Reynard was surprised by the sudden burst of confidence Kitty was showing. She may have been nervous about her role in fighting but it seemed she had faith in her cooking skills. She was a little too excited to show off her skills as the tools and ingredients required to cook anything were beyond their current reach. Despite his want to support her in her quest to cook something to eat, they had to practical and use the simplest method to get some food.
“I think-”
His words were cut-off by the sound of his stomach finally rumbling audibly enough for another person to hear. Unfazed by his stomach’s interruption, the cleric decided to provide an easier method to sate their hunger.
“- we should just buy some food from town. Without any tools and ingredients, cooking may be problematical. You can try cooking next time?”
Truthfully, Reynard wanted to accept Kitty’s cooking. He wondered if she would offer again in the future but current circumstances weren’t cooperative. If she had no problems, Reynard would lead whoever was left in the group back to the city to get something to eat.
The city was still had a depressing atmosphere when they got back but at least the shouting and panicking had stopped. Plus people were no longer in the middle of the road. Ignoring those still choosing to mope, Reynard searched for a food stand to buy something to eat. His eyes caught sight of a sandwich stand run by a Lander NPC. He guided the group to the stand and brought out some of the gold they had farmed from killing the monsters. Thankfully, the food prices weren’t expensive allowing Reynard to buy sandwiches for each member of the group.
“My treat today.”
He handed them the food as Reynard was eager to eat his own sandwich. Hurriedly unwrapping his meal, Reynard took a bite… and paused. A few seconds passed before the foxtail started chewing again with a contemplating expression on his face. He finally swallowed the bite in order to be able to speak again.
“That. Did not taste right.”
It wasn’t that the food was spoiled; it just tasted similar to salty crackers. He wondered if anyone else was having the same experience.

Ame was always one to sort of jump the gun. She wanted to experience cooking in the land that she was slowly coming accustomed to. She had a little know how of the battle system and would only get better, but she had to become aware of her other classes as well. She had time though, as they had only just begun their adventures and though she was eager, she knew she would have to wait.
She listened to Reynard, then listened to his growling stomach. As if they were talking to each other, her stomach growled as well. She put her two hands on it and then nodded as he considered cooking the next time they met. She nodded her head, agreeing with his words. "Yes, that is true. I believe you are right as it may take some time to cook even with the necessary tools." She knew that it would take time for her to acquire the things she would need, tools and ingredients alike, but they were hungry now and seemingly would need to eat soon.
She followed him through the town, looking around at the Lander's and other adventurers. She felt her head tilt as she looked around. In the time they had been battling, the chaos and destruction seemed to stop. People still seemed on edge and nervous about the current situation, but it had calmed down a lot compared to her arrival. Ame smiled as they came up to a stand and Reynard spoke that their meal would be his treat. She grinned widely and took the sandwich. "Thank you for the meal!" She didn't look at his face, as she should have, and took a big bite, stopping momentarily before beginning to chew. She made a strange face and finally looked over to him. He seemed to be having a hard time and she nodded to him as he spoke. "It.. Tastes like salty crackers..." She took another bite, her starvation taking over. 'Oh well, I'm not about to stop eating, I'm too hungry..'

OOC: Sure we can end this in about two more posts each then start a new one Even if the food tasted weird, hunger was always the best flavoring. His desire to fill his stomach with food overwrote whatever complaints he had with the taste. It was definitely strange and now on the long list of things that had to be figured out in this new world. Examining the last bite of the “sandwich”, Reynard popped the rest into his mouth as his ears and tails flattened showing him visibly reacting to the taste of the food. Granted he had eaten something like that for a meal once but it was so weird when food looked like one thing and tasted something vastly different.
Reynard glanced at Kitty who did let the taste prevent her from quickly devouring her food. He was now very curious if he should have let Kitty cook some food. Maybe it would taste exactly how it looked like. Even if he knew he should have been hungrier, the weird taste killed his appetite and Reynard didn’t bother to buy more food. Reynard just contented himself with watching Kitty finish her meal.
It had apparently been a long day as an orange glow was beginning to appear across the sky. The sun would begin setting soon and night would come now. It was still surreal what had happened in this world. With no battling to distract himself with, Reynard’s mind began to ponder on this world. Things like how? when? why? where? flowed through his mind but without any answers. It was a while before he realized he had drifted off in the presence of company.
“Oh, apologizes. Did you say something?”
He asked Kitty in case she was trying to get his attention even though he wasn’t really sure if she had.

As Ame attempted to shove the food down her throat, she really hoped that her food wouldn't taste like this. It was like eating saugy crackers, and really, she didn't like it. She figured it was the same taste of the mush that elder's were given when all of their teeth fell out.. Disgusting, but still, she smiled to the Lander who had given them the food and nodded her head politely. She wasn't about to say that his food tasted like crap.. That would just be rude and she wasn't one to be like that.
As Reynard spoke, she shook her head and giggled. "Nothing important, don't worry. Thank you again!" She smiled and finished off her meal, forcing the last bite into her mouth and swallowed it. She sighed as the last bit went down her throat and into her stomach. She still felt a little hungry, but she was satisfied enough and didn't want to eat any more of the Lander's food. She felt bad for the thought, but really, it wasn't appealing to her in anyway. "So, what should we do now? Do you have any plans for your character? Like, joining a guild or anything?" She looked at him, waiting for his answers.
In the mean time, she looked around the town, her eyes shifting to different people and the different buildings. So, this place was to be their new homes. She wasn't sure if she was still worried about it, or if she would actually enjoy it here. So far, it was good, really good, despite the lack of taste in the food. She had enjoyed fighting for the first time, and now that the people all around had calmed, it was really a lovely sight. She looked forward to meeting new people and discovering the land. She was going to live her life here much differently than she did in her world, her old world. Though, she still wondered what had made them all come into this place and what was happening in the other world. She let out a small sigh. Would they ever get the answers to their questions? She felt that it was doubtful, but then again, who really knew? She never would have thought that an Online MMORPG would lead her into a different world, a world of it's own world, so the possibilities to her felt endless. She looked back to the other fox tail and tilted her head. She wondered what he thought about all of this.

While Reynard had gone all contemplative, Kitty remained cheerful and optimistic. Hopefully it she wasn’t forcing herself just for the sake of being happy as it wasn’t healthy. Despite his concern, her joy was infectious and did lift his mood. He could brood on his own time; it would be waste to not enjoy the company of a person who wasn’t depressed. Even with her mood, Kitty still asked the question Reynard himself was contemplating on earlier: What to do now?
However, another thing that caught Reynard’s attention was Kitty’s question about plans for his character. Before it was easy to consider the avatar inside the screen as a separate entity from yourself. Sure it was technically you but it was also a way to become a different person through that avatar. He had done it multiple times when roleplaying different personalities. It was always an inside joke to himself that his characters had better luck getting into a relationship that in real life. However, in this world, there was no longer a barrier separating yourself from the avatar. You were the avatar now so whatever plans he did have for his character now affected his way of life.
Example was his choice to become a combat-medic. In the old world, it was just a spur of the moment thing to try something new. When things were still separated in the old world, in real-life, Reynard knew how to fight thanks to some martial arts. In the game, his personality tended to lean towards a support character which usually ended up as the healer. In either end, pure fighter or pure support, he would have complete confidence in his skills. Now he was a hybrid, having to balance two dynamically opposing roles in battle. If this was like the game, there was no way to change this without making a new character.
At least that’s what Reynard thought at the moment. Technically he could always trade in his weapons and still go full support as a healer but as he would learn later on, you could just sit back and cast behind a screen but when you had the capability to fight; one could not just stand back and not rush to the front lines. But that would be a story for another day.
“I do not have immediate plans. I would think more practice in fighting or maybe controlling this tail that has not stopped wagging.”
Demonstrating his point, his tail was swishing side-to-side which would usually mean a dog was happy.
“But… in truth, I want to find out if any of my old friends came to this world. If we get together then maybe it would not be so… lonely.”
Without even meaning to, Reynard’s tail had stopped its wagging and drooped carelessly. His ears had dropped down as well showing the emotion running through the foxtail at the moment.
“NOT that your company is not appreciated, Kitty.”
Reynard gave a strained smile at his own words. The city was starting to darken as the sun was disappearing further into the horizon.
“It seems that it is getting late. We should check into an inn. How would you like to lead the way?”

Ame listened to him speak, she let out a soft giggle as he spoke of his tail wagging happily behind him and she felt her own doing the same. "I suppose I should try and control mine too, though, if I am correct, tails show what emotion you are feeling. You must be happy for it to be wagging like that." She flashed him her great smile and giggled a little more, then, her smile faded with his next words, and she found herself watching the flattened tail. She thought for a moment about his friends, if he would find them. She hoped that he did, but she felt a pang of jealousy hit her heart. She didn't have any friends from the real world here. Her brother was going to play, but he ended up not being able to and gave her his copy. She was alone in the world, and with his words, she really felt it. "You'll find them, I'm sure of it." She gave him a light hearted smile and felt that her tail, too had dropped, but she couldn't recall when it happened.
With his next words, she blew out a soft laugh and nodded. She hated the thought of him being lonely, but, she also suddenly felt very alone herself. She felt her tongue lick over her lips and she contemplated her situation in her mind. She wondered if she would make friends in this world. Would she make plenty, and not be alone any more? Or would she be a lone cleric, having to do things all on her own. She had made friends with Reynard, and hopefully Emmerich, though she knew Reynard would find his friends. Would he still want to be her friend afterwards? With his last sentence, she looked at him and nodded, opening her interface. "Well, it doesn't seem to be too far. We should head down this road and make our second right, then a first left and we'll be there. It's on the left corner." She turned on her heels and headed in the direction that showed on her map.
As she closes her interface, she clasps her hands together behind her back and begins walking, thinking about what this new world was going to bring her. After a few moments, she looked to Reynard. "Hey Rey, uhm, even when you find your friends.. Do you think you would still want to be my friend?" Maybe it was a silly question, but it almost felt as though she needed the confirmation in her heart. She felt her cheeks flush pink and she looked away from him, watching forward. "It's just that.. Well, I don't have any friends that were logging on or anything, so, I'm kind of, alone.. Here.." She sighed lightly but continued onward, following their first turn as they came up to it. She continued on, waiting for his reply. She wouldn't expect him to continue being her friend, as he had his own, but she was hoping for it, hoping that he would want to fight beside her again one day, and let her cook him the meal she had promised him.

It had not occurred to him that his tail would be a reflection of his emotions. True it was something he expected from dogs and other animals but he hadn’t accepted the tail as part of his own body. It still felt like an add-on which would only disappear after some time. For now it took Kitty voicing her opinion to set him on the path of comprehension. Incidentally, Kitty was also showing him the path towards an inn they could stay and rest. Following her, Reynard walked at her right, a step behind as she was leading the way. The walk was quiet and served to loosen some of his nerves, even allowing his tail to sway without care behind him.
“Hey Rey.”
Reynard faced the person who called out to him. As they were still walking, Kitty voiced her concerns about them being friends. He was a bit taken a back as no one really had made being friends with him a major concern in their lives. With the world changing, maybe making sure you had friends were just as important in living as knowing how to battle was for surviving. A small smile showed on his face as his tail started wagging, at a more relaxed pace, once more.
“Kitty, you were the first person I meet here. Part of my first party. Had our first battle. Got something to eat together and we are now walking back to a place of rest.”
He stopped speaking to let the words sink in for her but he wasn’t idle in the meantime. Opening the party list, Reynard clicked on Kitty’s name and selected an option in the sub-menu. A prompt would appear in front of Kitty Grey: A Friend Request. If she accepted then his name would be on her friend list and hers would be in his.
“If that does not qualify as friendship… then we should correspond until you think it does.”
Those actions also qualified for a somewhat interesting date if you stretched it a bit but who would make that connection? Certainly not Reynard. Arriving at the inn, Reynard would do the polite thing and be the one to speak to the Lander for rooms for the party. Separate since they surprisingly had enough gold for it but close enough in case they still needed to contact each other. Before they left for separate rooms, Reynard called out.
“It was an interesting experience today. Even if we go about our separate ways soon, thank you for the party. You never forget the first people you party with.”
Mostly looking at Kitty when he spoke. Things might be different tomorrow. They might go about their separate ways but they were always connected by their shared experiences of today. It was a small world, even more so with this one being half the size of earth, so they would most likely see each again.
“Good night.”

Maybe it was a little strange to ask someone if they would continue to be their friend, but it was something she felt in her heart that she had to do, like she had to confirm that he would remain friends with her. She let out a soft breath and another small giggle as he spoke and she shook her head mentally at herself. Of course he wouldn't deny her friendship, as he already had said, they were friends after all. She clicked the accept button and smiled as his name popped up on her friends list and she closed her interface. "You know, they way you explained that it kind of sounding like some sadistic date or something." She blushed a little from her burst of words but let out a laugh as to make a joke out of it, though she wondered why she had even thought such a thing. Perhaps it was her feminine brain that made her think that way, but she hoped he wasn't freaked out. "Anyways, friendship accepted, thanks!" She smiled and tilted her head towards him.
As they came up on the inn and stepped inside, she watched as Reynard made the exchange of gold for rooms and smiled, saying thank you to the inn keeper as she took her room key. She smiled as Reynard spoke again and nodded. "It was really fun, thank you both!" She headed up the stairs behind Reynard, waving at him as she stood in front of her door. "Night Rey. Sweet Dreams!" She gave him a wink, for an unknown reason and smirked and then let herself into her room. She sighed as she stepped in and closed the door and sat on the bed for a moment to go through the days event. She was in a strange game world without a clue of how to conquer it. Well, she had wanted to get into the MMO genre and she figured this was a better time than any since really, she had no choice in the matter. She laid her head back on the pillow and stared at the ceiling for a moment, considering who she wanted to be here, what kind of person she would become and what adventures would she be brought by this strange dimension of a game. There was one thing she did know, was that she didn't want to be alone, and with her first party, and her first friend request, she knew she wouldn't be.
