He's not terribly tall, only about 5'10 (178cm, roughly), and possesses a stout frame which has gone just a bit pudgy over the past few years. His hair is often an unkempt mess of brown curls, his green eyes often partially obscured by the squared off frames of his glasses. A mess of freckles decorate his cheeks, and a somewhat well trimmed bout of scruff lines his jaw. His complexion is a touch on the pale side, likely due to the combination of overbearing schoolwork and his dedication to gaming keeping him locked away in his apartment for an almost criminal amount of time. In the world of Elder Tale, however, things are a bit different. As Flynn Warwick, Nate is a bit taller than he is outside the virtual space, about 6'1, with a similarly stocky build which, admittedly, is a fair bit more toned and filled out than the real life counterpart. Medium length black hair is tastefully tied back into a short ponytail, a few loose strands and tufts hanging from his hairline. His eyes are a piercing blue, his features sharp, and his skin somewhat olive in tone and complexion. His face is flanked at either side with a pair of sideburns, and a bearded patch runs from his chin to his bottom lip. Flynn's attire could be described as somewhere between formal and combat-practical. He dons a simple white button-up with the collar upturned and a dark blue cravat tied around his neck and tucked into said shirt. Over that he wears a brown leather vest, and over that is a pale blue jacket adorned with armor-grade leather padding and plating that falls to about mid-thigh. The jacket itself is left open but is held in place with a heavy leather belt lined with all sorts of pockets and pouches. Each hand dons a rather basic glove, the back of which is padded for a bit of extra protection. A pair of simple black pants is to follow, each leg of which is tucked into a pair of leather grieves. Casual attire is simply Flynn's combat gear sans any armored pieces. The cuffs of his shirt are often rolled roughly two thirds of the way up his forearm. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Nate is a bit of homebody, to put it lightly. Most of his time is spent either slaving way at his schoolwork or running dungeons in any number of MMORPG's. Because of this he tends to be a bit awkward in most social situations. Not hopeless, mind you, but just a touch out of place. He prefers to keep to himself, often only interacting with others if he's required to or knows them well enough already to consider them friends. It doesn't help that he's a bit blunt. It isn't exactly that he doesn't understand social cues... on the contrary in fact, he understands them very well. He just doesn't care to pay much mind to them. He's highly goal-oriented and can tend to be quick to temper as well if things don't go as he'd expected to in any given situation, which has made it all the more comfortable for him to simply bury himself in his studies and MMO habit. That being said, he does tend to mean well. He's not out to hurt others or prove something in any way... he just has issues moving out of his comfort zone. In a virtual space it seems most of those issues have faded a bit into the background. As an avatar, a hero, the usual stresses of face-to-face social interaction have been all but removed. An MMO is by nature a game and plays well to his goal driven attitude. Everyone is on the same page, everyone is working toward the same thing. It makes more sense than the complexities of the outside world. Because of this, a lot of his harsher outward qualities have been not so much removed as muted, his most common stresses essentially being nullified by the virtual space. His warmer side tends to come out more often and his knowledge of social interaction is finally put to good use. His favoring for support roles when it comes to class selection has practically forced him to become a good team player and act more cooperatively than he ever realistically would in the real world. That being said, he still is the same person as he's always been. He can have moments of closing others out and retreating to isolation during times of high stress, and his temper acts up just as strongly if a notable quest or raid goes south. And then he decided to try out Elder Tale. The Apocalypse saw something of a fusion of Nate, now Flynn's different halves. He was an adventurer now... may as well act like one. Because of this he has a tendency to pull off acts of bravado and heroics not necessarily because they're the smartest or most natural thing to do, but because they're correct. Only afterwards does he actually realize how foolish his actions may be. His habits of singlemindedly burying himself into his work still persist, this time through his music. During moments of high stress it's not unlikely to find Flynn with violin in hand, trying desperately to get his mind off of whatever it is that's bothering him. He seems to constantly be playing a game of false confidence, his once cold, unyielding front now replaced with a mask of gusto and bravery. He feels pressured to be inspiring and courageous. He's the bard, after all. That's his job. It can work in his favor of course, that attitude has let him stumble through tough situations and accidentally inspire adventuring parties into victory. But more often than not, it just leaves him feeling consistently dishonest. That's the reason why Flynn tends to value the few people he actually can open up to. Befriending someone and feeling comfortable around them gives him something of a release. He can finally talk about things that are bothering him as opposed to just ignoring them and pushing forward. In turn, if those people do get hurt or injured, especially if it's by at hands of another player, his general facade will drop in favor of blind rage. Combining his already difficult temper with the value and concern he has for those he cares about leads him to charge in with sword drawn, regardless of the situation or likelihood of any actual victory. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Nate's parents meant well, of course. Most parents do. But their insistence on perfection made it hard for the then child to see anything less than that as correct. Nate was born to a French father and English mother in the countryside of England. He grew up constantly being told of the importance of success, the greatness of being able to truly build up an empire from nothing. Or hell, at least work desk jockey for a respectable company. It made it difficult for him in his teen years where he discovered his love for more artistic pursuits, particularly music. He wanted to make it big, to perform from crowds of thousands. But of course, that was too risky. It wasn't safe. It wasn't right. So instead of nurturing his passions he simply left them to die out in favor of convincing himself just how much he'd love going to law school. College was an interesting transition. Finally, Nate could be free of the overbearing hand and watchful eye of his parents. Unfortunately, he hadn't realized just how heavily their values had weighed on him. He simply couldn't bring himself to take risks. No parties, no spontaneous nights downtown at the bar. There was work to be done. Books to study and tests to ace. It was almost instinctual at this point to simply do as expected and never deviate. So when Nate finally decided to spend money on something that wasn't just some basic necessities or school related, it was a pretty major step. He'd heard of MMORPG's before. He'd spent enough time on the internet to have a decent idea of what they were all about. But it wasn't until he actually played one did he finally understand their allure. After a particularly solid score on one of his final exams, Nate figured he'd treat himself with the ever rare impulse purchase: a copy of the UK's most popular MMO and the first he'd ever gotten his hands on. It's not like his parents were around to judge him anymore for wasting time with games. And when he logged in for the first time, it all suddenly made sense. His years of perfectionism and study not only applied to the game's mechanics, they let him thrive in its world. He wasn't just some awkward college student here. He was a hero. He was a prominent member of a guild, a powerful spell caster specialized in the art of buffing others and pulling his party through tough situations. He was wanted. He belonged. And for the first time, his dedication to precision and study actually let him have some fun. And better still, he met several people he could connect with over the same passion. Oddly enough, the lair of a vicious dragon felt more like home than the rolling English countryside. He spent two years of his life delving into this fantasy landscape, forging friendships and fighting monsters. But word of something different was starting to spread through his guild. A game originally from Japan was starting to go global, and without even having to ask what it was, Nate was almost immediately excited. Over the past year or so he'd been casually looking into Elder Tale after finding a link to a few screenshots from it on one of his more frequently visited MMO related forum sites. It seemed incredibly ambitious, and the setting was absolutely compelling. It was more than just a standard fantasy realm, it was a recreation of Earth with a post apocalyptic fantasy flair. The idea of fighting off massive creatures in his own hometown was more than just a little thrilling to the man. So needless to say, when the game finally did get its UK release, he long with most of his guildmates picked up a copy. With Nate's history of playing support roles the Bard seemed a natural fit. He'd grown a bit tired of simply standing on the sidelines and casting buffs on his allies, so its more up close and personal method of attack was pretty exciting to see. That and... well, he'd be lying if he said the idea of playing a musician wasn't tempting. So what if he couldn't live out his teenage fantasies in the real world? At least he could do it online for his friends. After a while spent customizing his character he was finally ready to step into the world of Elder Tale as Flynn Warwick, a Wolf Hair Bard, master of the claymore and violin alike! Or... well... he would be after some grinding. Just have to confirm the character creation, connect to the server, and.... Connect to the server, aaaaand... C.. C-Connect to the server...? A window popped up displaying an ever dreaded message to the online gamer. NETWORK CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS. UGH. Of course, one of the most exciting nights in his gaming career and he can't even get into the game to experience it. Fantastic. With some relative upset he rose from his seat, shuffling over to his bed and collapsing. Maybe in the morning the internet would decide to cooperate. Still... he wished he could play tonight. He was looking forward to spending a few hours exploring the world with his guildmates, maybe even pull an all nighter! When he awoke the next morning in a very decrepit looking London, he realized just why it is you should be careful what you wish for. [attr="class","h3"]Extra |

As an attack it is average but upon use, it boosts the bard's evasion rate for a certain period of time so it is popular among front-line bards as it increases their survivability. One peculiarity about this skill is that the attack motions and dance are rather elaborate. When using a sword, it is like a sword dance, if a spear it will be used as a baton constantly twirling round and round at high speeds. There are different motions for every kind of weapon. The motions for the giant scythe would be to take the huge weapon and to spin it around like one would a pencil and is quite the sight to behold. The animation time of this skill is 3 seconds and its cooldown is 15 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Resonance Beat: Imbues a tune onto a weapon that allows the weapon to cause a shockwave on impact with the target's body. From this point on, the remnant shockwave remains on the target's body and acts like a time bomb ready to be set off by another attack. If the target is struck by an attack while Resonance Beat is still active, they suffer an increased amount of damage on the second blow. It is such that Bards who use percussion instruments and repeatedly use Resonance Beat are called "Drummers" or "Taiko masters". This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 20 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Speed Sword Etude: A lively song that makes one want to rush into battle, causing the surface of the skin to lightly sparkle during its duration. This tune causes all nearby party members' attack speeds to rise. This skill has a casting time of 3 seconds, a duration of 60 seconds and a cooldown time of 30 seconds. If it is used on a target that is currently affected by this buff, its duration resets to the full 60 second duration. [attr="class","skill"]Needlework: Due to the dexterity from which they perform their tasks, tailors are able to make up for any compromises in their ability. Any dexterity debuffs to a tailor can be recovered from twice as quickly. [attr="class","skill"]Checkpoint: When you're supposed to be delivering items all over the country, you need to be able to keep track of where your clients are supposed to be! This toggle skill scans the Courier's quest log and notifies them of each destination point or individual they need to meet with in order to complete the quest. This works as a tall pillar of light that can be seen from up to 100 meters away. Additionally, if the Courtier possesses a map of the list, these points are marked with a [QUEST] icon. Only the Courier is able to see these details. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Starter Leather Armor: A basic set of soft leather armor made from cheap leather. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Offand for Claymore [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Starter Claymore: A two-handed sword that uses its sheer mass to assist in cleaving foes. A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can.
