The moon was high in the night sky, illuminating the streets outside the tavern. Fletcher meanwhile had found himself in his room again, Carbuncle cuddled up on his bed, while the dwarf sat on the floor with a mug of tea. He'd wandered downstairs earlier, using the latern to guide his way downstairs to where Celeste had shown him where to fix a drink in the middle of the night. The tavern had shut early due to some family issue but Fletcher and a few other regular borders had been allowed to continue staying over the couple of nights the tavern would not be in business. It was dark downstairs, and trecherously so with the amount of bottles still laying on the ground from the night before they had to suddenly rush off.
It did give Fletcher a new idea for a device however, especially if his lamp wasn't performing too the extent that it needed to; granted, he could make it stronger but it would be more cumbersome if he did so. What he needed was something more portable and strong enough to be useful. In essence he needed a flashlight, although such an advance on an oil lamp seemed oddly out of place.
However what the world lacked in technological advances it did have Alchemy, and by extention MagiTech. He could rig something up although he'd need to have the same basic components that his lamp did. He'd need case, some Reinforced Wire, some Mana Fragments and some other odds and ends to boost the flow of mana through the device. He could jerry rig something now and make a proper one when the morning sun came and the markets opened. He looked to Carbuncle who was sleeping peacefully on the bed. Much like last time the fox has become tuckered out after being fawned on by some of the people left at the tavern. Fletcher rubbed his hands together and got to work.

Fletcher tipped his junkpile onto the floor to assess what materials he had to make his flashlight. He needed something cylindrical to act as the casing and chose another broken spyglass that he had bought up when he decided to try making his Alchemist's Goggles. He bought up a few of these in the off chance he could get binoculars to work or just needed the lenses for something in the future. Given that he was now using the rest of the spyglass he was pleased at his fortune when it came to amassing random trash. Pulling apart the telescopic sections, leaving him a set of cylinders made of old metal with parts beginning to rust.
Sourcing out the wire was easy enough. He had a spool of wire that he used to make the reinforced version by braiding it together and charging it with mana. So, taking three equal lengths of this wire and braiding them together, he effectively made the circuit that the mana would flow through in order to power the flashlight. Fletcher took the wire and one of the thinner cylinders before wrapping the former around the latter to make himself a handle. The power source for this one was the same as the lamp, either charged by one's own mana or a Mana Fragment placed in the recess at the back.
The lenses he had retrieved he was planning on overlaying to magnify the light created by the device, although he still needed something to emit said light. He had no spare light bulbs, but what he did have was a fairly large chunk of quarts with a small hole drilled into it. What he proceeded to do was place a Mana Fragment inside it and cap it off with a scrap of the wire, hooking it up to the rest of the circuit. For a thing cobbled together out of spare parts and scrap pieces it looked the part, although it would need to be finished off and then tested before he could call this creation a success.

With the circuitry installed, Fletcher then had to make the housing for the rest of the flashlight, including his makeshift bulb. In amongst his junk he had a small glass jar which he figured would work. Unfortunately, the opening to the jar and the cylinder from the spyglass he already had prepared didnt't pair up. "That would've been a little too straightforward..." He placed the jar aside, rummaging some more before finding the casing to an old compass. He looked to it, the cylinder, and then the jar. It wouldn't be pretty, but so long as it worked it didn't need to be fancy.
He'd become well practised at pulling things apart for pieces and did so to the compass fairly quickly, leaving him with a wider but stout cylinder alongside the rest of the pieces of the compass. Fletcher took the original lenses and placed them inside the jar with a small amount of glue, hoping to use them to magnify the light emitted from the quartz once mana was running through it.
The next pieces to glue were the individual segments that made up the legnth of the flashflight, starting with the handle, then the joint made of the top part of the compass, followed by the glass jar with the quartz already resting inside. What Fletcher had after all his work was a wreck of an item in appearance, but as he held it a beam of light shone out the end, causing Carbuncle to stir when the light was directed towards the bed.
It ran comfortably off his own MP but similarly to the lamp but the light was more focused; that was the main difference. Mana Fragments worked just as well, but in terms of making this an item he could sell, he'd need to make the MP cost more efficient. That said, with one of these you could comfortably go wandering around on an overcast night or even in the sewers where light was harder to come by. With flashlight in hand though, he figured that he'd have a much easier time going to go get drinks in the middle of the night, at least for the next twenty four hours.

Fletcher was ready to move into the next stage of his development as a budding Alchemist now that he had some levels under his belt. Alchemists were the masterminds that worked with the elements along with magical technology. It was only after one learned the basics that they could start applying their knowledge of how the elements worked to create the truely wonderous. Fletcher's first experiment for an Alchemist of his calibre would be to make an Elemental Bauble. In essence, they were almost a carbon copy of the Mana Fragments that he'd made prior, or possibly closer to an Unstable Mana Core, but biased to an elemental tendency and seals to stop the mana from leaking out when not in use.
The baubles themselves were neat decorations, but they served many a purpose. Fletcher had his own list of theoretical uses for this baubles but had yet to properly play with them. Baubles with a higher purity of one element seemed to work better in practise as told by an Alchemist he had run into in the market when browsing MagiTech. Artificial sources of the elements, such as those from an elemental Follower or from a Sorceror's spells yeilded low quality baubles and should be avoided. The dwarf didn't, as always, need a high quality finished product; he just wanted something to play around with and check another recipe off his list of things to try.
In preparation for this, he'd grabbed a reinforced glass sphere from an Artisan in the marketplace that had failed to make it into a Magic Orb weapon or something to that effect. Fletcher was more a whip and book type of person, so paid the fancy magical orbs little mind when it came to picking up a new weapon. For what he needed it for though, it was perfect and the Artisan was willing to sell it to him cheap which made it even better. From the market he had taken it along with Carbuncle to the park in order to do this in an open space rather than the crampeed room he did most of his experiments in. "Alright Carbuncle, I'm going to pour mana into this orb, and what you're going to do is attune that as best you can to yourself. Should make the mana Light element in nature, right?" If Carbuncle could've shrugged it probably would have but seemed to be fine to give it a shot all the same.
Fletcher placed the orb on the ground and rubbed his hands together starting to channel mana into it from his Heal spell. While he was doing this, Carbuncle's gem started to shine and the mana flowing into the device became influenced and took on the stereotypical colour of Light element magic, shiny glitter effect and all. What Fletcher had readied himself for, but knew he could not stop all the same was the outside elements influencing what went into the orb. While portions of what he had fuelled into the orb were Light element, there were other things in there too, stemming from the air, dirt and grass around them leaving a mishmash of elements with Light just being the stronger of all the ones in it. The dwarf frowned, picking up the orb, now sealed with more mana and examining the interior. There were bits floating around in it to show what alignments it had. It wasn't great, but he wasn't trying for great; hell, he wasn't even really trying for good.
The end result was clear and functionally good enough for what he wanted to accomplish. "Consider that another recipe crossed off, Carbuncle." Fletcher pocketed the orb as Carbuncle chirred in delight before getting comfortable on the grass while its master decided what they were doing next.

There were things to be made and Fletcher was going to be the one to make them. One of the new recipes for his level was referred to as a MagiTech Inductor, and it seemed straightforward enough to make based on what he'd already made prior. Simply put, this item would allow the user to send mana wirelessly to MagiTech devices in place of having to manually handle the device in question. Sadly it was restricted in use as only those proficient in the use of such devices could use it to its fullest. That wasn't to say people that weren't proficient couldn't use it, they may just have a harder time.
Fletcher was in a position to be able to make this and test it out given he'd made items that ran off of mana before, but nothing so large. Granted, it didn't need to be large to work, it just needed to run off of mana and he just needed to send that mana wirelessly. Fletcher placed his Mana Powered Lamp on the floor at one side of the room and set up his craft at the other, taking out his trusty spool of wire. He was almost needing to get another spool, but for an expense he made a while back it had definitely paid off. Taking four identical lengths of wire he began to coil them around each other to keep some of its malleability when he was done.
Next was to call out Carbuncle and to give the fox one end of the other while he held the other, charging it up to make the Reinforced Wire as they had done before. The trick to this was to relay channelling mana up and down it's length like a game of hot potato. Carbuncle knew what was going on and it was almost as if it were second nature now. That said, it could have just been a symbol of how strong a bond between master and summoner had become. In no time at all the wire between the two gave off a soft glow, but the task was only half done. Carbuncle dropped the wire out of its mouth, letting Fletcher take up the responsibility to do the next part.
Fletcher started to wrap the wire around his wrist, keeping it loose enough that it could easily slip on and off so it was out of the way. As he was using low quality materials, he had to make things slightly bigger than they needed to be to make sure he saw if it was working. When the wire was now in a continuous loop, Fletcher started rapidly casting any spell that generated Mana in order to condense it down onto the wire, as if making a Mana Fragment. As the energy collected onto the wire loop it crystalised, almost looking like it was covered by a translucent silicon covering, although was less rubbery to the touch. It was easier to make items like this when it was just a matter of tweaking the method ever so slightly to produce something different.
The dwarf eyed the lamp at the other side of the room, and began to focus transmitting mana from his own being into the makeshift bracelet and then into the lamp. It sprung to life and then died down to a light barely comparable to a candle. So while it worked, it was going to take some getting used to making these so that a lot of energy wasn't wasted on the transfer.

As Fletcher's prowess in the alchemical arts grew, so did his need for more equipment to handle some of the more explosive sides to his chosen profession. There were a few experiments he wanted to try, and a few gadgets he wanted to make, but the inherent problem with working with those levels of raw mana gave them the tendency to sometimes explode; or so he heard. This was less of an issue if you were working outside or had a dedicated workspace in which to haphazardly throw mana around, but Fletcher had neither of these things, at least not one he'd be willing to risk destruction in a calculation gone wrong. This led him to his current excersize of making protective gear purely for the benefit of making more things.
Scrolling down his recipe menu he looked for anything that seemed worthwhile. While he'd made himself goggles before, how the system treated them was more an accessory than something more akin to armour or giving any defensive value. They were still nice to have and when it came to making things as it gave him an extra level of control when installing parts, but wouldn't stop things from exploding. Alchemist's Gloves would given its description as magitech gloves meant for these kinds of purposes, but Fletcher was the kind of man to doubt that even magic couldn't always stop magic. Granted, once he had made them he could give them a proper test run; outside. What was needed seemed to be a pair of welders gloves or something akin to that, a magitech inductor which he'd made prior, and a mana fragment. Aside from the gloves, the other things were easy enough to just pull out of his junkpile and assemble, although a trip down to the market to buy some gloves was arguably just as easy.
Fletcher ducked out to the market in St Pancras and returned with an old pair of welding gloves in a dark brown. He knew they weren't the highest of quality but all he needed them for was a mount to install the inductor. Given that the inductor was just a ring of wire with a crystalline coating, the extra mana fragment was bound to just act like glue or some kind of magically conductive adhesive to keep the two parts together. He wasn't sure what was going to do when he combined it all together given he could slip the inductor directly over his hand and it'd work fine. He decided it was best not to question how magic worked.
Sitting the gloves down on the table the dwarf got to work, teasing out the inductor to slip it over the gloves and bond it to the leather with another mana fragment. The pair of gloves sparked and then died down, leaving Fletcher to wonder if something had gone wrong. The dwarf grumbled to himself, frowning, before picking up the gloves and trying them on, the backs of them coated in a crystalline substance that must've been from the treatment of the inductor and added mana fragment. He had no idea if they had worked, but he had a fancier pair of gloves than he had started with that vibrated gently in the presence of mana.

With his new gloves, Fletcher wanted to try out another new thing and see what exactly he was capable of doing with his new instrument. From what he gathered from how they responded to mana was that it was capable of directly manipulating it in a way that he was unable to without using it as a proxy. To what extent it was hard to say given that he had yet to try it out, but he did have a throw away item that if it all went wrong, he didn't mind losing. He'd made so many things to date but nothing close to the breakthrough that he'd hoped he'd have made by now. There were mechanics making some wonderful things and leaving their mark on the world, and Fletcher very much wished to be the same. He hadn't made any weapons, not had he gotten any closer to sorting out his goals of magitech transportation, but surely he was getting closer.
Fletcher placed the elemental bauble on the workbench, slipping on his alchemist's gloves and breathing out a sigh. This thing was made outside where the elements were flourishing and mixed with very little controll over what it picked up. Between Carbuncle and himself, they were able to bias it somewhat towards the light element, but it still wasn't as pure as it could be. In order to make it pure, there were a few options, but it really boiled down to whether they could remove the unnecessary elements or just start over from scratch. Level played a factor into its creation as well to add further complications, but given that what he had before him was an item that he really had no use for, trying to break it down seemed to be the option he'd get the most out of. The dwarf picked up the bauble in both hands, rubbing over the surface to see if after all this time it had suffered any fractures or was bulging unnecessarily in places.
Overall the condition of the bauble was fine, although through the surface of the glass he could see the mixture of elements swirling around each other like a tangled mess. Bringing one hand back, he felt a pull from the bauble, tendrils of mana being drawn from the orb itself and then dissipating away. Fletcher tried it again and watched carefully, seeing how little an amount was coming out thanks to the gloves. He'd had practise, and a lot of it, at channelling mana both ways, so he had a vague idea of where to start when it came to trying to extract just the elements he didn't need from the orb. Little by little the dwarf teased out the unwanted earth, water, wind and dark mana, leaving him with just a ball of light elemental energy. Fletcher wasn't satisfied though, and topped up the empty space on the inside with his own mana, keeping the overall power of the object on par with when he had started.

"What are you wanting to make again?" Warren looked over Fletcher's shoulder as he settled in at the borrwed workspace from the other dwarf. For a long time coming Fletcher had dreams of making his first alchemical breakthrough, the first of many required to reach his magnum opus, whatever there would turn out to be much further down the track. There had been talk, and a lot of time coming for a lightsaber for those more inclined to use swords and wanted that sci-fi feel when fighting creatures. He was not ready for that just yet, but he had an idea on how to at least take the first few steps to get there. Worse case scenario he made something else,, but he'd find a use for whatever whacky invention he came up with; he always did.
The main trouble with just making a lightsaber was that in order to get the same effect, a few criteria had to be met in order for it to be more than just a glowy stick or crudely painted baton. Granted, the first step was to just make a glowy baton and figure the rest out later, given everything else just came down to convenience, ergonomics and good marketing; thanks to Bailin, he was at least a little bit wiser on how marketing to people in Londinium was supposed to work. He'd yet to make his jetpack, but without the assistance of a Mechanic he wasn't sure how to get all the functioning parts neatly packed together. "I'm just gonna try making a thing. Wanna see if I can isolate elements and directly imbue them into weaponry." Warren shrugged and pushed back the curtain leading into the storefront, letting the older dwarf get on with it. He was an Artisan, so anything the Alchemists decided to try out was way beyond his scope of thinking as an artist; so long as he didn't get the place blown up, everything was good in his books.
Things that glowed included fireflies, plasma, the sun, and several breeds of bioluminescent moss. Of the listed, the only one that seemed appropriate was going to be the plasma, followed by the sun. Reason? Lightning and Fire were both elements in this game, so that would be more in line to what a lightsaber needed, although he just wasn't equipped for making something like that just yet. What he did have the capacity to make though was an Elemental Source sphere he had made thanks to Carbuncle's help; given the latent Light element held within the orb, he should be able to see if the element was being channelled through the weapon he had. The prospect of a glowing whip aside, if it worked he could make swords of fire, spears of lighting, and axes of ice just as easily to name a few.
Fletcher placed the first whip he owned on the bench; it was only a level one weapon, but it would serve enough of a purpose for this experiment. Next came out the Elemental Source Sphere, which he sat next to it, comparing the size of the two. Now there were two ways to rig this up: He could either run Reinforced Wire up the length of the whip running directly from the source sphere, or he could make something new to disperse the elemental magic on its own accord. The latter seemed more elegant an excersize, and would mean that it could be grafted onto any weapon without the need of rigging up a magical circuit as well. Sadly, the same thing wouldn't be very useful for shields or armour without some minor adjustments due to how the elemental energy was going to be intended to disperse; although with a few tweaks it was entirely possible to make a modifcation to a Mana Liner Shield and get it working that way.
Warren had a bunch of spare parts laying around, and so long as Fletcher paid him for what he used in one form or another, he was free to use whatever he liked under the provison that he didn't blow the joint up. Fletcher had a fondness for the sphere as an accent to the weapon, so decided to try and find something akin to that in order to use as a base. Understanding the layout of this particular pile of junk was pretty much the same as any other pile of junk in the store; impossibile. Fletcher had discovered early that this place was best treated as a treasure hunt, and one that only the truely creative could find worth in. A bad of marbles was the closest thing to round objects that Fletcher could find amongst the trash unless he wanted to weld together panels and beat them into a round shape which in itself could take hours potentially. He brought them over to the workspace and sat them alongside the whip and the Elemental Source Sphere. They were rudimentary components, but it was a prototype, if it all went well he'd go about welding the parts himself when he knew that the excersize was going to be worth the time sink.
The first step was the extract the elemental mana from the source sphere and condense it down into the marble so it was the elemental equivilent of being radioactive before he would apply it to the weapon. Having had many times to practise flowing specifically light elemental magics thanks to having Carbuncle around nearly every waking hour including most sleeping ones, this would be a breeze. He focused on the sphere and twitched his fingers as if teasing the air of invisible strands of molassas, working slow and pressing them into the surface of the marble. He wasn't sure about the exact science behind what he was doing, but it was magic, and as far as he could tell this was the best way for him to mentally envision what needed to be done to transpose the mana into another object. The light began to fade from the sphere he was working from, whereas the glass marble had a radiant lustre to it that it had lacked prior, the swirling energies clearly visible beneath the surface. Fletcher reached out to touch the marble and found that the energy it was containing was ebbing and flowing from the object; it was a closed space so the energy wasn't going very far, and was tethered to its container almost like a gravitational pull.
Fletcher looked from the marble to his whip, uncertain whether or not it would actually work given the overall quality of the sphere he had made. Turned out that the warning on the recipe was correct, and a low quality sphere was going to yield low quality results. He threw caution to the wind and picked up the possibly radioactive marble, feeling it hum through his hand, up his arm, and then through his whole body. Fletcher rolled the ball around in his hand before slipping it into the braiding of his whip, setting it aside and blowing out the light on the candle that he was working by. For whatever reason Warren didn't want Fletcher to provide him better lighting aside from what was already installed, and when the globe broken in the back soon, refused to get it fixed. For a little while nothing stood out of the ordinary in the dark before Fletcher's eyes started to adjust to the dark. Or perhaps it wasn't adjusting, but rather the energy from the sphere was seeping into his whip. The dwarf took a closer look and found that similar to low-grade glow in the dark stickers children found popular sometimes, his whip was giving off a similar glow. It wasn't bright, impressive, or anything of the sort, but it now had the trait of glowing.
Using the light provided by the whip, Fletcher tried digging around for the marble that he had placed amongst the leather braiding. He'd found it, but it was now fused to the fibers of the leather, not wanting to budge without risk of tearing the whip apart. "Well I'll be..." Fletcher sat back, looking at the whip he had modified with a contented smirk on his face. Now he'd have to upscale it and try it on other things to make sure, but he'd need to head out and stop by the weapon shop as well as make another source sphere. That aside though, he was content at calling that a complete success.

Magitech weapons were supposedly uncovered some time ago when the breakthrough into firearms made itself known amongst the populace of the Unfounded Kingdom. Up until this point, Fletcher had been sticking to a whip over even his grimoire for the convenience of how it worked. Books firing magical projectiles while using up an already dwindling resource from his follower was not something that appealed all that much. For some though, that MP they had stored wasn't doing much, and some were looking into options of using up an otherwise dead resource. What Fletcher did know of Magitech weapons, or what had been told about how they operated was that they were functionally the same as regular weapons but drained a small amount of MP on inpact to deal bonus damage. Now this was just raw extra power, not some elemenetal conversion found on some of the weapon reforges that Blacksmiths were able to imbue.
As far as Fletcher could tell, the things needed to make something like that would include a live current of mana running along the striking edge of the weapon, some way to draw the mana out of the user of the weapon and for convenience sake, some kind of toggle switch to use the ability or even just to turn it off if you didn't want to have your MP draining so fast. There was one person who immediately came to mind that could use such a weapon, and so with that person in mind Fletcher got to work. Creating things had become akin to making a cake from instant cake mix bought from the store, with a vague iddea of what the end product would look like on the box, some basic instructions on the back, along with a rudimentary list of ingredients one may need. In this, Fletcher was able to at least break down what he'd need to do prior to beginning, and then would know what to look for when searching the market or his own inventory for parts.
To make a large enough current to travel along the weapon, he'd need a long bit of Reinforced Wire. That much was easy to make given how much of a staple it had proven to be when making alchemical toys. Really anything that needed mana transferring from one place to another seemed to be an adequate calling for Reinforced Wire, to the point that Fletcher was quite proud at his method of putting it together as fast as he did. Granted, a lot of that could come down purely to practise, although it was still useful. The toggle switch was another easy one given another Alchemist had invented just the thing, essentially being an on and off switch for anything that ran off of mana. He briefly considered installing it on basically anything that ran off of mana, but decided against it; perhaps when he needed to make a better lantern he'd consider it, but for the time being his focus was on making this weapon. Drawing the mana out of the person without them having to concentrate on it proved to be a little more difficult. He could possibly just rig it up so that it vaccuumed out mana so long as it was held, although that seemed dangerous. Fletcher had Alchemist's Gloves to do that job on his behalf, but not everyone would have one nor would want to be wearing them in combat given how bulky and in the way they were. It seemed pretty straightforward when his eyes came to rest on the gloves he was wearing.
The Alchemist's Gloves for the most part were ordinary gloves with just an inductor stuck to the back and reinforced with a mana fragment. It wasn't overly pretty, but it did contain mana pretty well. He'd need to get a weapon to try this out with, but weapons were mostly a dime a dozen if you were looking for discarded lower levelled weapons or even crafting rejects. So long as the theory worked he could apply it properly later, a common practise for the dwarf. Besides, the weapon he was intending to make for his friend was going to be a lot larger than just a common dagger or even a sword; he'd need to make sure it worked on something smaller before scaling it up for the sake of saving on materials if the experiment didn't work.

St Pancras was known as the shopping hub when you wanted something in Londinium. That wasn't to say that it had everything; on the contrary, it had very limited scope when you were looking for some of the more exotic goods, but what it did have it had in large supply and in varying qualities. Truely, it was a low level crafter's paradise. Given Fletcher already had most of the parts he needed, all that was left was to get a base for the weapon he was intending to make. While yes, he could've asked Bailin to borrow the forge and some tools to just engineer one or cut one out of sheet metal, that would involve another division of assets and for the time being he wanted this little experiment to be his own. He'd fill in his business partner later; after he'd solidified the process and recipe.
The particular store that Fletcher was looking for was a fairly well travelled weapons store that sat on the outskirts of the market. It's prime location meant that most travelling adventurers looking for a weapon stopped there first, made their purchase all within the span of minutes if that. It had the reputation for taking pride in it's swift customer service and wide variety of armaments to choose from. Fletcher wandered up to the store and looked around for the front door. With everyone wandering back and forth, it was hard to tell where people were filtering in and out of the store from. Sure enough, eventually a break in the crowd let Fletcher slip through, and he found himself just on the inside of the doorway of the weapon's store. Rows of weapons and alike were hung on stands and shelves that seemed to cover every inch of the wall, categorised based on weapon type and size.
The sudden display of so many weapons left Fletcher lost for words. Up until this point he'd been using a basic whip that he'd bought from another store to replace his older starting one. This was on a whole new level though. What he knew about his friend was that he likes his swords big. Comically big. So big that even an anime character would turn around and say, "Listen buddy, I think that sword might be too big." Granted, that may have been what a portly looking clerk was trying to tell a quite petite looking girl who was in the market for a weapon of her own, heaving and struggling to get the weight of the sword she was holding under control. It was a wonder how Sark made it look so easy while still being nimble with his fingers in order to be such a top notch tailor. First things first, Fletcher needed to purchase a couple of weapons to try this all out on, and then something to craft his present with. His hand ran along the shelves, taking in the different options he had. In theory, his experiment if successful should be able to apply to a variety of different weapon types, so he better get a few different ones just to be sure.
His end list included a crude, level one dagger, a more respectable level twenty duelling sword, and of course the most anime-fantasy sword he could find and that the store was willing to help him cart down the road to Warren's place for him to work on it. He'd start with the dagger, knowing full well that if it came to it he could throw it someone in his next party to try out, or at least the assumption was there that everyone could at least use the most basic of daggers. You stab them with the sharp bit, how hard could that be? The duelling sword he may hang onto given that he could use it. He preferred to work with magic rather than melee combat, but the option would be nice. If it all didn't pan out to be quite to his liking he could pass it off to Dumah to use on his next crazy adventure; given the Swashbuckler didn't use two swords, it struck Fletcher as a potential monetary problem after investing so much time and perhaps money into making Noihara.
The big sword was going to Sark regardless; Fletcher couldn't stand the weight and size of that thing, but for some reason it looked like it'd be the perfect fit. Granted, he'd still need to modify it to give it that certain special touch that would make it truely a custom made gift, but that would come in time. After all, if all else fails, Fletcher could always just pass off getting it as loot or something. The younger dwarf was sure to get a kick out of whatever freebie came his way, although he was likely just to be thankful regardless due to the naturally friendly aura he exuded. If he was genuinely upset or disappointed in the gift, there was not really going to be any way to really be sure about that.

The dagger was first to come up to the plate to be worked on. Fletcher had devoted some of the setup time to making a whole lot of Reinforced Wire and Inductors before starting. He only had a few I/O Regulators, but they were easy enough to uninstall and reuse if the weapon just wasn't working. Laying the parts on the workspace before him, he double checked what he was going to do several times over before picking up some tools. Warren poked his head in, nearing no explosions and was curious to know what exactly was going on. When he saw Fletcher concentrating and double checking his pieces before getting to work, the Artisan backed off knowing full well the zone in which the other dwarf was in. It was that 'I am preparing my mind for crafting' zen place that let you create works of art. Another way of saying it was that Fletcher was pumping himself up to 'get into the zone' for making a masterpiece, something that Warren still struggled with when making sculptures. Breaking down the anatomy of the dagger, Fletcher comprised it of three parts. First was the blade, or the stabby end; this was going to be part that he'd have to run an active current through in order to get his bonus damage effect that he wanted. Second was the cross guard; it was more pronounced on things like swords, but daggers sometimes had them too just in case you were in close quarters and had to parry with it. The option was there to mount something to it, but being in the way of potentially incoming weapons made it seem like mounting anything to it could get that installed part damaged quite easily. Lastly there was the handle, which would be the point of contact between the user and the weapon to make the circuit alive with an active flow of mana. This would be the part where he'd have to install the I/O Regulator to give it the capacity to turn on and off, as well as a whole lot of Reinforced Wire in other to make sure the connection as strong as possible. It'd also be where he'd install the Magitech Inductor to actually give it the capacity to power the blade rather than just pump mana into it and it not being focused in any particular way. The thought crossed his mind whether or not he'd need some form of Magitech Inductor as well, but the wire as well as the crystalline components of the pieces from Mana Fragments seemed to act like that innately. Fletcher took a long strand of Reinforced Wire from his spool and began winding it around the handle in a coil motion, leaving enough of a gap between each coil for another row of the wire on his way back up the handle. Leaving a long tail of wire off the handle, just underneath the crossguard, he then wrapped the inductor around the top of the handle so it nestled in nice and snug underneath the crossguard. It was like a less elastic hair tie, but felt like a more solid silicon that was just as soft to the touch. So far it looked pretty good, but he was far from done. Next up he had to carfully run the cicuit up the length of the striking edge so that on impact, monsters would get an extra jolt from mana coursing through the blade. Carefully and slowly Fletcher soldered the wire into place with some of his own mana, melting the outside of the wire coating just enough to fuse with the metal of the dagger. That was all he needed, again this was just a prototype to see if the theory worked. Grasping the blade and letting the inductor do most of the work, he let his mana freefall into the weapon and watched as a faint blue outline shimmered around the edge of the blade. Whether or not it would do damage was another thing altogether though. Word Count: 676 Total Word Count: 7208 -AP CLAIMED-

With the dagger a clear success of what he needed to do, Fletcher repeated the same method with the other weapons in his inventory, keeping in mind the slight differences between them and how they needed to be rigged up. For instance, the weapon for Sark was no doubt going to need to have more reinforing given the larger surface area and weight to the weapon; if he didn't and the circuit broke as he was using it, then the young dwarf would just have a large sword without any of the perks of Fletcher making it in the first place. As for the duelling sabre, he had to make sure that the tip was part of the circuit as well so that thrusts also benefitted the same way that cuts did, if Dumah liked this weapon then he'd be free to have that one to replace whatever piece he was already using, poor guy must be in need of a new toy by now, surely.
Fletcher toiled the rest of his time away rigging up the weapons and then testing each one, making sure that the mana was being siphoned only when the switch was allowing it to. He struggled with dragging Sark's weapon around, but given when he held the handle it reacted the same the assumption was that it was just the same as the others; completely fine. He stored them all in his inventory and took down the last few notes he needed so he'd remember the process and components so he could file it away for later use; all that was left was to go out and deliver the items to the appropriate people and go from there.
