Finding somewhere to find a place to work on his Scribe subclass skills is very hard. He tried to check at St. Pancras Station, which he heard that it is used for crafting, but he realized most of the workshops are too loud. He tried some libraries, but he felt that it was too creepy, which he left but not before he grabbed a book of recipes he found. He even try to craft on the bench in the city, but the crowd is too loud. He likes the crowd, but not very loud and noisy. He then decided to return to the inn instead. But before he do, he decided to buy some materials for his subclass. After returning to his room in the inn, he puts his newly bought materials on the table before lying down in exhaustion.
"Oh man. In times like this, I wished I have my bedroom back." He knew his rented room is like his bedroom, but the first reason, it doesn't have the same feel as his old bedroom before his parents passed away. And the second reason, he felt he can't pay the inn any longer. After a few minutes, he stood up and looked out of the window, still having daylight, but not for long. According to his timer on his interface, it's almost 6 o'clock PM. Maybe it's time for him to starting crafting. He then sat on the chair near the desk and starts thinking on what he will make first as he reads the book of recipes for Scribe subclass earlier at the library. "Okay, I should start out with Parchment Paper first. This Old Paper might not help me with some future crafts. After that, I'll do Quill Pen and Magic Ink later. Yeah, that should be a good start."
He then opens his crafting menu to start. But as he did, he quickly hesitates. "Wait a minute, now that I think about it..."
Eniko starts to remember about his previous battles yesterday, namely how he discovered he can use skills without clicking on the skill menu. What if the same thing happens when he crafts without using the crafting menu? Now that he thought about it, he reads the description of the Parchment Paper, seeing it looks like instructions on how to make it. Upon realizing this, Eniko closed the crafting menu and starts working without the menu. Preparing the tools to make a Parchment Paper, he removed his armor plates and gloves on his arms and his scarf and pulls out 3 papers. "First, get 3 Old Papers and..."
He then soaked the papers into the dishpan he found in the bathroom filled with water and then puts a weight he bought from a NPC shop to meld them together. "That should do it." He then wait for a while for the papers to merge together in the water as he is reading the recipes in his borrowed book. After for a while, he pulls out the weight from the dishpan and dumped the water into the sink to see the merged papers together. After removing the air bubbles and bumps found on the merged paper to avoid any mistakes, he hangs the finished paper to dry. When it did for a hour, he then takes it and looks at his finished paper at last.
"The Parchment Paper, I can't believe it! I made my first craft item." He stared at the paper in awe until he snaps out of it, realizing he needs more things to do after making the Parchment Paper. "Oh right, I need to make the Quill Pen next."

"Next, one Old Quill and two Old Ink..."
He then pulls out the said materials and puts them along with the paper on the table. "So all I have to do is to make the quill writable, huh?" He then looks at the end of the quill, which he made him nervous a little as he checks the book again. "To make a nib, I need to shave off the barbs for holding the quill and cut the end? Should be easy. But first..." He then looked at the cup filled with sand that he got outside after visiting the library heated up by two candles that he lit a few minutes ago. "Although it's optional, it's best to heat up the quill just in case. Now to prepare it..." Eniko then starts by shaving off the barbs and cuts the end diagonally. He then puts the Old Quill onto the sand to heat it.
"A Quill Pen, huh? Reminds me of medieval times and those books my mom usually let me read..."
----
A few years ago, a young Ken is looking at the textbook his mother is holding, with his eyes brimmed with curiosity. "Hey, Mommy. Why are those people are writing with bird feathers?"
"It's called a quill, Ken. In medieval times, people such as scribes used it to write documents and scrolls. In other words, it's an ancestor to the pens we are using today." His mother explained with a smile.
"What are skwibes?"
She giggled at what Ken just said, still aware that he's still too young to learn big words in her book. Yet, she lets him read it after he complained that he wants something different to read other than storybooks. "Scribes are people who write books and scrolls by hand and helps other people track their records. They can also copy books to study them later."
"Wow. Are skwibes are also important people, too?"
"In the past, yes. Today, accountants, lawyers, and journalists served as scribes. However, no matter what, they are very important professions and without them, we have no books or newspapers today."
Hearing this from his mother, Ken smiled as he was more curious as ever, wanting to be a scribe like in the book.
----
A few minutes later, Eniko took out the feather from the sand and starts trimming off the end of the quill as he starts to think about his remembered memory. He wanted to do something like a scribe when he grows up, but since he only like drawing, he might goof off. But when he heard about Elder Tale and the Scribe subclass in the list, he decided to give it a try. But he never knew he could be one when he was transported in the world of Elder Tale. He then managed to cut the end of the quill into a shape of a nib and tries to write it in the paper as he dips it into the ink and writes the names he knew. First he writes his father's name, "Nick "Niko" Sheridan". Then seeing it can write clearly, he writes his mother's name next, "Emilia Sheridan". Then his real name, "Kenneth "Ken" Sheridan". Last, he writes his new name in the new reality.
"Eniko."
"Finished." He was happy that he did it. Not only he made the Quill Pen, but he managed to write the names of his family, including himself. "Mom, Dad, I hope you were able to see this."

After making the Quill Pen, Eniko is reading at the book of Scribe craft recipes while lying on the bed, wondering what item he will make next until he noticed an interesting entry. "What's this? "Unfounded Kingdom Map - London Area: A largely incomplete map of the Unfounded Kingdom with a basic template designed by Scribe Hearst, focusing on the London area. Just having it in your possession gives your minimap interface the map data that was recorded on it." An incomplete paper map which doubles as the minimap interface? Hmm..." He then thinks about this recipe, wondering if it's useful even Eniko already has the minimap interface. However, now that he thought about it, he remembered something about yesterday.
"Wait a minute, when I left the city yesterday to learn about battling, my minimap disappeared. But when I was walking around the city earlier, it came back. Does that mean it always disabled itself whenever I'm outside the city?" Upon thinking about this revelation, Eniko realized something. If the minimap's disabled, that would mean getting lost into the woods and never find a way back to the city and worst, he might be killed in an ambush. "Maybe a map would be a good idea. The description did say even I can able to fill the missing areas of the map since I'm a Scribe. But I don't know about making a map." He then reads the book again to see if there's anything to help him. "Maybe I should try using the crafting menu. No, wait. I need to craft this by hand or this training is useless."
However, upon realizing that this is a world based on Elder Tale, he might able to draw it easily by clicking on the map like in the menu. However, he nodded in disapproval, wanting to draw this by hand. "Wait, draw it by hand? That's it! I know how to draw landscapes, so maybe making a map is the same as that. And maybe, I can just do the easy way if I'm stuck." Now deciding what to do, he then says, "Alright, time to start working on the map!"
He then got up from his bed and prepares his materials on the table, namely a Parchment Paper and a Quill Pen he made earlier. "Okay, the first thing I should do is how an old-fashioned map looks like." He tried to remember about medieval maps in some books that his mother read them to him. "Let's see, cartography is where I study and practice making maps, maps are complicated to make by hand... What else?" Remembering the pictures and information about maps in the books he read with his mother a few years ago, he started off drawing the compass representing the cardinal directions according to what the book said to the paper by tapping on the paper, creating the said compass. He then draw the decorations of the map such as the borders, the curved lines near the borders, the medieval fleur-de-lis on the curved lines, drawing symbols to represent buildings...
Now that he thinks about it, he needs a lot more to do for the map. "This is gonna take a while..."

A few minutes have passed, which Eniko made some progress on the map as he finished drawing the cardinal compass, the borders and curved lines, and the legends to the symbols he drew. "So far, so good..." He then try his hand in calligraphy by writing the words, "Unfounded Kingdom" on the top of the map in cursive writing. "Slow and steady. And then..." Eniko then wrote "London Area" on the bottom of the map slowly. Although he wanted to finish this fast, he doesn't like to ruin the map's quality. And as he predicted, he took 30 minutes to write in the letters. Although it could have been 20-30 minutes, he was still satisfied.
"Alright, time to do the hard part: Drawing the map." Remembering the minimap, he then dipped his pen with ink to continue as he drew the base of the map of London. As he drew on the map, he tried his best to copy the map with his ability. And slowly, he marked some of the areas with the symbols from the legend list. A hour has passed and Eniko drew most of Londinium's map. He knew it was incomplete, so he needs to remember only the city, the areas that he saw during his walk earlier, and the forest he visited. And one by one, he added more symbols to the forests, shops, and important areas he knew it was important.
As he continued to draw, he felt something from his past, something that he was enjoying this. "This feeling... It felt so familiar. Like when I'm drawing trees and flowers..." And to his shock, he is drawing, yet despite not either a tree or flower, he's drawing the city he was born into. Realizing this, he smiled in joy as he continues to draw the map. "I knew it. Scribes can draw, too. If only I can draw more and more... Then I can feel like I'm back in my own world." And with few hours has passed, Eniko finished the incomplete map. Although it looked a little crooked due to his first experience in cartography, he felt proud of his work. This made him smile a little, knowing that his parents would be proud at his achievement. "I didn't only made this by hand, but I knew I can draw like in the real world."
This made him realized something. If he can use his drawing skill with his newfound Scribe skills, he can contribute something for the trapped players of Elder Tale. And with this thought, he realized something. He just found his own path. "Now to figure out what to do for this path... Without losing my pure heart."
With his map done and ready to be filled when he will travel more outside London, Eniko removed his boots and went to bed. And despite not feeling tired, he closed his eyes to sleep.
