Well, not everyone in the magic business is interested in the right and proper path. This ink takes some of the properties of its parent elements and combines them, creating an ink substance that can be used to write on air itself. Like Invisible Ink before it, it can come in the form of a paint can, spray paint, regular ink, or whatever else. You can write on almost any surface with this, but a strong gust or errant hand will wipe all that way. Messages won't stay for long free-floating in harsh currents. Adding mana into the floating message causes it to glow more brightly. The quill is not consumed.
Explanation: It's exactly the same as the Invisible Ink that came before it, except that it also happens to be able to be free-floating and you can sorta write like with that fancy 3-d pen you see places? Ofc practice makes perfect with this thing and Scribes are going to be better off, just cuz they're used to 'writing'. The main point is to go from hijinks on surfaces to hijinks in 3-d, which is possible thanks to the super shiny mega awesome effects of Oxford's Sorc Quill. It was discovered the same way Scoria discovers everything, he had an idea and he went with it. It helped that Oxford's quill when used on regular paper made whatever was drawn pop off the paper and float for a bit (like some other stuff Scoria researched) and he figured he could take that and use it as a baseline for what he wanted instead of researching his own thing and taking extra steps around. So basically he used Oxford for his research. Like the evil jerk that he is. Not much else to say to that. Naturally it's not going to stand up to strong currents but maybe at higher levels it could? It's also multi-colored and glows so have fun with that.
