To be honest, Lax just didn't know what an MMO was like. He'd never played one. This was truly his first video game that he'd ever played, and it had become his whole world. The warning didn't fall on deaf ears, but it didn't deter Lax from wanting to showboat. He found a nice plump boar that looked about right, level 4 by the looks of it, and charged. He didn't need Auto Attack, no, he was a man. He swung his sword at the boar's face, but instead of recoiling like it usually did when he hit it, the Monster just looked mildly annoyed. Its health barely went down by that attack, which immediately made Lax worried. He glanced around, and saw a few boxes in the corner of his vision off to the side of his Interface. They were empty except for 2. One had the symbol of auto attack, the other his Samurai skill. Whatever these boxes were, they looked out of the way enough to be easier to use in the middle of combat. Steeling himself for the boar to charge, he hoped he was right when he selected his Gonosen skill at almost the last minute.
What happened was awesome, to Lax, who had never successfully done this before. His body moved automatically, which he had started to adjust to, rising his sword upwards to meet the charging Monster. The blade hit face and pushed it back, doing minor damage while also giving Nikky a great opportunity to slip in while its guard was down and get a few good hits in. Lax immediately noticed the cooldown, hoping that it was over in time for him to use it again, but realizing that he was probably going to have to find some other attack to fill in the cooldown time. Precious moments ticked by as the boar recovered from the parry Skill.

Nicky ran towards the boar, after having read through what her only skill did again and again while she was lost the day before she let her body do the work, when she was close enough she planted a foot and kicked off, holding her blades out she spun and a rapid pace, after completing her four rotations she quickly jumped back to assess the situation within which Lax had gotten them. She only needed eight seconds before she could spin again though she thought that was odd, normally after spinning like that she'd have been unable to stand, now she could go and do it again eight seconds later? She didn't find it completely realistic but ignored it, getting back to her feet in her regular fighting stance once again. Ready for the boar's next move.

The whirlwind slash or whatever Nikky used was flashy, impressive, and quite damaging... to both the boar and Lax. Not being able, or ready, to get out of the way in time, Lax was hit with each of Nikky's blades four times each, doing a serious number on his health. "Watch it, Shrimp!" Annoyed at being hit by his own "party member" or whatever they called this loose unstable relationship, Lax wanted to hit her back, but restrained himself. There was no purpose in that, especially not with the boar charging him. He needed 20 whole seconds for his Gonosen to cool down, which was crippling. The boar slammed into his stomach, dealing a whole lot more damage than the level 1s were capable of. He dropped to his knees in a mixture of pain and a bit of shame. He had just enough health to survive the first attack, but not nearly enough to survive a single other attack from the boar, and it wasn't even at half health.
His ignorance at the mechanics of the game was about to get him killed. He weakly slashed at the boar, but his Starter Katana didn't do much at all to help damage it. The boar stomped down with its legs at Lax, and that was it. He shattered in a kaleidoscope of light motes and was gone. He thought that he was dead, and surely his short life had flashed before his eyes, but when he awoke in the Abbey, he was surprised that he wasn't dead. If no one can truly die here... then player killing is not only profitable, but completely guiltless! My Subclass will be awesome... when I can actually take on another Adventurer... Nikky and Lax were now quite a distance away, and had never made it onto each other's friends list. For a good while Lax rested in the Abbey, since dying was a bit of a traumatic experience, so it was perfectly reasonable for Nikky to find him if she managed to escape the boar or die herself.

Nicky's fight with the boar took quite some time, having low defence was her main issue. Constantly ducking, dodging, and tumbling out of the way, using blitzkrieg tactics against the monster. The cool down on her main damaging move ways only eight seconds, but against a creature it seemed like so much more. During the battle she was glad she'd chosen the lighter chainmail. Sure she took a huge hit when she would stumble but she had an easier time jumping out of the boars way. When she eventually killed it she was nearly dead. But she never skipped a beat, the second the monster died she whipped around and ran back for the town. True she was horrible at directions but all the roads let to the cathedral, she'd have no trouble finding her way there.
When she got there and got Lax's attention she bowed forwards, "Please forgive me." She stayed in that position, nearly dead, shaking from exhaustion, but she didn't move. She'd harmed her team mate, and that's not something you do. It was stupid of her to use a move with such a wide AOE, and she was stupid to try and show off as she had. Her hands were clenched in fists at her sides, she wasn't angry at him, nor the boar, she was pissed off at herself. She'd been stupid and he'd died because of it.

Without missing a beat, Nicky found Lax in the Abbey, resting in one of the pews. Bowing incredibly low, and holding that position, the Samurai could tell that she was exhausted and nearly dead. And that she was angry and apologetic. He figured that he owed her a little bit of sympath... no, he owed her a little bit of pit... no. He really owed her a bit of respect. "Stand up, shorty. You look even shorter than you actually are with your body bent like that." Maybe it was a gesture of forgiveness, maybe it was him saying he was "embarrassed" at her actions, either way, it was a command to stand up. Not really a suggestion that was used in a nice tone, because Lax wasn't a nice person, but it had a bit of heart into it. Maybe. Not really.

His words caught her off guard, she was expecting something more... well something more mean. It almost seemed like he was actually forgiving her, she couldn't tell for sure, he kept a pretty constant emotional mask. Standing up straight she looked at him, she didn't know what to say at first, thanks for forgiving me? Sorry for cutting you to bits? Eventually she decided she'd just go ahead and give him his share of the loot. " Here" was all she could get out as she held out a bag of money, she'd given him a larger portion as if compensation for dying. Her breath still ragged and her knees still weak she stood her ground. She was not going to collapse in front of him, he kept up his macho attitude, she kept up her's, that was how she decided to face this situation.

Lax couldn't have known that he had been given the greater share of loot from the kill since Nicky didn't say anything about it, but he took the sack of gold that was hung out towards him. "Next time, wait until I'm out of range to spin around like a mad woman, short stuff." The usual curt replies were back, however, Lax was already going through his interface looking for the right buttons. He seemed to drag something, and Nicky would see something appear on her own interface, or a little message icon show up if she didn't yet have the interface open.
Adventurer Lax would like to add you to his friends list. Accept/Decline?

The message startled her, not only was it sudden but she honestly expected him to just be a jerk to her and refuse to be her friend. She smiled softly as she excepted it, "I don't think I could've hurt you if we'd have been in a party..." She was slowly catching her breath but was still completely drained. She still stood, refusing to show even the slightest bit of weakness. Sure she was practically dead on her feet. But she still wanted to show him she was tough enough to deserve his friendship. She honestly was a try hard at making friends, she'd do almost anything to show some one she could be their friend and deserve the right to be their friend. If the only way was something she wouldn't do then they didn't deserve to be her friend, that's how she saw it at least. With her mind a light with thoughts her resolve wavered and with this, so did her knees. Trying to catch herself she over corrected and fell back, though she tried to play it off as just sitting down. She was happy for the break, even if it cost her a few more hit points.
