Appearance Kadence is a girl of average height and a slender build, her skin tone a bit tanned from being outdoors. Her hair is tied with a series of straw braids in the front, creating two separate parts, and the rest flows down her back, past her waist. Her eyes are rounded and a shade of dark brown, but you'd never be able to tell as her eyes are usually squinted and frequently closed whenever she plays music. Kadence favors comfortable clothing with the freedom to move (but conserving her modesty), in light colors like white and olive when she can get them. Robes and dresses are a favorite, though she may switch to a shirt and pants when doing something more athletic. When walking around, Kadence is typically shy and non-confrontational, and will try to hide from anyone with an appearance she deems "scary". When she is able to relax, she'll let herself flop down anywhere. This is partially a result of her timid nature, and partially a result of her fear of her secret (her true gender) getting out. | Personality Timid is the best way to describe Kadence. She's very non-confrontational, and hates being in large crowds or noisy places, valuing time in quiet places with people she cares for above all else. Kadence likes to think before she acts, sometimes to her detriment as she over-thinks the situation before her, resulting in a much more confusing mess. She's admittedly a bit of a push-over as well, quick to please in any way she can, but would be content to sit back and watch time pass by if people would let her. She's a little dishonest with her thoughts concerning her secret, but otherwise, she's quite honest about her mood and thoughts, though it can sometimes be lost in translation. Everett didn't have a lot of friends, and as a result, Kadence is very protective of those she does have, to the point that she may need to be instructed not to throw herself in front of allies, especially tank classes, if she thinks they'll get hurt. This fierce loyalty can allow her to overcome her timidity (at least for a short while) to find courage she didn't know she had. While she's not much of a talker, Kadence is great at listening to others who have problems, and who better to keep a secret than someone who doesn't speak? She's also very kind, being sure others are happy before she worries about herself. |
Extra
Everett is ambidexterous, and Kadence carries this over as well. Before the catastrophe, Everett used to play the ukelele, which has helped him immensely as a bard.
Biography
Everett Richardson was a somewhat shy, quiet high school student with a talent for the ukelele and a love for gaming. In his awkward teenage years, Everett was a bit shy and his thin, gangly build left him at the mercy of larger, more athletic and male classmates. Despite this, Everett had a few friends who he shared interests with, and had a good relationship with his band teacher, Mr. Kovach. His grades were decent, and he was looking forward to graduation in a few years.
It was near the end of his freshman year that one of his friends introduced him to Elder Tales through one of those 30-day free trial CDs. Quickly, Everett became entralled with this world of magic and adventure, and played it nearly exclusively for the next few years. His initial character was a Guardian, though he went on to try several other classes as well before finally settling on a female Bard named Kadence.
Now, Everett's group of friends was a target for the school's jocks, a typical result of high school heirarchy. It was one day when they were discussing Elder Tale's upcoming expansion that they were overheard by the jocks. One of them caught on to the fact that Everett's character was female, and the teasing began. "We knew you were kinda girly, but this is new." "Shall we get your nails painted, madam?" "So this is why you nerds can't get girlfriends!" Much to Everett's horror, his friends took advantage of the fact that the focus was off them for once, leaving him to deal with the torment on his own.
In his isolation, Everett turned to Elder Tales, where he'd been treated just fine- though Kandace's character became that of a mute bard when he turned the chat off. Everett hadn't initially planned on playing the new expansion- his friends had kind of left him, and a lot of MMOs are the social aspect. He eventually caved, reasoning it was probably his only social contact with anyone these days, and purchased the Novasphere Pioneers update, starting anew on a new server. As soon as the game booted up, he created Kandace once more and started play- and was pulled into the world of Elder Tales.
Inventory
Beginner’s Lute: A cheap little instrument for aspiring musicians and novice bards, made out of cheap materials. They don’t really play too well, but at least you can play something.
EQUIPMENT
Left Arm None | Armor Starter Cloth Armor: A basic set of cloth armor made from cheap fabric. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. | Right Arm Starter Lance: A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron and wood. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. |

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Bard
Mythic Script:
A toggle skill that uses a negligible amount of mana when it is activated. A skill that allows characters to write messages using pure mana. This message normally lasts for roughly a day if written on a surface or a minute if written in the air, before dissipating into the atmosphere. However, if the message is not exposed to the elements, such as within the bindings of a book, it is possible to preserve a message for months or even years. Taking this skill allows one to see these messages as well, for they are normally invisible to the untrained eye. It has been hypothesized that Ancient Age grimoires are composed from prayers and incantations written in mana onto paper that has been specifically designed to preserve its presence. Keep in mind that although this skill allows one to read writings in mana, it does not help with comprehension.

Maestro Echo: Tier I
A skill that targets a single ally and attenuates the flow of mana generating from their body. For 30 seconds, every time the ally performs an offensive magic skill, the Bard will also cast the same skill. This copied spell is only about half as strong as the original, but retains the same effects of the original. Each time this skill is activated, there is a guitar-like SE and a shining effect. This skill has a cooldown of 50 seconds.

Mediation Nocturne: Tier I
A relaxing melody that gradually regenerates party members' MP. This restoration is moreso apparent outside of battle, but it might come of practical use in the middle of a grueling raid. When in effect, the surface of a targeted character's skin appears to glow with a light blue tint. This skill has a casting time of 4 seconds, a duration of 40 seconds, and a cooldown of 60 seconds.

Ode of the Timid: Tier I Skill

Ode of the Timid adjusts the amount of aggro generated in battle by raising the aggro-inducing potential of tank classes, while reducing that of every other class. This skill has a casting time of 5 seconds, a duration of 20 seconds, and a cooldown of 35 seconds.

Roleplay Class: Priestess
Holy Aura: A skill that places holy protection upon the target, lasting for an entire hour. Characters affected by Holy Aura recover from Mind/Curse status effects twice as fast as usual. Additionally, Corruption from Miasma and Heretic skills will now start to decrease two cycles after exposure, instead of three. This skill has a casting time of 4 seconds and a cooldown of 60 seconds. Recasting the skill causes its duration to reset.
Crafting Class: Scribe
Transcription: Transcription: Scribes are known for their ability to copy and examine documents carefully. This allows them to obtain the Adventurer skill [Mythic Script] as a Beginner-level skill without it taking up a skill slot. Their knowledge also allows them to use and read grimoires in the Ancient Text, allowing them to use grimoires without penalties and perform some basic magic attacks depending on their Magic stat. If the character can already use grimoires through racial or class bonuses, grimoire damage increases by 10%.
