[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]Cortana [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Cortney Vale [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 19 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Homosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Leone, AKAME GA KILL! [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Sir Giggle [attr="class","bi2"]FACTION: Adventurer [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] In the world of Elder Tale Cortney could reimagine herself and project her personality, or rather, what she saw as her personality into her character. This meant her avatar Cortana resembled Cortney somewhat, but with much more flare, passion and a few other adjustments. Cortana had long bushy hair like Cortney but the blonde colour of reality was adjusted to a strong bright yellow and both its length and 'bushyness' was increased until it appeared almost mane like. She made the eyes with the same bright yellow and shaped them to appear more animalistic than normal. They physical proportions were fairly similar to Cortney, making Cortana just slightly over 6 feet tall, slim with ample bust. Through she did tone up Cortana's body quite a bit and made her appear more athletic. During combat her Wolf Hair race further influences her form to seem even more fierce and animal like. Her hair becomes longer, thicker and wilder, flowing down to bellow her waist. A pair of canine like ears protrude out of her hair on either side of her head. These ears can become quite animated, twitching and moving when Cortana is interested in something. Even her canine teeth, which were already larger than humans became more fang like. The whole lot together made her look like she was ready to rip something apart and devour it. She was no domestic cat, that was for sure. She was very, very relieved she had designed her avatar in such a way when the catastrophe occurred, leaving her with a kind of ideal body. Through there was one aspect of the new body she had to get used to: Legs. Becoming a double amputee at a young age Cortney, or rather Cortana, had more than a little trouble getting used to them, and often stands, walks and runs a little awkwardly, as the movement is yet to become natural to her. Even though she had been confined to a wheel chair Cortney was somewhat of a party girl, promiscuous and wild. Cortneys ideal attire generally matched this, with somewhat revealing gear being her preference. She also liked it to appear rough, like it was crafted out of raw materials and not too high class. This confidence in her own body also influenced how she moved and presented herself, shameless, though not outright lude in anyway. Lastly, to link Cortana to Cortney, Cortana's right breast has a caduceus tattooed on it. It is there to represent all the medical aid she received that put her broken body back together. A picture of the tattoo is provided. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Elder Tale, and other games had always been an outlet for Cortney. Online, in those games, with people who did not see her in real life she could become someone else, not pitied over or given undeserved sympathies. It was a place she could be Cortana, the Cortney she wished she could be. That is not to say Cortney's real life, or 'real' personality was damaged or dark, at least not emotionally. She was a lively young girl that often surprised people with her energy and optimism. She had come to learn that because she was restricted to a wheelchair people expected her to be down, depressed and meek. Cortney however, refused to be any of those. She kept a close group of friends and was somewhat of a social butterfly. She was a high achiever both in class and in her ambitions as an athlete. Her restrictions however did hamper her and while she never let it show, the strain both physically and emotionally did get to her. She wanted to race at a higher level, but didn't have the energy to train often enough, her body damaged by years of treatment. She wanted to do more but physically, she just couldn't, not for a lack of trying. Not that it stopped her keeping up with her peers, who while able bodied were generally more interested in less athletic things, through camping was a common occurrence for the small group of friends. Another major aspect of Cortney was her shamelessness. Cortney always blamed it on the years of revealing hospital gowns and what not, but her mother claimed otherwise. It was just her nature, her outgoing, playful cheeky nature. It was totally not beyond her to basically use her condition, her body, or anything as a joke, often to complete strangers. If she made up a lie, it was a lie so ridiculous it would make people laugh, if she exposed herself to friends, it was because she didn't care, if she made herself look bad, it was because she could laugh at herself. Online, where she could pump out all her emotional energy without physically being drained out so easily became her playground during some of her free time. It was slow at first, but over the years her presence online became less herself, Cortney, and more her alter ego, Cortana. Cortana carried many of the lively traits of Cortney and enhanced them, becoming a bubbly ball of energy that loved a challenge. She was known for playing games somewhat unorthodoxly, building less popular builds, taking silly combinations and just seeing what she could do with them. Some worked, many didn't, but she became quite skilled at MMORPG's in general. A challenge was what she craved for, sometimes she created her own challenge, but mostly she loved the challenges of the games themselves. She was someone that would get really proud of accomplishments made in games, even the ones other gamers thought were too geeky. It didn't even have to be her own accomplishments, she loved to live in the story that other players told her of the things they achieved. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] In the eyes of her perants, Cortney's childhood was split into two sections. She was born a hefty girl, but a perfectly health one, born to two loving parents, and a tight knit family. While she was an only child, several of her aunts and uncles had children and lived very nearby, so she was never without cousins to be with. In almost all respects, Cortana had the perfect childhood, and was a very happy, energetic child. The second chapter of her childhood however came suddenly, and changed so much. Cortney was six years old when it happened. Her mother was walking her to school, a primary school close enough to walk most days. They did have to walk nearby a highway however, and it was there that it happened. A freak, but completely accidental car crash occurred. A man on his way to work lost control of his car, clipped the corner of an oncoming truck and one thing lead to another. The car rolled with much force, down the embankment right towards Cortney and her mother. They barely had enough time to react, it was all so fast. The car first struck her mother, but knocked her down and out of the way, saving her from all but a broken shoulder. Little Cortney however was not so lucky, and as the car rolled and bounced it crushed much of her body. It did not kill her, but the little girl was not to return to consciousness for 3 days. The trip to the hospital was intense, and her mother refused treatment by ambulance staff, uncaring to her own injury when her daughter was in such a critical state. The following nights were sleepless for all but Cortney who was kept in a heavily sedated state while surgeons could do what could to save her. Bone fragments, crushed muscle, internal bleeding, the list of concerns seems endless, but she was resilient, and the surgeons were masters of their craft. They saved her, but at a large cost. Both legs had taken the entire weight of the cars roof before it bounced off her, and amputation was required. She lost both legs above the knee, and what remained of her legs and hips needed extensive surgery. Her ribs, shoulder, left arm and hand were all hit as well, but with splints, braces and a long time to recover, would be ok for the most part. When Cortney was finally awoken from her drug induced sleep she was greeted by not just her parents face, full of tears but 3 little cousins, their parents, other family members and close friends. Everyone was crying, the sight of such a young girl so damaged, and so close to being lost to them was an overwhelming force. But they were all there, and continued to be there over the years. That tight knit family structure that had blessed her with such a perfect childhood now blessed her with all the support she needed to bounce back. By age 8 her wheelchair was normal, the hospital wasn't a scary place to visit and her life was anything but over. The years to come were hard, but family and friends worked just as hard to make Cortney to feel normal. Cortney also worked hard to not let her wheelchair define her, or to be left behind by her able bodied friends. Whether she would have become such a motivated and energetic girl is hard to say, but Cortney definably pushed herself harder than some others. Through high school Cortney took to compensating for her disability and trying to do as many extra activities as she could. She joined several school clubs, was a social butterfly, went camping and took up some friends hobbies with them. The hobbies included things like trading card games, photography, working at an animal shelter and even sewing. It was not to last however, and this phase of overcompensation resulted in one hospitalized Cortney, who had burnt herself out and collapsed of exhaustion while on a camping trip. The reality of her condition hit her, and it stung. Over the years she had needed many more surgeries to deal with her growing body and the splints and other things put in her from earlier years. She was on a plethora of medication, from steroids to supplements, and as she was forced to remember, the wheelchair was not her only disability, her body was as well. It could not keep up, and she was forced to take it easy for a long time, and cut down on all her activities. But there was one activity that she need to give up, even while in the hospital. Prior to the collapse a friend had got her into an MMO, it was a rather old MMO at that point, but it was her first, and with friends to play with it was at least good fun. She hadn't gotten too into it, but once she was hospitalized her interest peaked. It became something she could fill her spare time with without exhausting herself. That isn't to say she totally gave up on her other interests, her other activities, but she did have to cut some of them out, or reduce how often she did them. Jumping forward a little bit, and the game Elder Tale was coming out with a new server. Cortana had kept an eye on the game through its initial release but was already involved in another game with her friends. However with the new server opening and all the hoo-ha that went into promoting the game it was hard to resist giving the game a go. It looked exciting, wonderful and beautiful, she was hooked, and so early December she pre-ordered the game. The game was not what she expected. It wasn't what anyone expected. Nowhere in the advertising or the fine print did it mention anything about being literally put into the world. Sure the advertising made it look immersive but the catastrophe was something completely unexpected. Cortney became Cortana, physically, and as she came to accept the permanent nature it appeared to be, mentally took on her alter ego of Cortana as well. There was one thing that took a lot longer to get used to however. Cortana had legs, and an able body. She hadn't walked in over a decade and spent most of her time on the ground or shakily against walls. She deeply wanted to take on an adventurer with the others but was still being held back by her body, even in a new world with a new body. It was for this reason she gave herself 1 year to learn to use her legs, and to prepare herself for what was to come. Elder Tales London server passed its 1 year mark, and now Cortana, able to walk, run and jump without too many shaky steps is eager to take on the world, whether it is ready for her or not. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"]Cortana has a weakness for cheesecake. You can get away with murder, as long as you bribe her with a good cheesecake. |

The arrows in reserve are levitated in the air beside the bow using the power of mana. Whenever the user should then fire an arrow, the next one will quickly load itself into the slot of the bow, allowing for optimized rapid fire. Arrow Revolver may also be used with a firearms weapon, causing a single round to load itself into the chamber after each shot. This skill has a casting time of 3 seconds and a cooldown of 20 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Quick Swap:A skill that facilitates the quick switching of equipment from the user's equipment to their inventory. While many characters use quick slots in order to swap out their weapons, this requires a manual action. The use of Quick Swap does this exchange automatically. This switching can only be done with two equipment sets at a time, both of which are registered prior to the start of battle. When Quick Swap is used, the current equipment set will be swapped out to the other set designated by the skill. Due to the nature of this skill, it is best used by characters of the Weapon Specialist classes. This skill has an animation time of 1 second. Its cooldown if used by a Weapon Specialist class is 30 seconds which increases to 60 seconds if used by any other class. [attr="class","skill"]Accel Dance: Physical Attack. The sister skill to Deadly Dance, focusing in increasing the Assassin’s speed rather than their power. As the Assassin strikes their foes, they enter a state of mind where they can release some of their body’s natural limiters, allowing them to increase the speed of their attacks by 10%. The repeated usage allows the Assassin to descend deeper into this state and increase their attack speed even further. While originally designed for melee attacks, as it is more of a state of mind, the technique can be applied to ranged attacks as well. This skill has a duration of 30 seconds, a cast time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds. The Assassin may spend an additional 2 seconds casting this skill to increase attack speed by 20% instead. If Accel Dance is used while it is currently in effect, attack speed is not increased further but the buff's duration will reset back to its full 30 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Outlaw: Toggle skill. Gunslingers have an affinity with firearms, allowing them to use firearms without penalty if their main class is normally not able to wield firearms. When Outlaw is toggled, the Gunslinger will see the remaining number of bullets in their current magazine and the total amount of bullets remaining in their inventory, displayed at a corner of their vision. If the firearm is empty and requires reloading, the number will be displayed in red. [attr="class","skill"]Disassembly: Toggle skill. Mechanics have a certain affinity with taking apart machines, so monsters that are mechanical in nature had better watch out. Mechanics deal 20% more damage to Machine-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Machine-type monsters upon a successful hit.
