Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Her plan didn’t work. Caerbannog was not able to asphyxiate Oxford by using her plushie rabbit. Perhaps a more direct approach would do- these were the words that the samurai wanted to say. She wanted to joke about what just happened, but was unable to do so. The samurai was really bad at stringing words together after all and before she could say anything, the moment passed. The guardian was already very much awake and even apologized to her. She gave him an acknowledging nod as she hugged Kuromimi tightly.
The guardian then took his armor off to clean it up. It would take quite a while, she thought; and so Caerbannog was just about ready to look away, to check the area for some aloe vera or oregano, when an attack came her way. Not an offensive attack though; it was more like an attack of feels. Kuromimi was squished between the two tanks even though Oxford was careful with his own gesture. If the plushie rabbit had been alive, it would have died right then and there. More importantly, what was that about?
“ Eee? “ the wolf-hair looked up at the half-alv guardian, her face bright red and she looked slightly upset, confused and happy at the same time, “ Don’t! I’ll cry again! “
Caerbannog did not put much thought into who the adventurer was, rather she wondered about the gesture and its meaning. Only people who were close to one another or cared for someone would do such things. So the guardian was a friend-friend, like Ryuu and Stryke? Not just a friend in her Friends List but someone who cared for her well-being. What was the proper response in such a situation?
“ But that was nice, “ the samurai said and she smiled a smile that only those close to her had seen; and spoke in a manner that was relaxed and honest, “ Thank you. I feel better now. “
She then stood up and put the plushie on her head. With one hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun, she scanned the horizon for their next objective.

Status: Awkward Oxford Not wanting to have Caer cry again, he let go, regretting that he made the decision in the first place.
(Of course, I didn't think things through again...)
He turned back to getting rid of the gunk from his armor, sighing as he realized that he just made the situation more awkward through his gesture of concern.
He lightened up when Caer thanked him, her voice sounding more relaxed compared to before. Oxford grinned, rubbing the chain mail a little more vigourously to get the annoying globs out of it.
(Come to think of it, this is probably the most relaxed she's been around me.)
After his armor was clean, or close to clean, he re-equipped it, shifting it around until it felt comfortable again. He pulled out his notebook, marking off the first 3 ingredients in his list.
His quill stopped at the last two: aloe vera and oregano. He knew one was a spice and the other's name was common seen on bottles of women's moisturizing cream.
Having little to no knowledge about either of where the plants would be located, Oxford left the search to Caer, ready to begin the search when she gave the word.
He chuckled to himself as he saw Caer, looking around for her ingredients while her stuffed plushie bobbed around on the Samurai's head.Words: 222 OOC Notes: ┬─┬ノ( º _ ºノ) Tags: @dindeen |

Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Slimes were pretty useful after all. Not just for leveling but for bringing people together too. Or at least that was how Caerbannog looked at the situation. Earlier, she thought the guardian a bit strange but after she threw her tantrum, he’d been nothing but kind... and sleepy. But still kind. She was no longer too cautious with her actions around him, though the samurai was still unable to think of proper sentences quickly.
“ Oregano grow where chamomile grow, “ Caerbannog pointed at a plant which was a short distance away.
It looked just like a chamomile plant, and indeed it was, but beyond that plant almost hidden behind various blooms and vegetation, there lay a single oregano plant. It was not a rare type of flora but it could be difficult to spot for oregano grew where there was much sunlight, even if that spot was amidst a group of slumbering baby brier weasels. Caerbannog thought the creatures to be absolutely cute and so she approached them without caution.
The samurai hopped and skipped towards the oregano and towards the baby weasels around it. If only she knew that the creatures’ parent, a Level 30 brier weasel, was about to emerge from the Greatwoods where it was hunting; if only she knew that the creature would soon arrive and return to its children in that area... maybe Caerbannog would have run away. Or not. Cute creatures were also her weakness.

Status: A Nice Surprise, A Deadly Encounter The baby weasels yawned, some restless ones crawling over others to try getting a better spot in the sun. They emitted little squeaks as the climbed, immediately captivating Oxford with their combined adorableness.
(I've been surrounded by cute things this entire trip.)
He would have loved to pick one up and pet it, but who knew where the Momma Weasel would be. If it came and saw them petting the babies, it would go to the defensive, maybe even slaughtering both of them if the mother was incredibly high-level.
As the two of them were crouched admiring the little baby creatures, a low growl could be heard not far from where they were at. The flowers ahead of them were moving, indicating that the Mother Weasel was steadily closing on them.
"C'mon, Caer, we've gotta get out of here. NOW."
He grabbed the plant by the stalk, pulling it up at the roots. He made sure he didn't disturb any of the weasels, otherwise the overprotective parent would chase them for a good long while.
Oxford also didn't want to pick a fight with it. It just didn't feel right to turn the small beasts into orphans, stranded in the middle of a field all on their own.
He pulled Caer up as he got up, giving them both enough time to run from the Level 30 Briar Weasel that burst through the thicket.
Caer easily overtook the Guardian (but not by much, due to the Teacher System from before), Oxford's legs pumping as fast as he could to match the Samurai's Agility stat.
He held the plant close to him as he ran, trying not to let any leaves fall off their prize.Words: 284 OOC Notes: GottaGoFast Tags: @dindeen |

Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) It was the first time that the samurai ever saw baby weasels in Elder Tale. She’d seen the larger ones around Sarum but they all seemed so angry and mean. Yet the baby weasels... they seemed so harmless and cute! The animal trainer, and the girly girl, in Caerbannog wanted to reach out and squeeze the little things. A growl then alerted her and the guardian to the presence of the weasels’ protector; it was time to move out!
Oxford was smart and quick enough to just grab the whole oregano plant. That was one more thing off the list and only the aloe vera was left for them to find. Caerbannog knew the most likely place that they would find it and so she gestured for the guardian to follow. She looked behind them momentarily and noticed that the mother weasel was on their heels, but once they were far from the creature’s offspring, the weasel stopped and returned to its babies.
“ Landers cultivate aloe vera, “ she said to the guardian as they ran.
Though the last plant that they needed could have been planted and grown all over the Greatwoods and Savill Flower Grove, it was uncertain whether they would actually find it. Bad soil composition and horrible weather could usually kill the plants off, so their best bet was to head for the landers who were tending to the Flower Grove and to ask for their aloe vera. They would probably be sent on some silly quest as compensation.

As they lost sight of the protective weasel, the Guardian began to slow down, catching his breath as the world around him seemed to calm down. It was probably due to all the flowers, their sweet fragrance filling the air every time the sky breathed.
Oxford took the time to hand Caer the oregano, out of fear that he may lose more leaves from the single stalk. A couple had fallen off during their escapade, but there was still enough to help the Samurai accomplish whatever task she was using them for.
Landers could be seen in the distance, tending to their flowers and other plants in their gardens. The place almost felt like something straight out of a Tolkein fantasy.
Almost every kind of in-game plant imaginable could be found, although finding a Lander selling the coveted aloe was difficult. Whenever they did find one, the Lander would want an exorbitant amount of money.
The way some of them acted, Oxford would have preferred burying them in their own gardens.
(They're starting to remind me of some of those greedy merchants back in London...)
The anger he was beginning to feel faded away as a familiar face approached the two of them. He realized that he never got the girl's name after their encounter back at London. The display said 'Laura'.
"Hey, it's Laura!"
He knelt down as the small Lander ran to him, picking her up in a great big hug, swinging her around a couple times before setting her lightly on the ground again.
"Is your father doing better these days?"
The girl gave an enthusiastic nod, causing Oxford to smile. She then noticed the Samurai accompanying him, causing the young lady to hide behind Oxford.
Oxford let out a small laugh as he introduced Laura to Caer.
"Don't worry, she won't bite. She's a good Wolf-Hair."
He gave Caer a teasing hair ruffle, knowing that this action would probably earn Oxford a bite or two.
(Take my hand clean off, she would...)
Remembering why they had come here, he turned back to Laura.
"You wouldn't happen to know where we could find some 'Aloe Vera', would you?"
The shy girl looked at her shoes, shaking her head. Then her head shot up, her eyes shining with a sudden realization.
"My father would probably know. Here, I'll take you to him!"
The girl turned around and led them to her house. Oxford began to follow the Lander, hoping that the girl's father wouldn't charge them too much if he happened to have the plant.Words: 427OOC Notes: Backstory if you absolutely need it. Tags: @dindeen |

Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) After the short chase, Oxford handed the oregano to the samurai and she quickly stored it in her inventory. With that out of the way, they could focus on looking for the last item in her ingredients list. Up ahead, the landers were tending to their gardens and their own business. Caerbannog looked at the cultivated plants; only a few of those pots and trays contained aloe vera. Some were not for sale, others were too small to be used for what she needed, still others were too old for her purpose, and the plants which were actually for sale and just the right age and size were overpriced.
Caerbannog would have settled for an overpriced one just to get it over with until a lander named Laura approached them. She seemed to be more than familiar with Oxford; not surprising since the guardian was always nice and helpful. The samurai felt a bit downcast when the lander hid away from her though, but that feeling soon was replaced by a tinge of annoyance when the half-alv patted the wolf-hair’s head. Seriously? Why... everyone... pat on the head... why? Caerbannog momentarily shot a mean look at the guardian but she soon sighed, closed her eyes and just shrugged. It was something that she should accept already. Everyone thought her a child.
Laura seemed to be more than willing to help with their plight and so the adventurers followed the girl to her home. A kind-looking man greeted them upon their arrival and after Laura explained the situation to him, he invited them to sit down on the wooden benches in front of the man’s pots and trays of herbs and plants which included some well-tended aloe vera.
“ I won’t give this to you for free, “ he said with a chuckle, “ This place is rather sleepy. So will you tell me one of your stories? “
The wolf-hair sat down on one of the benches but upon hearing the lander’s request, she looked up at Oxford with a surprised expression.

Status: Once Upon A Time...The End The old man and his daughter turned to face Oxford, their eyes on him. He would have passed the story baton to Caer, but she was already staring up at him, already a member of the staring bandwagon.
He began to sweat a little at suddenly being the center of attention, wanting to crawl into a hole somewhere and hide to escape everyone's stares. Oxford's mind suddenly went blank as he tried to recall a somewhat mediocre tale about some vague interesting event he might've had back in the real world.
Setting himself down on the bench next to Caer, he cleared his throat and adjusted his glasses before telling his story.
He began to tell his story, a story involving how he was a lowly programmer at a software corporation, but then one day received a cell phone in the mail. The man on the other end of the cell told him that he could show him the truth behind the world if Oxford agreed to take a pill that would open his eyes. The truth revealed the world to be nothing but a nightmare controlled by rogue, self-sentient AIs, which Oxford single-handedly defeated himself.
Despite blatantly ripping the story from a well-known movie trilogy, the Landers seemed to have enjoyed the story, although slight looks of confusion remained on their faces.
(I've must've used some terminology they're not familiar with...)
With his story told, he turned to Caer, propping his elbow on his knee as he held his chin in his hand.
"Go on, Caer. Your turn."
He flashed the Wolf-Hair a mischievious grin.Words: 268 OOC Notes: Aren't I a stinker? Tags: @dindeen |

Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) The samurai was, at first, interested in Oxford’s story. It started out simple enough like the daily life of a middle-class worker. And then that phone call... and then, the pill. Caerbannog’s eyes narrowed down to slits which showed much disapproval. So that was how he was going to play it, eh? She did have a tall tale in mind when the lander mentioned that he wanted to hear stories, but Oxford’s version of The Matrix really fired up her story-telling skills. Once it was her turn to speak, Caerbannog cleared her throat and then she cleared her mind to be able to turn her memories into intelligible words. {She began- }I still remember that day clearly as if it happened yesterday. It was a long, lonely drive across a grey highway northeast of my city. There were few cars and trucks headed the same direction but curiously, none came from the other side. I thought nothing of it, not at first. But as the hours passed by and the day moved on, I began to wonder just how long that highway actually was. Speed limit was sixty miles per hour so I couldn’t go any faster. Besides, my truck was fairly heavy- if I stepped on the gas, chaos might ensue. And so I continued that long, lonely drive across that unknown highway to the other side. I looked at my hands; they were calloused. Such were the hands of a working man. I reached out to turn the radio on because I was getting bored. At first a familiar song began to play but it was quickly replaced by static. I switched stations; still there was nothing but static. So I was stuck on that seemingly endless journey with nothing but static on my radio. For how long was I traveling? I had no idea. My wristwatch was busted so I stuffed it into the dashboard between some unpaid bills and mortgage notices.
I looked to my left and noticed that the sun was just about ready to vanish beneath the horizon. Damn, I was losing daylight so quickly. Maybe I should have left the city earlier. The fog which covered the road up ahead didn’t help either. It was difficult to see the road; I looked at the sun again as its light was replaced by the moon. All it took was that one moment, just one second of distraction when my eyes were off the road. When I looked back, a dark-haired girl crossed the road and I had to swerve to avoid her. My heart pounded so fast in my chest as I tried to control my beast of a truck. It was old and heavy; still road worthy, but difficult to control in emergencies. Still, I knew her, how to control her and make her do my bidding. I was able to swerve quickly enough to avoid the girl and my truck was not damaged either. Well, it had a few scratches on the side where it grazed a town sign but it wasn’t anything serious. More importantly, I wanted to know if the girl was fine. I was in a foggy, deserted highway with nothing but the rising moon and the twinkling stars as my witness, yet I was genuinely worried for the girl. If I did hit her, I knew not to run; I would have taken her to the hospital.
I turned my truck’s engine off, pocketed the keys and hopped out of the driver’s seat. I closed the door behind me to make sure that no raccoons or foxes boarded while I was away. First, I looked beneath the truck, hoping and praying that I would not find a dead girl’s body there. I bent low and then I was down on my kness... I looked under my truck and- there was nothing. I saw a pair of legs though; by the looks of it, it was the girl whom I nearly h it with my big old truck. She ran away and so I stood up quickly to follow her, but strangely enough I did not see her emerge from the other side of my truck. Curious... who was that- suddenly, I heard a scream. I turned around and noticed a house by the side of the road; it was a stone’s throw away from where my truck ended up. The house was in flames. Being the person that I am, without a moment of hesitation, I ran towards the burning house. A dark-haired woman stood close to the door seemingly concerned.
“ Is there anyone else in the house? “ I asked her but she pushed me and then she ran away.
She might have been traumatized, I thought, and so I was ready to run after her to check if she was fine. However, the same scream which I heard earlier drew my attention back to the house. It was the voice of a girl and I knew that I could not abandon her. Perhaps the woman ran away to ask for help? I could only hope. But even so, I had to do something right then and right there. There was a town up ahead for sure since I saw the sign earlier; however, due to the thick fog and the darkness of the night, I could not gauge our distance from the town. I did not know if the firefighters would be able to arrive in time to save the girl, so I made a decision.
I turned back to the door of the burning house and kicked it in. The air was hot and suffocating; I put my arm over my face to protect myself and I also tried to keep my breathing short and shallow. My lungs could be seared by excessive heat or suffocated by thick smoke; I would die before I even reach the girl unless I was careful. Around me, bookcases and chairs were ablaze. The wooden floor was in flames and so was the thin wall covered with wallpaper. In front of me, there was a staircase but that too was engulfed by the dancing red flames. To my horror, another scream rang through the house and it sounded as if it came from the second floor. Despite the blaze around me and the danger that I would surely go through, I knew that I had to find another way up there. I had to save that girl.
Without a second thought, I ran up the burning staircase. The steps seemed weak for flames licked them thoroughly and I knew that it would soon fall apart. I ran up those weak steps and heard the crack and collapse of wood behind me but I did not look back. Only when I was on the solid flooring of the second storey did I look back- the stairs had been eaten completely by the blaze. I would have to find another way down, but first I had to find the girl. Another scream led me to her direction; to my right. I could only see bookcases and wooden cabinets in that direction so I ran around a bit. Eventually, I came across an area which had little furniture and... symbols on the floor? I thought nothing of it at that time. Just an odd design choice perhaps. I really did not have the luxury of mulling over my thoughts at that point.
Amidst the blaze, the burning books, the charred chairs, the hot air and the thick smoke, there lay a girl who was burned beyond recognition. I wondered how that was possible for although the house was burning right then and there, the girl seemed to have been burned prior to that. But it was not my place to question. I simply scooped the girl up in my arms and put her face close to my chest. I whispered to her that she would be alright even though I was not sure due to her condition. Still, I’ll be damned if I did not try to save her. I scanned the entire second storey as far as my eyes could see. Unable to put my arms or hands up to cover my face, I had to be quick.
My eyes checked every nook and cranny until eventually I found another staircase nearby. I ran quickly towards it. To my surprise, a symbol suddenly appeared in front of me and that made me stop on my tracks. The ceiling then crashed right on the spot where I would have been if that symbol had not appeared. I took that as a sign. I was supposed to save that girl, and it served to fuel my drive to get out of that burning house alive. I would save her not to be a hero but to be a person who could do what was good and what was right. The symbol stayed on the same spot which probably meant that the straight path was unsafe. Therefore I stepped to the right side of that symbol and continued my dash towards the stairs.
No symbols appeared as I ran down the steps with the burned girl in my arms. I could still feel her deep gasps as she tried to hang onto her dear life. She was charred and unrecognizable; she did not even look human anymore, but I knew that she was. I knew in my heart, in my soul, my very being that I was saving a young human girl. I soon reached the bottom of the staircase which gave away when I stepped off of it. There were symbols strewn about on the first floor and they guided me away from dangerous areas. The bookcases were on fire and the flames licked the ceiling of the first storey. I stayed far away from them since such furniture could fall over and pin down both the girl and I.
With the help of the symbols, I was able to reach the front door but a wall of fire blocked my way. To my shock, which was soon followed by relief, another symbol appeared and it cleared my path. I did not look back. I knew that the house could not be saved. With whatever strength was left in my body, I ran through the front door and into the safety of the yard. As soon as I stepped out of that house, I felt my strength leave me. I knelt onto the warm grass at the front yard and gently laid the girl down. She was still breathing; that was good. I then felt my chest tighten up. I coughed and choked on air since the temperature around me was much lower than what I breathed in when I was in the house. Maybe I inhaled too much smoke too. My head began to hurt and I had to move to my right side so that I would not fall on the girl whom I just saved. I lay on the yard coughing and gagging on air for a while until eventually, the fog crept in over us and I lost consciousness. The last things that I heard were eerie crackles and sputters, the sound of feet being dragged across the pavement, and the noise of blaring sirens in the distance.
I woke up to another foggy day. To my relief, I found myself on a bench just outside a town; someone let me rest there instead of leaving me on the cold ground in front of a burned down house. Speaking of which, I jolted awake when I remembered the events which transpired during the previous evening. I wondered where the girl was and so I decided to explore that town. My truck was still probably in the same place anyway; the highway was all but deserted last time I checked and I had the keys to my truck. So I walked on farther into the town which was, for some reason, very quiet and foggy. Perhaps it was one of those places which rarely had visitors. Perhaps most of the residents already moved out to live in the larger cities. Whatever the reason was, the town was silent even under broad daylight. It unnerved me.
I walked on until I noticed a town map by the side of the road. I looked around and did not see anyone who could need it, and so I removed that large piece of paper from its board, folded it and decided to keep it for my own. Was that vandalism? Who knows. And who cares anyway? I took a quick glance at the map, checked the street signs close to me and looked for my destination. A hospital was marked clearly on the map. I wanted to know if the girl survived so I noted that destination and turned around a corner to my left side. The sign read “Crichton Street”. I walked up that silent, wide path until I came to a corner at which I turned right. A few more steps and eventually I found myself in front of the hospital. She had to be there. It was the only place where that severely burned girl could have been taken. I walked in through the front door with hope in my heavy heart. I knew I did the right thing when I saved her from that burning house, but after that, her life was in someone else’s hands.
Caerbannog’s story ended at that. She looked at Oxford and then she looked at the landers while she secretly hoped that they would just give her the damn aloe vera and be done with it. The next part of her story would probably jump over the PG-13 line after all. OOC Notes: --- | Word Count: 2292 total (2137 story + 155 RP) | Tags: @dindeen @0x1dea |

Status: JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY PLANTS Oxford nearly fell asleep as Caer told her story, feeling a little grumpy that the Wolf-Hair had managed to one-up him by telling a completely original story.
The Lander and his daughter were obviously impressed with Caer's wordcraft. So impressed, in fact, that the father went to his pantry and brought out a whole sack of aloe vera, promptly dumping it at their feet.
"My word, that's a story for the ages. I wish I had a Scribe to write that down for me."
Oxford straightened up when he heard 'Scribe' mentioned, but decided not to reveal any information on the matter.
(I've already done one quest for him, I'm not really feeling like doing another immediately afterwards...)
He stretched as he stood up, bending over to pick up the bag with one hand and rubbing his sleeping legs with the other.
"Thank you very much for your generous donation."
"Ah, not a problem, my boy. I just wish I had more to give you."
Oxford hefted the bag over his shoulder, the bag weighing about as much as if a boulder was in it. Nothing too heavy, but still heavy nonetheless.
(Heh, would Caer be able to handle all this weight?)
He gave a little chuckle at the mental picture in his mind, imagining the small Samurai carrying the bag as if it were no more than a feather.
The two left the Lander's abode, Oxford waving goodbye to Laura as they began to head to nowhere in particular. He was following Caer, not knowing if she was going to be headed back to Londenium, or if she would drag him somewhere else.Words: 274 OOC Notes: -- Tags: @dindeen |

Equipped: Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Finally, aloe vera! Caerbannog was visibly overjoyed by the acquisition of said item. She bowed to the landers and let Oxford carry the bag although she could just stuff everything into her inventory. Items do stack after all, possibly 99 per stack. But never you mind, reader. The guardian was playing the gentleman and Caerbannog would not ruin his fantasy.
The samurai skipped happily across the fields of Savill Flower Grove. She led the way back to the main road to Londenium. It was a short walk, surprisingly enough; shorter than their trek to the Grove. Perhaps it was due to the completion of their objective. It probably made the samurai feel lighter, unburdened. That, or it was probably because the landers showed them a shortcut. Darn landers and their secrets...
“ Thank you, “ the samurai said to Oxford once they arrived at Londenium, “ I’m going to make candies now. “
She took the aloe vera out of the guardian’s hands and quickly stored it in her inventory. Caerbannog then gave the guardian one quick but tight hug... perhaps too tight? Anyway, it did not last long so his lungs were not crushed. She then bowed and ran off towards St. Pancras Station to looked cooking materials.
