[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]Jane [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Cedric Argall [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Female [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 22 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Demisexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Jane [Dindeen], Original artwork [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Jeet [attr="class","bi2"]FACTION: Adventurer [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]Reference Jane appears to be a young teen or really short woman. As an avatar she wasn't exactly designed to be the most sensible characters, instead being cute and a sort of joke childlike tank that would hopefully stand shorter than most of the other characters in any party that formed. Standing at about 4'8" she has long hair the colour of sunshine and bright golden eyes that seem remarkably alert, even when she's hardly paying any attention. She often wears her hair out behind her, but since the Apocalypse has taken to tying it back in a long braid when in combat to prevent it getting in the way of her vision. Her posture is straight and proper, a side effect of not having nearly as much mass to hold up as she was used to in real life. Her body is thin and lithe and she doesn't seem to have any of the sheer strength or muscle built up on her frame that one would normally expect in a Warrior class, but when you consider her the theme her appearance was built on that makes perfect sense. Considering her current lack of funds Jane tends to wear whatever happens to be laying around at the time. She doesn't have a whole not to choose from so she mostly just runs around in her full armour set. At the moment she goes for the bulkiest looking set she can find, trying her best to look like a tiny mass of metal with a head on top. She is curious to try out girly clothing, but it will probably only take places after the fact that this is how life is now sinks in. For now she has chosen to stick with nondescript shirts and shorts, usually coloured yellow to suit her hair. Cedric on the other hand is around 5'8", he stands tall, but not straight, and isn't exactly something you'd call thin, but on the other hand he wouldn't be classified as fat or thick. He tends to dress lazily, either grabbing the top thing from the draw for when he's got time off on the weekend, or wearing loose but comfortable work clothing when on the job. He has pale skin from being indoors a lot, clear green eyes and short light brown hair. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Jane finds it hard to take the current situation seriously. Before the Apocalypse it was a game, and after the Apocalypse she still treats it as a game. While not exactly a people person, as Cedric she was always that one withdrawn person who would reach out to others and try and encourage friendship and enjoyment, and not much of that has changed now she is Jane. She likes to keep her friends close, and does have a bit of trouble getting to know new people, but if she sees an individual being shy and trying to avoid things she'll do her best to include them. Jane has an abhorrence to generalisation, part of why she chose her current avatar over something more familiar, and likes to rush ahead of things even though that might not be the best idea. That's not to say she isn't careful, she'll sneak, try and do things quietly and even plan out a situation if it works out that way, but she's always had a weird skill when it comes to games to cause a terrible situation, then somehow pull it together with her team and make it work out. She is quite protective of the people close to her, doubly so when it comes to actually fighting, and she has a rather strong sense of justice that doesn't always mesh well with the opinions of people around her. She enjoys seeing things through and getting them done, but not to the detriment of those around her. She often finds it hard to understand what drives people, but realises her different outlook on things is usually the cause of this. Jane really likes to think she is in tune with her own mind and emotions, but acts otherwise because it can be more fun to let them out in controlled bursts. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Ever since he was young Cedric had always seemed to be on the cusp of things. Born on the Pisces/Aries cusp in Wales he seemed torn between being withdrawn and being a leader. He never liked to try too hard, until something gave him need, and he loved to daydream and read, but was ready to drop all that the moment something needed to be done. Never wanting to impose, but always wanting to help he always seemed torn two ways. He was born into an older family with one much older brother that had moved out before he even made it to his teens and as such he was given a bit more freedom in what he wanted to do, with a few reasonable limits to try and curb any attitude problems he might have developed with his peers. Both his mother and father did their best to show interest in what he did, but at the same time they tried to nudge him in specific ways, more away from the creative side of things and towards the practical, something he was a bit more mentally geared for. While studying he tried to follow his interest and what those around him expected. An interest in voice acting in games grew into an interest in voice acting and a curiosity in game design, which evolved into a time investment in some programming skills. He hoped to be able to get into game programming after his studies ended, but getting into that industry was hard, and in the end it wasn't to be. In the end the job he got was for more practical programs, something he figured would pass the time and earn him money but secretly feared would drain his life away until he was one of those barely animate adults who just survived their day to day. He didn't give up on his voice acting despite all this, and from a relatively young age he was into table top games and playing a lot of video games to try and see all the different voices people did. He had some skill manipulating his voice and creating characters out of it but suffered from a rather fatal flaw - while he could put on almost any pitch of voice he wanted, he couldn't get rid of his Welsh accent. This didn't matter so much when he'd go out to DM or GM games, giving his players interesting scenarios to play through and memorable characters with very Welsh accents. He let this interest grow out too, making sure to visit the other British islands whenever a convention came along and taking a table for any group that was willing, and meeting a few people there too. He met a few people he kept in contact with across the internet there too, including one he all but dragged into a game when he saw the sparkling interest in their eyes yet that clear uncertainty that would mean they'd never walk forward and ask to join in. As much as he suffered a bit of an introverted streak himself, it was when he wanted to share in something fun like this that he broke out and took command of the situation in a way he thought would work. Eventually he would be convinced to try out Elder Tales by one of these friends, dragged into a game he normally didn't show much interest in, what with the lack of voice acting that was usually found in most MMOs according to his experiences with them. Taking it as one big joke he expected to get bored of, or just lack the time to really try out because of his job, he made what he thought would be a humorous joke character on creation, even if it was somewhat serious enough to be able to help out his friend if they ever did get to any of that serious game play that would always turn up in these games. The last thing he expected was to turn into that character, else he probably would have taken it all a bit more seriously. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"]Left handed. Voice acting skills allow him to disguise his voice as female, though when stressed, angry, with close friends or just not thinking about it he defaults back to his regular voice. Has trouble taking the game concepts that are now 'real life' restraints seriously. |

When attacked, the two options are usually to move out of the way or brace and block the attack somehow. However, some choose a third unusual option which is to face the attack head on with a display of power of your own. By literally attacking an attack with an attack, you not only mess up the collision point but you negate most of your opponent’s power using your own kinetic energy. Also, if you surpass your opponent in power sufficiently, it is possible to break apart the opponent’s attack so significantly that you can chain it into an attack of your own. This skill can only be used as a counterattack against skills with an animation time of 2 seconds or more. Counter Break has a cooldown of 30 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Heavy Anchor: This skill is performed by facing a nearby target at equal footing. The Guardian slams their foot into the ground, causing the opponent to essentially be pinned to the very spot they stand. Neither of you will be able to move while the skill is active. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 30 seconds. The maximum duration of this skill is 10 seconds, ending immediately when either the Guardian or target is moved by an outside force. [attr="class","skill"]Taunting Shout:A aggro-gaining skill that targets a single enemy and boasts one of the lowest cooldowns in the Guardians' skill list. The Guardian provokes a single opponent and draws their attention. Because of this basic utility, it is a very simple skill mostly used by beginners. Of course, if there's only one opponent, why waste your time when you can stick with this classic? This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Covering Tier I Skill Despite a Warrior class's bulky appearance, their agility in the midst of battle can sometimes be very surprising. When an ally is about to be targeted by an attack, this skill allows the character to switch places with the target and take the force of the attack. It can also be activated in response to an area of effect attack, taking all the damage from affected party members onto oneself. Obviously, as good as the character's reflexes may be, this requires that the ally be in very close proximity. This skill has a maximum range of 3 meters, an animation time of 1 second, and a cooldown of 15 seconds. If used by a character other than a Warrior-based class or Warden, the cooldown is doubled to 30 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Shield Smash Tier I Skill The Guardian's signature style is the large of a large shield. By ramming the opponent with this skill, it's essentially ramming the target with an iron wall. Naturally, such an action will pretty much interrupt any skill that an opponent is casting. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Hearing Aptitude Tier I Skill A toggle skill that improves the character's hearing perception. Whispers can be heard from about 2 meters away, conversations can be heard up to 10 meters away, and the hearing range of the most distant sounds are doubled. It is a very effective skill for the sake of gathering intel and eavesdropping. [attr="class","skill"]Anchor Howl Tier I Skill A loud soundwave is generated from the Guardian's position, encompassing the surrounding 5 meters in radius. This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a target is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 3 seconds, maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds. If the Guardian moves from their initial position, this skill is cancelled. [attr="class","skill"]Resilience Tier I Skill A passive ability of the Guardian. Due to their highly defensive class role, their HP regenerates faster outside of battle compared to other classes. Additionally, they regenerate a small amount of HP within battle, every couple of seconds. This passive battle healing is not very high, but it might prove to save one's life in the long run. [attr="class","skill"]Shield Mastery Tier I Skill Passive skill. As the premiere tank of Elder Tale, the Guardian's signature equip is their large shield. It's rather bulky and takes some time to get used to for most players. However, considering the Guardian's playstyle, prolonged use means that they are unparalleled in terms of wielding shields. A Guardian with this skill can equip shields with an item level of up to 5 levels higher than their own Guardian class level. [attr="class","skill"]Ambidexterity: The mechanics of Elder Tale lightly discourage dual-wielding due to the reduced accuracy and proficiency with such a combat style. However, it remains a quite popular strategy among those who willingly sacrifice stability and defense for a little boost in DPS. It is such that Swashbucklers are primarily the class type that specializes in dual-wielding and thus has the most compatible skills for this purpose. The Ambidexterity skill passively lifts the dual-wielding penalty from equipping two one-handed weapons or two shields. This skill does nothing for a Swashbuckler, since they already possess a beginner skill which does the same purpose. [attr="class","skill"]Cool Defense: Toggle skill; the Guardian taps into their mana and creates an additional line of defense between them and the opponent's attacks. For every blow that the target lands on the guardian, a small amount will be nullified. This defense is made all the more apparent when it comes to weak multiple-strike attacks. The Guardian's MP is slowly sapped as this skill remains active. [attr="class","skill"]Transmutation: Transmutation: Alchemists are naturally aligned with the power of magical equipment, able to use the Adventurer skill [Equipment Mastery: Magical] as a Beginner-level skill without having it take up a skill slot. Their research also gives them an advantage in fighting Artificial Life to deal an additional 10% damage. If [Equipment Mastery: Magical] is already learned through racial or class bonuses, Magitech damage increases by 10%. [attr="class","skill"]Mana Crystallization: Proficient Alchemists are able to extract the mana from the surrounding air and their own bodies more easily in order to perform their research. Mana Fragment production rate is increased by 100%, equating to two fragments every post in a research or crafting thread. Additionally, every time the Alchemist is hit by an attack, they restore a very small amount of MP proportional to received damage. [attr="class","skill"]Silent Move: A skill that deadens the user's movements whenever traveling, preventing them from making any sound while walking. In exchange, the Tracker's movement speed is reduced by 50%. For every 10 levels the tracker gains in their subclass level, this debuff is decreased by 10%. After Level 50, the debuff is eliminated completely. [attr="class","skill"]Eagle Track: The tracker can designate a visible target to track. The target's form is highlighted and can be seen through walls and other obstacles from a short range and their footprints are highlighted for up to an hour. These footprints are visible only to the tracker. Upon obtaining this skill the user can track one target and can track an additional target every ten levels after. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Starter Platemail [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Starter Spear [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Stratford Arms Great Shield Lv.30: A weapon or armor coming directly from the Stratford Warden inventory, reliable equipment that can be brought into the Miasma Realms. While convenient, they are a little more expensive than if you were to craft your own equips. [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#1: [Armoured] Dwarven Shield Straps Level 20 cloth accessory. A set of thick leather straps used to attach the shield to its wearer's arm. The thicker leather and shorter straps better fit the physique of a shorter person, allowing them greater control of their shield. Effect: +5% Physical Defence [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#2: [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#3: [attr="class","skill"]Accessory#4: [attr="class","h3"]Inventory [attr="class","b2"] EMPATHION OF INGENUITY: Lv1 accessory. You found that delivering the items to the mysterious Executive Chef caused a mysterious gemstone necklace to appear in your possession. It resembles an emerald in appearance but the gemstone itself phases through to the touch as though it were an optical illusion. Is the banquet a stage to something bigger? Cannot be reforged or enchanted. When this item is equipped, it applies a crafting bonus of +1 toward a craft's final item level. AP Potion (5 AP): A potion for 5 AP. Use it in the Market Center. Second Anniversary Cake: Level 30 food display. A multi-layered cake with extra frosting and toppings made to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the Apocalypse in the Unfounded Kingdom. It can be used as furniture in Guild or Personal Housing, granting +1 to all housing stats. It can alternately be eaten in a thread to grant a Food Buff for 5 posts. The Food Buff grants +5% movement speed, increases maximum HP by 10%, and also heals the user by the same amount immediately upon use. Untradeable. |
