It was a normal day for Blade as he walked the streets of the starting city for the UK server. It had only been about a week since the day he was forcibly transferred to this world yet he had gotten completely used to living in his current situation. There had been so much adventure recently as well that was like the spice of life around here. He began to wonder what to do today. He could go out and gain experience points from leveling up, he could try (and probably fail) improving his relationship with his horse Takeo, or he could try to forge new equipment for himself as he was well aware of the fact that his current sword and armor was honestly quite terrible as it was the cheap starter equipment he’s had since the beginning. As he was pondering to forge the sword and armor, he saw a scene that kept his attention, and in the bad way. He saw 2 higher level adventurers walking up to a blonde fox tail girl and flirting with her/bullying her. Even though there was the guard system in place, there were certain things that wouldn’t send the guards after them and they probably knew that, using certain ways to grab her and other such without triggering the said system. Due to their higher level, their physical capabilities were sure to be much higher than the girl’s which Blade found out to be level 1. This meant it would have made it hard for her, no, near impossible to get out of it. As a man who highly valued honor, he abhorred how these two were acting superior because they were of a higher level and were picking on someone they considered weaker than them. He could hear a few other people around him just taking pity on her. He felt frustrated that people were just giving this girl looks of pity and not making any effort to stop what was happening. If you have time to take pity, don’t just stand there! He thought to himself as he stepped forward towards the girl and her assailants. At this point, one of the bullies had held the girl’s arms behind her back and the other one was about to punch her or do something. Whatever it was, Blade grabbed the arm of the attacking guy, stopping it. “How unmanly, tormenting a girl like that and making her cry. You people have no honor.” He said in a serious tone of voice, berating these people for their actions without showing any sign of fear despite the level difference. “I cannot allow you people to do as you please any longer!” “Hmph, trying to be a hero huh?” The one who had his arm stopped said. “Don’t be so cocky for a level 1!” With that, the man kneed Blade in the stomach hard, almost knocking the air out of him before throwing him to the ground. Just like with the girl, the man used specific actions to make sure the guard system wouldn’t be activated but it still hurt all the same. “What’s with that look on your face?” The man said as he held Blade’s arm around his back, almost to the point of dislocating it, but the look on Blade’s face still held its resolution and he didn’t even seem close to breaking down as he was continually beaten up by the higher level player. “How weak, the bullies that beat me up in the real world packed a bigger punch than that.” Blade said with a small smile, further angering the man. “Shut your trap!” The man exclaimed angrily as he stomped on the Samurai’s back. “I have nothing to fear against a person who can’t do anything more than throw their weight around because of a need to feel superior.” Blade said as struggled to get up but had a hard time in doing so because of the man’s weight. With difficulty, he reached into a side pocket for a whistle and put it to his mouth before blowing into it. All of a sudden, a horse came running through the streets and was coming towards them. Out of surprise, the man loosened his grip and that gave Blade a chance to break free before charging at the man that held the girl’s arms behind her back and tackled him. This man was unable to react in time and was knocked back only slightly due to the little strength Blade possessed but that was enough for the girl to get free. He grabbed the girl’s hand and began running away with her in tow. The horse it seems had left on its own. “Denkkousekka!” Blade exclaimed as he used a skill to increase his speed, using it to weave through the crowd, making it difficult for the two assailants to follow after them. After a period of time, Blade finally found a hiding spot within an abandoned building and now the two were able to catch their breath. “Haa..haa. Well, we got away from them.” Blade said with a smile of relief before looking towards the girl. “Are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?” He asked with a smile as he completely ignored the damage he received which was obviously much more than the girl’s, having some bruises and scrapes on him from being hit so much and slammed into the floor. “My name’s Blade by the way, what’s your name?” Words: 915 Akira

Akira remembered exactly how she had wanted her day to go. It was supposed to be happy and she was supposed to make a friend. Not be bullied and hit by some really creepy jerks. Akira wiped a free hand over her eye and tried to suppress her tears. At the rate it was going she really was gonna cry. Luckily for her the jerks hadn’t tried to touch her at all. She would really lose all hope for Elder Tale’s world if they tried to beat her up considering that it would be no different than how she was treated in the real world. Which in itself was just purely horrible and she’d probably become a recluse again never leaving her room or always hiding alone… Well this time it could be a little different considering she could somewhat fight back due to her class and the fact that she had two red katanas. Tears started to well up in Akira’s bright green eyes before she closed them not wanting to see anything else and also wanting to try to hide her tears. Akira started hearing sounds of fighting and burrowed her eyebrows together before slowly opening one of her green eyes. The following scene surprised her extremely and she let out a small gasp. A white haired and blue eyed guy, whose appearance appeared quite princely, was trying to fight the guys who had been bullying her. Key word would be ‘trying’ he had managed to get the guys away from her but they had started to beat him up. Akira stood there dumbfounded not entirely sure of what she should do. No one had ever bothered to save her before. It was almost as if she had a knight in shining armor that’d she had been waiting for her whole life. Not that she especially believed in fairy tale princes or anything. Just as Akira had that thought the boy, she still didn't know his name, grabbed her hand and pulled her atop his horse. She let out a small yelp. This was even more surprising than someone saving her from bullies. She guessed it just went to show that she never knew how nice it would be to live in Elder Tale..maybe. Although if Akira started to even really think about that she'd be jumping off the horse way too fast. After she and the boy were a bit of ways from where they originally were they stopped and seemed to be close to a café. Akira got down off the horse and smiled brightly at the princely and now beaten up slightly boy before saying, “ Thank you so much! No one’s ever done that for me before…” Her voice trailed off and a lone tear fell from her eye before she continued,” My name is Akira and you were a huge help!!” word count: 478 tags: bladenotes: sorry it took so long

Blade smiled knowing the girl was alright. Although he would have preferred to come out of that little skirmish they just got out from unscathed, he didn’t really care as long as the person he was protecting was fine themselves. The girl thanked him with much enthusiasm and before she could stop herself, she said that nobody had done that for her before. Her voice trailed off as she said that last part and it seemed that she was even starting to cry, worrying the samurai. He took out a simple handkerchief he had on hand and held it out for the girl to use. “I guess you’ve gone through your own rough times huh? Well, I won’t forcibly pry into it as that’d be rude and insensitive. But if you ever need somebody to talk to or a shoulder to cry on or anything, just know I’m here. Back in the real world when I was bullied or when I felt discouraged, my little sister was there for me and it helped a lot.” He said this with a kind smile. Probably because he was bullied himself, but he could just tell that this girl was also one who was bullied in the past. However, he didn’t want to ask about it unless she was comfortable with it. A bit after that, she had introduced herself as Akira and then said that he had helped her a lot. “I don’t think I was able to do that much.” He said humbly. “I actually wish I could have done that better. I must have looked uncool right? Trying to stop them and then just getting beat up one-sidedly instead.” He said this with a slightly bitter yet joking smile as he thought about how weak he was right now. “Akira huh? It means bright and/or clear in Japanese. It’s a good name. It’s nice to meet you Akira. My name is Blade but if you want, you can call me Tatsuya. I go by both names.” He said with a friendly smile as he stuck out his hand for a hand shake. “By the way, would you happen to be Japanese? I apologize if I’m wrong but your username was Japanese so I had that thought in mind.” Words: 378 AkiraOOC: Now it's my turn to apologize for taking so long.

Akira smiled brightly as she listened to the white haired prince like boy talk. He was really nice and she loved it. No one was ever that nice to her. Let alone someone that was almost like her very own knight in shining armor. Akira blushed slightly at the thought. The boy was kinda pretty too. His white hair and bright blue eyes would probably get him to a lot of places down the road. It occurred to Akira that she hadn’t asked the boy his name and she looked down at the ground, er rather her shoes trying to decide if she should or shouldn’t. Akira thought for bit when she realized that he had already told her that his name was Blade. Akira frowned and quickly looked up at Blade and used her bright green eyes to stare straight into his blue eyes. She quietly mumbled, ” I don’t think you did that bad… You were like my own knight in shining armor….” Akira turned away right after she said that and listened to Blade continue to talk. She smiled a little to herself before slapping her thigh a little and thinking to herself. Dammit get your crap together Akira! You’ll never find a way to get your new personality to work if you suddenly get shy! “ Wait what??” she said surprisingly loudly and turned quickly back towards Blade. “ Uh.. sorry about that. I didn’t know that Akira meant that in japanese. I merely chose the name because I happened to like it. My dad is actually japanese though, it’s just that he never taught me any… We didn’t exactly have any major father-daughter moments before I moved away to college…” Her voice trailed off at the end before she looked into Blade’s blue eyes again. They were almost captivated. Her eyes sparkled at just looking at them. They were beautiful. Akira frowned and closed her eyes. Her thoughts shouldn’t be going there. Akira opened them quick enough again so that it hopefully just seemed like a blink. “ Well you really saved me back there Blade. I don’t know what would’ve happened if it weren’t for you coming in to save the day. Even they ended up beating you somewhat in the end it just makes you more endearing and a hero that people can relate to.” Akira flashed a bright and extremely toothy smile and started wagging her tail a bit like a dog. She was starting to feel confidence surge up in her again. She should definitely keep Blade the prince boy around as a friend. He’d be a really good uhm.. friend? Yeah friend sounded about right. Akira’s smile got even bigger when a thought popped into her head. A nickname for the prince boy Blade. “ Is it okay if I call you Zen? I think it’d be a perfect nickname for you!”

Let alone a pretty boy talk to her so.. ahahaha. Also please tell me you like the nickname.. I kept typing Zen where Blade was supposed to be and it's kinda me being lazy but I just can't associate your name with's Zen's face for some reason omg u.u

The girl in front of him appeared to be shy about the situation that they were in as she looked down at her feet. All of a sudden, she tilted her head up and looked Blade straight in the eyes, something that made him feel slightly embarrassed although he made no motion to avert his line of sight as he thought that’d be rude to do to someone he just met. She then consoled him quietly, speaking at a volume that was barely audible, saying that he didn’t do so bad and that he was like her knight in shining armor. This made him feel a bit more embarrassed, this time out of happiness. Although he normally threw himself in the line of danger to protect others back in the real world, it was very rare for him to be thanked as usually, the person he was protecting ran off on their own, leaving him to get hurt. He couldn’t help but smile at what she said. “A knight in shining armor huh? I’m one unorthodox knight in shining armor then as my armor isn’t exactly shiny and I’m more of a Japanese Samurai than a European Knight. If I’m the knight in shining armor, I guess that would make you the princess I’m protecting.” He said with a slight teasing tone. She then mentioned stuff about her father and how it appeared she wasn’t able to be close to him before she went off to college. She seemed a bit depressed by it too. “I never really had that much time to spend with my dad either. It was because he was always traveling on business trips or working abroad.” He said with a slightly bitter smile. He didn’t hate his father. In fact, on the rare occasions he was able to come home, he and his little sister welcomed him with open arms. It’s just that he wished his father had been around more. He then decided to change the subject. “Anyway, does that mean you’re half Japanese? I may not look like it from my skin tone and eye color but I’m a full Japanese. I actually came here to the UK from Japan for college. Ah, and it seems we’re about the same age as we’re both college students.” Akira then looked into Blade’s eyes again. Is it normal for Europeans to stare into other people’s eyes so deeply for such long periods of time? Blade thought to himself in embarrassment. Akira then frowned and closed her eyes, yet another action that puzzled him. Did I say or do anything wrong to cause her displeasure? Blade thought to himself with a bit of worry this time but this worry was ceased when she opened her eyes and smiled at him. She further comforted him about the earlier event and said that if he didn’t step in to save her, or at least attempt to, she didn’t know what would happen and she even mentioned that getting beaten up would make him a more likable and easy to relate to hero. Akira gave him such a bright smile and wagged her tail happily as she said this. “I thank you for these kind words. However, I’m not aiming to become a hero that is loved by all. All I want is to be able to protect those around me.” He said with a small smile. A bit after that, Akira all of a sudden burst out a random suggestion for a nickname that she would call him by. She wanted to call him Zen. Blade pondered on why she wanted to call him that. However, he couldn’t think of it at all. It had nothing to do with his name, both real name and in-game name, and he didn’t really say anything related to the name either. At this point, Blade just decided to give up understanding it and conceded. “Sure, go ahead. You can call me Zen although I have no idea how you came up with that name.” He then thought for a moment. “Mind if I call you by a nickname as well? I’ll call you Hime. Hime means Princess in Japanese. As I mentioned earlier, every knight in shining armor needs a princess to protect. I guess you’d be the one.” He said with a slight teasing tone. Words: 725 AkiraOOC: Welcome back although I guess it'd be for a short time. And it looks like you can start calling him Zen now. lol

Akira watched Zen silently as he spoke and responded to her questions and replies to his earlier spoken words. She could easily tell that he’d be an extremely good friend to have. Akira smiled and looked straight into Zen’s eyes before looking away after a few seconds and saying something. “ That’s very noble of you. Wanting to protect your friends and those around you. I can see clearly that you really aren’t a hero, more like a noble prince. Your looks help the whole prince image too!” Akira smiled brightly and winked with her last sentence being in a somewhat joking tone. Akira spun around in a quick little spin and let her long blonde hair, big red bow included, kind of making a flying circle around her quickly before saying something else to Zen. “ You’re my first friend here! You are my friend right? Let’s be the bestest friends ever!” she said hopping around excitedly in circles around Zen with a smile that shone like the stars at night and it also covered her whole face with her bright green eyes sparkling beautifully with excitement and happiness while matching her expression. She stayed silent for a few minutes or rather right up until Zen said that her nickname would be hime, or essentially princess. Her lips curved into a somewhat playful smile and somewhat smirk. “ If you called me princess in straight up english instead of Hime I’d probably be insulted because calling anyone princess just kinda sounds sarcastic and antagonizing. Though if anyone could get away with it it’s probably you that could.” Akira finished her sentence by grinning like a cat which was possibly a little funny considering she was a fox. Akira looked straight at Zen and smiled normally stopping her cat smile all together. “ I guess since you told me your reasoning I should probably tell my reasoning for your nickname Zen! I chose it because looking at you and being around you makes me feel calm. But I can’t really just call you calm now can I? Then it just popped into my head. Zen! The word doesn’t exactly mean calm, it’s more along the lines of spiritual enlightenment but to me when I’m calm I am spiritual so I figure it works pretty well. Plus Zen sounds close enough to a name not to be weird as someone’s name.” After she finished speaking Akira looked around trying to find an inn or a bench to sit on. She spotted one rather quickly and wanting to make a beeline for it she grabbed Zen’s hand and started pulling him along. “ Come on! Let’s go sit down on that bench, my legs are getting tired from standing,” she said while point at the bench with her free hand. “In some ways, I feel a prince is even more far off from who I am.” Blade said to himself somewhat quietly before responding to her comment about his appearance. “I guess I’ll take that as a compliment then as this is my actual appearance for the most part. I would have my college roommate to thank for that I guess. Originally, I wanted to make my appearance similar to that of the warlord Oda Nobunaga but at the last minute he changed it so that it looked exactly like my real self except with different hair and eye color. Well, it’s convenient as I didn’t have to get used to moving around in a differently structured body. I’ve never thought of my appearance to look princely though nor has anybody here or back in the real world have said that. You’re the first person to have said that.”Akira then spun around for some random reason before speaking to him again. She looked quite excited about saying that he was her first friend here and was actually hopping circles around Blade while showing a dazzling smile that showed her happiness. “Sure, I’ll be your friend. Here’s hoping that we’ll get along in the times to come.” Blade said with a kind smile. Although he wasn’t as enthusiastic as his new friend here, he was quite happy about making friends. He had some trouble doing that in the real world due to certain reasons. Once he got into high school, it got easier and more people talked to him but there wasn’t many people he could really call a friend. “I may not be as enthusiastic as you but believe me when I say that I’m actually happy about this.”Akira then told Blade her reasoning for calling him Zen as he told his reasons for calling her Hime, a nickname she seems to have liked. Blade wasn’t completely sure because she only smirked and said that if he called her Princess in English, she probably would have felt insulted. But she didn’t seem to find displeasure in the Japanese word. Anyway, the way Akira explained her reasons for calling him that went by in a blur as she was speaking a bit fast. He was able to catch the part about the term Zen meaning enlightenment or something. “I see, that’s an interesting way to think of a name.” Blade said in response. All of a sudden, Akira grabbed his hand and pulled him towards a bench, the young woman wanting to sit down after standing for so long. Blade didn’t feel tired at all from standing and in fact, the bodies of adventurers in this world should be stronger than their real bodies so they shouldn’t have felt tired just from standing for a few minutes but Blade didn’t want to argue. She has a firm grip. Blade noted to himself as her hold on his hand was rather tight. They soon reached the bench and sat down together. “Is there anything you want to do once we’ve rested a bit? I was thinking we could get some lunch and then head out into the fields or something.” He suggested with a smile.

Akira listened to Zen as she rested on the bench and started swinging her legs. A few minutes passed by before she spoke in return to Zen’s words. “ Why do you think a prince would be far off from what you actually are? It’s not just your appearance you know, though I am glad that your friend made you change your appearance because it’s really pretty. I could just stare at you all day…” Her voice trailed off a little bit before she shook her head and started speaking again. “ Please forget that last part. Pretend you didn’t hear it.. I’m glad that I was the first person to tell you that you look princely. But again it’s not just your looks, I think you carry yourself much like a prince would and also what I know of your personality suggests that you have a lot of the personality traits. Not like a real prince though, I’m talking those fairy tale princes man. “ With that Akira stopped talking and looked around at the area that the bench they were sitting on was in. She could easily see the adventurers and people of land running about their business doing whatever it was they needed to do. Akira continued to people watch for a few minutes and then looked at Zen before speaking, ” I’m glad that you’re happy with being my friend,” she paused to smile before speaking again, ” I think that’s a good idea, let’s get some grub and then let’s just explore the city and the land around the village!” It was at that moment that Akira realized that she was still holding onto Zen’s wrist and she quickly released it and sat it in her lap. “ U..um I’m so sorry about that. I didn’t realize I was still doing it…” She looked away as her voice trailed off. The girl then asked why he thought a prince would be a far off description of him. Akira seemed to be insistent on the idea that he was like a prince. She started saying how she didn’t get that feeling from Blade’s appearance alone although she did admit that she really liked his appearance and could stare at him all day….. That last sentence created an awkward silence due to the contents of the last sentence she said. Blade slightly blushed in embarrassment as he still wasn’t used to being thought of as good looking or anything along with the fact that she said that she was okay with staring at him all day. Normal people don’t usually say that out loud. It seemed that Akira noticed her mistake and promptly asked him to forget it with an embarrassed expression on her face as well. She then continued on to say what she most likely planned to say earlier and told him it was because his personality that he felt like a prince from a fairy tale in her eyes. To this, Blade just smiled. “Not only are you the first one to say that I looked like a prince, you’re also the first to say I have the personality of one. I was always thought of as such like the Samurai Idiot or the Punching Bag up until the end of middle school and even in high school where the insults stopped, I remember some people said that I was like a modern day samurai so that’s why I never thought of being like a prince at all.” He responded to Akira’s question. They soon shared a moment of silence, this one not as awkward as the last time, and looked around the area seeing what others were doing. After a while, she agreed with his suggestion of getting lunch and then exploring the town. It was then Akira noticed that she was still holding his hand/wrist and she quickly let go, probably out of embarrassment, and it landed on her lap. She then apologized for having held it for so long as she didn’t realized she was still holding his wrist/hand. “There’s no need to apologize, you didn’t do anything wrong as far as I’m concerned. To be honest, I didn’t really notice either.” He said, giving the girl a gentle smile. It was then he noticed where his hand was, on Akira’s lap. With a slightly embarrassed look on his face, he quickly pulled it back. “My apologies, I didn’t mean to have my hand there.” He said in apology. After a bit, he then got up off the bench and turned to face Akira. “I know of a good Japanese restaurant we can go to if you’d like. The food’s pretty good.” He suggested. After they had decided on where to go, Blade got into a pose as he imitated a knight escorting a lady. “Now then, shall we go Hime?” He had a bit of a joking smile along with his impersonation as he offered his hand. Akira listened to Zen answer her questions and share his own thoughts intentively until he finished. She opened her mouth to say something but quickly shut it and started giggling when she saw Zen’s reaction to his hand accidently dropping into her lap. She continued giggling when Zen got into a knight pose onto his knees. The scene was almost something straight out of a fantasy manga or something. Akira stopped giggling after a bit and got up off the bench. She blushed a small bit when he called her hime. Akira smiled at him brightly. “That sounds lovely. I haven’t had any japanese food in a very long time. And also I’m gonna have to reuse your words for a second. You don’t need to apologize at all.” She paused to let out a small chuckle before continuing, ”If anything I probably should’ve realized where our hands were when I let go of yours. I really don’t mind at all though. It could’ve happened to almost anyone. It’s not like either of us noticed anyway.” Akira smiled brightly at Zen before grabbing his arm and helping him so that he was in a standing position. Once she could see that Zen was standing she let go of his arm. “ I’m also very glad to know that I’m the first one to think of you in any princely light at all. It makes me happy when I’m first at something since it doesn’t usually happen to me.” Akira stopped talking and frowned before starting to say more. “ I’m a little disappointed that you were insulted and called those kinds of things until high school. I’m betting you’re lying a bit about them stopping in high school though. They probably went on and I’m really sorry you had to go through that. Though it does bring up one question. How old are you anyway Zen? Did you graduate high school or college yet?” Akira smiled. “ As for me I was in my first year of college before I got stuck in this game. I am promptly and proudly nineteen years old.” Akira winked before saying in her confident attitude ,” I’ll let you in a secret.
