signature style is the large of a large shield. By ramming the opponent with this skill, it's essentially ramming the target with an iron wall. Naturally, such an action will pretty much interrupt any skill that an opponent is casting. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Heatsink: Blacksmiths are able to wear chain armor without penalties if they are normally unable to wear chain armor. They are able to wear plate armor without penalties if they are normally able to wear chain armor but not plate armor. Also a toggle skill. Through their skills at working around a forge, blacksmiths have developed a slight tolerance toward heat. They take reduced damage of 10% from fire-based attacks. [attr="class","skill"]Valor Guard: Passive. The Bodyguard prides themselves on being able to take a blow for their comrade. When the user takes the hit for an attack that originally targeted another character, increase the user's defense by 25% for the duration of that attack. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Starter Platemail: A basic set of plate armor made from cheap iron. They are not really too protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Starter Great Shield: A starter great shield designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t really feel too sturdy. Its distinctively huge size allows for good protection if somewhat unwieldy. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Starter Long Sword: A sword with a prominent shape designed for cutting. A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can.
