Appearance At first glance, you wouldn't be blamed for thinking that Alan was one of the frailer classes. With his just-below-average stature (not helped by his constant slouching) and thin frame, he seems more suited to wielding a bow or a staff. His face, just like his body, is on the thin side. Not enough to make people question his health, but it's still surprising for some to see someone like him tanking attacks. His eyes - brown and deep-set - match his hair in terms of colour, to a degree so close that it's actually a little eerie. The same goes for the fur on his ears, and his tail. While it's rare to see him outside of his armour while in the game, Alan will usually just wear whatever he feels is most fitting for the weather. Short sleeves, long sleeves, tracksuits, hotpants, no pants - any of those mentioned, and everything in between. Colour, however, is a different matter altogether. His wardrobe literally does not extend beyond blues, greens, and darker blues or greens. It's a different matter when it comes to armour, given that it's stats that matter to him more than style, but don't expect him to come up with any fashion advice more useful than "Wear clothes in public." It's difficult to define exactly what sort of expression Alan usually wears. Some would say calm and placid, others airy. Some would just say he has a glazed, gormless expression reminiscent of a lobotomised stoat. Regardless, his neutral expression belies no real happiness or sadness. Or anything at all, for that matter. | Personality Some would say that Alan is a quiet, secretive person. They'd say that he doesn't say much, or that he doesn't ever reveal much about himself. If you asked Alan about this, however, he would just say that nobody bothers to ask. It's not that he's especially awkward around people, or that he hates having conversations. Well, no more than most people, anyway. It's more that he's horrendous at starting conversations. Have someone greet him and make small talk, and everything's sorted. Have him start the conversation, and you'll start wondering if he should see a therapist. Alan is a tank, and he has the mindset for it. He doesn't mind retreating from a battle that can't be won. He doesn't mind regrouping, and he doesn't mind doing something strange if the group's strategist tells him it's part of the plan. But he refuses to back down. When the force of a thousand suns is bearing down upon him, he will plant his feet and push forward until either the enemy drops, or he does. if he's in an argument, he's the kind of person that will defend his views to the last. He's not pigheaded enough to not see reason, but you're going to have to work to make it happen. Alan is a man of simple pleasures. A hearty meal packed with meat, quality booze, a good game supported by a stable internet connection, and a good sleep afterwards are all he needs for the perfect night in. He's not opposed for a night out on the town though. He just prefers the company of friends that won't take a video of him attempting to do the Mackarena while wearing a traffic cone on his head, whilst trapped in at least five layers of bubblewrap. |

Alan didn't have an especially eventful childhood. It was rather remarkable how unremarkable it was, actually. He was born to two parents, neither of which died while he was young. In fact, as far as he knows, they're still alive. He wasn't especially popular, but neither was he especially unpopular. He had friends that came and went, and he just lived his life as he saw fit. Carefree and content with how things were going for him, he couldn't have asked for more. Given how developed his brain was, it was unlikely that he could have imagined that there could be more, but that's beside the point.
About the age of thirteen, Alan started getting pains in his chest. Little pricks or aches, but nothing he felt he had to pay much attention to. He just continued on his way, ignoring it.
The pains in his chest only grew worse as time went on.
By the time he was fourteen, he'd get a sharp pain near his heart every so often. Not enough to take him out of action, but the pain was harsh enough to make him wince. It was only when he was fifteen that things got serious.
A run-of-the-mill PE lesson triggered it. A stabbing pin in his chest that just wouldn't go away, forcing him to curl up on the floor in excruciating pain. The ambulance came quickly enough, and with the assistance of medical professionals, the pain subsided.
In short, there was a problem with his lungs that he'd inherited from his mother. Quite why it had only shown up during those few years, the doctors couldn't say, but apart from that, he was given the normal advice. Eat healthily, get regular - but not stressful - exercise, and avoid unnecessary straining of the heart.
The fact remained, though, that his heart was a weakness. It limited him, restricted him. He could only ever go as far as his heart would allow him. Sure, he could make things easier on himself, but there was no avoiding the fact that his heart was a burden on his hopes and dreams. And it made him sick.
Stubborn as ever, he refused to voice his opinion. Above all, he refused to show that his condition was affecting him. The last thing he wanted was someone's pity. He hated the idea that people thought him an invalid. Alan decided he needed a retreat - somewhere that people wouldn't think of him as someone weak, where people wouldn't handle him like he was some sort of delicate antique that would break if you blew on it.
Alan found Elder Tale.
Inventory
(If your character's subclasses allow another item, such as arrows/bolts/puppets, place them here. Otherwise leave blank.)
EQUIPMENT
Left Arm Starter Great Shield: A starter great shield designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t really feel too sturdy. Its distinctively huge size allows for good protection if somewhat unwieldy. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. | Armor Starter Platemail: A basic set of plate armour made from cheap iron. They are not really too protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it.Pick an available type for your class (Ex: Plate for Guardians, Leather for Assassins, Cloth for Enchanters). If you're a Blacksmith, you can get one tier up as described in its skill list. | Right Arm Starter Spear: A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron and wood. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. If you choose a two-handed weapon, leave the other hand as N/A. If you are a bard you also get your choice of a musical instrument that can be carried on hand (ex: flute, violin, clarinet, etc.), nothing big like a piano. Bow users get a quiver of wooden arrows or wooden bolts (you'll have infinite ammo for now btw since it is too annoying for us to keep track of ammo usage, icly it is a limited amount though; and toss them in your inventory). |

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Guardian
Anchor Howl: A loud soundwave is generated from the Guardian's position, encompassing the surrounding 5 meters in radius. This causes movement speed away from the Guardian to lower the farther away a target is. As a result, some might attempt to make a run for it by either dashing or jumping. These two actions trigger the second part of this skill, which delivers a heavy counter to punish a retreating foe. It effectively serves as a way to maintain the enemy's attention on the Guardian. This skill has an animation time of 3 seconds, maximum duration of 10 seconds, and a cooldown of 30 seconds. If the Guardian moves from their initial position, this skill is canceled.
Shield Smash:The Guardian's signature style is the large of a large shield. By ramming the opponent with this skill, it's essentially ramming the target with an iron wall. Naturally, such an action will pretty much interrupt any skill that an opponent is casting. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds.
Hammer Beat:A skill that raises the shield or two-handed weapon over the Guardian's body, then crashes it down upon the enemy with a loud sound effect. If a monster struck by this attack is lower-leveled than the Guardian, it is almost guaranteed to shift aggro upon the Guardian. However, the Guardian may need to follow up this skill with other aggro-generating skills in order to reliably hold the monster's aggro in an extended fight. This skill has an animation time of 2.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds.

Roleplay Class: Bodyguard
Valour Guard: Passive. A Bodyguard prides themselves on being able to take a blow for their comrade. When the user takes the hit for an attack that originally targeted another character, increase the user's defence by 25% for the duration of that attack. This buff only applies once per attack.
Crafting Class: Blacksmith
Heatsink: Blacksmiths are able to wear chain armor without penalties if they are normally unable to wear chain armor. They are able to wear plate armor without penalties if they are normally able to wear chain armor but not plate armor. Also a toggle skill. Through their skills at working around a forge, blacksmiths have developed a slight tolerance toward heat. They take reduced damage of 10% from fire-based attacks.
