Appearance Bumly appears tanned, with very straight sandy brown hair that seems to always be just a little messed up. He is very thin, but average height at just under 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. He has very dark, piercing blue eyes. His cheeks always appear a little dirty but that's just their natural color. There's a small scar on his cheek that he received right after the Apocalypse from a briar weasel that for some reason never healed. He has a lazy half-smile that seems to be permanently stuck on his face. He has a small gap in his two front teeth which he is a little embarrassed of, so he tries to smile without showing his teeth. Bumly always looks sleepy with his messy hair and zoned-out expression. | Personality Bumly tries to be nice. He wants to make others happy and make sure that no one is being left out. He always tries to be polite, even to those he dislikes. He mostly likes being around people but values his time alone. As a Bard, he's learned to be great at first impressions, although he seems to lose energy quickly while socializing with all but his closest friends. Bumly generally seems very absent minded and oblivious, but seems to have moments of extremely acute awareness and perception of his surroundings and companions. He likes to pick out things others haven't noticed. Many describe Bumly as lazy, although he describes himself as thoughtful. He likes to think things through before acting, and prefers whatever option involves the least amount of work. Bumly would also describe himself as philosophical. Being seemingly trapped in another reality that resembled a video game gave him afternoon after afternoon to contemplate what reality and perception were in relation to each other and what being alive really was compared to being programmed. He thoroughly enjoyed every contradiction or unanswerable question he thought of. Bumly works best in small groups, generally not liking too much attention. He thought nothing of choosing bard as a class in the game, but now that it's real, he has to confront his stage fright. Bumly is forgiving, since he feels he is just as faulted as everyone else is. He sometimes lies just to avoid long conversations he thinks won't go anywhere, but tries his best never to lie when he believes it matters. He's competitive in a very friendly way, simply enjoying the fun of competition and not really being in it to win it. Bumly values creativity and free thinking and has trouble with rules he doesn't understand the point of. He'll be the first to question an order. |

Biography
Ben Bowers was smart but lazy. At least, so he was told. He always felt there was some disconnect though. Can a smart person really forget so many things and still be smart? Everywhere Ben went he seemed to leave pieces of himself. He'd leave a bag in a restaurant, a paper in a previous class, and his glasses on the bus. Why did he even take his glasses off in the first place? He forgot his homework. He forgot to go to class. He forgot to set and alarm and wake up.
Ben had friends, but they always seemed like fuzzy memories when they weren't around. They just seemed to blend together into a kind of friend stew in his brain. Names, faces, addresses, phone numbers all seemed to just pile on top of each other and scramble inside his head. He had a big family, 3 sisters and a brother, who kept him busy with him being the oldest. He sometimes felt strange and separate from them all though. He figured everyone felt like that from time to time and just didn't say it, but he couldn't help thinking his rather quiet and reserved nature didn't fit the chaos his large family brought.
Elder Tale was an escape from the blurriness of real life for Ben. It was a place where everything had a pattern he could pick right out, where questions of life and what it held and what he was going to do could be put on hold; where his brain could be simultaneously stimulated and turned off. He had played games before, but they were mostly single player. MMOs were new territory he was excited to try out. He had a cousin in Canada who played Elder Tale and had suggested it to him as a good way to get into the genre. Ben hopes he didn't log in for the update.

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Bard
Heal: The most fundamental HP recovery magic of the healer classes and the root of all restorative skills. Although it grants HP restoration, it is known for its poor mana efficiency compared to other healing skills, barrier skills and reactive activation skills, thus putting this on low priority amongst healing skills. Beginners often look at healers based on how much HP this skill heals, causing some to be called second-rate or third-rate healers. That said, truly useless healers are out of the question, since most are at least competent in using restorative magic. When this skill is used, the caster is surrounded by a hazy warm light, and the chosen target is showered down with particles of light. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and no cooldown. If used by a non-healer class, the cooldown is 5 seconds.
Meditation Nocturne: Untempoed Sustained Song skill. Cancels the effect of any other Sustained Song skills used by the Bard. A relaxing melody that gradually regenerates MP for all nearby party members (except the Bard) as it is maintained. This restoration is moreso apparent outside of battle, but it might come of practical use in the middle of a grueling raid. When in effect, the surface of a targeted character's skin appears to glow with a light blue tint. This skill has a startup casting time of 2 seconds and an indefinite duration so long as the Bard's MP is maintained. While active, this skill reduces the user's DPS by 10% and drains their MP gradually as it is active. This skill has a cooldown time of 2 seconds after it is canceled at any time.
Battle Tempo's effects are suspended while this skill is active.

Sonic Cutter: Allegro skill. The Bard amplifies sound waves to deliver a concentrated burst of destructive interference at a target. A cutting-wave projectile is shot forward, reaching up to 10 meters before dissipating. This skill is considered a wind-type attack and deals greater damage when used in close range. Additionally, if Resonance Beat was used immediately prior to this skill, its range increases by an additional 5 meters. Due to its low cooldown and moderate DPS capacity, it is a popular skill used by the rare solo Bard. This skill has a casting time of 1 second and triggers a global cooldown during its casting, where no other skills can be used.
Battle Tempo effect: If Sonic Cutter is used to enter Presto, the next Sonic Hammer skill has an instant cast time.

Roleplay Class: Apothecary
Concoction: Using their knowledge of herbs and natural remedies, the apothecary is able to treat others. The load time for this skill is ten seconds, and the target's HP is restored by 10%. Any physical status effects will also be cured. Due to a risk of possible toxicity effects, Concoction cannot be used on the same target more than once per thread.
Crafting Class: Scribe
Transcription: Scribes are known for their ability to copy and examine documents carefully. This allows them to obtain the Adventurer skill [Mythic Script] as a Beginner-level skill without it taking up a skill slot. Their knowledge also allows them to use and read grimoires in the Ancient Text, allowing them to use grimoires without penalties and perform some basic magic attacks depending on their Magic stat. If the character can already use grimoires through racial or class bonuses, grimoire damage increases by 10%.
