While is has only been a short while since the Calamity, the passage of time is still yet fresh in everyone's minds. To help keep those in their newfound situation thinking more positively, a group of players got together with some of the crafting guilds to create a festival. Since the actual new year had already passed, they opted for something that could be enjoyed a bit more universally, the Chinese new year. Ushering in the year of the horse, they collaborated with some of the people of the land to allow for free horse rides within the city for the duration of the festival. Their scope was small but ambitious, create an atmosphere where anyone can find something fun to do. With that in mind, they set forth to create a night for people to remember. Lacking manpower and looking for volunteers as well as people to enjoy the festival, they created a schedule for the day.
Noon-Opening: The festival begins. Decorations are strewn across anything that can be found in the plaza outside of St. Pancras Station as well as some of the side streets. In these areas there are stalls, games and activities setup by members of community to sell things such as food and trinkets and allow people to enjoy themselves.
3pm-3:30-Parade: The stalls temporarily close down. The stage erected in a corner of the plaza is the center and starting point for a small parade which contains some dancers as well as a dragon. It proceeds through the festival area and then into town. The festival area reopens shortly after.
6pm-8pm-Dinner and a show: Most of the stalls close down and the plaza and other more private areas become akin to an open air restruant. The stage becomes the main attraction as volunteers entertain the crowd with a variety of performances such as music or stand up comedy.
8:30pm-Late night- The stalls reopen and the festivities continue with many an adventurer now fully appreciating the craftsmanship of local brewers
Midnight- Fireworks are shot off, creating an elaborate display. These are provided by adventurers of the mage classes using their skills in creative ways to give a visually stunning experience.
2am- Everything closes down. You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.
Rules/Notes:
Everyone is allowed to participate in whichever part of the festival they choose in the way they choose. You can go for the entire thing, or you can go for part of it and only have dinner. As implied, everyone has the option of helping to work for the festival as well in any way they would like. Some of these roles could include being a cook/waitress, merchant, an organizer, part of the parade or even a mage helping with the fireworks, it's all up to you. Adventurers are free to interpret the outlined events differently. The stage may put on a play for example or you may find an eating competition. Threads will have an [Event] tag on them and be either in London or St. Pancras Station. Because it is a festival, it is also a social event and no solo threads will be accepted. Upon completion of a thread, adventurers will be awarded a Red Envelope and a special treat. Creation of new event threads will cease after Jan 31st as the event will end. Any in progress threads will be allowed to finish.
