Londinium was rather lively considering it was the middle of the day. During the two years that Saiph stayed in the city, he picked up on the patterns of the adventurers who, well, adventured while Saiph built a network of various adventurers and Landers. He kept up-to-date on everything that was happening… especially happenings within Londinium. The arrival of an order of Sages was, however, was something that he hadn’t anticipated.
When the sages first arrived, Saiph had kept his distance at first, sticking to observing, listening to other people’s tales and experiences. He had heard a plethora of information, some good and some bad. His most recent information, though, was rather intriguing. That day more sages were coming to join the group that was currently in Londinium. It wasn’t hard to figure out that that was the reason the city was lively. People were more interested in what was going on than hunting and leveling.
Saiph, too, was under that category. He was going to get some first-hand information by checking out the sages personally. First, however, he had a meeting to keep. There was a small adventurer-run café that Saiph had heard and seen in passing that would serve as the meeting place. As he walked in, he was greeted by a polite barista who asked what he wanted. He ordered a black coffee, looking around once the barista left him. Off in a corner booth, Saiph saw who he wanted to meet.
“You certainly take your time,” the girl waiting in the booth said. Her brown eyes glanced up from notebook she was reading from, “I’d say invest in a watch, but you have a clock on your interface you could use just as easily.”
Saiph laughed slightly as he took his seat, “Good to see you as well, Sayha.” He leaned back an eyed the half-full glass of yellow slush, “Do you need a refill on your lemonade?”
“Not today,” the purple haired girl said, “What was it that you wanted to ask me?”
Just then, the barista came over to the booth with Saiph’s coffee. He opened his window and paid the barista for the coffee plus a nice tip. She thanked him and returned to front counter where there were a few other customers, and Saiph turned his attention back to Sayha.
“I want to know what you know about the Messier Sages,” Saiph responded.
Sayha studied Saiph, taking a sip of her drink, “And then I make a mark in my ledger that you owe me?”
“Sounds fair to me,” Saiph nodded… then he noticed a gray fur ball in Sayha’s lap. “What is… that?”
Sayha smiled slightly, putting down her notebook, “This is Chifi or at least that is what I call him.” On her lap was a miniature… wolf? Or at least something that was part wolf.
“I didn’t think you had the time to tame your friend yet.”
“Who said anything about taming? Besides, it’s another topic for another day,” Sayha waved her hand dismissively, “The Messier Sages. They’re an old order from what I can tell. They’ve been around for quite a while, and you’ll find out on your own how long they’ve been around. If you plan on helping them, keep your guard up.” She then took a sip of her drink.
Saiph took a drink of his drink as well, letting the warmth of the coffee fill him. After he took a drink, he set the coffee mug back down, “That’s rather cryptic. Can you give me any details or specifics?”
“I could, but it would be better for you to find out on your own,” Sayha explained, “Though when you need help, feel free to call me.”
“In return for?”
“We’ll figure that out later,” Sayha said as she finished drinking her glass of lemonade. The little wolf pup jumped down off of her lap and onto the ground. “Oh and before I forget,” Sayha stood and did some motions on her interface and on the table, a white gun appeared on the café table. “It’s a gift. I know you use rifles and you need a better one than you have so have fun. Don’t shoot your eye out.”
“Do I even want to know how you got this?” Saiph said, carefully picking up the rifle. It had a long barrel and felt like many sniper rifles he had used in the past. It was definitely less clumsy that the rifle he had.
“That’s a story for another time,” Sayha nodded, placing a folded piece of paper onto the table, “The same time that you tell me why you don’t bother using an appearance changing potion to change to your birth gender.”
“So, never?” Saiph smirked jokingly.
Sayha scoffed lightly, rolling her eyes. She said nothing more as she headed to the door of the café with the pat of paws following her.
