Sayha awoke in a daze. She was standing somewhere outside, and the sun was blinding her. “Where the hell am I?” she asked out loud to no one in particular. She blinked, using her hand to shadow her eyes, and looked around. At first, she thought she was looking at the background on her computer. It was the image of Londonium from the game Elder Tales, a game she had been waiting a while to play. After she blinked again though, she realized it wasn’t her computer screen.
Sayha remembered what had happened before she blacked out. She had been in her room with the door locked to keep her prying, annoying step-mother out of her personal space. She remembered finishing up some coding she has been commissioned to do, sending it to the clients, and then opening the Elder Tales game. She had heard about the game before over the years; however, she didn’t want to play with lag, the most evil thing to happen to a gamer. When she found out that the Unfounded Kingdom gave England their own server, she had been ecstatic.
Today had been the day that the Unfounded Kingdom had been released, and she immediately downloaded the game. However, she waited to create her log-in and character until after she had finished her coding job. That was when her memories started to blur. She remembered creating the log in and deciding on what type of character to make, but then everything afterwards was black until she awoke at the scene where her desktop picture was.
Sayha carefully looked around, taking in what she saw and felt. There was a slight breeze, and she felt it blow her hair. Around her was what would be considered a post-apocalyptic London. She felt her surrounding, feeling the cold stone under her touch. She took a deep breath. There was no mistaking it. She had somehow been transported INTO the Elder Tales game.
Sayha put her hands on her sides, feeling the grips of her two katanas. She wasn’t unfamiliar with how to use them thanks to her years of martial arts classes. She unsheathed them, feeling their weight in their hands. When she studied them, a green pop-up appeared with the name of the katanas and their flavor text. She quickly sheathed them and studied her armor as well. Everything she wore was basic, start up gear. She was probably stuck with this gear for a while, at least until she leveled up and quested or at least got gold or whatever the currency was in this game.
“I wonder how many people are stuck here with me,” she said aloud, “but then again, that doesn’t really matter too much. However, maybe someone would have more information on what the hell’s going on. Then again, it may be cheaper to go exploring on my own. If I run into someone, I run into someone.”
After making up her mind, she made her way through town, trying to recognize and memorize the streets and places she saw.
