Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) The sun burned brightly overhead, its brilliant light shone from the clear blue sky and kissed the rolling plains and treacherous mountains of the lands around Londenium. A small figure walked wordlessly in the main road from the city, past Windsor Greatwood, and through the Northern Marshlands of Thames. A few small birds flew above the woods as the samurai noted the slow transition from forest to marshlands, with the swamps right before her soon enough. She was given a simple quest by one of the landers in the city: test the waters from a small spring in the marshlands. Caerbannog scratched her head as she stood close to the road. The lander gave some obscure directions, but she thought that she could figure them out. The quest as listed: A fallen tree, the largest one, shaped like a slumbering dragon. Beneath its belly there lay a spring of clear water, a rarity in the Marshlands of Thames. A cure for disease or a source of disdain? It wasn’t that difficult to figure out. She had to find a large fallen three that looked something like a dragon. Perhaps more a snake, or something similar would do. Landers tend to exaggerate after all. Regardless, the quest had been undertaken and so the girl cautiously walked into the Marshlands, taking first a small, obvious path to stay out of the way of most harmful beasts. She toggled her pet slot and took out Hrairoo, and then she also pulled out her Critter Bag from the inventory. Unlike during her crafting sessions, the bag was empty. “ In here, keep watch, “ Caerbannog put the little rabbit into the Critter Bag, a rabbit within a rabbit, so that it would be out of harm’s way... mostly. The girl put the bag in front of her thighs, but the rabbit could peak from the sides to check what was going on behind its tamer. If anything went wrong, the bag with the rabbit within it could be easily stored away. Slow, steady steps- she walked into the Marshlands, keeping an eye out for the ‘dragon’. Loki woke up in a daze, his eyes looking around with such glimmer as curious as he was he stayed in a curious manner as he watched around. Indeed, this land got stranger by the moment, and Loki kept his mental image together, curious of a manner Loki had explored all he can of the areas around him. It was just the way he was while here in the realm of the game. A game he thought was going to be just easier than anything he experienced before in his life until finding out how terribly wrong he was. That was the turning point for him though, as he made a subtle mental checkup on everything that was around him. The swamp itself full of little critters that were meant to be utilized more so as ingredients than anything else while he himself was in the center of the groupings, fairly certain that he himself knew enough of the area so to make good well on the effects that he had on the surroundings around himself.
Loki dressed himself back into the butler outfit, on top of that was the black trench coat that would act as his cloth armor, of course added to all of this was the bow he had and along his hip was the quiver. Indeed all of this made good well for his weaponry and armor while having his own self-moving around on daily action. He walked through the forest, bow in hand and a single arrow notched and ready in case there was a surprise attack of any kind, granted why he did this was so that he could ideally get whatever food necessity he needed with little effort. Ingredients held taste while food did not but he at least did not have to prepare ingredients to eat them at most times and with such being the case, most of them were filling. He however heard something, someone walking while his eyes peered around, wondering just what that was or rather who it was when his eyes befell and looked directly at a walking armor set. “Hello there.” He called out twenty feet to the left, walking out from behind some brush.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) A little way into the swamp, the sun’s light began to hide behind the overgrown trees and their branches which reached up to the sky. Where sunlight was intercepted, shadows fell and Hrairoo liked neither the sound, sight nor scent of the place. But within the Critter Bag, he felt rather safe; well, safer than he would have felt if he was perched atop the samurai’s head. Just the thought of being out in the open in such a place sent shivers to the little one’s body. Caerbannog could feel the little one fidget within the bag while its head peaked out of the opening. For a while, the fidgeting seemed normal; something that any living creature would do.
Suddenly, Hrairoo ducked into the bag and stayed inside it. The creature must have sensed or heard something close to them, something more intimidating than the Grimy Swamp Snails which they encountered early on. The samurai stopped walking and instead she looked around her. Nothing out of place so far. That is, until a silver-haired foxtail appeared from behind some of the marshlands’ vegetation. While a foxtail adventurer was not an odd sight, his clothing seemed out of place, his look being more of a butler rather than an adventuring class. At least that one greeted the samurai with actual words rather than just a wave or a gesture, something that she returned in kind.
“ Hello... “ Caerbannog replied to his greeting, and immediately followed it with a query, “ You questing? “
From within her bag, the frenmic rabbit poked its head out to see who or what appeared close by. Hrairoo twitched its nose and stared at the silver-haired fox. It was not particularly alarmed, just alert.

Loki analyzed this samurai, fairly certain that he was definitely experienced enough when picking up her words. He looked to her though, rubbing the back of his head with a casual glance as she timidly shrugged in due kind, “Well you could say I am questing. I have had the same quest for the past five days and cannot make heads or tails out of it. Something about a dragon tree here in the marsh. I’ve forgotten most of it but supposedly there is some treasure around and I am merely hoping to get some quested items.” If there were any left, that is. It has been quite some time since he last had any kind of quest item, and this was just the first part of his lessons to learn. The last time he held any kind of questing item was back on the American server before trying out this British one. It was devilish to try anything of the sort here yet he still thought he could make due and manage the system much the same as the American one.
Sad to say the two systems were highly different, hence him being in the system now instead of just manipulating it on the outside. “I’ve checked just about the whole south to west side of the swamp lands in about a fifteen kilometer radius. How about you though miss, did you receive a similar quest?” He asked kindly, keeping most of his usual trickster sides inside until he figured out how much difference was between himself and her. Granted, given the possibility for enemies he already began prepping his mana, feeling it curdle inside him and simmer like a boiling pot of oil. Curious how the two were so similar yet so very different all at once, but he paid it little mind as this was just one step on the journey while waiting for the girl’s response to his question. Whether or not she would give him any details that may aid him, and if she were on the same quest, and her on this quest given to them by the lander outside the swampy marshes.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Acknowledging the foxtail’s willingness to share his reason for being in the Marshlands, the samurai nodded at him as he spoke. She looked at him too, never looking away, for two reasons. The first being, she did not want to seem impolite by looking at something else while he was speaking. The second reason was that, despite being a foxtail like her acquaintance Bunji, the difference in their fur color made it a trait that stood out. Caerbannog’s thoughts momentarily wandered to the topic of Elder Tale’s customization, and she wondered if there were purple or pink foxtails.
“ Dragon! “ the girl suddenly spoke up as it was mentioned.
She nodded again as the foxtail mentioned his search for the marker. South to west; fifteen kilometers.
“ Spring water from dragon, “ the samurai concisely spoke about her quest, “ Go east now? “
Whether they were after the same things or not, she was unsure. The foxtail could have been given a different list of quest objectives altogether, while she only had ‘Test Spring Water 0/1’ and ‘Bring Spring Water to Londenium 0/1’. Either way, if they were looking for the same marker, then it would be wise to party up. The samurai brought her interface to the foreground and sent a party request to the foxtail. Being in a party meant that they could not hurt each other, or at least that was how it worked in most MMOs. There were certain skills that could also be used party-wide, such as barriers and party healing. The samurai had one such skill, a high-chain barrier which could be used for a party to temporarily protect from incoming damage.
“ Easier to quest, “ was her reason for the party request. Its acceptance would also reveal the players’ names to each other.
The girl then headed the way east, keeping in mind that south and west had already been checked. If the unexplored directions did not contain the marker, only then would she sweep west and south again. Caerbannog kept her nagamaki in its sheath, intending to draw it and deal extra damage with Iaido in case of a sudden attack. She’d walk with a steady pace close to the foxtail; if he allowed, perhaps just a step or two in front of him. The swamp was a dangerous place; she’d experienced it before during the pokemon hunt with Oxford. More than strong beasts or high-level creatures, the swamp’s inhabitants had specialized skills. One such skill, more like a natural tendency or capability, was to find magic users amidst many figures. Two Level 2 Animated Sludges slowly made their way to what seemed to be a beacon for them, the foxtail enchanter. Obscured from view by low vegetation, they could be seen soon enough as they would emerge behind their destination.

Loki had no reason to hide any of his information, and he soon found that the choice was right in the end for how things were going. For now, Loki allowed his eyes to remain steady with keen intensity when looking at the samurai, in and of itself still posing to wonder about this. He almost jumped when he heard the girl speak up once more, and here he thought she was more silent type than most. Granted this just went to show that he did not understand women very easily but also the fact that she spoke short and crisp also meant that she was like the fifteenth president, Lincoln, which Loki learned in the real world school, being a man of little words, but great importance. Of course, in this sense, it was a girl instead of a man, but the same concept still applied in a general consensus and meaning. Such was the manner to which he favored in analyzing things as she spoke of the objectives of a very similar quest. His objectives after all were not very easily understood for his lack of knowledge in this system sadly.
He took all the words she had spoken, formulating them together with some reasoning skills that he was applicably able to utilize. It was nothing really out of the ordinary for himself, but it was quite unusual for a girl to be so little on words from those he has encountered up to this point. He tapped his chin lightly, thinking and pondering on it as he looked at his display once opening it to see a new message, which happened to be the party invite. He pressed agree and once doing that he felt his heart sink once looking back at her. She was way ahead of him in all senses, his HP could be destroyed just by one swipe of her sword with probably three times overkill. Not to mention with a level like that, his magic was useless against her if he even decided to try that for a brief moment. Luckily he was smart enough not to. For now, he did walk behind her, watching the area around him for disturbances or anything that may or may not come from the likely hood of them.
There in, while following behind her he began to wonder about something, his tail swigging side to side while his ears twitched. “What kind of monsters would be expected?” His question was good at least to ask in his opinion while he did look around with a continual glance in all directions. His mana channeling did come into effect at least when he needed it to. That would be the grace of the situation, as he looked out to the side enough to see to blobs coming from the vegetation seven feet from them. Slimes, his mind reacting in a decent pace of thought process, were negligible to having much intellect there by the wisdom stat should be relatively lower from any other monster. Logically anyways so he did utilize his sleep spell immediately, attempting to put the two slimes to sleep while jumping back calling out, “Slimes on three O’clock,” before notching arrow by arrow with one each readied and shot directly at the focal point of each head. His physical strength was weak to begin with so if the arrows did hit, both would only lose a third of their life.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) The party request was accepted quickly enough before the samurai set forth farther into the marshlands. She noted the foxtail’s name, his level and class. Was he completely new to the game as she had been when she started playing Elder Tale? The foxtail race went well with his chosen class though, meaning that the adventurer had been considerate of his character’s creation. His appearance did not betray his level or class however, for the foxtail named Loki looked something like a hunter.
And indeed, he did act like one too, for when mobs headed their way, the foxtail was the first to react to the creatures. The samurai would have stayed his hand, knowing that slimes and other similar things were merely attract to magic users like him, but he already incurred their Hate with his attacks. Seeing no other option but to engage the creatures, and not really apprehensive of it either, Caerbannog dashed off to intercept the Animated Sludges. Her wolf hair features appeared, both ears and tail, and the golden eyes. Though her expression remained the same, nothing like her friend whose face changed completely when his wolf hair traits appeared.
As for the encounter before her, there was no need for Denkosekka since the creatures were low leveled and not exceptionally aggressive. The samurai merely dashed over to a sludge beast using her base speed, and struck it down as she unsheathed her sword, triggering [Iaido]. The animated sludge was reduced to a display of data crystals which disappeared soon enough. With the sword drawn, she thrust it into the remaining sludge, thereby destroying that threat as well. After the short fight, Caerbannog sheathed her weapon again and also inspected her rabbit Hrairoo. The creature seemed to be well and had taken to hiding in the satchel during such encounters. The samurai returned to the path which they were taking, but not before she asked the foxtail something about the felled beasts.
“ Did you know? “ the girl then pointed to the remnants of the sludge which slowly disappeared, “ Attracted to magic? What else you know? “
The girl’s black ears twitched and pointed towards Loki’s direction, implying that she waited for his answer. It was not a reprimand, and her tone was nothing like that to be sure, but more an inquiry as to how much he knew about the marshlands. Caerbannog herself knew little about the dangers farther ahead, there could even be an unknown beast right around the bend. But for a quest that would take them deep into unknown territory, it would be best to share what they knew. And since Loki seemed to be a hunter apart from being an enchanter, he could have been able to observe creatures that she’d not seen before.

Loki immediately felt his heart sink when the warrior whom he had greeted just moments ago appeared to be a wolf hair. Granted, he had nothing wrong with wolf hairs, in fact, they made enjoyable company but his history with some of them was just too wrong for him to make do with even trying for begging forgiveness. It was the different between himself and other foxtails though. He tried to please everyone that did not put themselves higher than others while when it came to certain wolf hairs, they automatically believed they ruled everyone in their presence and it drove him nuts because of it, making him want to completely decimate any of such availability into nothing more than dust. Granted, this was just the way he was and there was not any ways to really change up how all this came down from the supposed top and trickled down to him on the lower side of the thinking.
Such was his thoughts and although he watched her carve the two slimes apart like butter, he still had to get used to her speaking patterns nonetheless. Her question of him knowing things was odd, but he did know some of the more generic things about the marshlands and although he was a hunter, he was not the best at such a job. He spoke calmly though, “I did not know that they were attracted to magic. However, I am certain there are plenty more slimes where those two came from. As for anything else, that may be in a land that is not readily known to me. There are probably a few Ember Newts around. Level sevens mostly. Aside from them, there is also the Goblin Scouts of level twelve. In addition, I know there is one more but I am not certain how reliable my sources on it are. The sources say there is a Level eighteen black lagoon around as well. I have yet to see any proof of this creature though while having been here on the brink of insanity.”

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) The wolf hair’s ears remained pointing at Loki’s direction as he spoke, the girl taking in every word for any clues about the marshland. Her wolf ears twitched at the mention of Ember Newt, though the rest of what Loki said did not ring any more bells. Once the enchanter was done speaking, the girl’s ears flipped back as her heart sank, having just realized that she would have to share what she knew as well. And speaking required words. WORDS!
“ Ember Newt… “ she started.
The girl turned around and resumed the walk farther into the marshlands. Her wolf ears flicked at the slightest sound from beyond the trees. She might have seemed rude though it was not her intention; it just took a long time for the samurai to string words together.
“ Punched one to death, “ Caerbannog recalled her marshland exploration with Oxford.
She thought back to whatever else happened that day. Coincidentally, a familiar stump was nearby and the girl pointed at it as she walked on.
“ Possessed stump, “ the samurai ducked as it threw mud at her, “ Can’t move though. “
The black-haired wolf hair quickened her pace until they were out of the stump’s range. If the foxtail decided to use it for target practice, she’d slow down and wait for him to finish the thing off. It would have been at a huge disadvantage, for the enchanter also had a ranged weapon unlike the samurai.

Loki followed after the samurai girl, following her into the marshes as he found out a bit more of the girl. He found out just by observing her, only to find she was not all too keen on there being multiple words stringed together. At least from his eyes and notice of when she had to supply the words for the conversation she would struggle at it. This however was not uncalled for but it did leave him with some room for a bit of memory jolts. At the least bit, he had to focus and understand just what drove such a feeling in and of itself. When he did mention the newts he got some words verbally out of her, mainly just a repeat but then also how she defeated one, of course not in the best of fashions with a fire critter. Granted, he was not one to complain when it came to how another would best and defeat a creature in single handed combat. Combat was not his specialty anyways, he was all about using some trickery, until of course such trickery was proven to be useless.
Only on few occasions did it ever not work in his favor, most of those occasions being when he had other priorities to focus on than making friends. However, he did notice her ducking, in time for him to do so as well for the mud to zip by over his own head. The creature there was pretty well a sorry state, and even though he felt the need to bolster a level the creature would just waste too much time. There were always improved ways for doing things, and that was the main priority of the situation, as it would seem. His eyes peering and following the girl with which he had to just sigh lightly, having not much company or talking going on kept him from his usual chaotic tendencies at least, while in the same time he wondered just how anyone lived without speaking so much. He however did start planning ahead, when the best times would arise to utilize his magic yet again without the possibility of said magic finding holster in something in a sinister light, such as gathering monster towards them.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Samurai's Challenge The pair of adventurers passed by the possessed stump without delay, for the creature could not chase them even if it wanted to. Past that point, the trees arched higher overhead and hid more of the sky, creating fragmented shadows on the marshlands. The samurai walked on, careful with each step lest she fall into something that she would not be able to get out of. Most of her steps found solid ground, though there was the occasional misstep into solid-looking mud, at which point she’d alert the foxtail to watch where he was walking. The air felt cooler farther into that place since there was less sunlight; however the decaying smell of plants lingered for the wind was barely able to pass through the branches, leaving the place with little ventilation. Fortunately, since dead creatures usually turned to data crystals as they were killed, there was little to no smell of dead animals.
Hrairoo then sat up straight in the satchel, his ears perked up towards the samurai’s left side. His eyes followed something, and Caerbannog soon noticed the sound of rustling plants and the crackle of twigs being broken. She put a hand on her saya and the other one on her weapon’s hilt just as a Level 7 Goblin Scout emerged from between the trees to the adventurer’s left side. At first, it seemed to be looking at something up ahead, so the samurai turned a little to check on Loki and if he had not taken cover yet, she’d gesture for the enchanter to step a little to the side. It was ideal for the target to aggro on a tank and since the foxtail was a ranged fighter, he’d do well even while concealed.
The Goblin Scout soon turned around and as soon as it laid eyes on the adventurer, or adventurers, it started waving its crude sword around. The creature then yelled something in its own language; it sounded pretty rude but the samurai did not care. To ensure that the goblin would focus on her and instead of the enchanter, she issued a [Samurai’s Challenge]. The girl straightened up and put her right foot forward. Her left hand remained on her saya, but the right hand was held up for the goblin scout to see. She gave it a thumb-up sign which the girl then quickly flipped to a thumb-down sign, an act that further infuriated the target as expected. While she was issuing the challenge, the foxtail could take his time to get into position for sniping or to cast a spell.

Loki did not like the silence all that much, mainly because there was just too much of it and he already could tell that from the silence there was just too many chances of them being attacked. Or a mistake occurring in such a time, however Loki had an understanding about this while he moved forwards and appeared with thought on everything while soon enough the small placements of the walking was some missteps. Thereby he was appreciative when she aided in alerting him where to watch his steps, as he did not want to appear helpless, but at the same time, he did not want to put them in more harm than anything else, that was truly not, what he wanted. Thereby he popped his neck and viewed the area with a calm sensibility trying to make a sense of just what they were going to be doing. Granted, his idea of what he had to do during this was very limited by the level and such that he was among. Such a low level as himself, he stood little to no chance on his own the deeper they could delve.
Then a scout arrives, his own keen senses were lacking with the hunter skill when the scout arose and ambushed them. Loki immediately went back behind the samurai, not to save his own skin but clearly knowing that a low leveled goblin like that was no match for a samurai of Caerbannog’s capacity while able to take him down in one hit. That was just a fact since his HP was lower than most to begin with as an enchanter fox tail. There, Loki moved his eyes to go glancing at the wolf hair girl, watching her go with her skill while he jumped further back, pulling back the bow string and aiming a steady arrow as well as a spell. The only spell he knew being astral hypno yet the spell and the arrow both could do well as he gathered the mana. Launching the arrow and spell as one, the effect could almost be similar to a paralysis poison tipped weapon. His arrow going in and striking into the collarbone region of the goblin yet the ten seconds would begin automatically with the spell, Loki calling out to Caerbannog, “Ten seconds of sleep, now is the time to put him down.”

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) -:- Skill: Izunagiri For someone of his level, the samurai thought the foxtail to be very skilled. Perhaps he had some training in the real world, she thought. As for her, the only training she ever had was from videogames and she tried her best to adapt those tanking strategies to Elder Tale’s system. So far, it was working though she had to adjust a little depending on the situation. The foxtail however, using his weapon seemed to be so natural that the samurai forgot the level gap between them. As for the skill used on the goblin scout itself, it was a standard spell for some caster classes that she encountered before.
Caerbannog had hoped to let the enchanter take care of the target with her just acting as the mediator. But with the sleep spell, fooling around was no longer an option. Once the creature was hit again, it would wake up and probably attack the spell’s caster. The samurai decided to just continue her chain attacks which started with the Challenge. Caerbannog drew her sword and lifted it overhead, and then with one downward slash she used [Izunagiri]. The goblin did not have to be within her weapon’s reach for that attack extended her range a bit, though limited to the enemy in front of her.
The vacuum air blade hit the slumbering goblin scout and it woke up just as its hit points dwindled to zero. Between the samurai’s level which turned her Tier 1 skills to Tier 2, her generic yet worthy nagamaki and the force of Izunagiri itself, the goblin stood no chance. With the deed done and their surroundings clear so far, Caerbannog turned to the foxtail after she sheathed her sword.
“ I’m sorry, “ the samurai bowed slightly at the foxtail, “ Can’t use Teacher System. Much aggressive mobs. “
