[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]GUTHBRAND [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Devlin McCain [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 32 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok, Vikings [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Devlin [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] The differences between Guthbrand and Devlin are few, they are both around six and a half feet tall [198 cm], both muscular and fit with six-packs finally starting to show nicely, both have blueish green eyes that change depending on the light one sees them in, both have a hirsute beard that is trimmed and taken care of, and they both have scars on the face and nose as well as the upper torso. This is where the similarities stop, Guthbrand has his blond hair shaved down to the sides but kept long on the top and back (which is usually pulled back in a pony tail) that reaches mid shoulder blade with it's length. Devlin on the other hand keeps his hair in a flattop, one that doesn't interfere with helmets or get caught on anything. Guthbrand tends to wear layered armorer, a second vest or shirt over his padded armor. He tends to like to stick to browns and other earthy colors, though he wouldn't pass up a newer set of better gear for preferences alone. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] There are a few things that need to be understood about Guthbrand, the first of which is that the aura of self-confidence he projects is not arrogance, even though it might seem that way to those who don't understand him. He knows what he knows and what he doesn’t know and his areas of knowledge are large and varying. The second is that some would consider Guthbrand a perfectionist, but in reality its simply that he knows that there is near endless capacity for improving upon anything that one has an interest in, there is always something new one can learn or a better way to do things. Of course he realizes that sometimes things are “good enough” and don’t need to be improved upon, he will then move on to a new thing (this is actually why he has played so many online games and why he has his current job). The third thing is that Guthbrand doesn’t hold on to sentiment for its own sake, nor does he let authority or conventions bog him down. Getting past this one find that Guthbrand is unsparing of both himself and others that are working with him towards a goal (excluding only his younger brother). If he considers someone to be slacking or not pulling their weight he loses respect for them, and he has no problem with letting them know regardless if they are h is superior, underling, friend or simply an acquaintance. While Guthbrand is able to care deeply for others, it is always just a select few (his brother being one of them). While he is willing to put in time and effort on maintaining or creating a relationship with others, he doesn’t have the patience for small talk and things like flirtation. It doesn’t help that Guthbrand is generally a private person and appears to be naturally impassive to those that don’t know him well. He also expects people to be direct and reasonable, regardless of the fact that most people are neither. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Devlin was born in the USA, in Texas if one wanted to be exact. He grew up playing video games, working on computers and generally finding things that interested him and pursuing them despite the warnings of his elders that they would never come to much (IE: “It’s a waste of time, don’t bother.”). This path was followed throughout his life, with him learning things that others dismissed or would chide him over, networks, security, and other such things. Devlin had trouble with several teachers while in high school as well as the administration till it eventually boiled over with Devlin cutting one of his classes completely as it was in his own words “A waste of my time”. He eventually got in trouble over this due to police showing up and nabbing him on truancy, rather than being fined, arrested or anything like that he was sentenced to twenty hours of community service, which he completed during a single weekend. Of course he dropped out of high school the Monday afterwards and went and got his GED the very next day. Devlin had some trouble deciding on what he wanted to do after this, he worked a few dead end jobs (a dishwasher at Casa Ole and a worker at Whataburger) before he decided on joining the military. While he scored well enough on the ASVAB (and his GT score was high enough as well) that he could choose any job in the military he wound up going with Medic. He signing up for a four year period, while he had some trouble in boot camp due to feeling that some of the Drill Sergeants where lazy (didn’t do what they were supposed to, this was even pointed out in conversations the other Drills had when they thought that he and the other soldiers couldn’t hear them). This continued into his AiT where it was obvious that some didn’t do their job and only worsened when he actually got to his unit. All of the senior members of the platoon put off all things onto the lower members of the platoon, even the jobs that were supposed to be done exclusively by them such as preparing briefings for the Lt. Col. (Lieutenant Colonel) and ordering of supplies. This caused Devlin to have an instant dislike for them that extended throughout his entire time in service, though he got along well with many of the other lower enlisted and was well liked by those outside of his direct chain of command (mostly because they did their job and he did his to his best ability). While Devlin had intended to make a career out of the military when he first started, due to the attitudes of people in higher positions of authority, he left the military, disenchanted with it to the point where he did not reup, instead returning to the civilian world. He took around a year break before he started his life once more, joining college going for a degree in Computer Network Systems, Network Security and Digital Forensics. He also attained his CCNA and Security+ certificates by the time he graduated. He went to work with a company based in Austin, whom he still works for to this day. Eventually he was working beside his brother, whom had gotten a job with the same company, though in a different field than Devlin himself had. As time went on he was offered a raise and all-expense paid move to England, where he would be working as the CIO (Chief Information Officer) of the local branch of the company he worked for. He agreed readily, prepared for the move and the new life that it would allow him to live in another country that he liked. While Devlin had always considered himself a well versed gamer he had not played one of the oldest MMO’s out there, the game Elder Tale, which had been around for nearly twenty years. With the release of their new expansion pack he decided that it would be a great time for him to jump in feet first and enjoy a game that he hadn’t touched nor had much information about as he settled into a new country in a new location that he knew little about. He felt it was a fitting thing to do. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"] Blood Type: O+ Nonsmoker Regular Drinker Right Handed |

While many characters use quick slots in order to swap out their weapons, this requires a manual action. The use of Quick Swap does this exchange automatically. This switching can only be done with two equipment sets at a time, both of which are registered prior to the start of battle. When Quick Swap is used, the current equipment set will be swapped out to the other set designated by the skill. Due to the nature of this skill, it is best used by characters of the Weapon Specialist classes. This skill has an animation time of 1 second. Its cooldown if used by a Weapon Specialist class is 30 seconds which increases to 60 seconds if used by any other class. [attr="class","skill"]Rapid Shot A physical ranged attack. While adventurers normally favor the blade in combat, some prefer striking from afar, staying unseen even as their victims breathe their last breaths. As the user is somewhat limited by the strength of their bows, unable to apply their full strength at time, Rapid Shot was designed to increase the number of arrows that can be fired. In the time that it takes for most of fire one arrow, a user of this technique can fire two. Accuracy is slightly reduced however, as the user cannot take the time to focus their aim with this technique. This skill has an animation time of 0.5 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Fall Defense - Tier I Skill A toggle skill that is acquired by the character's natural reflexes and physical coordination. By knowing the most effective ways to recover from a fall while sustaining as little damage as possible, these characters take 20% less damage from fall damage occurring from falls at heights of 3 meters or higher. This reduction changes to 30% when the character reaches Level 30, 40% at Level 60, and 50% at Level 90. [attr="class","skill"]Hearing Aptitude - Tier I Skill A toggle skill that improves the character's hearing perception. Whispers can be heard from about 2 meters away, conversations can be heard up to 10 meters away, and the hearing range of the most distant sounds are doubled. It is a very effective skill for the sake of gathering intel and eavesdropping. [attr="class","skill"]Beatdown - Tier I Skill A toggle-activated monk ability that grants the monk a gradual increase in damage and attack speed for every opponent they defeat. This skill utilizes a combo system, where after about a minute if the user had not gotten another kill, the effect is canceled. [attr="class","skill"]Zoom Attack - Tier I Skill Usually called Zoom Punch or Zoom Kick by players who use it in the respective way, the Monk launches a punch or kick at the target as their limb extends for an additional meter forward for a few moments. The suddenly extended range of attack catches most melee opponents off guard. This skill is literally and figuratively one of the most flexible Monk skills, making it a viable fighting style for unconventional Monks who want to fulfill a mid-ranged role. It's said that a Monk named Dhalsim on the India Server popularized this skill by suggesting a build based on being able to use it with greatly decreased cooldown. This skill has an animation time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Wyvern Kick - Tier I SkillThe user takes to the sky by performing a high jump of up to 5 meters, then kicking down toward a target. Often, the monk will then perform another jump to maintain the height advantage. This skill is particularly taken by monks for its vaulting properties. This skill has an animation time of 2 seconds and a cooldown of 10 seconds. When performed while Manawyrm Stance is active, this skill deals 10% more damage and aggro. When performed while Nighthawk Stance is active, the Monk's maximum jump height is 10 meters and this skill's cooldown is reduced to 4 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Drunk Monkey - Tier I SkillA passive monk skill based on the Drunken Fist fighting technique. It is activated when the monk uses an alcohol-based drink made by a Brewer. While inhibition by alcohol would normally lower fighters' coordination, this skill causes a heightening of some of the monk's natural reflexes, raising their evasion rate and providing a small chance for the monk to passively dodge attacks entirely. Still, this status only lasts as long as the effect of the drink. So please drink responsibly. [attr="class","skill"]Marksmanship:Passive skill. The Hunter's bow damage passively increases by 10% to all monsters and an additional 10% to beast-type monsters. Additionally, if the Hunter's main class would normally penalize them from using bows, this skill allows them to use bows without penalty. [attr="class","skill"]Disassembly:Toggle skill. Mechanics have a certain affinity with taking apart machines, so monsters that are mechanical in nature had better watch out. Mechanics deal 20% more damage to Machine-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Machine-type monsters upon a successful hit.
