Ryuu was at the lobby of his guild house waiting for his girlfriend. Even after her moving into his room, they had yet to go on a real first date. He was wearing his yukata that he made for himself so that he could match with Kyuu when she had made one for her. Ryuu was a bit nervous. I mean, he had never been on a date, at least on a date with someone he loved so much. He paced around the room after she had kicked him out of his room so that she could get dressed and prep herself into whatever makeup she needed to. Why was he so nervous? It’s not like he hadn’t hung out with her before? What was so different about this time than before? Well, long story short, they were now boyfriend and girlfriend. They were now much more significant to each other than what they used to be. It had been quite a while since Ryuu was last on a date, and the last time he was on a date, his now girlfriend usually disapproved of his past prospects. I guess that was a good thing, or else he wouldn’t have such a relationship with her. “Manohmanohman….” he said, trying not to focus on what was about to happen. I mean, this man was a level 68 assassin, you’d think that he’d be able to go do something so considerably menial compared to fighting a field boss alone. NOPE! He’d rather go fight a field boss than deal with this nervousness, but as a boyfriend, he had to give her a legitimate date. The festival was being held in honor of the creators of the game, a Japanese festival. Ryuu had helped organize it as well as several Japanese players who were playing in this server. It had proven to be a difficult task to prepare, but the good thing was only the event organizers knew of him. All of the people working the booths did not know about his giving help in preparing for this festival. He may or may not have organized this event just for his girlfriend. He thought it’d be sweet for them to be together in a festival based on their roots. There would be plenty of things to do for the festival. Festival games, food, charms, those Japanese couples tradition and all of those fancy romantic things that they always did in Japan. And the last but not least, the dimming of all the lights in the city and then the fireworks that would explode and light the sky. Ryuu had the perfect place to take her before the fireworks started, but hopefully there wouldn’t be any complications in their plan today, but usually when Ryuu had an elaborate plan, it went through the crapper. Well… that was an understatement… Ryuu looked towards the door that his girlfriend would come out of, hopefully in the yukata he had made for her. Ryuu would wait anxiously and nervously for his girlfriend.

Sadist. A sadist invented the yukata, was what Caerbannog thought as she struggled to put on the thing manually. It wasn’t as easy to wear as her yukata armor, what with the length of the whole item and the size of the obi too. She could punch golems and ember newts to death, but she could not even put a yukata on properly? For shame! But time was running out and Kumori was waiting for her; granted, he did not pester her with messages and calls yet Kyuu was also considerate of her boyfriend’s time and patience, so she gave up on doing things that old-fashioned way and instead just equipped the damn clothing from her inventory. Hyzenthlay let out a soft ‘oooh’ when she saw her tamer in her current attire, and then a little bunny giggle escaped the rabbit’s lips and was muffled by her cute paws. Kyuu sat in front of the mirror for a while, focused on putting up her hair and all that. She did not like having to work on her appearance for a long time, but it was a proper first date with Ryuu, so it seemed, and the girl was not so selfish as to walk by his side while looking like a bum who just got out of her bed by the garbage bin. The samurai picked up a fluffy purple hair tie from the Station and thought that it would go well with anything, and so she used it along with a plain black tie to keep her long hair in place. She looked to her side where a cute purse thing sat. It was adorable but the girl questioned its practicality since they were in Elder Tale and things could just be stored in the inventory. The only reason that she agreed to use it was because Ryuu gave it to her along with the yukata. A question came to the girl’s mind just then, and she hoped that she would remember to ask the young man about it later. After a short while, the girl was all ready and prim and proper. She unsummoned Hyzenthlay after assuring the rabbit that all would go well, and then Kyuu headed towards the guild lobby. Ryuu didn’t say much about his plans and she did not bother to ask much about it. Unlike the young man though, the samurai was only slightly nervous and that was mostly because she last wore a yukata many years ago in the real world. Kyuu was not that confident about her appearance, having been used to wearing casual wear for about eighty percent of her life. The funny clogs on her feet did not help the situation at all and it made walking slightly difficult for her. The footwear did not hurt her feet but it was strange to walk around in them nonetheless, and so Kyuu took small, quick steps instead of her usual steady pace. The wolf-hair breathed in deeply and exhaled through puffed up cheeks before she pushed the door open. At first, she peeked to check if anyone else aside from Ryuu was outside the room. If she did not look nice at all, then girl would be utterly embarrassed if someone else saw her but if it was only her boyfriend there, then she would not have to worry so much. Kyuu was yet to understand the full implications of dating and such things; all she knew was that they were going somewhere and that she had to dress up for it. How was it different from those times in Germany when they went out to buy ice cream and watch movies? Aside from being called boyfriend and girlfriend now, she did not think it any different from how they were back then.“Do I look okay?” Kyuu’s bright blue eyes looked straight at Ryuu as she stood there in front of their room; the door closed behind her but she did not mind it, not feeling as nervous as other people who go on first dates. The dark blue yukata adorned with pretty pink cherry blossom patterns fit her perfectly. One would wonder how Ryuu created such a nice fit but that was for him to know and for no one else to ever find out. A darker pink obi secured her clothes in place, and her feet fit wooden clogs snuggly. Kyuu’s hair was done up neatly and kept in place by a black hair tie which was obscured from view by a bright purple hair tie with fluffy parts and ends. She clung securely to the half-woven, half-tailored purse that her boyfriend had given to her as she waited for a reply. Once that was done and over with, Kyuu walked over to Ryuu’s side and held onto his sleeve like a child who held onto her brother.“What do people do on dates?” was her honest question, and one that popped up in her head earlier while she was putting her yukata on and when she questioned the practicality of using a purse. The blue-eyed one looked up at Ryuu, and only then noticed the difference in their height; something that made her blush slightly, for it was just then that she started to realize that he was no longer the Ryuunosuke whom she knew as her brother. The hand that held onto her purse gripped it tightly once Kyuu realized that her face was flushed red for some weird reason.

The assassin still paced around the hall even more. He couldn’t just barge into his room and demand her to hurry, no, good things came with patience, and this is why he was okay with waiting an eternity for her to be ready. While his anxiousness was there, he knew that the longer he waited, the more satisfied he would be in the end. After about a total of 20 minutes, the door behind him opened and closed. He was a bit nervous, not wanting to turn around for a few seconds. She then asked if she looked okay. Ryuu responded by turning around. As his eyes engulfed the samurai in the yukata that he had made for her and the purse he had given to her as well, Ryuu gasped in amazement. His eyes sparkled and his mouth wide open from the beauty that had just stepped out of his room. “かわいい~” he said to her. He was so bedazzled that he couldn’t stop staring at her and how beautiful she was. He was so used to seeing her dressed casually that he almost forgot how amazing she looked when she put her mind to it and dressed up. “You’re my girlfriend?” he asked rhetorically. He smiled widely and then went closer towards her. “You’re my girlfriend…” he said reassuringly. She held onto his sleeve like a sister would normally do to an older brother. He was confused, but it was probably because she was used to the old them. She then asked an interesting question. She asked what people did on dates, and so Ryuu looked over at her and then turned her head towards his. He leaned forward and kissed her on the lips before she could react to him positioning her for it. After 10 seconds of kissing, he stopped and moved his head back and smiled at the samurai. “That’s what people usually do on dates… and this since this is a festival… we’ll be doing the typical love charms and stuff… things I’m sure you’ve always wanted to do,” he winked. He then moved her hand and slid it under his arm and then wrapped his forearm against hers and held her hand. “We’re boyfriend and girlfriend now… I want to hold your hand from now on,” he said. He then began to walk slowly towards the exit of the guild house as they went towards the marketplace where they had converted it into the festival for Tanabata. It was quite coincidental that it fit so well with their date. Tanabata was about a couple who were first fell in love and then married soon after. After a short while, they neglected their duties that they once had and the father of the princess separated them and forbade them to meet ever again. They would be allowed to meet once a year, and while he sincerely hoped this would not be the case, the assassin still loved the story and thought it fitting to be romantic with his girlfriend. The fireworks he had prepared for at the end would close out the night, and they would be able to watch them together in a place that few knew of. He wasn’t sure if she had been to Matsuri’s before. Her visits to Japan, if ever, were usually short, and weren’t usually at the right times for festivals. Because of this, it was likely why she could only read in manga and watch in animes what it really was to be in a matsuri, but with the help of his fellow Japanese brethren, they were able to create a recreation of the Tanabata festival which included all the streamers and all of the paper decorations that were included into the festival. The first activity Ryuu decided that they should do was typical of new and aspiring couples. Ryuu walked with Kyuu towards the most important and pinnacle activity of the Tanabata Festival, and that was making wishes on pieces of paper called tanzaku and bamboo. Ryuu sat on his knees and then had Kyuu do the same. Ryuu grabbed a piece of paper and a brush pen for Kyuu and then grabbed his own set to write on. “私たちの愛は永遠であるとする。” was what he wrote. In English, it said: “Let our love be forever.” He waited for Kyuu to write her wish and then he would help her up so that they could make their way towards the river to set the tanzakus to float down the river so that they could be sent to heaven the following day. After they finished the activity, Ryuu smiled at Kyuu. “So, what’d you wish for?” he asked her.

Was it possible to like something while hating it at the same time? That was how the samurai felt about the sudden kisses. Her thought process always went from ‘what?’ followed by the urge to punch the assassin, but as the kiss went on her heartbeat would mellow down to a lovely rhythm and her mind would flicker away due to the warmth of the kiss- and then he would pull away, at which point she’d think it such a shame that a lovely thing had to end. But those were just words and thoughts in Kyuu’s head, things that she would never tell anyone.
What could be seen was the surprised expression on her face, and the bright red glow of her cheeks after each moment of intimacy. So that was what people do on dates?! Caerbannog wanted to run away already, but Kumori took her hand and held it tightly so that she could not run away. That was a ploy, wasn’t it? It was his scheme all along, so that she would have to deal with such embarrassing situations and- what was she thinking of again? Kyuu lost her train of thought when they arrived at the marketplace. For a moment, the girl stopped on her tracks and cooed in awe at the sight.
It was like a dream within a dream; a fantasy within Elder Tale. Something that she never thought she would see again after she was trapped in her new reality, a Japanese festival in a European city. When Kyuu was much younger, she’d only ever been to a matsuri that one time. It was also the only instance when she ever wore a yukata; it was light blue and, according to her uncle, was worn by her mother in her younger days when she was just a simple child with no material want or attachment. She did not realize how much she missed Japan and her relatives there, not until that moment. Only then did the samurai think back to all her days in Elder Tale, how although she missed her father and was worried about him, Kyuu never felt homesick. Perhaps a bit too proud or too embarrassed to admit it, she knew that the answer was right beside her, the person who tightly held her hand.
The couple walked on and as they did, Kyuu had to turn to the side a few times for eyes remained on all the pretty things that they passed. And so when they arrived at the first activity that Ryuu wanted to do, the blue-eyed samurai was a bit confused and had to pause for a moment to fully understand what was going on and what the young man wanted to do. She thought back on what she knew about festivals and about Tanabata in particular, and remembered what the activity was about when Ryuu took the lead and began to write his wish on the piece of paper. The girl stared at her piece for a while, and then she decided to write 「レベル100!」on the tanzaku which was then sent down the river.
“Hmm?” Kyuu squinted at Ryuu when he asked what she wished for, and thought him rather nosy but she answered the question anyway, “Get Level 100!”
The samurai beamed proudly as she answered the question; quite an unromantic wish perhaps, but she neglected to say that she added the word ‘Together’ in English at the beneath the Japanese text that she wrote. That was for her to know, and for the gods of Elder Tale to read, and for Ryuu to never find out ever. That aside, the girl remembered some of the best memories that she had of that one matsuri that she went to as a child.
“Ryuu-nii!” she said, a habit that she probably had to drop some time soon, “Zuckerwatte onegaishimasu!”

Her mixture of German and Japanese had caught him off-guard. He was a bit disappointed that she was still calling him “Ryuu-nii” but old habits die hard he supposed. He had to think for a second before he understood what she wanted. His mind was not ready when she had initially asked for it because he was thinking in English and Japanese. He rarely thought in German nowadays, but finally, after a few seconds of realizing she had switched to her native tongue, Ryuu understood. He held her had tightly but gently so that she wouldn’t be physically uncomfortable. He knew that she’d probably be emotionally uncomfortable as she had never gone to such a public event in such a fashion, that is to say, she never went to a big party with a boyfriend holding her hand pretty much the entire time. He had brought her over to the various food stalls that had been set up for the event. He smiled at her as he offered the vendor a few coins and was given the cotton candy that she so desired. The samurai always had a sweet tooth, this he had known from experience when she always had a craving for candy. He chuckled softly at the samurai whose face had happiness written all over it after she took her first bite from the cotton candy. After getting the cotton candy from the vendor, he held her hand that was unoccupied by the cotton candy and led her to another vendor where he bought some takoyaki. He liked octopus, which is why he wanted to come here so that they could have some. The chefs here had put in some extra training so that they could make these delicious festival foods and snacks. He bought an order of takoyaki. While he didn’t care for the cotton candy, he wasn’t sure if Kyuu would force him to eat it. Well, regardless, he’d eat it if forced, and then he would feed Kyuu a takoyaki as well. Well, he’d place it in front of her mouth and then waited for her to eat it before moving the elongated toothpick (I think skewer pick would be the correct word) away from her mouth and poking it through another piece of takoyaki and eating it himself. He offered another one to her, and if she accepted, he would feed her another, until all of the takoyaki were gone. After having their fill of the several different festival foods like yakisoba, okonomiyaki, and yakitori, they had finished their dinner. Obviously, Ryuu was inclined to pay for everything, and unless the samurai decided that she wanted to pay for something (and Ryuu would put up a fight if she wanted to pay for something, but would ultimately lose because it was Kyuu and she would pout if she didn’t get what she wanted sometimes) he would do so. After thirty minutes of eating the various foods, Ryuu then brought her to another booth. This time, they would be making origami. The main attractions for Tanabata was making paper cranes, so Ryuu would grab a huge piece of origami paper and placed it in front of the samurai and then he would grab his own. He would start on his own, but Ryuu was never good at these type of crafts. Rather, he really sucked at it, and while he was concentrating hard on the piece of paper, trying to follow the instructions of making the paper crane, he couldn’t. He sighed softly as to not inform his girlfriend that he was getting fed up with it, but he was doing a terrible job at keeping it away from her. His sadness and frustration was being felt through everywhere, even the heat he was radiating from his body. He shook his head and then looked towards the samurai to see how her progress was. No doubt it’d be further along than his. Kyuu was usually a lot better at these things than he was, and so it wouldn’t be surprising if she was already finished while Ryuu was still struggling to make the first few folds correctly.

The blue-eyed girl excitedly waited for Ryuu to lead her to the food stalls. She would have ran off by herself if not for the fact that the young man held her hand tightly, something that she was still not accustomed to. Then again, as far as she remembered, Ryuu had gone on dates before and knew what to do, so she wasn’t one to tell him what to do. And she wasn’t about to ask him again about what she should do for the girl was not keen on having to kiss the young man in such a place if ever he decided to respond in much the same manner that he did earlier.
Fairy floss, candy floss, or cotton candy: it was a staple of festivals all over the world, and Kyuu expected for the current festival to have those sweets in stock too. She was not disappointed for soon enough, Ryuu brought her over to just the right place and gave her some of the fluffy pink threads of sugar. As for the assassin, he got some takoyaki which he soon offered to the samurai who only accepted one piece. She wanted more sweet things and did not really like savory stuff that festivals offered, except maybe dried squid but she saw none of those. Initially, she tried to share some of her cotton candy with Ryuu but he did not seem to enjoy it so hey, more for her!
As for the next few snacks, Kyuu only ate a little for having a lot of sweets already made her feel full. She was not keen on letting Ryuu pay for so much but she thought that maybe it was a date thing too. The samurai did frown at her boyfriend every time he got her something else for she was not used to getting spoiled so much in one day, but still she accepted them since she did not want to seem rude. By the time that they moved on to the origami activity, Kyuu was visibly relieved for she could not eat a single bite and was rather annoyed that the assassin forgot that she was much smaller than he was and so she could not eat as much as he did.
When they began the activity, the wolf-hair picked an assortment of papers ranging from blue to pink and then purple. Paper folding was something that she did as a child and she did not forget about it even as she grew up. Each step was done with precision and was rather easy for her with the proper amount of attention on what she was doing. To Kyuu, it was a simple task that required some logic and imagination, and she smiled as she thought back to the time when she finished a thousand-crane challenge with her cousins. After that they each made a wish for her uncles and aunts said that creating a thousand cranes will make their wishes come true. At first she thought of relating the story to Ryuu, but then she noticed how frustrated the young man was with what he was doing. She inched closer to him and noticed that he folded his piece of paper incorrectly way too many times, and so that made it difficult for the crane to properly take form.
“When you make too many mistakes,” Kyuu said without looking at Ryuu as she took his sorry-looking half-done crane, “Just take a new sheet and start all over.”
The samurai placed one of her folding papers in front of the young man and she placed another piece in front of her. She then slowly folded her paper and waited for him to do the same, and if he couldn’t align the edges correctly she would hold his hand and guide them to do it properly. Each fold had to be exact so as to keep the texture and firmness of the folding paper, and each measurement between folds ought to be careful. But with patience and practice, one could do it easily and quickly too, much like how the young Kyuu was able to create so many paper cranes with her cousins.
“I made a thousand of these with my relatives when I was a child,” the girl told her story as she continued to help Ryuu along with his paper folding, “And then I made a wish… I wished for a happy family.”
She then realized how childish that was, but then again she indeed was a child at that time. And so Kyuu laughed, but it was a sad, empty one.
“Heh…obviously, it didn’t come true,” she sighed.

He sighed as Kyuu told him to start over. He knew he was clumsy at it. Deft hands as a tailor? Yeah right… He threw the paper that he messed up on after he crumpled it and threw it into a trash can and taking another piece. “I know, I know… I suck at this…” he sighed as he began folding the paper again, this time concentrating as hard as possible. His mind and eyes focused upon the paper and each fold that he was making with the piece of paper. After minutes through fumbling with it and making folds and making sure each crease and fold was aligned perfectly to how he wanted, he had finished. He hadn’t even noticed he had finished, as it took him a few seconds to realize. His eyes opened and then he looked to the left and then the right and then smiled widely. “YATA!” he exclaimed as he hugged his girlfriend beside him. “I did it! I DID IT!” he kissed the girl on her cheek and then went to make another one. After he was able to do so, he listened to the girl who told her story about her paper cranes and making 1000 of them. He smiled at her wish and he faced her and reached over with his right hand to turn her head towards his. “Then let’s make a happy family together,” he said to her while looking into her eyes, “and to commemorate… let’s make 1000 cranes tonight.” Ryuu would then let go of her chin and then go back to making the crane. He couldn’t overuse the kiss, or she’d get used to it. He had to use it at certain times to make her blush and to make her smile. He intentionally did not kiss her, to make her long for his lips, to make her long for the touch that did not come. It made every single kiss ever sweeter, for both him and her. He hoped that his idea did not backfire, but it did sometimes, especially since this was Kyuu he was talking about. He took another paper and began making another crane, and another, until finally they had made a jar full. It was about a hundred cranes made by the both of them in total. He took the jar and placed it in a bag that they had bought from the vendor. The vendor smiled and bowed, as if like the Japanese tradition, and the assassin helped the samurai up. The next stop was to play with some fireworks before all of the lights were to be turned off so that they could watch the sky. The fireworks were to be the climax of the festival, but the real finale was the stars. To be able to watch the stars on a dark knight cuddled with your beloved, that was the dream. Ryuu was excited for the day to unfold, but for now, he would have to hold in the anticipation for it with the fun they would have with the fireworks. Ryuu went to the fireworks vendor and went to buy some handheld fireworks that Ryuu and Kyuu could play with together. He bought a box of matches that would allow them to light them and then he led Kyuu to an open field where they could play with the several sparklers that he bought and a few Roman Candles. This was all before the huge fireworks show that he had set up. After playing with the bright lights and their supply had dwindled to nothing, Ryuu pointed towards the sky. At first it was empty, nothing to see, but then after a few minutes of waiting, the first sign of a firework shot out from a tent. Boom! Pakkk The fireworks flew high and lit the darkened sky with its wonder and several sparks of light. Ryuu smiled as he held the hand of Kyuu and took in the sight. He would’ve hoped that someone would have been able to take a picture of them like this, watching the fireworks together, but Ryuu simply enjoyed the time they had together. He loved Kyuu so much, he loved her that he didn’t want to let her go. This day was becoming the best day of his life. He was happy, and he was hoping that Kyuu was happy as well, albeit blushing and embarrassed. He didn’t mind spoiling the girl, especially if she was his beloved. Ryuu enjoyed it more than anything. Ryuu slowly turned his head towards Kyuu to see what her expression was like. Was she happy? Was she sad? Ryuu wanted to know to see if he made this date right.

Though it was just a simple task for Kyuu, something that she could easily do even when she was a child, obviously that was not the case for Ryuu. At first he did not seem too interested with paper folding probably due to his lack of practice, but once the young man was able to figure out how to perform the art properly, he seemed even more enthusiastic about folding paper cranes compared to the samurai. As for the words and actions with which Ryuu replied when the wolf-hair lamented her unfulfilled wish, the girl responded with a surprised look, her blue eyes fixated on the windows to the assassin’s soul for such close proximity usually led to something embarrassing for her. But for a change, he merely spoke to her and soon turned back to their activity, much to the samurai’s relief. Her face had turned a beet red once again but she managed to prevent a smile or a frown from forming, merely a rather unnatural deadpan expression crept across her face.
Without another word from the dark haired wolf-hair, the couple continued their paper folding until a hundred cranes were created. Supposedly, a thousand would fulfill a wish, but then after what Ryuu said, the samurai had considered the life that she led in Elder Tale so far. A strange little family, that was how they were though in the past both looked to the other as a sibling; the change in the relation still confused Kyuu a bit yet as long as it was with Ryuu, she knew that everything would turn out just fine. Hyzenthlay had even accepted the relationship and vowed that she would avoid wrecking the young man’s face, though she made no promises to defend him or fight by his side unless her tamer told her to.
After that activity was finished, Ryuu bought some things from the vendors on the way to an open area. When Kyuu realized what they were supposed to do, her eyes widened for a moment but she took the sparklers which were handed to her nonetheless. Seeing firecrackers and the like so close to her had always unnerved the girl, but when she visited Japan, she learned to hide that apprehension so as not to ruin everyone else’s fun. She was not afraid of the things but she did flinch every time they sputtered and hiccupped in her hand. Fireworks were a different thing altogether though, for she could observe them from afar. And indeed, both things were a beauty to behold but Kyuu preferred to stay afar.
So when the couple turned to look up at the sky, her hands felt a bit clammy due to nervousness and she almost pulled away when Ryuu held onto it. But that would have been rude. And so Kyuu held her boyfriend’s hand tightly and would just answer any questions that came her way. After a while, her mind drifted away from her anxiousness though and she just stared up at the dark sky which was soon illuminated by fireworks of various displays and colors. She held onto Ryuu’s hand firmly and placed her fingers between his so that their hands clasped tightly, as if she’d never let him go. Even though she was staring up at the colorful fireworks, Kyuu soon noticed that someone’s eyes were on her... a stalker? Nah, it was just Ryuu.
“Doushita?” the blue-eyed adventurer asked her boyfriend as she glanced up at him after having realized that his eyes were on her.

Ryuu noticed that as the sparks began to fly and spout in her hands, she had jumped slightly. She attempted to hide her dismay and discomfort from him, but Ryuu knew better. If anything, he would be the only one who knew this about her, as he had known her for so long, every intricacies of her actions were easily deciphered by the young man, once her ‘brother’ and now her boyfriend. After the first sparkler went out, Ryuu decided to just light them himself and allowed her to enjoy the little light show he was making for himself, shooting off the Roman Candles away from them so that she could see the streams of lights that the hand-held fireworks were making. After he did so, Ryuu looked at the samurai girl and patted her head and smiled. “Daijobu,” he said. He took one of the sparklers he had left and placed them in the hands of the girl and lit it. He was behind her and put his hands against hers and held them tightly, but gently. He was attempting to give her a sense of security, that he was right there should the sparkler go rogue and start spewing fire. He hoped this would cause her to stop flinching, but such things would take time and all he could do was give her as much encouragement as possible. After the last sparkler flickered out, Ryuu pointed up towards the sky and the fireworks ensued soon after. After she was watching the fireworks burst, her anxiousness had seemed to disappear as her fingers began to move in between his own. It was a symbol of more the nervousness edging away and the girl becoming more comfortable with their new relationship. She then looked around trying to look for the person who was looking at her. She finally rested her eyes on his own and he smiled at her. “Nani mo…” he replied. As the fireworks began to burst above them, Ryuu moved his head forward towards her lips. This time, this was the right moment. While everyone was fixated on the exploding balls of fire, Ryuu and Kyuu were focused on each other. “Me-o shimete, he said softly to her as his mouth got closer to hers. After he saw that her eyes were closed, Ryuu would lean even further towards her mouth and his lips would touch her own. His eyes were closed as well, and the booms and bangs grew louder above them, but he didn’t care. He was about to have the most extraordinary moment of his life, and he was sharing it with the person he loved the most…. Kyuu Schwarz. Ryuu passionately kissed the samurai until the fireworks ended, his eyes remained closed and his focus remained on his girlfriend’s warmth, his girlfriend’s soft lips, her sweet smell, her abrupt and short breaths. After the fireworks stopped, Ryuu pulled away and opened his eyes and put his forehead against hers. “I promise… I promise that this will be the start of our family… Shinjite,” he said to her, “I’ll keep you safe.”The assassin then led her to the next area, holding her hand, their fingers entangled with each other, their comfort level beginning to rise, and their relationship blossoming as every second passed by. The assassin was happy with the day so far, and the finale was the perfect ending to the date. Ryuu led her to the highest point of Londinium with no obstructions to the sky. The highest point of the tallest ruined building that was sturdy enough to walk up and into. The place was closed by his request, and the event starters respected it. The sorcerers had cast some type of wind magic to make sure that the weather was clear. Ryuu took off his shoes and then removed the clogs from Kyuu’s feet before sitting at the edge of the building with her. He had placed the shoes and clogs to the side so that they wouldn’t fall off the edge. Ryuu pointed up towards the area where they were supposed to watch the stars meet together. It was entire point of the festival, and they were given the best spot of all. The moon was shining brightly, but it did not stop the stars from shining through. He was happy to be here with her, as he kept a hold of his girlfriend’s hand. “Suteki da ne?” he asked her. The sky that was littered with several stars that twinkled and the occasional shooting star where Ryuu made a silent wish as per tradition. Ryuu then let go of her hand as he wrapped his left hand around her left waist as he scooted closer to her and then held her right hand with his own right hand. His left hand rested upon her navel and their right hands rested on both of their thighs. He leaned her in closer to him to provide warmth and protection to her, a sense of closeness and a sense mental security. Ryuu. “Kyuu… aishiteruyo…itsumademo issho ni itai” he said as he rested his head on top of her own. He then waited for a reply and continued to watch the night sky with her.

She’d been a child for so long, a spoiled child, naïve and dense to a fault. Sheltered by her father, sheltered by Ryuunosuke. When Kyuu stepped into Elder Tale, she tried so hard to prove that she was no longer a child by showing that she was capable of taking care of herself. And true enough, she achieved it, a level higher than anyone else’s. A level higher even compared to Ryuu who’d been the one to guide her in her starting days. But while she grew stronger as an adventurer, she remained a child at heart and was rather gullible at times, rather too submissive or giving to those around her.
So with a child-like demeanor and curiosity, she accepted the young man’s offer of love. At first, Kyuu did not understand the purpose of the intimate gestures, or the reason for having to go out on a date. But as the minutes passed and the night moved on, with each smile and touch and word between them, the blue-eyed adventurer was filled with gentle, calm and loving thoughts. If those who knew them could see them at that moment, beneath the sky which was filled with stars and fireworks, and as Ryuu moved his lips closer to Kyuu;s, one would probably think that maybe- just maybe, the Beast had indeed been tamed.
With her eyes closed willingly and the kiss given from him to her, Kyuu felt as if they were alone in the middle of a crowd. The noise was drowned out by the sound of her own heartbeat that had a soothing melody unlike what she’d felt or heard before. It was different from the excitement of the battlefield or the thrill of finding extraordinary loot. Like everything in Elder Tale that had become reality, this part of her life was also no longer a game. There were no save points or flags, no multiple paths to take or checks to be done; it was a love between two who’d known each other for a long time first as friends, and in their naivety thought that their love was that of siblings. Until finally, one accepted that there was something more and he patiently showed his younger half what it meant to feel a romantic kind of love.
Kyuu opened her eyes when the assassin pulled away, yet for a moment, his forehead rested against hers. He spoke of a promise about something that she had lost once before, and had only been starting to rebuild yet had to leave unwilling due to the Catastrophe. But in her heart, the girl knew that she and her father were a family forever, bound by blood which could not be erased by any accident of nature or law of man. And that it was time to accept a different kind of family, one that she could actually choose to create, one that she was not born to. The samurai merely smiled at her lover’s words, and she nodded silently, as befitting her personality.
The trip to the highest point was slightly tiring to Kyuu, who even in all her eighty-one levels was still unused to walking around in that kind of footwear. But few good things could be attained without effort and this was definitely not one of them; then again, the enjoyment of finding something so beautiful at the end of a journey was always well worth the effort. She sat down as Ryuu led her to the edge of the building, and fortunately Kyuu did not have a fear of heights otherwise the young man’s plans would have backfired. Any other day, she would have been apprehensive of his leading her to do things or when he held her too closely, but between the lovely sky above and the happy festivities below, Kyuu had forgotten her usual “I do what I want!” Instead, she held Ryuu’s hand as he held hers, and she watched the star-crossed lovers on the sky above as they savored their reunion for that one night. With a river between them that was more like an ocean, the two had to endure being apart for so long, but they knew that such a day would come when they could triumph against that obstacle and walk hand in hand.
For most of the night especially after the fireworks display, the wolf-hair had remained quiet. She was speechless, partially due to knowing next to nothing about dating; but more than that, Ryuu was able to say everything that she wanted to say. It was as if he knew what she was thinking or even what she was feeling, and looking back to their days in the real world and even in Elder Tale, the young man had never done her wrong or led her astray. And so she knew that he could trust him; she could entrust to him her hand and her heart. Her eyes still looked up to the sky as she watched the shining lovers cross the great river, and when the young man spoke, his girlfriend had a simple reply- a confirmation that his wish was her wish as well.
“Zutto issho.”
