“NO! NO! NO! NO! NONONONO! NO! NO! NOOOO!” Ryker shouted as he ran… or well… chased… a rolling log he had just recently purchased. It was rolling at the speed of light! Not really, but it was rolling faster than Ryker was running and that was all that mattered. Even as the fox tail churned his legs with all of his might, the dastardly piece of chopped up nature eluded him and it had done so quite easily at that. One slip up by Ryker and now the damned thing was fleeing.

Ryker shook his fist at the object as it attempted to break out of prison and kept running, following the log’s path as it rolled away down the massive hill. It crushed flowers, grass, and probably a few bugs in its trip but they were the least of Ryker’s worries. His worry was a stray adventurer wandering into the path of the log. Thankfully, there were none around as far as he could see. If someone did walk out in front of the rolling object, they were sure to be struck fairly viciously, and there would be no doubt that the criminal hitting them would get away smoothly and without missing a beat in its violent trip down the highway. Hell, now it just needed some flames and Ryker could call it a demon.

“WHY ME?!” Ryker shouted loudly as the log started to escape his vision only to reappear a few seconds later as it started rolling up another hill. Yes! It was slowing! Perfect! YES! HE WOULD CATCH! OH YES!

“THANK YOU LORD!” Ryker shouted as he saw the log start to slow due to the natural brake, so without a second thought he ran off the first hill and immediately up the second. The sadness and exhaustion from running after the log with away and was replaced with joy as he realized he would be able to retrieve his precious material. Yes, now he could continue with his boat! All he needed to do was recover the log once it stopped… rolling… away… oh god wait a minute.

“No…” Ryker said as a sudden realization crossed his mind. The log was slowing, but it was a good distance away, and the hill was still steep…

“No No No….” Ryker started to slow his forward running and eyed the log warily as it started to stop as well. For a moment, all was quiet… But only a moment as the log started rolling backwards; at Ryker.

“NO NO NO! NO! NO! NO!” Immediately, Ryker turned tail and started to run away from the log as the tides had obviously turned. The Cleric ran as fast as he could but unlike the log; his forward motion was limited by muscular movement. And so, just as he reached the bottom of the hill…

SMACK

The log smashed into the back of the Cleric’s legs and caused him to collapsed. Ryker’s face filled with distress as he was suddenly slammed onto the ground and run over by the heavy object. Pain was an understatement, but at least the log had stopped.

It wasn't often that Nala was able to get out and about without anyone the wiser. There would either be a flight of stairs she would trip on, a creeky board that would give her away, maybe even a stray cat outside the window that would meow so loudly it woke the whole building! ... Okay, that last one never really happened, but knowing her luck it just might one day. Today was different though, she had escaped without a soul knowing where she was or when she had run off. It was the perfect day to relax.

Oooor, casually get lost in Greatwood. This was how she got around though, getting lost, it made for a great story when she would find her own way back home again. Hopefully Metro would enjoy her tales just as much as her brothers did.

Grinning to herself, she came up short at the sound of someone... denying something? Pretty darn strongly in fact. Normal people probably know better than to go away from strange sounds and voices, but she had no other real destination anyway so headed on to see what all the fuss was about. And what she found- was what looked like a small boy just run over by a log! Covering a hand over mouth to muffle a yelp, Nala ran over to where he laid on the ground. "Are you alright!?" Stupid question of the year, "I mean, you just got steam rolled by a tree b-but... oooh, you poor thing!" She couldn't help it, he was so adorable, she wrapped her arms around him to pull him up into a hug. "Why were you playing with a log anyway??" As far as she knew, she was babying a little kid.

Ryker lay there on the ground motionless simply because of the pain. It hurt so much, all ove—Who the hell was he kidding? He couldn’t move. The damned log hit him so hard and so badly that he physically could not move from where he was now laying. He wanted to move but he actually couldn’t. It wasn’t the pain that he felt in his face or his ribs or his arms or his legs. No. He was freaking paralyzed. The log hit him so hard it had incapacitated him and now he was lying there on his face like a moron. There was no excuse or no other explanation and no, I won’t let Ryker make one up. He was on his face in pain and it hurt. All over. Like hell.

It hurt so much that Ryker would have rather been killed by the log but that wasn’t a thing. Instead he was left to suffer as the log came to a satisfied halt just a few meters away from where he was stuck. The Cleric didn’t care though. He simply lay there, on his face, quietly coming to terms with what had just happened to him. He had been gathering logs from the surrounding area and had purchased some planks from a woodsman earlier but just after getting his stuff together, one log decided it was going for a trip. Now Ryker was in the dirt because the log wanted to have some fun. Great. Fantastic. Way to suck bro. What was even worse was that now he heard footsteps. Great. Fantastic. Way to suck bro. You were seen.

“Great…” Ryker mumbled to himself as he tried to move his arms. They tingled with pain and remained still no matter how much he tried to move them. Were they broken? Please don’t be broken. Oh, great, now he was being yelled at. Oh, great, he was being yelled at by a woman. Ryker had been seen getting splattered by a person of the opposite gender. Fantastic. Way to suck bro. Totally helps his dating game, doesn’t it? Oh, lovely.

He lifted his head a little in an attempt to see who was coming but it was a futile attempt. It wasn’t that he couldn’t lift his head, no not this time, it was because she was already grabbing at him. The small, soft, warm hands and arms latched onto Ryker as the distressed witness embraced the fallen idiot. Pain surged through Ryker’s body and he immediately began to tremble fiercely at even being touched. When the woman pulled him off the ground, the pain escalated and the man released a surprised yelp. WHY WOULD YOU TOUCH HI—Soft. Squish. Oh god it was the holy land!

Yes, the holy land of a woman’s bosom. That’s the next place Ryker fell into. No more hard ground. No more dirt. No more pain. It was soft, warm, loving, and smelled beautiful. Oh god it was like a cure for every disease Ryker could ever think of and the woman had practically shoved him into it. Oh yes. Fantastic. Great. Way to go bro. Oh but he still hurt so maybe it wasn’t as perfect as he had hoped. Whatever, it was soothing and he was comfortable. Dying still hurt though.

“Kind of… wasn’t playing…” Ryker groaned and released a slow, heavy breath as his ribs crackled a little. Oh that felt both nice and painful at the same time.

“It got away from me and I needed it. So I chased it.” Part of him felt as if he was confessing something spectacularly ridiculous to a doctor or something, but that was the truth. He needed that log.

“Needed it for a boat. Material is expensive. But building the boat may be out of the question now.” Oh yes, that is probably true as well. He hurt way to much at the moment to even consider moving let alone building a boat. He would die just trying to move the log if he attempted to lift it. Well done, Genius. You have effectively ruined your day in thirty seconds.

Running her hand over the 'kids' white hair like her mother use to do for her when she was having a bad day, Nala tried to comfort him as best she could, not realizing she was doing more harm than good by hugging him. Hearing him say that he had been chasing the log down though, it still made it sound like he had been playing with it to her- just a little bit. Now, the only trouble there was besides some soreness and possible bruising was a ruined day; and those could be mended easily enough.

Pulling away just enough to smile at the boy, Nala wasn't about to let down a future pirate's dream of adventure be put off just because of some log refusing to know its place. "Don't be so quick to give it up so soon, I'll help you build the boat!" Holding up one finger she winked at him before going on, "On one condition. You have to let me be the first passenger on it! Deal?" Tail thumping against the ground softly, pirates weren't the only ones who enjoyed a good adventure. Shoot, just getting lost for the day was an adventure in itself for the klutzy little Fox-Tail, getting to sail on an actual boat- even if it was just a raft or something simple- would make her day all over again. Although, if she knew she would be going out to sea, she probably would have dressed better for the occaision, favoring shorts and loose shirt over her sundress.

Sleep was something Ryker felt like he needed to recover, but he fought it like a rabid dog. His eyes blinked hard as he forced them to remain open even as he quivered in pain and he continued to force his body to breathe regularly. Slowing his breathing and closing his eyes would cause him to relax. Doing that would turn out the lights. What wasn’t helping his fighting was probably the most comforting motion ever; he was being petted. The Foxtail’s ears laid back as he felt the woman’s hand rub through his hair and his tail wiggled a little beneath his rob. It was trapped there so moving the thing hurt a little, but the slight shocks of pain aided in keeping him away. No, not really. It hurt like hell.

Thankfully the rubbing didn’t last long and Ryker was freed from the tender hand of the woman on his body. Yet he would have preferred that over her proposition; she wanted to help him build the boat now. Oh fantastic. The potential for him to end up hurting someone else was now there and what made things even better was that he didn’t even want to move. The boat was the least of his priorities at the moment. HOWEVER… The woman was quite lovely to look at. Seeing her on his boat would be a fine sight, plus she seemed quite ready to help him. By himself the boat could take a while so having an extra set of hands around could cut that time down a little.

“Sounds like a good deal to me.” Ryker groaned and carefully rolled himself away from the woman and onto his hands and knees. Pain filled him again but this time it didn’t last. The Cleric cast Healing Light on himself and forced his body’s regeneration process to hurry the hell up. Within seconds, he was able to return to his feet. Rather than immediately start moving, Ryker twisted his torso to the right and left and then bent backwards, cracking his back in a few places. After the quick assessment of his spinal column, Ryker cracked his neck, shoulders, and shook the lead out of his legs.

“If you’re really interested than you came at the best time.” A chuckle escaped Ryker’s lips as he extended a hand towards the woman beside him. For one, if she hadn’t come he probably would have lay on his face for a little while longer until eventually deciding to get up, or until something came and tried to kill him. For two…

“I’ve already gathered much of the materials so all I have to do now is visit a blacksmith for some metal pieces. Do you know of any that might be willing to help?” Ryker knew of a blacksmith himself and had heard of another, but if this woman knew of a friend than maybe he could earn another acquaintance today. Maybe, just maybe. He needed all the contacts he could get.

“Oh, my name is Ryker by the way. Pleasure to meet you, Miss.” The thought of his name almost slipped his mind, but Ryker quickly picked it up and bowed his head as he introduced himself. The woman seemed kind enough so hopefully she wouldn’t gut him like a fish.

"Great-!" Bringing a hand up to shield her from the white light, Nala soon looked back to find the boy had was soon able to stand on his own two feet easily enough. As happy as she was that she had managed to seal the deal, she still flinched at the multiple cracking sounds that came from him after he agreed and stood. Next to nails on a chalkboard, that was probably one of the more painfully gross sounds to her ears. Still, she gave an unconvincing smile through the ew, for some people crackling was just what made them feel better.

She hesitated just a second on taking the boy's hand simply because she wasn't sure if he would suddenly crack something again or not. Feeling safe enough, she took it and thanked her adventurous nature for bringing her here at just the right moment. She shook her head at his question about knowing a blacksmith though. That was probably one of the few professions that her brothers didn't have in their collective group; Tailoring, Farming, Mechanic, and her own Cooking, sure, but sadly not Blacksmithing. Thinking back to the man Metro brought her two she went ahead and mentioned, "I might know an unwilling one, but that's not exactly helpful."

Taken off-guard slightly by the bowing, she took a second to just look at him for a little while. It was absolutely adorable how polite he was for someone so young! Should couldn't help but think that he might be an only child, or perhaps from a rich family to know such manners already. Either way, she felt a little bit more than awkward speaking to someone while they head was bowed to her. To fix this, she bent over sideways to look at the kid named Ryker while he bowed, smiling up at him with the new angle, "It's a pleasure to meet you Ryker, I'm Nala. You don't have to be so formal though, I promise I don't bite!" Unless it came to her family, she'd bite their heads off if they started acting all rude and crazy.
