Firabar
Character Info
REAL NAME: Baran FiratREAL GENDER: Male, biological and identifying.
GAME GENDER: Male, biological and identifying.
AGE: 19, but is commonly mistaken for up to 21.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual, probably.
FACE-CLAIM: The Silver Knight, from this image: widehdwalls.com/images/big/silver_knight-794290.jpg
PLAYED BY: Firabar
RACE: Wolfhair
FACTION: Adventurer
Appearance Firabar's in-game avatar is a very tall, broad-shouldered, well built, even if somewhat overweight (although his friends don't seem to really consider him so) and pretty handsome. He is dark brown in both hair and eye colour, with his hair being dark enough to be mistaken for black. His face is rounded, but with a strong jaw. His eyes are large, though he tends to squint somewhat on particularly bright days, as his pupils are larger than average (which is meant to give him good night vision, but which seriously annoys him during the day. It doesn't actually affect his stats, however.) He has some rather... odd, traits, of course. Interestingly enough, he cannot recall women finding these as anything but attractive/adorable/"positively lovely", so that should tell you all you need to know about how extreme the following really are: 1. He has fairly large, luscious lips. This is, in fact, based on his real life body. They are not freakishly big, nor is it hugely noticeable until you get close to him, but a girl who applied his makeup for a play he was once part of commented that "He has such lovely lips - its so easy to put lipstick on them!" She then went on to wish she had lips like his. 2. Long eyelashes. Almost to the point of femininity, in fact. His hair is generally long enough that this is not noticed too much, but when he cuts his hair short, and/or you get a closeup with him, you would probably start laughing your butt off about him wearing mascara. He actually doesn't, and will proceed to insult you about how weak your own eyelash game is compared to his. 3. Big ol' eyebrows. Thick and dark. Enough said. 4. What would appear to be a black eye, but is in fact a magical burn scar. He was struck by an enchanted tonfa around his right eye (from his perspective) and although the wound healed, and it did not bleed much, the burn scar remains one of his defining features. It is dark blue beneath his eye, slightly less pronounced above it, and the skin there is rougher, deader, even, that the rest of his face. The real person (who used to be, at least) behind this character is... almost exactly the same. The burn scar, however, was simply a black eye gained from a particularly heated sparring match at his Kung Fu club, that stayed with him for a week or so past his character creation. Firabar also has some facial hair, and his in-game character is more toned than his real life body, but possesses generally the same qualities. As for clothing, the two iterations of his existence, 'real life' and 'in game' have similar cosmetic tastes. They tend to wear dark colours, without much decoration or patterning, with functional, combat-type trousers. On more formal occasions, he does look very good in a suit, but may decline to wear a waistcoat because it is quite hard to find one that he can button up comfortably. He cannot stand long sleeves. He thinks he looks better in short sleeves.(unless its formal wear, but even then it makes him uncomfortable) | Personality Firabar is an ambivert. He values both time alone/with few people (a romantic partner would be better than either, mind you) and among larger groups of friends. He possesses the capability to be very charming indeed, and is charismatic beyond most guardians' capabilities. Additionally, he has a good sense of empathy, and seems to naturally know the right thing to say to someone in emotional dire straits. More than once in the real world he has talked friends out of stupid decisions, and through this he is confident that he has genuinely saved lives already. Though this does make him good at social events and balls, or counseling those in distress, he very often becomes tired of this very quickly. I literally mean that he is exhausted by it, and if he were to continue attempting to be a rock for them to lean on, or even simply contributing to the life of the party past a certain point, it would begin to harm his psychological and emotional health. He generally knows when to back off, though, and let himself recuperate from social stuff (hence his ambiversion, and his predilection for hanging out with himself only, a romantic partner, or a close friend, alone). Interestingly, he likes girls more, even as friends. If you were to ask him why, he'd probably say that he doesn't quite know why, but that '... the company of men tends to go stale after a while.' He is not ruled by emotion; he values the needs of the many over the needs of the few. However, he is much less internally composed than this, and, if you pushed him, he would ashamedly admit that he would save his true friends over the rest of the world, if he had to choose. He'd probably never recover from such a choice, of course. But he would make one. He's a fair balance of logical thinking and emotional thinking, when it comes to smaller decisions. He recognises the benefits of purely logical reasoning, and is prone to lean towards it - especially when the rest of the group's preferences are at odds with each other's. However, he also ends up caring deeply for the people he travels, adventures, and lives with, and so will prioritize their desires over his own, if doing so will not harm the rest of the group, either immediately or in the long run. All this aside, he is actually a very spontaneous person. He will plan things out, be it his life, a book he's writing, or a day out with friends, but he's more than open to improvisation. His life does not generally have a lot of structure, in fact, and that's the way he likes it. Firabar is generally honest, and forgives people too easily - to a certain point. Past that, they will never re-earn his trust. He also has a fairly high machiavellian score, however, based not on his belief in Machiavelli's principles, but on his ability to use them when he needs to. This being said, it is by no means his strongest point, and he'll gladly leave it to someone else. Lastly, he will always put his friends first - and his lover just before them. Having been alone before, and having had living/dying alone become his worst fear, he will do everything in his power to prevent his friends from coming to harm. On his strengths and virtues - - He is understanding and kind, and inspires trust easily in others. - He can charm with ease and effect. - No matter what, he always means well, and his natural intelligence also generally means that his meaning well translates to what is usually best. - He has overpowered his natural fear of spiders, and is able to remove them from peoples' bedrooms easily. - He doesn't mind sharing food, as long as he has enough. - On his personal weaknesses and fears - He has a revolutionary way of thinking, which wouldn't be bad, if it didn't combine with his slightly extremist personality to equal what can, occasionally, be the start of a rather bad, morally ambiguous conflict. - His charm is limited in capacity past a certain point, and past that point, it will also begin to screw him up a little. More than a little, if he lets it go too far. - He knows how smart he is. However, this means that he will also generally assume that he is right, unless someone he trusts to be as smart as him, or smarter, and whom his believes would not betray or manipulate him, tells him he is wrong. When he starts to assert and fight for his beliefs, he is unlikely to stop, even if he is wrong. He is an INFP on the Myers-Briggs test. |
Extra
He is left handed, but will go between holding his sword and shield in that hand. In combat, he is actually ambidextrous.
He can play, and possesses, a violin. However, as he is not a bard, he cannot use it to give buffs and debuffs. (as it is not a gameplay-affecting piece of equipment I'll also give him a nice, high-quality one, with decent sound.) Additionally, because of his pre-existing musical skill, he can also sing in tune, and has a nice enough voice.
He is socialist.

Biography
His birth and childhood are unimportant. He was bullied, he hit back, it stopped after he began to draw their blood - and actually, he drew a fair amount of it. That was what made him take up martial arts - specifically, Kung Fu. When the apocalypse eventually happened, that would give him something of an edge over other players, because no matter how many abilities one has, the basic attack is still just a sword swing, and when it comes down to that, it matters who can swing better.
He got into music and the arts fairly early, too. By the time he was pulled into the game, he was a competent and skillful musician, and a good enough actor as well. By the time the apocalypse happened he was also to be enrolled in Medical School, with the goal of becoming a Paediatrician. This is what lead to him picking pharmacist as his crafting subclass in-game, actually. It was an odd one for a guardian to pick, but oh well.
Really, the most important thing that happened to him before he was apocalypse'd was his first romance.
Her name was Jeanne. She was of French heritage, petite build, and a sarcastic, intelligent, argue-at-your-peril demeanor. Her hair was raven black, her skin, pale as snow, and her lips seemed a natural red by comparison, and she played flute. She was, in fact, a year or so younger than Firabar, but with a mental age at least equal to Firabar's own, nobody questioned their eventual getting together. In fact, there were more questions about why it hadn't happened earlier.
You see, they had been dreaming of eachother for years, it seemed. It started, of course, as an innocent infatuation; he found her adorable, and she found him adorable. It progressed, naturally, but neither of them were, at this time, the most subtle of people, and it was their own self doubt alone that kept them from noticing the other's painfully awkward attempts at flirting.
First date?

Second date?
Defacing a dozen more.
They were perfect, and eventually, he introduced her to his world, a world of games and electronic wonderment.
He introduced her to Elder Tales.
She was a samurai, and good at it. During raids you would frequently see the two carving great swathes through the enemy's lines, with Firabar tanking more of the damage, and Jeanne dishing more out. They operated in perfect tandem, a beautiful machine, a single being in dance.
A dance of death.
For a while, they also became part of a PvP guild. At this point, they were level 90, of course, and among the most feared players in the warrior type classes for their perfect teamwork. In truth, the teamwork was at least partially because they were always together in the real world to play the game, but regardless.
In a huge conflict, however, near to the day of The Apocalypse, their guild was utterly destroyed in battle. The conflict was resolved shortly after, as their guild had been the mainstay of their side's forces, in which most of the tanks were located, and this short war was not to be recorded in history - not many of them were, before the Apocalypse.
Half of their members were killed (and regarded as 'out') in the first ten minutes. After that, they were halved again within the next 5 minutes, and then halved again in the next 2. At that point, their allies, and most of their own remaining fighters, fled, to avoid being PKed. These two were among the last standing on the battlefield. Somebody probably still has a screenshot of it; it was awesome.
Firabar died first. Naturally, the tankier one would.
Their guild was actually disbanded after that.
But you see, when this new British server was set up, and Firabar's character was remade at level 1 for it, Jeanne stayed behind on the Yamato server to 'sort out some last minute stuff' and was trapped there when the apocalypse happened.
Firabar believes she logged in at the same time as him, however, as that's how they always used to do it - together - and so he reasons that she must be stuck in Yamato.
However, his telepathic link is completely unable to reach her, and none of his friends list have logged in.
He is alone.

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Guardian
Anchor Howl
A loud soundwave is generated from the Guardian's position, encompassing the surrounding 5 meters in radius. This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a target is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 3 seconds, maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds. If the Guardian moves from their initial position, this skill is canceled.

Cool Defense
Toggle skill; the Guardian taps into their mana and creates an additional line of defense between them and the opponent's attacks. For every blow that the target lands on the guardian, a small amount will be nullified. This defense is made all the more apparent when it comes to weak multiple-strike attacks. The Guardian's MP is slowly sapped as this skill remains active.

Shield Smash
The Guardian's signature style is the large of a large shield. By ramming the opponent with this skill, it's essentially ramming the target with an iron wall. Naturally, such an action will pretty much interrupt any skill that an opponent is casting. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Shield Mastery: Tier I Skill
Passive skill. As the premiere tank of Elder Tale, the Guardian's signature equip is their large shield. It's rather bulky and takes some time to get used to for most players. However, considering the Guardian's playstyle, prolonged use means that they are unparalleled in terms of wielding shields. A Guardian with this skill can equip shields with an item level of up to 5 levels higher than their own Guardian class level.

Level 31 Tier II Skill: A skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. The skill may be either a Tier I or II skill. Unlocked at Level 31.
Roleplay Class: Hitman
Bounty: Passive skill. After a completed PvP thread, if the Hitman was victorious in battle, they gain an amount of gold equal to the amount that they acquired from their posts. The PvP thread is then locked after this bonus is applied. To apply this bonus, PvP fights cannot be solo threads versus NPCs.
Crafting Class: Pharmacist
Toxicity Tolerance: Pharmacists have developed a certain resistance around drugs. This skill can be toggled to make a pharmacist immune to status debuffs caused by potions. Additionally, they passively recover twice as fast from poison status effects.
